We highly recommend Canadian Pest Control Service, the company we engage annually to protect our log home from infestations of ants and cluster flies. Although we no longer have a problem with either of these pests, it makes sense to maintain a yearly routine. We don’t want to return to the problems we had when we first built our home, the problems many others who live in our proximity still have. We’re impressed with Stephane Boucher’s knowledge and expertise. He knows precisely the best time in the spring and late summer to spray for cluster flies in our area (i.e. the life cycle of the cluster fly in our latitude).
A few years ago when we saw some ants in the interior of our home, as well as on our deck and porch, we had the exterior of our foundation sprayed. Whereas the ants on the inside of our home were identified as carpenter ants, and the others may not have been, we’re pleased to be rid of all of them. This isn’t to say we don’t have ant hills on our property. Our property is on a large lake with a somewhat sandy shoreline. For this reason we have Canadian Pest Control deal with any large ant hills which develop, or are otherwise gathering.
Because we had many cluster flies inside our home when we first built, we required spraying on the inside. (I believe we had to stay outside for a couple of hours before re-entering, but this was so long ago I can’t be sure of the timing.) All spraying is now done on the exterior, except for occasionally on one particular upper bedroom window. Believe me, I don’t miss the previous hours, I spent vacuuming thousands of flies off the floor, as well as the windows once a year.
Many thanks, Stephane,
