Shopping for product in the store is great and selection is ok. However, the service counter is under staffed and painfully slow, add the fact that returning anything in the lumber yard is also time consuming. Perhaps Kent needs to shadow Home Hardware when it comes to customer service. Hint hint... They allow debit or credit card purchases at service counter for faster service (time is money for customers). Also, redo the parking lot, it's a mess!!!!!

I will alert people who've not purchased a trailer there, is that they have to go register it for you but had no time frame on when that would be completed. Not really a huge issue but the staff should be informed of that not just the management. All in all always a good experience at the local Kent.

Well they really don’t listen to well, especially the cabinet woman I think her name is Linda she was quite rude! She got my order all wrong they refused to fix it! I told her and the contractors that I wanted a dishwasher opening in the cabinets that’s all! She still refuse To do it! The Stellarton store is conveniently located. Always a good place for odd bits and pieces of hardware I occasionally require. Prices are about average for the area with the key being to shop the sales. Floor staff is friendly and always quite helpful. I did have one senior cashier that was a bit abrupt when I asked to have my phone number listed for the purchase of a yellow plastic lawn chair. Well trying to explain my preference she just cut me off ,handed me the receipt and blurted " OK BYE ! " I really hope she needed to go to the washroom or something because there was no line of customers behind me.

Management needs to take a look at the FedEx pickup process. Their electronic signing pad didn't work and the PC the system is being run through is a bit inadequate and outdated if the loading times were anything to go by. The counter clerk was lovely and apologetic. Feb 27th ~1PM.

Same as it was just bigger. Friendly and helpful staff. Preferred the old location by Mic Mac Mall instead of Dartmouth Crossing, was easier for me to get there by micmac. Update...Jackie at the key cutting desk was awesome. We needed keys cut, one of them being the postal key, but they don't stock that key blank and she led us to a place that may have them. We got our regular keys cut at Kent and got the postal one cut at the other place.

We had a rough time getting a fire place that wasn't in store delivered to the store, we had paid a down payment on it, and it was supposed to be delivered to this store within a week. A few weeks passed, so we called and they had told us they would let us know when it was delivered, that was fine. Another week passed and we went in store and they looked it up and it didn't really say anything on our file, they called the store that it was being shipped from and we were told it was being shipped asap. Another couple weeks passed and I decided to email the manager directly. Ultimately the manager was amazing, she personally went to other store's and looked at the exact model we wanted, she had found one at one store with a small scratch and offered it to us for a fraction of the price, which we were thrilled about. When my husband went to pick it up from the store they had a brand new one for us, we ended up paying only half of what the fire place was marked as! We were very happy with our purchase, and have used them several times sense.

Always went to Kent when shopping in Truro. When they bought out Central Supplies we got one in New Glasgow. I always thought they had a better selection of merchandise than Central, prices that are average but they have a much better bargain bin section. Staff are friendly and helpful but do your research as some seem to be kids without a lot of experience. Only gripe is the project desk is under-manned and the wait can be slow to get looked after.

Spend a hundred dollars asked for a bag, they said it was 10 cents told them to keep it. Why did you not offer the bag while the items were being run through the checkout? There is an opportunity for training here, also you spend that kind of money are expected to pay a dime for a bag? How does this help the environment? Plastic bags are not an environmental issue, its how they are handled when no longer useful. Punitive costs do little if anything to help the environment.

Ordered siding from Kent in Miramichi 3 weeks ago.We had that particualr siding priced at the Kent in Moncton and they couldn't match their prices for whatever reason. So without making a fuss I ordered it and paid anyway. They told us that they didn't have that particular style in stock so they would need to order it. After 3 weeks I hadn't gotten a call so I decided to go see. They had lost my order. The guy at the desk started looking but was taking forever sifting through papers. I asked him to call me when they find it and I left. I never heard from them, so I went back the next day. They started looking again because they obviously had stopped when I left the day before. after waiting for 30 minutes I decided to just get the order refunded...I got better service getting a refund than ordering from Kent in Miramichi. BIG WASTE OF TIME!!!

The worst lumber I've ever seen , in my life . I'm a carpender , for 35 years and have never seen such poor lumber ,in my life . The pile of 2×10s I went through today , after beating them apart with a sledge hammer, should be put in the garbage . Why does Irving keep sending garbage to Miramichi ? That stuff would not pass code , so is actually " NOT LEAGLE " as in AGAINST THE LAW . I feel bad for the workers there because they are trying to surve people but have nothing but junk to deal with . Come on Irving !!!! Smartin Up ! The one star I gave is for the staff , because they are very good . Very polite and helpful .I'll go back for stuff inside the store but not for lumber .

I don’t recommend Curbside Pickup. I ordered two days ago just two items and it took 48 hours to notify me that they have put the order together. I parked and called the number. No one answered and the operator kept trying to get someone to take the call. Finally when someone did come out they weren’t wearing a mask and walked up to within 2 feet of my car window. I asked that they go to the passenger side. Then she asked that I open the trunk but I had just gone grocery shopping so that was a no. I asked her to just drop through the side passenger window but she said she couldn’t reach into the vehicle (ahem, how is that different from reaching into the trunk??). She could have just as easily said she was leaving them on the ground but she passed them to me physically. The moral of the story is if you’re gonna practice safe distancing, really know what you’re doing — wear a mask, put on the ground, walk away. Don’t throw shade because someone’s trunk is full and you’re not prepared to use some common sense. I really do prefer Kent over the orange place but please realize that customer service needs to be practiced while being vigilant about your and my safety.

I have been shopping at Central for 15 years and having lived in several places across the Maritimes, these guys were the best of the best. Project desk team is amazing, store staff pretty great too. Seeing Kent take over has me a bit nervous. I have used the Kent store in Truro a fair bit, and that store seriously pales in comparison to the team in Stellarton. I hope the Kent guys are humble enough to recognize the success formula that Central has proven and keep it going!

I usually love shopping at this particular Kents, but yesterday the service from one of the lumber department staff was very poor. After waiting for 15 minutes to talk to the person at the counter, he finally asked if he could help me, without even looking at me. I had the impression that I was bothering him. I inquired about a piece of scrap material on a pallet near the desk. I only needed a small 6"x6" piece of this material and did not want to purchase the entire 4' x 4' board. He told me that they through away the scrap material. When I asked if I could have some he said no and stared back down at his papers. Just so everyone knows, this behaviour isn't common to the other staff at this store. This Kents remains a good place to shop.

Their staff is lazy, they mostly do noy have any idea what they are talking about. Always on their phones. Hard to find any help to find things. They have a shortage of crown mouldings. In the summer i almost every time had to load all my own mulch bags...and if i bought in bulk wait atleast 30 mins or so for the tractor driver. Kent is horrible.

Central Supplies was my favourite store. Clearly Kent hates everything that made the store unique and a great experience. They would rather fill the aisles with mess, move stock around without moving signage, and generally ignore customers. And every time I do go in, there are dogs there. I DO NOT want to wait at a checkout behind BARKING DOGS. Kent sucks. Kent is going to ruin the reputation Central Supplies had. Kent is clearly only here for however much money they can get out of Pictou County. Kent - you suck!

Nice place for construction deals. I think I found my materials supplier, despite high prices. It is one place for everything, from rough in to finishing, unfortunately staff does not know what they have but there is also one guy that knows everything and can help you. Return policy is great and you can get good deal for tools. You just need to keep watching for discounts and seasonal deals.

People were not social distancing. Too many people were in the store and signs on the product I bought were wrong. I showed the person in customer service, she said it was a different skew....there were too boxes side by side and only one sign! Her solution was to go back and stand in my third line of the night in Kent alone! Next time I go to Home depot. They are organized and admit when they screw up.

Great employee knowledge. Reasonable prices on most items vs larger chain competitors. More geared for contractors but if you go in with an idea what your looking for the staff can assist you the rest of the way. Not a five star rating because lack of inventory on website. A fact that is addressed directly on the website as a way to keep costs down to the common customer. While this is somewhat inconvenient it is commendable that the company is up front to their customers about it.

Pretty much whatever you need when building a house or just doing a renovation for the kitchen or bathroom. Huge parking lot with free parking. Can usually find a staff person who can guide you to the correct isle for an item. I would recommend this place.

I have to give tremendous credit to the store manager. I did not have a good experience at this store. The millennials who work there should learn a little about customer service and how to do their jobs more efficiently. I was about to leave our very large order at the cashier after a wild goose chase for some items that we were going to purchase. However, the store manager stepped in, and calmly and professionally resolved the situation. The staff could learn a thing or two from him. Thank you, sir.

Very friendly staff.....but... wife alerted me to the fact that the women's accessible washroom was poorly designed. The door to the accessible stall should be reversed. Presently, a person in a wheelchair has to back in the stall corridor, then open the door and go in. The swing on this door should be changed so that the person in the chair can roll straight in and when leaving, straight out. I did not check the men's washroom.

I’ve never been more frustrated and letdown by a retail business before (and I don’t like to complain). Just don’t buy a door here. The communication between departments is pitiful. For everything else they are fine and friendly in person. Trying to find anything out on the phone was impossible. I was lied to over and over when asking when my door was going to be finished. I called multiple times and was transferred to the cut shop, but the phone was never answered, so I was told that by leaving my name and number I’d receive a call back. This happened 3 times on different days and I NEVER got a single call back. So,I had to call and speak with a manager after two weeks just to find out my door wasn’t even added to the cut shop’s schedule... Purchased it June 6th finally got it June 23rd, 2 weeks longer than I was told when purchasing the door. I was also told that when completed, I would receive a call. I never did and had to call myself to find out that it was already finished. I made the mistake of trusting their cuts... brought the door all the way home and up to my apartment to find out that they put the door handle off 2 inches (and no, the door wasn’t upside down). Thankfully they refunded me but even then, the service was very unfriendly. I was even told that I must have had the door upside down, meaning they believe I had the wrong measurements. In the future when I need professional work done, I will not be going to Kent.

Brutal customer service! Call this morning to ask a question regarding their price match policy on an existing purchase within a 30 day window. I was advised by customer service that they were able to look up my purchase in the computer and price match the item based on this. I went to the store to receive my credit and the customer service folks told me they couldn't do anything without a receipt. Not only did they lie about their own policy, they made me waste a trip to the store. I'm currently in the process of renovating my house so I hope they are okay with forfeiting thousands of dollars worth of materials. Very disappointed in this stores approach to this issue and I will not be shopping at Kent anymore.

Similar to Home Depot and Rona with what they sell, the layout of the store and prices. Staff were very friendly and the young guy helped me disassemble the display furniture that I purchased. The store is well stocked and well laid out. If you need tools, building supplies, lawn furniture, wood, steel, whatever, this is a good choice.

This is definitely the worst Kent I've been to, and as a contractor I have been to many different locations in the Atlantic provinces. Today I spent 35 minutes waiting for some one to come unlock the wheelbarrows I went in twice and called once and no one came.so after 35 minutes, I went in and returned the wheelbarrows that I had paid for but never got and went to home hardware to purchase some (they were great! Not a big selection, but I had my 2 wheelbarrows in less than 5 minutes) So in short, this Kent sucks and I will not be going back, to waste 35 minutes if my time and my 15 employees that may be waiting for me to return with supplies.

WARNING - they seriously dropped the ball recently. I called to inquire about a product that was out of stock online and in store, in the hopes that they might be able to find it for me. I was happy when they found one in a different location and was told it would be shipped to the store within a couple of weeks. After about a week and a half I called to inquire about the status, only to be disappointed to learn that it had not been shipped yet, even though it was only an hour away in Fredericton. They then called back to apologize and offer two day delivery - saying they'd spoken to the Fredericton location and was being shipped. Today, when it should have been here I called to see if it was in, only to be told it was out of stock and they couldn't get it! I find it to be completely unprofessional that the screwed up 2x on this order and that I had to be the one to call and find out. All the manager was able to do was apologize and offer a deal on another - with no explanation on how it got so messed up. I was trying to support local businesses but if I had just ordered from Amazon I'd have already had it! last time I shop at Kent.
