The total cost actually turned out to be slightly less. The movers were all very professional and had an excellent work ethic during a very long work day. Very swift. professional service. We had to wait for our new home to close at 5 p.m. The crew, having seen this situation many times, kept our spirits up as we awaited closure. My Husband and I just moved across the Province of Ontario literally from one side to the other. I had used AMJ Campbell for my previous 4 moves and have always found their services to be EXCELLENT albeit very pricey (you get what you pay for). The day the movers arrived (Mon Nov 16th) we were in the middle of a power failure that had started the night before and when they arrived (on time!!!) they realized that they couldn’t get the 53’ trailer down the driveway so they had to send for a one ton shuttle from North Bay. It was a supper snowy day and the shuttle still arrived in just over 2 hours. But what impressed the heck out of me was watching the team that was on site go! They got everything moved up from the basement that they could and put it onto the main floor and wrapped all of the furniture that they could. Basically, when the shuttle truck arrived all that had to be done was to put it onto the truck and move it to the large truck. I will say that I thought the 2K price tag to bring in the shuttle was very excessive but I wasn’t in a position to say no. I also found the attitude of the sales rep when I called to find out where the shuttle truck was aggressive. She got upset and started quoting all that they had done in so little time. I thought it was completely unnecessary under the circumstances of it being a moving day, power failure and the truck can’t get down the driveway was pretty much stress enough without having attitude given to me. This team of gentlemen Andy Berry, Jeremyah Berry, Ignatius Trudeau (aka Junior) and Marty were amazing!!! The last two loads had to go onto the truck in the dark as the power still was not back on! We used cell phone lights and Andy had a head light on his hat. They honestly just never stopped and even told my Husband and I that we could leave, and they would put the last load on the truck (ramps) so we could get going to our first destination of an over 2 day drive. At our new home Andy and Jeremyah were supposed to arrive on Thursday but Andy called me from the road and asked if they could come late on the day on Wednesday to get the trailer setup and ready to go for Thursday. Andy had one heck of a time getting the trailer up a very long snowy driveway but was successful after several attempts and after that even tried to help get my Husband’s truck un-stuck. They arrived at our new home on Thursday morning at our requested time of around 9am and this time the team was Andy, Jeremyah and a local gentleman Neil Ryan. Once again, these guys worked like dogs and never stopped (at least this time they had light). AMJ Campbell is the absolute best moving company out there and this crew of Gentlemen on both ends are as far as I could see the best in the business. If I have any comment of improvement at all it would be the sales process, but I think that COVID has hindered getting true accurateness of the cost of moving. The salesperson did not come out to the house prior to the move and I think that the cost was excessive (over 22K). I would also say that the usual extreme attention to the details of putting down the runners and protecting the carpets and the floors was not the norm for AMJ. If I ever moved again (and after this one I hope never to) I would do the same thing as I did this time. Call AMJ Campbell and no one else. If you have a complicated, long or large move to do call this company. They are outstanding!
