Never in my life have I experienced the kind of despicable treatment I experienced at this clinic.
My one-year-old was sick and his pediatrician’s office was closed, so I phoned this clinic to see what time they took patients until. The receptionist told me 3 p.m. It was 2:15 at the time, so I told her we’d hurry there as fast as we could.
I packed up my two kids under two and arrived at the clinic at 2:30. We were the only ones there. The receptionist phoned the doctor and asked if he would take a walk in patient. She explained my son’s symptoms and then hung up, telling me the doctor wouldn’t see him but I should take him to a hospital.
I would understand if the clinic was busy or we walked in at closing time, but I phoned ahead, I showed up half an hour before they supposedly stopped taking patients and the doctor obviously cared more about getting out for his weekend plans than helping a baby and a worried mother.
For anyone who’s ever had two kids under two (or two little kids, period) you would know taking them anywhere is a hassle - never mind rushing them to a clinic, taking them in and out of their car seats only to be refused service, or waiting for hours to be seen at a hospital.
The doctor could have done the decent thing and taken a few minutes out of his day to assess my son’s condition, especially since it was during working hours, rather than telling me to just take him to the hospital like it’s no big deal. And the receptionist shouldn’t be telling people the doctor takes patients until 3 p.m. and then we’re refused service after I’ve told her we would be coming.
The entire set up at this clinic is wrong and unethical. If you don’t care to help people (especially a sick baby!) choose a different profession!
On a positive note, we found another clinic/pharmacy and we were in and out with a filled prescription in under 10 minutes. Glad we didn’t spend hours at the hospital and found a clinic that cares about its patients! So thank you for leading us to an amazing clinic, unfortunately it wasn’t this one!
