I go here because i have to. The store it self has screwed me over on more then 1 occasion. I had ordered some siding and paid in full. when the order arrived, i was in the hospital as my wife was having our baby. Kent's decided to sell it right out underneath me. i had to wait untill they reordered it.. when they finally delivered said siding there was pieces missing which i had to go pick up in my car. That is not a way to conduct business if you ask me.

This is my go to place when I need tools, lumber, widgets or the like. This time I just needed a widget. The gentleman I spoke with showed me what they had, which he explained would probably not be up to the task. He then recommended (local) specialist stores in town (where I eventually made my purchase) that would probably be a better source. That is phenomenal customer service, rather than the usual "let me see if we can order it and get one shipped for you in the next 3 weeks" type of response that one often gets. It meant the job was done 30 mins after visiting Kent. 5*, well deserved.

Social distancing in place with security at the door. Most people wearing masks ... here is where I think the government should mandate the wearing of masks for the public visiting stores, so it's not up to the stores to enforce this rule themselves. Afterall, we do have stores here in Canada and particularly Newfoundland & Labrador that are run by businesses from other countries. Everyone was very helpful and polite and I was in and out in under 10 minutes with everything on my list.

I had an excellent experience at Kent yesterday in the paint section with Paul (I believe that was his name). I was looking for a stain for my stairs/railings and immediately I was told to wait here so Paul could help as he was the resident expert. He went above and beyond to show me multiple colours that I was interested in and on both types of wood I was considering. He took the time to explain the processes to my mom and I (neither of us had any idea what to look for) and even suggested other things for the renovation as well. His positive attitude made for a simple stress free experience which are not common these days. We also had help from a woman picking out stair railing (didn’t catch her name) but she was very friendly and knowledgeable as well. This kind of service is why I continue to go to Kent in mount pearl for all of my home renovation needs!

Kent sometimes has good deals, and normally a good selection of product, though a few times lately they've been out of something basic I need - this leads to me shopping elsewhere for all supplies I needed on that trip. On weekends, the store is busy, as one would expect, but the store is not staffed accordingly. Expect to wait 20+ minutes in line as they have minimal cashes open, and good luck finding anyone to help you on the floor. Seems to be a bit better on weekdays, but there was a weekday where my boyfriend waited over 30-minutes to speak to someone about a window, hence 2-stars. There are other places to shop that are far less busy with better service.

Poor customer service today when returning 2 light bases. Was treated poorly and told them to keep there products with no refund. They searched the packages as if i was a criminal and scrutinized my reasoning for a return. Looks like i will go to home depot from now on. Love the store but financed some building projects with Kent, they were bad enough when TD was doing it, but since Flexiti took over financing nothing but a nightmare. do yourself a favor DO NOT FINANCE THROUGH KENT !
