Garbage Hill is a great #Winnipeg attraction!!

Good place to bring family and dogs. Still can't figure out how they call areas in these places dog parks and it's just an off leash area. Where I come from dog parks are fenced in large areas, you can see the whole area to keep an eye on your dog though. But they have logs and gravel areas of different heights, grass areas, water fountains for humans and dogs, some have water dogs can swim in. But your dog cannot leave area and feels better knowing you can always see your dog and they cannot wander off and get lost or hit by cars or get into fights or something. They have these areas in almost every park now, even right downtown. They have also been putting them in where space cannot be used for much else. Like inside the loops at freeway entrances and exits. Perfect size. All it takes is a 4 foot high chain link fence around it. Some gravel and down some trees and a few days of work from a few city workers. But yall seem to be about 10 years behind everywhere else with almost everything here.

Nice park with good view of the city Park is built on a old landfill site so it has the nickname garbage hill. Good use of old waste land. Looks like it would be good for tobogganing in the winter.

Nothing exceptional, the only interesting part is that it is the only naturally elevated place in Winnipeg to view the landscape and the city skyline.

I would rather not call it a park as there are no trees. It used to be a dump which es covered with a little soil and gras and is now a nice viewpoint all over the city. You can go up just until almost the top and leave the car at the little parking there. Then there is a gravelway that slopes all the way to the topspot. On a clear day you can see very far. I actually saw the footballstadium out at the University of Manitoba. There once was a grill too but somebody removed the metal so there is nothing left to put your meat on.

Good views of the city. Could use some updating. Good place for a jog and taking your dog for a walk. The height of the hill is good. Not too challenging. It's got the best run for tobogganing in the city. Could use a covered picnic shelter. Possibilities abound with more money invested.

Public park set atop an old landfill. Trails for walking and jogging. Also serves as an off-leash dog park, and a toboggan run in the winter. Great panoramic views of the city, good spot for taking photos.

Wonderful off-leash dog park???? Hours are 7am-10pm daily. If the South drive entrance is closed, you can either park the vehicle on the street and walk up or park in the North lot. The South drive entrance is usually always closed through the Fall and Winter seasons as it a steep drive up hill and could be very slippery. Westview Park is also known as Garbage Hill as it is built over the old city dump. The slopes make this place very popular for tobogganing during the Winter months.

Went in the winter with a few people. We hadn't been there since we were kids, lots of people go tabboganing down that hill. There was no signs or markers indicating where the hill ended and the concrete edge of the road started so the first pass down the hill one of my friends got hurt.

Well there isn't really anywhere else to get an overview of Winnipeg, so by default this is where you go. Panoramic view of the downtown. Interesting compass sculpture to orient yourself. It's a closed landfill, and there tends to be lots of glass working its way up through the soil so watch your kids and pets. I would suggest being cautious at night; it isn't lit.
