I’m new to the area and heard really good things about Simpson’s. Especially about how community minded the original owner and now the current owner, his son, are. I like to support local businesses, and purposely look for ones that stand in solidarity with and give back to their communities to spend my money at. That’s why I chose to go to Simpson’s today for the few things I needed to pick up. I had to check it out for myself.
I didn’t know I had chosen Customer Appreciation Day for my first visit, and wow, was it hopping in there! Despite how busy it was, the staff were friendly, helpful, and patient. I spent time in a few different areas (they seem to have everything!) and I was really impressed with how knowledgeable the staff in each department are.
I decided it would be a good place to look into some helpful aids for my elderly parents, and met Paula who indulged me in answering my huge list of questions and showing me different products available. She had great insights and in turn asked me some really good questions to make sure my parents are going to be helped in the best ways possible. You can tell she genuinely wants to help people and loves what she does!
I wish I could say that my entire experience at Simpson’s was positive. I was surprised and disappointed to see that on this National Day of Truth and Reconciliation only two of the roughly ten staff members I saw were wearing orange tops - Paula and one of the pharmacists. I would have thought that Mr. Simpson would have had shirts printed up to show that as a company, they are dedicated to the commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools. I hope to stop in there next year on this date and see a staff orange shirts all over the store. I would have given 6 stars if there had been a staff full of orange shirts.
