You may have noticed that it reaches an feddbacks average is very good, and it's founded on a very high number of feddbacks, so we may conclude that the assessment is very accurate. If many people have bothered to give their review when they are pleased with the service, it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to give evaluations when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
I stayed for one night on July 17th for business and had an incredible amount of paperwork to work on. This hotel did not disappoint!! My room was fantastic - great view(I almost went down to the waterfront but my work would have suffered...A LOT!!), incredibly clean and spacious. The bathroom was awesome with all the modern amenities. The staff were extremely pleasant and friendly also which was nice after such a long drive - a smile goes a long way. I definitely have to come back for a pleasure stay!!!!
Hotel was clean but the room provided was quite small compared to the photos on the internet. No place to put away clothing, had to keep it in my bag. Breakfast was basic, prepackaged, nothing to write home about.
My partner and I have stayed here twice and enjoyed our stay both times. It's a lovely spot with friendly staff, nice rooms and a good breakfast. Our first room was spacious, whereas our second stay was very small; both room types were the same (single queen bed) but the rooms vary on size so keep an eye out. In our second room the bed took up the entire room so there wasn't much walking space. Overall, a nice stay.
Was a great stay! Tons of USB ports and access to technology! Great location, super nice staff. Room was spotless and very up to date styling. Loved the keurig in my room and the rain shower was very nice!
It's a wonderful hotel in a prime location near the waterfront in Orillia. The room I had was a little small, but very clean and with very nice furniture. The staff were extremely pleasant and accommodating.
Great staff and rates ... the rooms are very nice and newly renovated , everything is close by , pharmacy across the street restaurants and shopping .. Very Covid safe and friendly....
I was very surprised at the beautiful renovations for the price I paid. Exceptional room for just sleeping. Small, but it was all I needed. Exceptional decorating. A block to the lake and the restaurant had top notch service and food
Very nice newly renovated hotel. Located in the heart of the downtown area close to harbour and many restaurants . There is a very convenient shuttle service offered at hotel for round trip transportation to Casino Rama . Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly .
The hotel staff we interacted with and the location was awesome, however that may be the only positives. We found the room to be very dirty. I don't believe the sheets were changed between guests and the bathroom had toothpaste stains and other people's hair all throughout. As we were packing up we found massive red stains all over the mattress protector underneath our sheet.. definitely a horrifying sight after sleeping in the bed for two nights. We will never stay at this hotel again. Very disappointing as we normally have very good experiences with Ascend Hotels.
The issues with our first room were quickly rectified. We were changed to another room immediately and were given a discount on our stay at the hotel.
Looks like a historic building from the outside but really tastefully decorated inside. Modern, stylish, and beautiful. Enjoyed our stay in the king room and it was very comfortable. The staff are super friendly, especially the lovely man who took care of the breakfast area. They offer a hot breakfast from 8-11am and coffee/tea/juices in the lobby at all times. The location is perfect, just a min away from Lake Simcoe waterfront and a quick walk into town where all the restaurants and shops are. Also next to a 24 hr metro and shoppers drug mart. I agree with some reviews saying there should be a check up after the cleaning staff does their job as we had toiletries missing in our room but the reception is friendly and brought us these items when we called in. Would stay again if we return to Orillia.
My husband Richard and I stayed at this hotel when our grandson was a patient at the local hospital. His 4 month old sister needed to be available for nursing with her mother and we were charged with the responsibility of caring for her. We are seniors and looking after an infant was not in our plans over the holidays. The hotel made our job so much easier than it could have been. The staff is without doubt the best I have ever encountered. They were at all times, ready and willing to help us in any way they could....from washing baby bottles to offering rides to the hospital on their personal time. The general manager is out front and visible as well as readily accessible when needed. Our room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The building has been recently renovated and amenities are more than adequate. The breakfasts hit the spot rivalled only by home made cookies and coffee one afternoon. The lobby is open and friendly, a perfect place to read a magazine or newspaper in front of the fire. We would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again and recommend it to friends and family.
We had a wonderful comfortable stay. Room was clean and very comfortable. Next time we are in Orillia, we will definitely return to The Champlain.
Staff was lovely We weren’t told (when we booked) that we would have to walk up and down so many stairs. parking is dismal and rooms are beyond small. We also had pigeons nesting outside our window and they were reasonably loud. Shower was nice but the water smells like mildew We paid far too much money for such a small and unaccommodating stay. Not a bad stay, but we won’t stay here again.
I live in Orillia and needed a place to temporarily hangout for the day while my house was being renovated. The young lady working 3-11 helped me find the best rate. Very short visit but would recommend based on the rate, value and costumer service
Our stay at the Champlain Waterfront Hotel was wonderful. The hotel has recently been renovated and is beautiful. The staff was friendly and helped us with any questions we had. Love that there is a shuttle to the casino and that there is …
The room was clean, functional and well planned. We stay every year for the convenience and proximity to the marina
The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. The hotel was located in a convenient spot that was close to several shops, restaurants, and bars. My only issue was our room was close to the ice machine and so it was a little loud, and while they did run out of parking at the back the staff did accommodate us by providing a pass so that we could park next door. Would stay here again.
Excellent service, clean room, great view! Easy access to uptown shops, restaurants and cafe’s!
This hotel is very comfortable and well maintained. It has a contemporary feel in a historic setting. The staff is super friendly and always willing to go that extra mile. Minutes away from historic downtown with very quaint shops and numerous restaurants. Only negative was limited parking. I highly recommend this place.
This hotel was such a lovely place to stay - the staff was out of this world friendly - one sweet lady even helped us with out bags just because she saw us leaving our room! the breakfast was so fresh hot and delicious - and they kept it …
Hotel very clean and modern, room felt brand new. Rooms somewhat on the small side - which may or may not be an issue. No elevator and even some walkers may feel fatigued. Breakfast good and does the job but not a lot of seating in eating area. Parking can be tough as well. Good place overall, nice waterfront location.
If extensive construction/repairs are happening in the hotel you would THINK the staff would notify you of the work going on BEFORE YOU BOOK IN!!! Over 3 hours of e tremendous noise
Overal it was a good stay. Hotel is very clean and and has undergone many renovations. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Just missed our complimentary breakfast which we so enjoyed last year. Looking forward to that elevator installation.
This hotel is a hidden gem. Loved how cute and modern it looks. Bed is very comfortable! Customer service is excellent. I love how it is walking distance to restaurants and the waterfront. Will definitely come back!
What you read on the hotel's website is not what you get when you arrive. No elevator (this place has 3 floors), under renovation so there is construction noise and boxes everywhere, new front desk staff so don't expect anyone to help you …
The Champlain Hotel, formerly the Quality Inn has had a terrific makeover. The room during my stay was comfy with a great decor. The bathroom is especially well made over. King size bed, mini fridge, large screen tv, all at a reasonable …
This is a fabulous hotel in the heart of downtown Orillia. Walk to everything, including dining, shopping, the harbour or trails. I can even bring my dog. This hotel is a true gem
There is a lot of construction in the area. We could not find parking and were not told ahead of time of this reality. When we went inside we were told we could park in the municipal parking area and would get a parking ticket and simply had to bring ticket back and they would pay. Seems like there is something more that could be done around this. The hallways are very narrow. The elevator was not working and the rooms are very tiny. The decor was pretty modern. The carpet was old. Would be great to not have carpet. The washroom was nice. We received a bag breakfast which was appreciated. Other than the tiny rooms, construction and parking situation, it was ok. The staff were so kind. I think it was pricey for what you get. The location was great. The restaurant closed I think around 10:30pm Because by the time we came down for a drink, they had closed. Would have been good to know they close early.
We stayed at the Champlain Waterfront hotel for a concert event as Casino Rama, the location was perfect except for local road work which was terrible (not the hotels fault). The only downside to our stay was the lack of a elevator at the …
We stayed here for a couple of nights in July. Booked it as it was walking distance to both the lakefront and the downtown. …
Room was updated but could have been cleaner. The breakfast station was almost empty so limited with the choices. The young man at the front desk was very professionnel and nice. I was expecting a lot more for what I paid for.
I booked a King bed suite room online that said it had a whirlpool tub a week in advance. I had spoke to the front desk and was told they could not match the online price. When we arrived we were told that indeed they had a king size room for us, No whirlpool tub and had we been warned about our room being next to the nightclub that started up at 10 and went to 2am and it would be very loud. We were then offered a room with one double bed at the same price. Doesn't seem right to downgrade rooms at the same rate. The front desk clerk had an attitude and offered to call around to find us other accomodations. She started at the highest priced hotels but did finally find one room at a lower priced hotel that offered us two double beds. I would go to the Knights Inn again anytime I am in the area. Staff was pleasant, hotel was very clean and you got what you were told. I would never consider booking another room at the Rodeway Inn again.
Staff polite and helpful and room clean and neat. Should state somewhere that there is NO elevator yet, you have to carry your bags up multiple flights of stairs and there is no one to assist you with that. Room was extremely small. Not at all good if you have any disability issues."Hot breakfast" consisted of a burrito or sandwich out of fridge which you microwave yourself. Parking lot was full when we returned after 11 at night. Had to park a block away in a specific area of a small mall and were told that if we were ticketed - they would take care of it.
This hotel was in the perfect location for our event at the casino and offered a well priced, fairly organized shuttle service to get to and from the casino. The room was small but very comfortable and had exactly what we needed for our …
There are a number of small issues and one large problem with this property. The room we stayed in was large, had a great shower and a nice sitting area with TV and tall table to eat at but the room seemed like it was in the middle of a renovation. The floor was dusty, gritty and needed a vacuum. No carpet, which is great as we like hard floors and wish all hotels would go that way for ease of cleaning. But it was also missing a lot of normal hotel stuff, like shelves in the bathroom to set stuff on and clothes hooks to use while in the shower. The room was missing a lamp shade so just a bare bulb. The beds were way too soft and unsupportive. The included breakfast was just terrible. Frozen breakfast items and just one microwave for the long lineup of people to try to heat their meal. There was coffee but if you wanted hot water for tea or hot cereal, (I brought oatmeal from home) the urn was empty. All of that can be forgiven as the industry tries to get staff and recover from the pandemic. I understand. The one major problem is the parking. There is not nearly enough for the size of the hotel. We were told to park in the municipal lot next door. Fifty dollars a day flat rate. If you don't pay it and your vehicle gets a ticket we were told the hotel would pay for the ticket. Not a good start to the visit. This is a beautiful, old style classic building that is close to the waterfront, restaurants and other businesses. Hopefully they can improve on some of the smaller issues I mentioned. The parking problem doesn't seem to be easy to remedy.
We were put into a very VERY small room in the BASEMENT of the hotel, in a queen bed, and we had room to walk around the bed and that was about it. The window was also small, and since the window was ground level we had to keep the curtains closed always.
I have stayed many times, and the hotel in the past has always been clean, not this time.
The rooms are small, but with fairly nice contemporary design. The hotel is located within walking distance from the lake, which was a bonus when arriving by boat. …
I work there in maintenance. Never stay there but if I had to I would. The room are vary nice and grate as it right down town, not for from the water front.
I booked a room here for just one night, to stay after a concert at Casino Rama. Hadn't expected much, but was very pleasantly surprised. It's obviously recently renovated, and I'd say kudos to the interior designer: very nice room, with fancy and modern design, including the bathroom. The room is on a smaller side, but doesn't feel claustrophobic. Everything is in its place, very well thought through. The only complaint I've got is about the noise: you can hear people walking and talking in the hallway, the cars in the street, and the AC/heater unit is quite loud. But when I mentioned this during the checkout they took notice and gave me a discount, which was very nice of them. No complaints whatsoever about the reception staff.
The Champlain Hotel was featured in the books by Stephen Leacock, Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town, and this new and updated version of the oft mentioned hotel, is definitely worth the look. …
Fantastic well renovated hotel. Close to the water and nice area to walk in the summer. Phenomenal unique shops all with in walking distance! European style setup in the rooms, but still enough space. Cozy and comfortable. The management staff go above and beyond to make your stay is a good one. My number one choice to stay anytime I am in the area. One of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had. Highly recommended.
Location Was perfect and the room was clean and modern. Beds were real comfy as well.
Great staff! Our room was small but comfortable and cute. Close enough to the waterfront for us. The bagged breakfast was generous and there was coffee, fruit and cereal in the lobby.
We arrived at the hotel with another couple and they upgraded our rooms to the third floor and provided complimentary late checkout. The beds were comfortable and room more spacious than it shows in the pictures. …
We had a great stay at this hotel over the weekend. The room was clean and renovated. Perfect location with walking distance to the lake, Metro, Shoppers Drug Mart and different restaurants. We also enjoyed their on the go breakfast. The lady at the front desk and the cleaning staff were quite helpful, friendly and welcoming. I would definitely go back here next time I’m visiting Orillia.
This is a great location to stay if visiting the beautiful town of Orillia. The room although we found small was extremely clean, comfortable and modern. Our room did not have a great view but we were only a short walk to the beautiful …
Excellent experience. Brand new renovated rooms with king sized beds. The girlfriend loved the bathroom lighting. Staff was very helpful and accomadating to our needs. Great stay right in the heart of Orillia. Lovly restuarant with beautiful patio. Overall great.
Waterfront is a complete misnomer--not much truth in adverting here. The water is 200 meters away, across a road. Our room was small and cramped, with a lovely view of a brick wall.
This hotel is located right in downtown and the same time close to park/s and beeches. Welcomed staff and good coffee left a good impression. We will come later if decide to go up north.
Our room was recently renovated and looked like new. Bathroom was beautiful, sparkling clean and even had a nightlight. Bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. …
Excellent accommodations right in the center of downtown Orillia with nicely renovated rooms and great staff
There was hair in the shower. There was a 1/4 roll of tp and no spare. Only one set of towels (stained). Hotel lobby was pounded with air freshener and I'm sensitive to scents so it was hard to breath. Their was never anyone at the front desk. When I found the girl and asked for toiletries she said I had to do her a favour and watch the front desk. She disappeared for 5 minutes and only came back with toilet paper. The street light outside our window chimed for the blind every two minutes all night, but was drowned out by the helicopter ac unit, when it came on. Great location. Too small for what it cost ... And it wasn't because of the complimentary breakfast! Served the purpose for what I needed ... Was back home 2 hrs away before checkout!
This was our 3rd or 4th stay. Each time the service has been great, staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, linens plentiful, bedding comfortable, and general atmosphere is safe and secure. Lobby decor is current and pleasing
The Champlain Waterfront has excellent and safety-minded service. The location is superb to get to know Orillia. Our pets were welcomed and they enjoyed it as much as we did. Our room was modern and very well suited to our needs for our …
We didn't get the room we paid for on Expedia, when we asked about the room discrepancy because we booked and paid for a Superior King w/ Fireplace but were initially put in a regular Queen room. We were moved to a second room which was supposedly a Superior King however, when we opened the door to the room we found it to be occupied already... yes occupied by other guests!! Mind blowing but unfortunately true!! So back to the front desk we went for a second time, where we were informed that there weren't any of the rooms we booked and paid for actually left so they then put us in a third room of the night. It wasn't the same room we paid for or were expecting to have, but it was the "best they could do". At this point nothing was going to be too surprising so the room light burning out after being in there for all of 5 minutes or finding left behind clothes from a previous guest in the closet seemed like the expected in this place!! Clearly their cleaners don't bother to open the closet while cleaning... good to know and makes you wonder what else they don't open or clean. ????♀️ When we asked to speak to the manager in the morning we were ignored because he already knew the situation and there was nothing he could do because we booked with Expedia. I don't think Expedia had anything to do with not booking us in the correct room, or moving us to an already occupied room either!! Be very cautious about booking here because you definitely don't get what you pay for and cleanliness is clearly not a big deal nor is security!!
The service at the front desk was not up to par. Front desk lady had no personality and seemed unhappy. She lacked social skills and an unwillingness to greet people with joy, no matter whether she was happy to be there or not.
Never been in a Hotel/Motel that have rooms in the basement. Maybe the upstairs rooms are nice..(don't know). We were put in the basement and the rooms were tiny and claustrophobic! No problems with the staff however the management is pitiful. If there was ever a fire in this place, you would probably die in the basement rooms.
Not too clean, no elevator, staff friendly, rooms on the smaller side.
Best motel I've been in, especially for the price of $80. Amazing aesthetic presentation, enough electric sockets to charge 30 phones. Great continental breakfast, best during covid that I've seen. Towels could b softer but that was never a problem lol. Id recommend this to anyone traveling through Orillia.
Overall the hotel is well maintained. It is clean & tidy. Unfortunately there is no elevator, so prepare to climb the stairs.
Nice hotel very soundproof excellent location, within walking distance to many restaurants and beach/boardwalk
Beautiful facilities but a very rude staff. As we entered the building - struggling with our backpacks and gear through the construction - the door man stood watching and smirking. When we entered we were behind two couples. The first couple asked about parking, owing to the construction, and were rudely told to 'find someplace in the city it is not something we can control.' The second couple asked to 'check in early', in response they were told 'no problem, there are lots of rooms available.' When we stepped up with reservation and the same request the front doorman / desk clerk - judging us by our appearance announced that it would be '2-3 hours before another room could be made available''. Instead ignoring the fact that he had watched us struggle in with heavy backpacks told us 'perhaps you could hike up and down the shoreline for a few hours'. So your advice because you don't like us is to trek with 40 lb backpacks on in 38 degree heat 'up and down' the shoreline of Orillia 'for a few hours'? No offer of a storage closet to put our gear, no more salient suggestions? Well ultimately we did trek 'down the shoreline' to the next hotel and cancelled our reservation at the Champlain Waterfront. My advice to anyone going here is to check the reviews online - yes the building is beautiful, but the attitude is horrid.
Wonderful to see this treasure restored so well. Loved the nod to the past with the artwork of letters. The decor is lovely and modern. Very clean and staffed with an exceptional team of friendly and helpful people from the front desk staff to the breakfast service crew. Would definitely stay there again.
Nice staff appears to really care. However they need to check after house keeping. Our room was a bit dirty. Nothing that would stop me from returning. Upon reporting to supervisor. She held a staff meeting. Great response. I will definitely return.
Pros : staff was friendly, place is clean and new Cons : Unfortunately many, considering the reviews. - Room is vey small, we were in the basement level and it is dark with low ceilings, the size of cabins on a cruise ship - There was no space in the hotel parking, not a big deal to park at the mall, but when you don’t know you can park there (signs for 1-hour parking) you circle around for nothing - Noisy air conditioning unit - Kids at the bar / restaurant next door were just outside right next to the hotel, laughing, yelling, goofing around until 2 am at least Considering we were just wanting to crash and sleep after a show at casino Rama and head out early, not the best stay. Would not recommend it, unfortunately.
Good stay, newly renovated rooms. Down side was no elevator.
We had no problem with our check-in, it was fast and staff was helpful. We were a little confused about the parking lot on where is the entrance to it. There is entrance at the back from the parking lot and 2 sets of stairs going up to the …
We found staff very attentive, pleasant and good listeners. Overall we were pleasantly surprised how new the interior foyer, and rooms were with keeping the required historical exterior appearance to maintain the original 1932 vintage.
I did not stay at this hotel but this is about my unsuccessful attempt to book a room. I phoned the hotel 3 times but each time it kicked into voice mail. The first message was a female voice which lead to another message with a male voice. Both voice messages were exactly the same. Strange. I then decided to go on the hotel’s website and book on line. I completed the required information and then realized there was a substantial booking fee. No way thank you. So I did not proceed. I phone back and leave a message. It is now 5 hours later and no call back. Sorry but you snooze and lose. I just booked with another hotel which by the way answered “live” immediately and the room was booked in short order. I have zero patience and zero tolerance for businesses that cannot manage the simple of task of providing a basic level of customer service. UPDATE: THE HOTEL CALLED EXACTLY 46 1/2 HOURS AFTER MY MESSAGE. i MISSED THE CALL. THE MESSAGE STATED IN PART "IF YOU WOULD STILL LIKE TO BOOK A ROOM.......". NO APOLOGY FOR THEIR SLOW RESPONSE.
nice boutique and recently renovated with good service. Only minus is that it does not have an elevator, luckily we had a room on the ground floor. The website info did not include this important fact and we probably would have to look …
The room was compact and clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good and the timings for the breakfast were perfect. The price we paid was inexpensive. The hotel is located close to everything. There are quite a few …
