2020-Jul-23: They surprised me by having the fire roasted canned tomatoes and San Marzano tomatoes I like. They even had Poblano peppers in a package, which I also liked, but when I opened the package at home a few minutes later, they turned out to be spoiled. The attractively coiled and displayed hot Italian sausage turned out to be a a bit dried out. :( Although they do their earnest best to keep pandemic shopping safe, the narrow aisles and other layout issues of the store make it near impossible. I'm from a region that doesn't really have any of these supermarket chain stores, so this is a highly anecdotal accounting of a single visit.

Good place to shop for groceries and it's in a convenient location. Parking from 3 - 6 is tough to find at times. The store is markedly more expensive on everyday items compared to some other big chain grocers. But, by the time I drive to the competition I've already spent my savings on gas. Good selection here as well.

Open 24 hours and a large store, including deli and florist. This is our go to when we need something at midnight or 5:00am. Friendly staff and large selection. Accessibility: The store is ground level with no stairs. There are bathrooms near the front and wide doors. The aisles are wide and pretty clear of abstacles.

Thrifties is OK. Average gluten free selection, average organic selection, average price, average everything. It appeals to no one in particular, or tries to appeal to everyone , it's an old school supermarket with no real love or specialty items to keep you interested in it. I would go somewhere else if thrifties wasn't everywhere. It is 24 hours though so i bumped it up to 3 stars

I shop here everyday generally on my way to work. What should be a convenient way to grab a quick breakfast or drink for the road to work is elongated by the fact that the 5 item or less checkout is being flooded by impatient shoppers with full baskets. No one tells them to use the regular tills and instead let them go through. This is frustrating as I am either to leave without my one or two items or I run a bit late for the buses. Doesn't matter if I'm early it still seems to happen on a daily. And when I comment on the fact that it's a 5 item or less checkout I get blasted as the bad guy by both the cashier and the customer?! Very very poor service to a regular...

I live pretty close to this location so I shop here quite often. The staff are really polite and helpful. I find the produce really nice. I have gone to the service desk to buy some lottery tickets and the people there have been nice and helpful. Everyone there works really hard and they do a great job. The store is nice and clean and it's a really comfortable place to shop in. Well done to the staff there. I look forward to more visits in the future :)

Definitely wouldn't shop here again. I've been a long time Thrifty foods grocery and floral customer (10 years). I bought a potted orchid for my gf, it broke off completely when I took off the tag. This is the 4th orchid I've had and I've never had this issue. I called to ask what can be done and they said nothing could be done. The manager didn't even offer advice on how to salvage what I had left without me prompting. Rushed to get off telephone.

Really going downhill. Used to be one of my favorite places to shop. Being going here for 30 years but after being bought out by a big chain, it has really lost it. Prices are high and selection is dropping. Not as many local items and they are starting to replace some brand names with their own brand. The worst department is their produce. High prices and poor selection is a bad combination. Most of the time I finish my shopping at the Root Cellar which is just up the street and has a produce selection second to none. Lately there seem to be always something that they are out of. At first thought it was just the supply chain in the pandemic but the other store always have the missing items. Too bad.

Shout out to the employees at Thrifty's Flowers & More in the Saanich centre! Had 2 different bouquets and some single stem roses all wrapped together today for my wife(anniversary). The woman who did it took time and care and was very professional. She handed me back a single bouquet that looked far better than the random handful I had a few minutes earlier. I have been getting my wife flowers from this store for years and this is why. Excellent customer service every time!

The deli area employees are very nice, but the cashiers have continously been so rude for over the year I've been going here. More correctly called The Ironically Named Thrifty, it has a good deli counter and bakery and a not bad produce section. Their oven ready pizzas are both tasty and the only items in the store which aren't over priced. I gave it two stars instead of one for being open 24 hours a day

The one cashier at the courtesy desk with the long brown hair is always miserable. She was yapping to her "friend" while ringing in her order. She was purposely going slow to spend more time with her as the line up kept getting longer ...very unprofessional !!

Great selection. Regular prices are at the high end for most regular grocery chains, but have good sales sometimes with dollar days and bogo. Depending on the store, you may run into issues with stock, particularly onsale items. Always willing to do rainchecks though.

New Store Mgr gas aways to go, before he comes close to the Standards of previous Longtime Mgr. I've only seen and spoken to "New Guy", once. Since then, my Neighbours & I haven't seen any sign of him. Previous Mgr used to,frequently, take time to sweep floors, in fact, he was always sweeping, if he was walking, in the Store!He made time to greet Customers at the Door. Floors are now dirty, packaged and fresh produce frequently out of date or signs of mold, store shelves not getting fronted as often. Do better, PLEASE, Thriftys Broadmead. We all know you can! Make us want to BE in your Store, again!

A couple of their stores are open 24 hours; Cloverdale and Colwood. They have excellent Service always. I use a lot of premade meals as I don't like to cook for one. They also have A Bank of Montreal ATM at a lot of their stores.

I am sad to say i will never return here. I would say it has continuously gotten worse in the last 8 months. Two major cleanliness issues both in the fish department. In ordering halibut, asked for it to be skinned - person behind counter cannot skin it, some guy comes from the front of the house (where i'm standing), he's holding a clipboard, he was doing inventory and seemed like a senior employee. In good customer service fashion he skins my fish for the guy. Didn't wash his hands first, No gloves! I watched in disgust and even tried to make a "stupid" comment to see if he realized it (ummm, is it okay if I wash my fish before i cook it)....he said yes. i didnt trust it. Second time was last night, halibut again. Ask for it to be skinned. I walked away and came back, saw he was attempting to hide a cut finger until he - by reflex- could not close the brown paper with one hand, and lifted his cut finger, blood dripping on the bag. He looked up to see if i had seen him. I did. He tells me he cannot serve me, i totally understand. An accident happens but he tried to HIDE it, droplets of blood were scattered. Please Thriftys, use this as a training opportunity. But i can never go back.

Decent selection. The deli has many fresh items. The twice baked potato salad is a personal favorite. Prices can sometimes be a little high on some items though I feel the quality of produce and meats to be of a better quality than other grocers in the area. When in season the "Buck Brand" oranges are worth the trip.

This Thrifty store is a bit smaller than most so not as much is available at this store as at some other larger stores. This store is well used by people in the area and tends to have a steady customer base. Staff are pleasant and the store is well laid out. Aisles are slightly more narrow than some of the newer and larger stores. Quality and selection of fresh produce, meat, seafood and in store bakery products is good.

Someone gave me a "Smile Card". When I tried to use it, they said the "authorizer" wasn't working and that I'd have to "try it again later". This was after I'd wasted a half an hour looking for groceries. They weren't even particularly apologetic about it. Oh well, it's another crappy chain supermarket anyway. If I can ever get my card's worth out of them, I won't be back. But I recommend avoiding their gift card scam.
