I highly recommend Greenshield Pest Control. They helped us out with a bat situation almost a year ago. Their customer service was excellent, and their prices were very reasonable. They sealed up our roof soffits and installed one-way bat doors to safely and humanely encourage the bats to relocate. We worked mainly with Brendan, who was friendly and conscientious. He explained the process and throughly and even came back to help with the occasional stubborn bat who insisted on sticking around. I highly recommend this company.

Called on a Friday for an urgent matter, and was grateful to be booked for Monday morning. We were unable to stay at our home due to the infestation, and were able to arrange accommodations for a few days until Monday came around. On Monday morning we were called and told there were no technicians in our area that day, and the next appointment they could schedule would be three days from now. I was confused because they had booked us in for an appointment on Monday. This was a last minute cancellation, which was extremely upsetting to us. However, we accepted the bad news, and made arrangements with another company. An hour later, the owner called to apologize on behalf of his staff, and offered to come out same day for the service. As we had already moved on to another company, he then graciously offered to pay the fee. I really appreciated the follow up from the owner. This was some of the best customer service I’ve ever had. I do have to mention that the assessment is pricey but you get a good estimate and the day of the removal of the unwanted tenants was quick and below the estimate given. Green Shield has been spraying my house for several years for spiders, earwigs and other assorted critters. They do a consistently great job year after year. This year I found multiple wasps nests in my shed and it was an ordeal being swarmed by wasps every time I opened the shed to access my lawn tractor. I called Green Shield and the gentleman, Tom Wood, arrived the same day and dealt with the matter quickly and efficiently. I was extremely impressed with his knowledge of wasps and pests in general and I no longer have to fend off swarms of wasps when I mow my lawn. Thank you Green Shield! I'm shocked that the reviews are this good. I phoned about a month ago to get a quote for bat removals/prevention. Curtis wanted to charge me $299 just for an inspection! At the time I thought this was fair but it didn't include any work whatsoever. Two other companies(Canadian Shield & Skedaddle) are charging $75 and $84. And Skedaddle currently has a promotion for free inspections in Brighton!! So I cancelled the inspection because Curtis had said in July they couldn't do anything as far as installing one-way doors due to bat babies being present...which seems fair. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago I wanted to get these guys in here to do an assessment as I still didn't know the fair price for an inspection and it is now the right time to deal with the bats. I phoned and spoke to a receptionist and she said she would have Curtis call me back as he was in a meeting. Well, I phoned again later in the day since we're probably dealing with a colony of bats and Curtis hadn't phoned me back. The lady on the phone said he was still in a meeting and that he would call me back. Never heard from him...Also at the time I initially spoke to Curtis and learning they couldn't install one-way doors I phoned back to book an appointment for spraying around the house for earwigs, wasps, etc. That cost $270. So how is it that a quick inspection cost $299 without having to use any supplies or material like spraying a house would? We haven't had any earwigs since they sprayed so obviously they've done a good job there but this is a completely different department from what this guy is responsible for. Which is probably why we got good service...

This company was phenomenal to work with. I work along side a Rescue here in Kingston. We focus on feral cats however we will not turn down an animal in need and advocate for all animals. This weekend we got called about baby raccoons diving off a roof. The access to the roof was dangerous so we had to call in experts. Green shield did not hesitate to come out later in the evening on a holiday. We called numerous amounts of other companies before finding greenshield and no one else was willing to help. It took a couple days to capture all the babies and each day they kept us updated about the situation. They went out multiple times a day all hours to check traps. They are very knowledgeable and passionate about the animals they capture they are also very easy to work with. The best part is they are humane. They do NOT kill instead they often use sandy pines wildlife centre and other organizations for rehabilitation and release. Can’t say enough good things about this company and will most definitely use them again P.s. All babies were safely captured and transported to sandy pines wildlife centre. Thank you green shield.

Jason and Neil didn’t just make it easy, they actually made it enjoyable. She took my info to have her call me back that day but that never happened and that was last week.. How is it someone who works for this company couldn't answer one question? You'd think she'd know some info for potiential customers but I guess not. I now see what others have been talking about with this company being unreliable.. word of advice, RETURN peoples phone calls and hire staff that have some knowledge in the company they work for. Glad this happened though so I know to take my business elsewhere.

We have lived in PEC for 15 years and, ours being an old farm property, always had problems with cluster flies. We tried various home remedies and then had another service provider for a few years. The bugs always returned. Greenshields is the only local service provider willing to guarantee their work on an annual contract and this will be our second year with them. So far, we have only needed two treatments per year, but we know they will be back if needed between service calls at no charge. They are professional and courteous on every call or visit.

In September 2018, I had the pleasure of having Greenshield remove a large hive of bees from under my porch roof. I say 'pleasure' because I found their service to fast, efficient and totally effective. I had several questions for the serviceman who came to do the job and he was very thorough in explaining all of the steps and the 'why' behind each step. I have pets in my home as well as chickens in my backyard so I was concerned about any adverse impact there might be by using the products to eliminate the bees but he assured me that all were safe and environmentally friendly. I never post reviews of companies or restaurants but I feel I have an obligation to share my disappointing experience with this pest control company with people who may be swayed by the overwhelmingly positive reviews online. Firstly, I made an appointment with a consultant to discuss a possible mice issue in my 2 year old home. I was met by a extremely young but friendly man, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and I listened to his assessment and accepted his recommendations. The total cost of the services recommended was close to $1000. I committed to services totaling around $600 which included a "mouse trap blitz" and installation of screens in the weeping vents around the home, as well as ongoing follow-up. I opted to save myself $400 by going around the home and chalking the space between the exterior walls and the soffits. After these services were paid and rendered, I noticed evidence that the mice may still be present. I contacted greenshield to follow-up and they said they would call me back. A few weeks later, no one had responded so I called again and they apologized for the delay but they would call me back. This went on again and again for at least 4-5 more times until my patience finally wore thin. Their explanation is that they did not know who did the inspection and who carried out the work and they needed to track down these people to get a report from them. Failure to keep this information documented on hand is a poor business practice. Needless to say, I persevered seeing that I had no option but the see this through. Almost one month following my initial call attempts, someone told me they would do a follow-up assessment and call me back. True to their word, I received a call shortly after their inspection but they could not provide me with a plan of action to address my concerns. They could not even confirm that a single mouse was found in the traps leading me to seriously question the treatment approach that was prescribed. I had asked for updates and any discoveries of dead mice continuously throughout this ordeal and all they could muster was that "they needed to speak to the technician and call me back" to which they failed to do every single time. This is exactly how I ended my last conversation. I again asked them to confirm if any mice was ever found in their trapping blitz and I never heard from them again and that was 4 months ago. I've given up on them and I seriously caution people about going with this company. I believe accountability is a core value missing with greenshield.

We had GreenShield come out for a squirrel problem in our attic. The assessment fee is somewhat high given we knew what the problem was (though they were upfront that it was $125) and they added an extra “truck fee” because the tech brought a ladder he didn’t even use. The assessment was done quickly (less than 20min) and poorly. The tech never fully entered the attic to observe the damage and said there were no signs of nesting (turns out there is a nest). He also never went on the roof - if he had he would have seen additional damage that needed repair. We were quoted at over $1200 plus taxes and whatever hidden fees they would work in, but had the repairs and start of the removal process done by another party for $350. EDIT: After posting my initial review we were contacted by Curtis from GreenShield. He explained that this assessment was not up to their standards and offered to refund the assessment fee and to do the work at cost, should our current approach be unsuccessful. Thank you Curtis for contacting us about our concerns.

I called Greenshield Pest Control because I had a squirrel problem at my cottage. I had found the entrance before they came but they assessed the issue and recommended a one-way door. I was told that squirrels will leave quickly and would not be able to get back in. Two weeks later Greenshield returned to remove the door even though I was convinced that the squirrels were still inside. To reinstall the door would cost me another $265. I put down a Rodentrap from Homehardware and in three days had killed three squirrels. I spoke to the Greenshield owner who agreed to re install the door at no cost. One-week later Greenshield came back to remove the door and do another check of the cottage. The following day I killed a fourth squirrel. Bottom line is I don’t know what I received in return for paying Greenshield $382.50 plus tax. Maybe the one-way door did work but I recommend using Rodentraps baited with peanut butter and sunflower seeds in addition.

He took the time to inspect our home to see where mice/rats may have been entering. He then offered detailed and super helpful resolutions to the issues we were having. We had requested their services because we were experiencing mice/rats in our garage, and more importantly because a rat had managed to actually enter our home into our living space. Pat was very kind to set some traps for us, but conveniently enough, the rat had suddenly made an appearance in our living room while Pat was there. The rat managed escape death by hunting dog and hid inside our ottoman. With great perseverance, Pat managed to lure the rat out of the ottoman, but just as he thought he was safe, Pat grabbed that rat by his gloved hand like a BADASS and for lack of a better term, "took care of it." Approx. 1-1/2 months ago I had a bat flying in my main floor rec room late in the evening. I was shocked and upset, next morning called Greenshields who sent someone who was unable to locate it, despite spending a lot of time trying. Next morning I found the bat stuck under the door leading to the garage and called Greenshields again. A friend was able to remove the bat before Greenshields arrived, but Chris who came highly recommended "bat-proofing" my home after a very thorough examination. He was very knowledgeable and thorough. They have since done the required work and I'm very happy with no more bats. The one thing I wasn't impressed with the reply of the first technician (not Chris) who recommended to get rid of skunks to throw carrots on the road. I thought I had a squirrel in my attic but it turns out it was mice. On their first visit, the guys searched both the house and garage attics and only saw evidence of mice. On their second visit, they put traps in both attics as well as in the garage. They also put sealant in all spaces where they thought the mice could be getting in, at the brick and soffit intersections. In another week or so, they will return to check the traps. I am very pleased with their work. They were very pleasant and easy to talk to. They showed me what they would be doing, where and why. I had called around to other exterminators and the prices were much much higher than these guys. They even shoveled my walkway on their first visit because we'd just had snow. I would not recommend this company. Despite paying over $3000 to have our home “mouse-proofed” we still have them in our attic (and presumably walls, basement, etc.) We purchased the 3-year “warranty” and called them back multiple times after things weren’t done properly (rodent fence not buried deep enough, weep vents not properly filled) not to mention the replacement insulation that wasn’t properly installed (we tore it out ourselves and paid for sprayfoam instead.) Now our warranty has expired and we still have the same mouse problem we started with, which means it was all a big waste of time and money!

We sleep much better now that Greenshield Pest Control has bat proofed our home. At 2am on the Saturday morning of the August long weekend I noticed that we had "wildlife" in our basement. After having contacted another Pest Control company which said they could not guarantee anyone would get back to me until after the long weekend, I was fortunate to find Greenshield on Google. Effective, but VERY expensive. It cost me $600 to have raccoons removed from my garage. They didn't even do the removing, just set a one way trap door and drilled holes into my house to cover the access with wire mesh. If the babies had been smaller it would have cost me $1000! I was doing whatever I could to keep the problem at bay but realized that I needed a professional to seal up the place. The technician arrived on time and was very pleasant. Jason & Neil showed up on time. Upon inspection they found some residual vermiculite combined with small bits of bat guano stuck in some crevices in an upper storage area. It appears it had blown down during a recent wind storm. They cleaned it up in a short order and sprayed a disinfectant to alleviate any possible smell to the sensitive nose. They also walked the perimeter of the home and ensured the silicone caulking from a previous bat exclusion still remained intact. They were professional, informative and excelled in customer service. I would highly recommend them, if you have any type of unwanted wildlife that needs to be removed in a humane manner. Although they are an exclusive wildlife removal team, they also advised of other programs the company offers to control unwanted pests (i.e., cluster flies, Asian beetles, mice, etc.), within and around the home. I would not hesitate to use them again.

I called because I had a racoon in my attic. They were very prompt in calling me back and had someone at my house by that afternoon. It cost me $225 plus tax just for them to come over and basically tell me that I had a racoon in my attic and he caused damage, which I already knew because I had actually seen it. They quoted me $1600 on top of the $250 to get the raccoon out (removal not included) and repair the damage. They sent 3 people over for the assessment, which I'm sure is part of the reason for the cost. My husband spoke with the owner and when he asked about the removal the owner told him he might want to go with another company.I found this ridiculously expensive and called around. I found someone else who actually removes the racoon from the premises and fixes all damage and they charged a quarter of the price. I'm not sure why this company is so expensive but my advice would be to shop around. Because now I'm out $250 and absolutely nothing was done but an assessment. I'm sure they are good at what they do, but very costly too.

With the cold weather we had mice get into our home. We set traps and tried to get under control but it did not resolve the issue We called Greenshield and they came same day. They found where they were getting in which got fixed and then Paul set 25-30 traps. Paul came back after a couple of days and carried some out in a bag. He came back a couple of days later and then a week later and all the traps were empty and no evidence. Paul solved our problem in a week and 1/2 which would have taken us a year. He really knows his stuff and is very professional and friendly. Even my dog didn't bark at him which is huge! Greenshield is the best! Thank you! Worth every penny!!

Arriving at the cottage this Spring we discovered we were sharing it with squirrels. They’d snare drum the soffitting every morning at dawn. The local small rodents control outfit we contacted said they didn’t do squirrels and advised us to buy traps. The tech showed up on time and after about 45 min of him looking around the house and in the attic he informed me I had a Bat and was unable to remove it till spring and explained why it had to be done in the spring. And he also explained the process in removing it. I have to say they were very professional and cared about my situation. I would recommend them for anyone having a issue with wild life in there business or home.

It’s a rare thing for a company to return your call when you’re just looking for advice rather than a service but Greenshield did and Curtis was super helpful with ideas for fencing to keep out porcupines - thank you Curtis! I’ve not been happy with two other pest control providers that had been recommended to me so I’m shifting to Greenshield Pest Control for my annual exterior spraying and anything else that comes up. I had a squirrel running frenzied laps around the basement between the rafters and the duct work. A called and a local pest control fellow came over and did an inspection (basement and outside). He was unable to locate the access point, left bait and assured me it was unlikely that another squirrel would come in. He explained that the bait would take about 5 days to work. In 5 days the first squirrel had died however a second one had moved in. I tried calling him but he doesn't answer the phone or work on the weekends. (I had incorrectly assumed that he would check back with me in the meantime to see how things were going.) I contacted Greenshield and had a return phonecall within a few minutes. Curtis explained their prices, processes and made some suggestions. I opened a basement window, placed my wood chute up to it and within half an hour the beast had gone back outside. I checked the basement again myself and discovered where the varmits had been coming inside. I plugged the opening temporarily. Thank you Curtis! I will be contacting you next week to do an assessment for all the mice that move into my home for their winter "staycation".
