I told company rep over phone the exact type of nest involved (‘hornet’) to be removed and was quoted a reasonable price, upon which I relied. They promptly went to my home but then told me that while on site at my home that THEIR info from THEIR own answering service inadvertently described a different type of nest and thus they needed to add an additional 25%+ to the quote. Not so much the cost as it is the lack of transparency. Disappointed that they did not honor their own pricing.

Let me start out this review by saying that we are first-time home buyers who are very unhappy about realizing that we have a mice problem. Our first instinct was to look through yelp for an exterminator who has good reviews. After looking at many, we decided to go with Rose Pest Solutions, but boy do we regret it. First off, our set time was supposed to be from 8-10am. We received a phone call from the technician at 9:46 stating he would be about another half an hour. Luckily we had nowhere to be, so we waited. Upon seeing the Rose truck in our driveway with no knock at the door, we went out to see where he was. The First spot he looked at was the back yard, maybe seeing 3 little spots and not moving a bush around the left side to see if there were any entry points. He did not seal these spots, just told us about them even though they were small and easily plugged. He did not thoroughly look at the front of the house and never looked at the west side. Upon entering our basement, he noticed right away that some light was coming through our cellar door and recommended replacing said door. He only sealed one little gap down at the corner of it with steel wool. Ramon was the name of our technician (which I only learned when the receipt was printed off, mind you) then said that there was a hole at the far end of our basement which we should plug up with wool (he did not do this). More inspection of the basement, I pointed out holes that I personally had noticed and he plugged, without finding them on his own and didn't do any more inspecting other than what I had found previously. Now to the main level, we have dogs so I understand him being cautions (but they were crated, so no need to worry)... He didn't even enter the dining room OR the living room where we had seen droppings previously and told him about. He did put a bait box behind the stove and refrigerator with the help of my husband, but never went into the sun room which is on top of the exit point of the basement where he said most of the issues probably were. After him baiting the kitchen, he started to sit down on the steps for what looked like he was going to write out our receipt. UM, WE HAVE A SECOND FLOOR. So noticing that he seemed finished, I told him to please check upstairs. Reluctantly, he followed me upstairs where I had noticed a spot that looked like a mouse had pushed through... low and behold, it was a entry point that he plugged with steel wool and set a trap behind my mirror near there. He then checked our full bath and noticed some droppings at the bottom of our vanity (yuck, we haven't even started to unpacked that room yet) and set a sticky trap near the opening in the wall for the water. He then looked in our other two bedrooms for 2 seconds each (not checking baseboards where the other hole was) and said that it seemed ok. Like dude, LOOK. Ramon then proceeded to go out to his car and hand me a handful of steel wool to put in a bag and 4 extra sticky traps and told me "Here, plug any more holes you find and set some more traps where you feel like". UM, isn't that YOUR job? Isn't that what I'm paying you for, to find the entry points for me? Apparently not. After coming back downstairs and writing up our receipt, I told him I had purchased the yelp voucher and he huffed, called his manager, and told me I'd have to pay for the remainder ($20). Yea, I know. So I gave him $20 cash and he left. My husband and I were pissed. We barely waited until he was out of our driveway to call the Rose service number to tell them how unsatisfied we were. We didn't want to pay for half a job. My husband spoke to the service manager who said he was willing to come back out (in 7-10 days) and extend our warranty period. We didn't want that. We want a reputable company who will take their time and appreciate how terrible of a feeling it is to find vermin in your home. I also didn't want to have to pay for more do-it-yourself solutions. If I wanted that, I would have just done all of the things the internet says to do and not called a professional.

From the beginning, it was clear this was not the business anyone should choose. From the fact that they didn't take my concerns seriously, to the fact that an inspector was unavailable for over a week, to the customer service representative that gave me an extension to call which no one answered, to the day they actually came. The inspector, Lisa, was unresponsive, even to confirm the appointment, was extremely rude and dismissive of my concerns, sloppily destroyed most of the evidence I had collected, took what little was left to, "look at it under the microscope when I get back to the office" but in the same breath told me, "which won't be today or tomorrow because I'm too busy." There was no follow up there either. Her "inspection" consisted of her looking around with her tiny pen light for about 4 or 5 min, never actually looking at anything in detail, haphazardly knocking over the napkin of evidence I spent hours collecting, telling me there was nothing here, insulting me, making an empty promise to follow up, and leaving. The whole "inspection" was under 10 min. There was no contact until I received the link to complete this review. If you want professional pest control, with follow up and follow through, with entomologists on staff, with people who take the time to help you... THIS IN NOT THAT PLACE. Quite possibly the worst experience I have ever had with any business.

Rose pest solution was AMAZING! I woke up to bagels scattered across my kitchen because of a rat attack, I immediately called Rose Pest and a technician was sent out immediately. Sean was incredible. He was very response. From the beginning he was very dedicated. He understand the severity of the problem and immediately sprung into action. After the first week we already caught 4 rats! He also discovered exactly where the rats were coming in and started baiting. From there, I was still hearing them in the walls as well as they were getting inside. Sean took time out of his day to come to our rescue. Sean would be at my apartment setting traps on the weekend, and every morning. He was very dedicated to solving our problem which was greatly appreciated. Not only did he devote his life to help me he also got a hazemat suit and went into our crawl space to examine our rat problem even more! In total we caught 10 large rats. All because of Sean! What does pest specialist mean? That Rose can identify a picture of a pest? It does not mean service. It does not mean the customer is valued. It means ROSE PEST is busy so customer concerns are secondary. It doesn't even mean inspecting traps and disposing of dead rodents (that were not killed by the traps!!!) Communication between receptionist and tech does not exist or is faulty at best. Their records do not account for individuals in a building based contract. Thus, there is an inability to get info for a single unit. Have a 2nd choice for pests? Use it!!!

I've found Rose Pest Solutions to be reliable and responsive. The same tech comes to my house every other month to monitor a back-yard pest issue (one that inevitably comes with living in the city), and he always takes the time to give me an update on what he is seeing. I've not seen any of the critters since hiring Rose, which means they're under control though probably not completely gone (again, I live in a dense city neighborhood). I would recommend Rose and will continue using them based on the customer service I've gotten.

The tech who came adhered to social distancing guidelines and was personable. She did check all traps and bait stations. However, she asked me for ketchup, which I gave her, and she proceeded to put ketchup on all the mousetraps and in all the bait stations, saying this is what would attract the mice. Our previous technician used pepperoni which he provided himself. After watching the technician touch our ketchup bottle spout to the bag of poison, I decided she could keep our 1/2 used 32 oz bottle. She also poured out too much ketchup onto one of the traps, rinsed things off in the bathroom and it wasn’t until after she left that I found ketchup spatters on that bathroom’s walls and ceiling. Whatever substance a tech thinks is best used for bait should be provided for by the company — not me. I am already paying Rose Pest Solutions for that, right? And I shouldn’t have to clean up after a technician’s visit.

We had hundreds of “bees" flying in and out of a crack between the wood and brick near a high window. When I called, I was able to talk to a manager to make sure they weren’t honey bees (which are protected, so you have to move the nest). Using our pictures by email, he was able to confirm that these were wasps, probably Yellowjackets (mean wasps!). A technician came the next day, all suited up for bee removal, and was able to squirt a powder into the crack to get the job done. He also inspected our exterior for other possible issue. We also use Rose for our regular pest control treatments. Not too expensive and the technicians are always kind and professional.

Unfortunately, I had a rat problem in my building. I was using an exterminator that brushed me off when I said I think I have a rat. He was like no way it’s too clean here. Well, the day after I had my appointment we saw a rat run across the room (no lie). So I decided it was time to part ways with that company and I called Rose. Notice above I use the word HAD for my rat problem. Well, since I hired Rose I had a rat problem and I no longer have a rat problem. The reason I called Rose was because they got rid of a rat problem at my storefront for my landlord. I knew they would do the same for me and low and behold they did!

[New review from work done 4/12] An hour or two after posting my first review, the manager, John, called me and said he could be out this afternoon to help with the wasps. He apologized for the poor quality of the first visit and wanted to make sure things were done right. Sure enough, he was out this afternoon and helped thoroughly diagnose the issue. We now have a plan for dealing with the wasps. Hopefully we don't need to, but I'd call Rose again for help if things get out of hand. [Original review from work done 4/10] I called to schedule time for someone to come out and help us with two issues — wasps in the backyard and ants in the house. I made clear the wasps were the primary issue. When someone came out a few days later, they said they had no equipment (ladder, etc.) to identify where the wasps were nesting, so nothing was done. The ants were dealt with, which is why this isn’t a 1-star review, but now I’ve got to find help with the wasps. If anyone has a recommendation, I’d appreciate it.

My landlord uses rose and does the majority of setting up the service time so I can’t speak for that. The guy that comes out from rose is very nice. The first time, he wore a mask and was very quick. The chemicals he used on the drains did help but only lasted 6 weeks or so before the pest issue became out of hand again. We have drain flies that come up from the sewer when it rains. There’s really not much that can be done but to treat the drains. He recommended we use dish soap down the drains once a month and to keep using ACV + dish soap traps (home made). We did the dish soap once a week or more and continued the dish soap. This time he suggested peppermint oil which I said I had so that’s perfect. While essential oils are a bit expensive to literally pour down the drain, peppermint oil is perfect for my plants. The flies have tried to breed in my plants and are always in the pots so the guy decided to spray several of them with his pesticide or whatever. It didn’t smell like peppermint so I have no idea what is in the spray bottle. He didn’t ask and it happened so quickly (his total service time was about 5 min). I was doubtful that this would be good for the plants but optimistic that it could be because why would you spray someone’s plants without asking if it wasn’t safe for the plants? No matter how well-intentioned, I’m so upset because within 24 hours one of my plants is seriously dying. The stem blackened where the spray was to the point it just fell over and the whole lower half is falling off / wilting so quickly. I don’t think it’s salvageable. One other plant had some leaves shrivel up so far but didn’t get nearly as much of the chemical. I wish I had been asked as spraying plants really doesn’t seem like part of pest control’s responsibility and now I have a dead plant. Plants can be so expensive to maintain- pots and soil are not cheap. Oh, and the entire second service time, he didn’t wear a mask or ask me if that was okay (I was wearing mine to set the tone). Even if he was 6 feet from me, he was not at all times, circulated air indoors doesn’t really allow for 6 feet to prevent exposure.

The gentleman came applied the material. He was always on time never any problems. It will be a year in a month that i have had the service and by now I feel I should no longer be seeing any critters. I was told that after the initial application a MIST would be used on the remaining service and any critters would go back to the source and they eventually kill off the others. Well I'm still finding them and I shouldn't be because it's almost a year. They do not do each and every room in the house only bedrooms, living room etc. No kitchen bathrooms basements. I have had the original salesman who did a special treatment out stated he saw NO activity but why am I still seeing them. I feel I'm paying for nothing and being senior citizens money is not easy to come by for "extra" expenses. This company was recommended by another person in the exterminating business.

We called Rose pest control about a rat problem in our neighborhood. We were seeing rats at dusk travel through our backyard from nests next door to the garbage cans on the other side of our property. The pest control expert, Jalani Nelson, came out two days later. He was very thorough. Since we didn’t see rat holes on our property, he put smoke bombs in the rat holes next door. Fortunately no puffs of smoke come up in our yard. He then placed secure bait In our yard, along the paths we had seen rats used through our yard. He also inspected the points of rat access and suggested methods to effectively block rat entry. My husband and I were able to use this information to develop a plan to block them. He also gave us his business card so we can call him directly if there are further problems. He also suggested that we schedule his visits at least monthly. We want to specifically compliment Mr Nelson for his professionalism and valuable information. We will be calling him in the future to stay on top of this problem.

I would definitely recommend Rose Pest Solutions to anyone. This is the 2nd time I've used their service. 7 years ago for roaches, they sent a tech out and he sprays their magic throughout the house and I haven't had roaches since. Now I have a mouse issue and since mice are a smart rodent and they reproduce quickly I enrolled for the year-round protection and so far so good with that issue. It's certainly under control. My exterminator technician Allen has made this experience very pleasant. He's very professional and arrived promptly when we agree on a scheduled day. He comes in checks on all the bate and traps and replaces it all and places more and provides me with extra traps to have on hand and he always expresses that if there are any issues or concerns I'm able to call him to arrange a meeting. I truly appreciate that. Overall this is a great company and not overpriced like other competitors. So if you have any issues and are looking for a Pest Control solution I would highly recommend giving Rose???? Pest Control a call for sure. You shouldn't be disappointed.

Day 1: lisa used chemical warfare down the hole in my garden where we know rats are residing under my shed. Set additional traps and we got a rat first night who decided to take a nibble of our bait before going down the hole. Trap got the rat and the rat tried taking the trap down the hole. DOA. There’s still work to be done but lisa is already coming back to de-rat the trap to use the good smelling trap again to our advantage. I’ll continue to update the reviews over the next few weeks as this saga progresses.

Has anyone else noticed items missing after a visit from your technician? We have used Rose for a while now and had no issues with our service, until we noticed a small safe and some cash had gone missing from our basement after our last visit. We tried to think of any possible alternative to it being our technician, but the items were both in areas where the technician checks or baits and we've had no other visitors. We even checked our security system to see if the back door or basement windows had been opened or closed outside of the visit. They were not. Items only went missing from the basement, where the tech was left alone. I wanted to use discretion, asking to speak to a manager instead of a customer service rep. I certainly wasn't planning on posting something just in case someone else WAS able to access the house without our knowledge and without triggering activity on our alarm system (and chose not to target any other area of the house). I felt very disrespected by the manager, who essentially mocked me and told me to feel free to call back when the items turn up...you know the cash and safe that we just happened to misplace. Despite feeling angry and violated (and already at the height of exhaustion with the pandemic and other issues), I presented my concern calmly and gently. I genuinely just wanted to protect the company and prevent this happening to other customers. There was no "we'll look into it" or "we'll note this in case of additional complaints" - just "call back when the items turn up." Since it seems Rose is not interested in protecting their clients, I felt it necessary to post a warning. Proceed with caution. I thought we could trust our tech or I would not have left him alone to do his work, I fear I was sadly mistaken.
