You have all the feddbacks of people who know the services and products of Masstown Market (Pharmacy) in the territory close to Nova Scotia (Canada).
Right now this business gets a score of 4.6 out of 5 and this rating has been based on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that its rating is practically the top, and it is based on a very large number of scores, so we may think that the rating is very credible. If many people have bothered to give their feddback when they are happy, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to put evaluations when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Pharmacy belongs to the category of Farmers' market.
LOTS TO SEE! souvenirs from the souvenir shop section is probably the best prices I've ever seen. Nice place
Delicious and affordable ice cream. Great shopping experience.
It was a sub-par holiday Monday. A number of breakfast menu essentials were out of stock (sausages, muffins), and they were quite short staffed (tables weren't being cleared). Not our usual experience.
Their first building has everything from their adorable gift shop with beautiful accessories for home and garden to their wonderful garden center just out side to the quaint sized liquor store that stocks everything possible. They also have …
Cool place to stop on the way to or from Halifax .. usually for ice cream.
Super cool place to visit if you are looking for fun gifts, in addition to wine, food or groceries. I don't recommend the weekend during covid as there are line ups outside to get in. However I went Monday late morning and it was great.
Something for everyone. Aside from the market and gift shop, there is a take-out and ice-cream stand and lots more.
Excellent variety of grocery along with take out in the summer. Gluten free fish and chips are amazing, hard to find elsewhere! There’s many local vendors and made on site items.
Amazing selection of local food and handcrafted items. The sandwich shop is great, too. I’d take a photo but I ate it all already:)
Great bakery items but have to go early. The floral section had a great selection of plants for late summer planting, well priced too.
The freshest of everything. A practical yet enjoyable mix of a market, cafeteria, ice cream parlour, crafts / home store, garden centre, and even liquor buried inside! Don’t get too distracted and make sure to check out the butcher and creamery across the street
Love love love their lunch specials, bakery and ice cream shop
Great as always. A bit disappointed there wasn't much baking left to pick from when I got there but what I did get was very fresh.
Country charm. Amazing local produce
My husband and I were there today. We have been to Masstown on two other occasions in the last few years. I found it didn’t have a lot of local and was somewhat drab! We were hungry so decided to have a midday lunch. I asked the server if the seafood chowder was good and was it creamy or more of a broth/soupy version. She looked at me like I had two heads and said I love it...and all the people coming here from PEI say it’s the best they ever had! Well sorry it’s not the best I ever had! I have never been so full of gas and felt so sick to my stomach like I do as of this minute 10:49 pm! Will never eat there again! And, never believe a lady who says the people of PEI think it’s the best chowder ever! Trust me it’s not!!
A great variety of seasonal produce at reasonable prices. Literally something for everyone!! Besides the produce they have a thoughtfully stocked gift shop, a liquor store, bakery, ice cream shop & a lunch area with cafeteria style offerings...all under 1 roof. In the lighthouse is a fresh & frozen fish shop attached to a patio with seating for the Fish Boat serving generously portioned haddock & chips...in my top 5 for local fish & chips. Across the street is a butcher shop selling local meats & a Creamery with fresh milk & an amazing assortment of cheese. So prices are a bit steep but there are some really high quality products at reasonable prices as well.
Great place. Has everything just like an old country store. Usually very busy but you never have to wait long. Food and coffee is good. Bakery items are very tasty and priced right. Fresh produce is excellent. They have a gluten free section which is great. And their gift shop is loaded with all kinds of interesting things. Just love it here.
Great bakery, and grocery has some unique items. I stop, everytime I pass, for awesome ice cream at a fair price.
Great stop. Had a wide range of products. As I recall the espresso was a little pricey but other things great!
Not just a waypoint but a destination. Great café with fresh tasty food, excellent value. Good grocery store with local produce (NS apples), local food products (especially jams and preserves) and Nova Scotia wines, aling with a gift shop with unique affordable holiday gifts. Doughnuts are amazing, and so fresh. Now there is a creamery cheese shop and deli across the way. Can't wait to return. Been coming here for close to 50 years - so exciting to see how it grows every year!
I always love stopping here. Local and fresh produce and meats. Their Ice cream is the best.
Love their food, chowder and ice cream.
Great place to stop for a bite to eat and to buy local produce. They have a ton of local products along with a deli, fresh baked breads and sweets, ice cream and a cafeteria style restaurant.
This is a charming place to visit. It's great for groceries as well as local produce. Lots of variety! But, as is typical, beware the gift shop and nursery! Lots and lots of interesting items, but Much cheaper at Walmart!
Best place for seafood, meat, produce, baking all in one place! Family owned and operated!!
Great market! The main market, the butcher, the creamery and fish market are all great. Worth a stop!
Fresh produce and baked goods. Busy but fast checkouts.
Butcher shop is great, great meats. Plant shop is fantastic, always reasonable priced and good sales.
We never, ever miss a chance to stop in at the Masstown Market when we are heading to Halifax.. It has a lovely gift shop full of neat knickknacks.. A grocery store, liquor store and a greenhouse.. The best part of all, however, is their Deli. They have loads of yummy looking pastries. You can also order food from their kitchen and stay to eat
Lots of fresh and local foods to choose from. Produce had great prices. Delicious assortment of baked goods and breads. Deli counter awesome.
I don't know if maybe I'm visiting at the wrong time of day but I've stopped 3 times in the past few months and each time all that's left for baked goods are a couple bags of whole wheat buns and bread :(
Masstown, the ever growing local market. A one stop shop for everything you need including bakery, garden center, restaurant and Ice Creamery. Across the road the new butchery and creamery are open. The butchery is top notch and worth the visit. The creamery has cheeses from all over the world along with many made in house. They have cheese curds in various flavours too. Best outside of QC. I've found.
Great way to spend a Saturday afternoon browsing for baked goods, fresh groceries and an ice cream cone. The best fish and chips around are right next door too.
Masstown Market gave me vibes somewhere between farmer’s market, grocery store and souvenir shop (and that’s a good thing!). There was lots to see and do here, I haven’t been to Nova Scotia in years and this is a pleasant new spot to discover! I would recommend stopping by if you are in the area!
Very clean, beautiful goods, fresh foods, great prices & friendly staff. I recommend you check it out ????
Used to work here when it was a lot smaller and oh has if grown in the past few years. The groceries are still just as good as they used to be, and the new deli and creamery sections have a fantastic selection for pretty much any meat or …
The go to market in central Nova Scotia. Local farm supplies fresh produce. Bakery on site, NSLC location as well as other businesses covering all 4 food groups.
Nice place to visit
Masstown Market is a great place to visit! They have great food and a great gift market area!
Always a great place to stop. Clean washrooms, great ice cream, deli bakery hot meals and more. Great staff.
So over rated. Do not buy the lemon blueberry rolls from the bakery. They were all under cooked. We had to throw them out. The coconut cream pie was less disappointing but was not topped with cream. It was more like a Fluff and cream combo. …
Nice spot to stop along the highway. Good places to get food and gifts. Could be useful to have some kind of crosswalk between the two shopping centers
Huge selection and great store-made food. Wonderful local produce, gardening supplies and plants in the proper seasons, unique crafts, clothing, gifts, NSLC, appetizing hot meals and salads, a good bakery, very clean public washrooms. An overall excellent business. I always stop in on trips through NS.
I used to really enjoy coming here when it was a little more quaint. The food and baked goods are still good but it is always crowded when we go there now. It is good for a quick pitstop or for their ice cream but you will need your patience.
Make sure to grab your dinner/supper there - great food!
Although I can remember when it was a really small single building with a rough wooden floor, the market has grown into such an adventure shopping experience. It always had the amazing ice cream bar and fresh fruits and vegetables but now with the addition of so many wonderful products, it's a real experience to go and discover new things each time you go
Always a great variety of fresh produce and bake goods. Would definitely recommend if you're driving by to stop in.
Love this place so much, great for fresh produce, ice cream, local meats, fresh bread, plus a bunch of other interesting nik naks. Oh and theres an LC in the back which is also very handy.
Wide selection of local produce. Always busy this time of year but worth the wait.
Best cinnamon donuts ever. And if you call ahead to order, you can avoid the bitter disappointment of showing up and having them be all sold out.
I always have an exceptional experience every single time. The amount of scallops you get for the price is phenomenal. French fries are cooked to a golden brown with the perfect amount of crispiness. Staff are friendly/ helpful with …
Staff were not overly friendly, one was not wearing a mask while serving people, so it was apparent that person was not happy from the non happy face. Sigh, when you take a Sunday drive to Masstown to get an ice cream, it isn't always great I guess.
Absolute must stop over if you are driving through Truro! It is a cute little market that has a little bit of everything - gift shop, local wines, particularly wines from Nova Scotia, groceries, ice cream shop and a cafeteria. I was lucky …
Great veggies and fish. The grocery section has things you won't find at other stores and the prices are very reasonable. I always enjoy stopping in here for a coffee and some shopping, and it's worth going out of the way to Masstown Market on the drive from Halifax to Cape Breton!
Delicious place to stop for lunch. Lots of good options and just about everyone had ice cream. I had the mini lobster roll and lactose free chocolate ice cream which were both good. Big chunks of delicious lobster in the roll. Prices are reasonable.
I love this Store. It has such a variety of homemade goods, a gift shop with reasonable prices, grocery items and lots of plants (flowers, shrubs and trees) that are unique from other garden nurseries when in season. Hungry? You have to try out the restaurant that is located in an actual Lighthouse with fresh and locally grown foods, it will be a hard time to choose what to order. Huge parking lot, wheelchair accessible and public washrooms. It is the most popular spot in Masstown.
Last visit had an issue with an item I bought. The response from management was less than satisfactory. Between poor customer service and high prices. I'll only go back for the Ice cream, NSLC, and That Dutchmans Cheese.
Good place to take walk e buy some suvenirs.
The food is pretty good but the customer service is awful. The cashier rushed our order through without even asking for billing instructions. They also were pushy and rude. I watched the cashier later walk away from the till when a customer was ready to pay. The customer stood there for at least five minutes bewildered because no one told her that someone else was coming to the cash. Also they ran out of white bread at 6 o'clock on a Saturday evening, and the whole wheat was quite dry. On the bright side, the fruit salad was good.
It's a small grocer, but I really like it. The gift shops are alright. They also have a great cafeteria with seating area. Good for pit stops, and ice cream too! The bakery is worth checking out in my opinion.
Always love stopping in at Masstown when driving through. Great place to grab a snack, fresh local produce and delicious dairy products. Only complaints would be that they are often have little to no stock in the bakery section almost every …
I've had flower delivery for nursery load here. They were quick and easy to get in and out. They load you right in the parking lot nearby their garden center. Generous staff !!
Fresh and awesomely priced produce, baked goods are tasty however I found them a little pricey last time I was in. Always a busy spot! The new meat and dairy market are pretty awesome to check out as well.
This place is always a favourite stop, but typically is so overrun with customers I find it overwhelming. However, this last time, it wasn’t that way and even had available parking spots in front. The sad part is that this is 2020 and the …
OMG seafood pie! And pretty much everything else you can imagine from fall local produce to alcohol. Home decor to gardening equipment.
Always a great selection of local goodies at the market to shop while you're stopped for gas. Pass by and stop on my way to Newfoundland over several times now. Blueberry anything is recommended
Best Seafood chowder and Scotsburn ice cream :) great for groceries and gifts too.
A great little place to shop, great gifts in both the garden centre and the gift shop, a farm market, a traditional butchers, cheese store and a restaurant all right off the highway. And don't forget the lighthouse!
My wife and I stop at Masstown quite often on our way to Halifax from Fredericton. We've stopped there at all different times throughout the day. And on many occasions the bakery shelves are pretty lite. Which in itself is frustrating. But …
Great for local produce and people are friendly. They have a huge variety of baked goods, prepared meals and the kids love the ice cream. New round-a-bout and highway traffic makes it difficult to get in and out of that is the only downside.
Very interesting place lots of selection anything from garden supplies to fresh fish. It can be very crowded something to keep in mind.
We stopped in on the way to Moncton for some fresh vegetables decent selection. We also stopped on the way back home for a bite to eat. The wait was a bit long but the fish was worth it, we didn't have the chips so can't comment on those!
Love masstown!! They have everything from cute and quirky gifts, to fresh fruits and veggies, ice cream, baked goods and deli foods! Great quality no matter what you're there for
Beautiful crafts ,great food!small bakery ! It's more of a tourist attraction place .
This stop has a great market, wine shop and gift shop. The hot food is delicious and there is also a decent deli. If you are looking for cheese or dairy, ice cream too, Masstown creamery and butcher are worth the visit. Prices are also so reasonable. Love this place!
This a crazy place! There is an amazing grocery store and bakery, they sell seasonal decoration, liquor, nicknacks, and they have a restaurant and garden centre. All the produce is fresh and vibrant, the baked goods are handmade and delicious, the food in the restaurant is terrific. There isn't much you could fault...except for the sea of insane people running around. The parking lot is always busy and can be difficult to find a space, but it's well worth the aggravation, trust me and check this place out.
This place is a perfect rest stop on the highway. It's a good place to grab some baked goods, a hot lunch or even ice cream. Great skinny too!
Best chowder in Maritimes. I had a scallop in chowder that was 1 " in diameter and 1/2" thick!! Deeeeeelicious ! Great fresh biscuit with chowder!
Always a favorite stop. Great shop, bakery, and restaurant.
Ever since they installed the fast chargers, I stop here every time I come through. I can't believe I never stopped here before. It is a great spot! The market has great prices on fresh foods, the Creamery and Butcher shop have amazing products and the gift shop always has new and unique items. Did I mention there is a DC fast charger for EV's! Awesome place.
Great combination of food groceries and gifts. Prices are good and the sandwiches massively filled.
Very clean and careful. I found everything I wanted. It is slways a joy to stop there on our way home from the north shore. Usually we get ice cream but instead we bought items to eat as supper. Delicious szndwiches snd wraps.
First Timmer at this place. The baked biscuits made me wish I had bought more. The produce was good blueberry's were fantastic.lots of little treasure's. Would recommend a stop if in the area.
Always a stop when travelling from NB to Halifax. Great smoked pork chops available and fresh fruit always ready. Try the homemade bread and donuts. A must stop for us.
Loved the Creamery and the Butcher Shop. Excellent meat counter. Happily sliced me up some thick cut bacon. A Nova Scotia landmark!
Fruit and vegetables are good, you can pick up wine. Who can argue with that? I have never eaten there. The food looks plain.
Great place but very pricey. Also crowded.
Such a sweet shop. Please check out the bakery, you will not regret it. Roast beef sandwich was perfect the bread will keep you coming back.
Great success story with unlimited potential, very impressive local produce and item variety however.... the customer service and quality was lacking greatly today. I'll go back, of course, as one bad day does not represent the operation in its entirety but I would highly suggest providing better staff direction in both leadership and responsibility. Those staff familiar with how to work were definitely covering for those lacking; even when requesting other staff's assistance, those capable were left to stand alone.
Groceries, produce, gifts and more. Butcher and creamery across the road beside the Petro-Canada.1
Great place. A farmer's market, liquor store, delicatessen, and garden gift center all under one roof. It is a wonderful experience.
Great store with a really cool and eclectic mix of items. During the high season it can be a bit unbearable because of the tourist crush, so off season visits are really better...prices are better too. …
So many things to choose from and such great variety ! Friendly staff. Parking is a bit difficult but not too bad if you take your time !
Returned after ten years and it keeps improving. I hope it won't be another ten!
I got tired of hearing my friends rave about this place so the wife and I decided to check it out. It's ok and all and I'm sure the locals love it, but I wasn't blown away. I guess hearing all the hype kind of skewed my expectations a bit. I've visited countless numbers of markets across the country and to me this was kind of run of the mill. I'd probably pop in if I was in the area, but I wouldn't drive out of my way again to go there.
Love stopping here on travels to NS. They have all kinds of different things and every thing I've bought has been good. Fair prices but usually super packed no matter the time of day.
Definitely great place to stop when you're on the road. Enjoy the cafeteria's selection of flavourful fresh and fairly priced items, then shop for crafts, groceries, produce and plants. Relaxing experience.
Love Masstown market . My favorite us the seafood pie , very tasty. Lots of other great thing too . Apples , fresh produce and lunch stuff also.
Love the grocery and boutique sections of this business. There is a restaurant as well. They carry butter and milk made from in their creamery from local source milk. They carry a range of products from German ginger cookies to local …
This little market is always busy, and with good reason. They have pretty much everything from regular groceries and alcohol to touristy things like souvenirs. They also have a great deli style restaurant with wonderful soups, sandwiches and salads. And did I mention the ice cream? Too many flavors to mention!
You can buy everything from a garden gnome to food, alcohol, specialty meats and seafood. Staff are great, but on busy weekends, it's Madhouse Market. The rear entrance/exit has both bathrooms, the ice cream cone line-up, the cafeteria line-up, an ATM, and the Deli pre-made items counter. Keep your elbows up!
This is one of those vintage places that you seem to remember always going to on arduous road trips with your grandparents but the funny or nifty things you saw along the way and the quirky memories of times now long past stick in your head as cherished memories. There is nostalgia in even the cheesy biscuits or the massive vollection of pumpkins, ripe before their time. You'll walk through those doors, smell the air you've forgotten for 20 years, and suddenly be reminded of the simple things you often ignored and now can't ever get back.
There's a place there that sells awesome clams...best I ever tasted yet
Great little spot to stop on your travels. Lots of local goods and a spot to grab a bite. This is one of our usual pit stops when travelling.
Masstown Market is an iconic stopping place. Great produce, stores, the creamery, butcher shop, ice cream, fish, restaurant, place to stretch your legs. Large focus on local. Great place to stop!
Best curry potatoe salad. Lunch to go!
Legendary landmark in Masstown N.S. Great soup, salad, sandwich menu. Aroma Maya Coffee. Beautiful seating area. Plenty of fresh local produce. Wide range of items in the gift shop. Great spot!
I've always enjoyed stopping by to enjoy the excellent Seafood Chowder, fresh-baked buns, and choose from the large selection of ice cream flavours for dessert. The gift shop has a wide selection of local goods; from postcards and other touristy stuff, to jewelry and hand-made soaps. The garden section is always a delight for the eyes. Definitely worth a stopover!
This is a great place to eat, shop and find unique gifts. I will continue to stop here every chance I get.
Very busy during the summer mouths , food cost also goes up but the fish truck is fairly good and the meats are wonderful so is the veggies and buns but no big savings .
Love this place. If you are lucky there will be baked goods for purchase. Wish we had one of these in Halifax!!!
These guys are great. They have a selection of everything - most importantly Dutchman's cheese if you can't make the trip to Upper Economy. There's even a fish 'n chip place next door.
A convenient stopover to and from Halifax. Just don't expect a massive amount of variety.
I love going to the creamery here. Their milk is the best. My husband was excited for the butcher as he didn't know it was apart of the Market. A delightful surprise for him.
this is an awesome place. it has every thing from great ice creams, home made breads, scones biscuits ,delicious homemade soups ,fresh desserts cheesecakes.Fresh roasted coffee and amazing Meats to take home plus it even has a full-on grocery store it also has a fish and chip place which had a lineup that was way too long to wait in. it's a very amazing place and lots of touristy things to buy.
Great fish and chips, shrimp and chips Portions are large!
I always enjoy their donuts and breads from the bakery. It’s nice that the ingredients are on the packages because we have allergies in the family. They’ve also got fresh local produce!
Fantastic place to stop for a hot meal or ice cream at any time of day or year. Great shopping finds for quirky gifts, local produce, and casual clothes. The butcher and dairy across the street have a wide variety of choices available.
very cool local products and a fun place to stop by if you're in the area. will be coming back in the summer for more of a selection!
Very good, variety of produce. F eau veggies and fruits, homemade treats. Family friendly. Highly recommend if passing by.
What a fantastic stop to make. Stock up on fresh baked goods, veggies, booze and get something to eat!
Really good tea biscuits and cute plant pots for a good price!
Always too busy with sub par produce when I've been there. I think you need to be there when it opens to get quality items.
Love masstown, stop everytime we pass it. The new butcher and cremerie has a great selection of local meats and dairy. The christmas market in the atrium is really lovely. Visited twice.
I love coming here! The smoked cheese curds are amazing, there is always something new and different at the Market.
It's not a road trip past Truro without stopping by masstown market at least once. Grocery, creamery, seafood, sandwiches, other local goods and ice cream.
Awesome place. Wonderful bakery, lunch menus, veggies and gifts.
Great selection of groceries and take-out options. Several niche items but still have all the staples. The gift shop is also very charming. A typical weekend here is a total zoo and parking is madness but the pastries are worth it!
How can you drive by without stopping in? Friendly service, awesome selection of local products. The food is excellent and a great value for the money, you've got to try the chowder!
Good spot to buy veggies love the pin selection
Great selection and friendly people. It wasn't busy when we went, but many people have told us it can get really busy. Seafood and butcher are musts.
As a child this was one of my favorite stops on our usual typical family summer road trips. Now is an adult, when I stop in it brings back every single memory of every single time I was there. They're truly is nowhere else on Nova Scotia like the Mass Town market. I am certain that every native Nova Scotian, no matter where they live now, always has a good memory of the masstown market.
Every time I drive past the area, I pulled into Mass town Market for it's amazing Bakery. There are a variety of scones and tea biscuits hang on, and they're sweet rolls are the tastiest thing to bring to a dinner that you're invited to. A must visit as you pass by on the trans-canada highway. They also have a great deli and ice cream bar. And there's a picture of Canada and Guardian Pharmacy across the street.
Wonderful market! So much to see and excellent food. Not far off the highway, so it makes a perfect pitstop.
Love it although it's a bit expensive their homemade bread is the best next to my grandmothers
it's a nice place they have lots to choose from veggies meats breads and pastry and there's a liquor store and they have our stuff like ornaments.
Great place for baked goods, cheese and meats. I have not had any fish from there. Nice produce as well
Always love the market. Food is fresh. Bakery and produce are what brings me back over and over again. I am so lucky to live so close.
My family loves stopping in here whenever we are close by and have also been known to make the 2 hour trip just to come here. The produce is excellent and the ice cream and food counter have always had good food as well. As part of this, the fish and chips at the lighthouse are stellar! The fries a as good as the fish but the fish sets a pretty high bar.
This is a MUST STOP. It combines a full service grocery market specializing is excellent local produce, a custom-made sandwich and soup bar [ excellent fish chowder], excellent ice cream, a bakery, creamery, butchery, fresh local fish shop and a fish and chips style take out. Call ahead to have your food available on arrival at the "chip boat" A free kennel is available for the family dog. Outside picnic tables and acres of well groomed lawns.
A very convenient location for picking up groceries and wine on our way camping. The large RV parking area at the back entrance makes it easy to get in and out.
This place is always crazy busy yet the staff are always so pleasant & helpful. 2 scoop ice cream was required today on our drive back from Amherst Shore !
The last 2 years there are never any baked goods left when we visit. I don't know if they're short staffed or that they can't keep up. I used to stop every time we passed by but never any cookies so we are going to stop. :( on the plus side they still have ice cream and soup.
Always a great stop for lunch. Homemade Everything ????
Great shopping complex. Don't drive by! Great restaurant. Grocery Store! Gardening supplies & plants! Great gift selections! We stop every chance we get near the operation - friendly resource for the community. Always fresh vegetables! A +10 Nova Scotian operation!
The fish and chips are amazing here! And are truely gluten free! Climb the lighthouse and learn the history
Coming from Ontario, where we have markets like St Jacobs, I was a bit underwhelmed by Masstown. It was highly recommended to us by a few different people, but it didn't appear to be anything more than a boutique style grocery store. We spent about 10 minutes inside and didn't really find anything we couldn't buy at our local stores. The creamery and butcher across the street, on the other hand, we extremely impressive and had some really great products. Would not go out of our way to visit again; but would definitely drive there for the butcher.
Makes for a lovely day trip. Great veggies and a fun gift shop.
Great store - really really love it. I will never go again. It's too too too busy. So this rating is not for the store, but to warn that if you go, at any time on any day, it's nutso in there.
Great selection of meats, cheeses, fresh produce, gifts, clothing...a bit of everything. Well worth the trip
Great store for local products. I lived down the street as a child so it's great to see how much they have grown. Always a good pitstop when on adventures. Great food. Ran into an old friend who I hadn't seen in years. There's something nostalgic about this place in the best possible way.
Masstown Market is known as a destination that's a pretty high akalade for a farm market. It has pretty much some of everything. Great fish and chips awesome dairy bar. Grocery that is well run and even has an out door spray that can make you picnics and outings more enjoyable by providing an all natural way to keep pests at bay.
My wife and I visited yesterday at mid-day, as we often do while passing by. We've always liked the great selection of fresh local produce and baking. It was a madhouse. While everyone was wearing a mask, the place was packed and there was no effort to maintain social distancing that we could see. The circulation arrows were marked on the floor, but ignored by both patrons and staff. Though some visitors apparently had never heard of social distancing, it wasn't possible those that had because of the high volume of people. This was clearly a case where the Market's management needed someone on the door (as stores in Halifax do) limiting the number of patrons at any given time. Much as we love the Masstown Market, this was a serious health hazard.
Masstown market is a must If you're rolling through Nova Scotia! The selection of goods here is awesome! The staff are always friendly and fast. It can get very busy during peak seasons but the staff handle it very well. I always pop in on …
The market is very busy on the weekends. Much better shopping experience on a weekday.
I've been a customer since its was a vegetable stand, bakery & (most importantly for me at the time) an ice cream stand. Wow! Amazing growth since then. Great produce, local meats & bakery. As a celiac, I'm taking that last comment from my friends & family, as they don't have gluten free baked goods. They do, however, have "Knot on the Bay" which includes gluten free fish & chips. That part is only open late Spring too early Fall, but it's one of my favorite parts.
Love giving Clinics at Venture Stables. Great barn full of nice lesson horses and learning riders.
I stop into the market almost every time I go through the area. Such great homemade goods, and the products and produce are always good. This is a picture of the seafood casserole pie I had on 09/24/2017. Now, I want to drive back for more! It might just be worth the two hours by car! Thank you to the local owners for keeping this lil' gem alive and thriving. Kudos to you and the hospitable people you hire. Cheers!
Nice market, expensive on most items. Enjoyed the chilli and sea food chowder bowls
Great lunches, ice cream, groceries. Fabulous baked goods.
Great store , almost everything you need, and a gift shop to browse
Love the local produce. It is so important to support local. Always impressed with the selection. Parking could be better, but what can you expect from such a popular place. Great for families and those with disabilities. If they were to build a little playground...whoa!
Great Place to stop and eat. Good General Store for all your home and travel needs.
Love this place, good food and great seafood and tons of trinkets. Butcher shop and creamery, just a great place to stop in and check out
Lots of selection. Build you own sandwich is nice and well priced.
Great food in the cafeteria and it wasnt too busy.Nice to be in Masstown Market again
One of Nova Scotias best spots for fresh vegetables, local meats and cheeses and just an overall great local experience. The soup and sandwich bar is also great for a quick bite. The staff are friendly and you can always find something. You won't leave empty handed
Great market!! Lots of local fresh produce and fresh breads/baked goods
One of the best markets in all of Nova Scotia! Every time you go here there are people from all over Nova Scotia and even as far away as New Brunswick that are visiting and have made the trip specifically to go to Masstown Market. We stopped every time we drive by! Always trying to get donuts but lots of times they are sold out by the time we make it there... That tells you just how popular they are. The produce is fresh and delicious and most times sold from farms that are near to the market. A great way to support local!
We had a great visit to Masstown. It was our first time to enjoy a one piece fish and chips. Yummy and the fish was so fresh.
This is a great location. You can pick up pretty much anything that you need here. I just find that in the summer it is so busy, that sometimes it's not much fun. The fish and chips on there Wharf is absolutely delicious. But if you can't find a seat with umbrella to eat at it ruins the whole experience
The location is good, plenty of free parking with variety of market. The area need more restaurants and other food services. Is good clean but need more improvement
They've got lots of stuff from gift items to food. One quibble is that their salads are imported from California. Not good for trying to commit to keeping our food sourcing to within xx kms. Nova Scotia grows food, maybe not pre-prepared salads in the winter, but we all have to try harder to vote with our wallets on sustainable issues such a food sourcing.
Great farmers market that you can find maby things and sit and eat also. Edition: Last two times I visited, thought the toilet could've been better: cleaner, more ergonomically designed, and fully operational (last time only two cabins were allowed, on a busy Sat). Some cashiers could share a smile or warm welcome..
The meat shop has a great selection
Love that place. Always busy and friendly. Good baked foods on hand.
Always stop here when travelling. A enjoyable pitstop, for food, groceries and visit their gift shop. Their food is excellent.
Great produce selection and good prices
Bakery shelves were empty. Really too many people inside, difficult to get around.
Nice to just stop and breathing the fresh smells Spent to much money on to much good yumminess
This market has great staff,,, friendly an helpful I recommend this market for all
Tourist spot, with Tourist prices! Busy spot, nice variety, but be prepared to pay steep prices.
Great Market! It has a bit of everything. Nursery garden plants to clothing and food plus more. Has some specialty food items Wonderful little gem.
I imagined that it would be like Halifax Seaport Market or farmers market, but it is almost like a grocery store. We tried seafood pie, chowder and latte. The pie was excellent and I would recommend it. We ate it at the Wentworth Falls, which I highly recommend you visit.
The staff were very friendly! The clothes are way over priced! I bought the same they have for 49.95 but I paid 34.95 in Lunnenberg!
Great visit. Got lots of yummy fruits and veggies. One thing was that no one was adhering to the covid rules...like just me, noticing everyone non distancing and not following the arrows even when the security guard said to make sure you followed the arrows.
Like the place, friendly staff, due to reduced sales some items are not available late in the day. Good that they are not wasting things.
The best fish and chips around, well worth the drive there or stopping in when passing through
Beat blueberries and strawberries from Millen farms. They are the best in NS. Highly recommend them. My 4 year and 2 year old grand daughters notice the difference in quality from other sources.
Always a nice place to shop. We like to support our local community. Love their fresh bread, rolls etc.
Go there often. Fresh foods, fruit, and baked goods. Always busy, especially this time of year. Clean, staff very knowledgeable and helpful.
Love shopping here everytime we get to Nova Scotia
Excellent fish and chips. Had 1 piece and I couldn't finish it. Very fresh . Very busy. Nice outside sitting area. Only complaint was hand sanitizer was empty
Awesome place Great selection and service
Beautiful, fresh market! Amazing assortments of baked goods, local cheese and meats.
Only popped in for lunch. Did not spend any time there. Food is good.
Great quality & selection, especially for those of us that like to support local products. Good for one stop shopping. We were shopping for produce and some items were not priced so makes deciding what to purchase harder (didn't want to lug to many items to cashier for price check).
I always find something fresh to buy. It's too bad they are sold out so early some days of baked goods but glad so many people are shopping local. I have been shopping here for over 40 years. If you haven't been here before there are many areas within the two or three buildings to check out.
What can I say....love the market!
Beautiful store good service from happy helpfull personal..i recommand it to all it really worth's it
Everything I bought was great. One exception it's a waste of money to buy the raisin bread. There aren't any raisins in it.A few sprinkled on top,it's pretty much brown bread.I won't buy it again.
Love stopping here when travelling. Fresh breads are so yummy. All the sweets are so good. Stop for lunch fresh sandwiches and chowders are so good. They serve also with biscuit or chips. The salad choices are great. Plus you can get some groceries for your travels service is always good here. Enjoy!!
Went to buy some fish ( haddock). Was twice as expensive as our usual market in Digby. Someone is making a lot of money!
Great stopping spot. Lots of options to keep all your crew happy!
I absolutely love this place. Friendly staff. Lots of fresh veggies , seasonal stuff. Unique jewelry. My only complaint is lately every time we go in. There's next to no baked goods. So if you're making a long trip just for baked goods. You may be disappointed. Maybe try calling in advance.
Stopped there today to pick up a lobster pot pie and some seasoned pizza dough. From past visits,I know they have tasty meals and a great variety of ice cream cones. Also you will find fresh local produce and baking as well as gifts or souvenirs. Washrooms are clean.
We had heard of the fish boat and went for a fish and chip and we were not dissappointed. There was a lineup for a reason so make sure you have time to wait a bit (really not bad) the fish pieces are huge, tasty and barely greasy. Inside the market you can find all sorts of treasures. The bakery is off the hook, the boutique has so many different things at affordable prices. The produce items are fresh. It's a definite stop for us when we visit Halifax
Always busy lots of good fresh food fruit and vegetables
I used to stop here every year & loved it but this year not so much. Something has changed. The fish was dried out like it had been sitting around for hours. Horrible fries. I won't be back.
This location off of the Trans Canada highway in the beautiful province of Nova Scotia is a must visit. This full service area has a restaurant, farmers market, fish monger as well as a take out restaurant in an old refurbished fishing vessel. This take out features the best gluten free fish and chips anywhere IMO. There is also a gas station across from the market.
Excellent produce, very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
I hadn't been to the Masstown Market in years. My last visit was when there was a hotel across the road (which I know is dating me). While the store itself had a fair few people inside, everyone was regulated to wearing masks, and there were plenty of signs about maintaining social distancing. A gentleman at the front of the store was only allowing a certain amount of people in at a time, and there was a separate area for those who were just there for ice cream. I had no concerns about how they were handling the covid-19 situation. I felt safe, and welcome in the shop, as well as in the restaurant side. I got to try the seafood pie for the first time, and it's probably the best meal I've had in a long, long time. The staff were helpful, and although they had run out of a few things that I would have liked to have picked up, I was NOT disappointed with their prices, the quality of the products, or the store itself. A lot of people seem to be complaining about very minor things, and not remembering that we're all in this pandemic together. Great to see a local business thriving. Can't wait to go again :)
This place is over priced, with bad products. I used to work in the bakery, i left and since then I buy nothing from here, I've seen what it goes through. The owner and management doesn't care about anyone but themselves, if employees are …
So many local treasures. I loved the cheese section. The fresh hot roast chickens were the best I've tasted. There's also a cafe.
Always stop at the masstown market for supplies and to check out their gift store and I happen to drop in for fish and chips when there was a singer singing some wonderful Stan Rogers songs
The seafood chowder was delicious. They have the best homemade rolls. Always stock up. 0
Produce isn't as fresh as you would think it would be, especially considering the high prices. Staff are always friendly and happy though :)
Was at the market .but was at Tims Hortons .and get disrespected from some of their staff. So no star rating frm me .and like i told the manager months ago and nothing changed
Stop here every time I go to Nova Scotia awesome awesome Variety is second to none and freshness is wonderful
My husband and I were in shock. Having our lunch and watching around the area. One of the staff finally cleared the tables and took the tray only. She was not wearing a mask and did not spray or wipe anything down, just took the tray. This was the week that heightened covid regulations went into effect.
Covid . Masks manditory which I prefere. Stopped for Ice Cream on long Journey. Very nice ice cream Enjoyed our ice cream on an outside table.
Love this place. I stop as often as i can when travelling through for work. The chowder is amazing!
Always a treat to stop by. They have great food, best grocery for veggies, (more expensive than most others) but is always local when available in season. Usually packed during late spring, summer and fall.
A must visit stop when traveling Nova Scotia. Amazing bakery, great food, fresh produce, souvenirs, and best icecream in NS. Meat Market, Seafood Market, and Creamery all close, plus more not mentioned.
I know it was a Sunday, and I know this place is a destination stop, but the bakery shelves were almost bare. In fact, there wasnt a single loaf of bread available to purchase. The prices for Produce is extremely high.
Great market and restaurant that is a perfect stop to get a little or a lot. We stopped there coming back from Wentworth skiing and the selection of food and deli products was awesome. The service was great and the prices were very fair. I do wish the desserts were in smaller portions though, I do not need a giant $5 brownie or cake slice. Definitely will be stopping every time we drive by from now on
Beautiful fresh local strawberries, and veggies. Helpful staff, sad no fresh baked goods at time of visit but they were coming out later, next time!
Amazing ice cream selection A treasure one must go to when visiting nova Scotia i go there offten delicious baked goods meats and vegetables are local as far as I know get seafood chowder mix to make your own or just have theirs the creamery is awesome and lots to try and enjoy
This is a "must" for anyone who's going in NS for first time. Nice market where you can actually eat fresh and hot food. Petro Canada across the street with clean bathrooms and an Express Tim. Amazing fish n chips at the restaurant on the side of the "Catch of the Bay"market. Two thumbs up!!
Lovely fresh produce. A large variety of products to purchase, although the crafts etc are very over priced. I was glad I got to the market as I've been wanting to for several years.
Not much in the way of food they don't have here. Full grocery selection. Lots of freshly baked breads, buns, cookies, etc. Good selection of fruits and berries. Deli bar, sandwiches, peperoni. Gift shop with locally made crafts. Inside liquor and beer store. Nice place to stop for an ice cream cone too with many selections.. Lots of seating inside and covered picknic tables around the premises.
Certainly not what I expected. We stopped on our way home from a weekend getaway. Its big enough for sure. We had something to eat at the sandwich bar type thing. I had a turkey sandwich I asked for bacon on it and she looked at me like I had two heads. Just stared and stared so I said I guess that's a no. Then she said breakfast was over at 11. Just to let you know I waited in the line for half a hour. When I ordered it was 10:55. It was just ok it hit the spot cause I was hungry. Needless to say I'll wait till Truro next time.
I agree with one of the other reviews I have read. They need some covid education! I thought I would be waiting in a lineup before entering. But no lineup, the parking lot was packed as usual, and so was the store! After I entered, I wasn't long leaving. Unsafe conditions, very disappointed ????
Get the ice cream and baked goods. Its soooo good.
Stopped at the bakery chocolate pie, Cinnamon donuts and coconut rolls excellent
It's a one stop all inclusive shopping experience! You can shop till you drop enjoying items for your outdoor surroundings to all of your indoor needs. Adding to this, you will also enjoy shopping for the freshest of local vegetables, fruits and baked goods. Then end your visit with a multitude of choices for a fabulous meal either at the market or just out the door at the amazing lighthouse fish market and restaurant. Before you get back on the road, you can enjoy a delicious huge ice cream from the ice cream parlor.????????
Went to see the car show on Friday night, nice turn out. Had some icecream and found a nice covered picnic table to enjoy! Great place to stop in, have lots of different options for food
Not following social distancing measures as well as not monitoring the amount of people in the building during COVID. My grandparents went in a month or so ago and said they felt very unsafe while there. I feel bad for the employees that work there and have to be put at risk because the owner is money hungry. I use to work here years ago and had very bad experiences with Lorrie J (the owner). There was so many times I left that place crying my eyes out because he would scream at me when we were closing up. All the other employees were great there. I really hate leaving bad reviews but I feel like I had to inform people. That being said I am grateful it is in the community to give people jobs because there is not very many jobs to choose from in this area of NS.
If you haven't been there yet you have to check them out.
An beautiful market with lots of variety including many local products and produce. You can find almost anything here, from fresh meats, to baked goods, delicious ice cream, regular grocery items, and even a garden center. Friendly service, too. Highly recommend!
What a wonderful place ❤ easy to find, parking is great ???? friendly helpful staff ????
Masstown rarely seems to disappoint! Whenever driving by we make it a habit to park and make a quick visit for either fresh produce, baked goods, or the occasional ice cream treat ???? We sometimes have a safe day when the bakery has sold out of something we want, but that's because they get so busy and do everything so well! If you haven't yet, you must add this to your list of places to stop when passing by
This has always been one of my favourite places to shop . I love the food there ESP. The fish n Chips. However, we stopped there yesterday ,and it was the first time I had been there since COVID 19 , and I was surprised at the few restrictions in place . There is no indication which shopping carts have been sanitized . The restaurant is closed off and ice cream area limited , but there are no arrows in the gift area or grocery area and the aisles are narrow. I ran into lots of people and it was awkward. There is no one standing by the washrooms sanitizing after you come out . I went over to the fish building and four staff members were standing right beside each other talking. There was no social distancing there ! I left feeling very disappointed .
The garden center is amazing. All the plants look very healthy and well cared for. The market is a fun place to go.
Lovely as usual. Didn't get there until mid afternoon, bakery was empty lol but we still had cinnamon rolls and coffee.
It is a bit of a trip from the city but well worth it. Fresh produce, fresh baking and on site ice cream? Sounds like a good trip to me! Not to mention the LARGE supply of shubs, trees, flowers and plants. I go out of my way to head to Masstown to check out what they have in stock long before I buy from any big box store.
Neat concept started as a veggie stand now it is a grocery store, bakery, deli, nslc store, coffee shop and cafiteria. Close to the highway for easy access and they also Have a fish market and a creamery (cheeses and the like).
We called there especially for the ice cream, making a slight diversion on our way to Cape Bretton. We had a wander around the store then got our super duper cones. The staff are always very nice and friendly too. Would recommend Masstown Market to anyone as a great place to visit.
We love this place! Everytime we travel to NS stopping at the Masstown Market is a must. Their Pizza Pescatore and Lobster Pies are absolutely delicious! Gotta have them!!!
Very disappointed I drove 2 hours for a large grocery store & a flower shop!!! ????????♀️
Love Masstown market. We always stop on our way to Parrsboro. The baked goods are delicious. The produce is fresh. The gift shop has so many unique things. The staff is excellent. Huge ice cream cones too!
Busy but not crowded except for garden center inside. Not much selection at bakery maybe due to no bus tour demands and cafe is closed.
This is a great stop. Personally to rate higher would require a unique atmosphere/ ambiance and specialty food. The food is very good, cafeteria style which is fine for a quick stop. There are good choices in the bakery, and selection in the grocery. Gift shop, alcohol available and seasonal green house choices. Overall if you have the time, it will become one of your favorite place to stop at.
Lovely market although the last couple if times the produce wasn't all that great
Great seafood selection, both fresh and frozen. Helpful staff. If you are in the neighborhood you should definitely stop here. I highly recommend this place!
This is a great place, very unique! Really great produce. Love everything about it but unfortunately it can be so busy that it is not enjoyable to navigate the store - almost impossible not to bump into people or get bumped into yourself. The checkout lines are also not set up for a large volume of traffic. We were there Sunday evening the Labor Day weekend and unfortunately decided to leave as it was not worth it to purchase the few items we were trying to pick up. My advice would be to try to visit the place on an off day to avoid tourist traffic.
First time visit, good selection of items. Some sold out however. Had the freshest turkey sandwich on the softest bread and found these flavored cheese curds a coworker had told me about sold at the market but made at the creamery across the street
Always a pleasure. Laurie and family have carved out a little slice of heaven! Love the cheese! And the pies... And the ice cream...and... Bringing the family for fish and chips on Wednesday...all the way from Fort St. John BC!
Great selection of fresh local produce.
I've been stopping at the MM for better than 40 years and have yet to be disappointed. Expect it to be very busy during the mid summer months but you can't beat the seafood chowder at the Catch of the Bay restaurant, it's worth the wait! …
Great spot love the fresh local produce in the summer. Baked goods are great but they sell out super early of the really good items. The seafood in the lighthouse has made me and other people I know very ill on a few occasions. Stick to the produce and you’ll be fine.
Adorable farmers market and a perfect stop if you're going between Halifax and Fredericton. There's a large farmers market and some fixed stores there, with a solid lunch/cafe option with delicious sandwiches, soups, and pies. During peak …
I love going to masstown and make sure to stop here every time I drive by
After shopping at the market and gift shop we decided to have fish and chips. The tables have been arranged to allow for social distancing however the procedure to order means that after you place your order you have to leave and pass all the others who are waiting to order.Wait time was reasonable ...fish was fresh and serving was large .However there was no ketchup...no napkins ..no lemon ..Selection for soft drinks was limited ...out of sprite ..ginger ale .We actually went back to the store and purchased ketchup ...6.49 a bottle !! Since they had containers for tartar sauce and coleslaw they should have ketchup...most people eat fish and chips with ketchup.
So many ice cream flavours...so little time. Its great here. A little expensive as its a central hub but nice variety. It says its the last exit before the toll. There is one more but worth the stop in to grab some food or fuel for the body. Never tried the hot meals but looks good when there is a 15+ person line up almost everytime I'm there.
Absolutely love this market! Always a must stop when passing by.
Always a good visit. But, well, 20 bucks for a 1 litre of seafood chowder is a bit pricey.
We went up for lunch we ordered fish and chips witch were excellent but we left early with our food because the dog in the pound in the yard handy the dining area barked steady. I said lets go I don't know why they have the dog pound that handy to people trying to have a nice meal and we came a long way to enjoy the outing.
Amazing historic market that has a bit of everything. Fish and chips at the lighthouse were excellent.
Stopped in for icecream. Servings were huge and great prices.
We always stop here when we go to nova scotia. Love looking around the gift shop. And the smell of cinnamon buns make my mouth water
I've lived in Debert all my life, and it's amazing to see how much the Market has bloomed over the years! Quite the tourist attraction now.
Always have fresh healthy looking produce and competitively priced The staff are always very friendly and helpful . The gift shop and garden centre are also what keeps me going back ????
First time there and I couldn't believe how busy it was. I was blown away. It was a little difficult to get around to see everything because of how busy it was, but we managed. Had just eaten a short time before going there so we …
Great market! Food is pretty good! I don’t know if I’d say the seafood chowder is the best in Nova Scotia, but it definitely has big chunks of seafood!
Great variety of fresh local produce. Fresh bakery goods. Nice little restaurant.
Nice stop along the trans Canada highway through the maritimes. Excellent ice cream and an even better price.
I found the Market to be very clean. The staff's, service and assistance was excellent. Food delicious!!
One stop shopping!! Produce here is the best in Nova Scotia! Prices consistently better than grocery stores. Also supports"local". I never drive by without stopping.
Fresh bakery goods, vegetables. Gift section. So much more.
