(Translated) Beautiful park, quiet, well equipped and above all well located. (Original) Très beau parc, tranquille, bien équipé et surtout bien situé.
Good
Friendly people running it. Lots of sites, some not at all levels, but easy to change sites
Don't expect anything to be clean. Service is good but that's about it. The park needs so much work done
All season are great at the park. Winter activities starts during the first week of January with snow shoes and cross country ski rentals at North Bank Lodge. Look for opening hours because they are not open every day. Free access to groomed ski trails. Lots of parking space. During the summertime it's a trailer and camping grounds with free access to pedestrians and bicycles. Wonderful trails all year-round.
Great place for cross country skiing.
It's a nice park but very overpriced. The water is heavily chlorinated and smells like swimming pool water. Not good if you like tea or coffee so bring bottled water or invest in a good inline carbon filter. The park is good for a place to sleep when visiting or temporarily working in St. John's as it's conveniently located but if you have kids they will be bored silly with nothing to do. The park does have wifi but that's not what camping is all about. The playground consists of a swing, a slide and a couple of toddler type rocker thingys. My kids called it "Lame" For a park that's situated in the city, run by the city one would think there would be more activities available for kids.. for starters a decent playground or even some attractions even if you had the pay for it. At $48 bucks a night plus tax there's better options just outside the city with the same amenities for 1/2 the cost. At any rate, it is what it is but could be so much more if we had some forward thinking people at City Hall. Some things never change and having lived here all my life seeing the mayor's chair change but occupied by the same mindset as predecessors personally I doubt things will ever change. There must be some "carved in stone" criteria set for the mayor's position at St. John's city hall. "Raise taxes and ride the citizens for all their worth and give nothing in return" Hail Danny Breen!!
Always a great place
Excellent park. Lots of space in loop 4 with grrat WI FI. All so handy to the city. Tons of tours available.
Great place for fun with friends and family
Nice and clean campground. They have adapters for the electricity if you don't use 50amp but 15 or 30.
Great RV park. Trailer dump station is open to non campers for $20 fee.
Its well located. You do have to pay 10 per night to have a fire pit on ur site.
Beautiful spot....... right in the middle of the city!
Great service from the staff and the sites are quite nice.
Nice campground conveniently located in St. Johns's. Laundry room has WAY TOO FEW machines for such a large campground
(Translated) It's noisy (motorway and airport), toilet room, minimal but correct reception. It's a bit expensive. You even have to pay $ 15 per night to build a fire.
Excellent location to camp in St Johns. Right in the middle of the city yet feels like it is in the country. A cab downtown is around $13 so no need to worry about driving if you plan to have a few beverages while strolling around the downtown area. So much to see in the area.
An oasis in the middle of the capital city... Beautiful park with incredibly friendly & personable staff!
Skiing at the Pippy Park Winter Activity Center 4 km trail network lighted for night skiing groomed daily for classic and skate. Rentals from City of St. Johns
It was good
Large campground right in St. John's. You're close to everything fun! They even have an overflow lot if you can't get a site right away. Flush toilets and free showers, and laundry facilities. Lots of trees. Sites are sheltered and private. My only complaint was that all the public water taps pointed sideways or sightly upwards. It was really difficult to fill any sort of water container (bucket, dish pan, water bottle, etc.) If you don't have a site with water access, consider bringing a short hose so you can get water without showering yourself.
Beautiful campground right in the heart of the city.
Very convinent. Clean. Quiet in the off season.
Nice sites and park layout. Our site had a lot of garbage on it that we had to pick up before we setup the camper.
Could not have been happier with this park. So close to downtown a cab ride anywhere was always less than $20 even with a good tip. Driving a 33 ft RV can be at times not what you want to go out and about with. Turned onto Iceburg beer by camp staff and can you believe it one park employee had his Mom take us and a good hour tour by car of the city so that we could get a better idea of what we wanted to see. She wants to remain anonymous so to not put her son's job in jepardy however l can say she never stopped smiling ear to ear and the best"unpaid ambassador your city has to offer"
Great camp grounds for trailers and tenters alike. Close to walking trails and the university.
Nice quiet Campground. Only thing is if you want Wi-Fi you have to go to section 4. Which we did not know
Great place to go for a stroll
(Translated) Opposite the Memorial University of Newfoundland, it is a short walk from Highway 1, and it is convenient to stay here to visit St. John's. The camp is well managed and small compared to other camps in Newfoundland, but the location is excellent, so even a slightly higher price is acceptable. If you need wifi, you can only live in the 4th district camp, but there is no toilet and shower in this area. It is not a fish and a bear's paw. Fortunately, there are public kitchens in Zone 4, especially the next day, it is raining, and this roof can also be used for charging and cooking. It is recommended to strengthen the maintenance work and find that the public kitchen suddenly loses power. I noticed it at the door. The staff came very quickly. The inspection was normal, but he went off and broke again. We checked and found that it was because of the two sockets. One of the problems, the problem socket is covered by the table (it seems that the problem is not a day or two), but there is no hint, causing us to repeatedly power off when using at the same time.
Great spot, right in the city! Nice treed sites, clean bathrooms.
Really nice place and playground
Our review is just for the campground and trailer park. We have stayed at many campgrounds across Canada. Our experience passing through St. John’s at the Pippy Park campground was horrible. Here is what we experienced for during stay at an unserviced site. (So bad that I took notes last season)….. 1)Check out is 11am, check in 1 pm, they had two hours to clean the site and empty garbage, and it wasn’t done when we arrived on our site. 2)If you want a campfire, you have to pay to rent a metal campfire ring AND another fee for the firewood. 3) There was only one men’s bathroom stall for all the unserviced sites, the pull through sites, and one of the loops together. In the same area, only two women’s bathroom stalls. The bathrooms were filthy when we used them. We went in at 10:30am and they still had not been cleaned by 9:30 am the next morning. 4) The best wooded sites are on the loops (as are the seasonal sites) are 47 $ and they are on loops. The other cheaper sites that are unserviced 32$ and semi service 38 $ on the busy road that leads to the fully serviced loop and seasonal sites, so LOTS of traffic passing by you. 5) The road that has the traffic passing by you as explained above is extremely dusty and clouds of dust fall on your site. 6)This is an urban campground so you can hear sirens and traffic a lot. 7) When we check in we asked for an unserviced site, they gave us an unserviced site, but they charged us for a serviced site. We only found out by looking at the receipt.
(Translated) Very convenient to visit St John's. Toilets and showers are poor. Water barely warm at 06:00 AM and all day.
Located right in the heart of St. John's with a lot of activities for outdoor lovers.
Great camp groumds
(Translated) Well located if the intention is to visit the city. But we forget the tranquility and the outdoors, because there are the sounds of the city. The toilets and showers, frankly disgusting. The last time they had to be washed, it's been 5 years ????
This is a great campground and it is perfectly located for touring St. John's. Our site was rather secluded and oversized in a very good way. We stayed here for 7 nights and really enjoyed our stay. There are numerous hiking trails available. My only complaint is the limited size of the washrooms. We would definitely stay here again in the future and we recommend that you do as well. I think you will be very pleased.
Very nice place to stay, but lock your doors and windows as there are people with light fingers.
Excellent location. Our site was surrounded by trees and provided lots of privacy. Electricity, water, and sewer worked fine with no issues. I was prepared to pick up forwarded mail at the front office but each time they delivered it to my door before I could go get it. Laundry facility worked fine if not a little pricy. Some RV campgrounds have a laundry list of do’s and dont’s. Pippy did not over regulate other than reasonable quiet hours. WiFi signal was a bit weak but the cell signal was good. The staff were very friendly and we genuinely enjoyed our time there. Would definitely patronize this campground if we return to this area.
Groomed x-country trails were absolutely perfect today. They also have rentals skis or snow shoes, if you want to give either a try.
An absolute great place for people who want some relaxing time without spending too much money.
Love how this park is kept so clean and the scenery is beautiful
Nice peaceful and quite.
Great location to visit St John’s. There are pathways in all directions and a nice river side walk to Quidi Vidi and the city centre. Wifi available only on loop 4 area and just wifi. …
Great place ! friendly staff and well maintained and clean campground. We loved our stay at Pippy Park. I have however rarely seen a place where you have to rent your fireplace, 10$ per night, that is the only negative point, we enjoyed everything else
(Translated) Showers and toilets to modernize and very outdated. To make a fire at night you have to rent a fireplace $ 10 / day and wood. Perfect for visiting the city and the sites are surrounded by trees.
We went there yesterday for some snowshoeing. Well groomed trails for skiing and a nice snowshoe trail as well.
Nice sites and it is a quiet place to stay even though you are in the city limits.
Great day for ski but the snow is sticky. Needs more base and slightly colder temperature
Stayed here for two nights in a motorhome. Less than 1/4 of the sites have wifi and it is not great. Full hookup is $51.95 taxes included. They request that you not use the at-site sani dump for full tanks but empty at their communal one. The location is great for access to downtown but is the most expensive campsite we have encountered on our trans- Canada Trip. Would probably stay here again if we were visiting St. John's only because of the location.
Cheap cross country skiing
Slow internet, everything else is great, within the city Laundry room: wash is $2.75, dry is $2.50
Went for a ski yesterday with my daughter, and I have to say, it was such great fun. The trails were easily identified, and there was lots of activity everywhere you went.
A really nice place for a camp and a fire
Never know you were in the middle of the city! Lovely park.
Worker from the parc wake us up because of construction ...
Nice clean park close to downtown St Johns. Sites are nicely treed and private within the 30A service loops. The 50A area is a gravel parking lot and the only area with WiFi available. The 30A sites are large and saw many 40' plus rigs backed in nicely to those sites. The park is fairly expensive compared to other parks in NL but it's close proximity to St Johns makes the premium worth while. The WiFi as mentioned, is only available in the 50A area and there is a hot spot shelter in the area to sit and grab some data, however the WiFi was pretty much useless for the week we spent at the park. It is poorly engineered and was down more then up.
So great
Great service .
Great in the winter for sledding and cross country skiing. . Nice little park and a camping ground
(Translated) Nice campsite in town. Nice campground on the city. (Original) Chouette camping en ville. Nice campground on the city.
We loved this place, quiet and our campsite was nestled in the trees!
Awesome place for a wide range of activities, i really liked hiking to the ponds.
Great experience camping in Pippy Park. My only (small) complaint would be the ability to hear traffic from the major roads in the area.
We had a wonderful time snowshoeing!
This is an excellent campground to visit and see St. John's. The bus stop is really close to get into downtown without driving. Some of the campsites are really private while others not so much.
Very nice facility in the center of st. John's. Also quite expensive
Bathrooms are awful... it looks as if they do not clean the showers. The lair of dirt filth and mold is brutal. We were in overflow for $30 a night. Only really here so we did not have to tow around st. John's. Quite enough park and sites seem clean enough. Overflow is over grown with grass but still usable. Location is the only reason to stay here. In future I would drop trailer at abandoned Target parking lot for the day. Live and learn...
Reserved site 85, 2 weeks ahead of time. When myself and my 2 children arrived to go set up our tent, I was handed my permit to put in my window. The permit said site 83. I was informed someone booked site 85 for the weekend the day before I arrived for my reservation. Upon checking on the site, there was no one there. So I questioned it. They told me I couldn't have it. So I drove around to look for another suitable site. I found 2 other sites, both which had no one there... When I went back to the main booth, I was told both were reserved and that I had to pick a different one. I questioned why I couldn't take either site as the people who had reserved it were not checked in yet. I mean, they booked my site even though I had it reserved for 2 weeks ahead of time. Anyways, I settled for a different site. I also paid for a fire pit, and a second vehicle permit. That evening a friend came to our site and used the vehicle permit. The next night, my mother and father came up to our site to hang out for a bit, and the worker tailed them up in their truck . When my mother and father parked their truck the worker approached them and said they needed a vehicle permit. I told him that I paid for 2 permits. He told me that not how it works. I then told him he better give me a full refund for my site, and fire pit and vehicle permits. And he told me he couldn't, so I told him my mother and father being there was fine. I enjoy camping at pippy. Except this particular time.
I already reviewed.Why again??????
In winter, this becomes the Pippy Park Winter Activities Centre and the campground loops are tracked for classic and Nordic skiing and there are trails for snowshoeing. It's a fabulous place to get some fresh air.
Excellent
Really nice park and good sites close to St. John's and the University. Would have given it a 5 star if the park had better Wifi service.
Great campsite near everything in St John's. nicely treed with all services. Perfect!
Great facility that is very well maintained. Relatively private steps with full services, plus it's only minutes from downtown St. John's. I'll definitely return here in my next vacation.
It is a beautiful park and wonderful staff!
Great area. Nice campsites. Sect 4 was easy in and out.
(Translated) For the price ($ 52 / day), we expected better. Was section 4 where supposed to have wifi ... yes when everyone sleeps. Near artery main traffic, very noisy. Bathroom very old and ... soso. To redo we would have booked loop 1 or 2, no wifi but more quiet. Note: the city, owner of the Pippy, has the monopoly, because there is no campsite near Saint John's ... so ... But, the city is very interesting to visit (Original) Pour le prix (52$/jour) , nous nous attendions à mieux.
Just arrived after rving through Newfoundland. We're in loop 3 with full hookups and good privacy. Loop 4 is more open but you get wifi there. Checkin was easy and the nice young man took time to tell me places to go in St John's. 30 amp …
Nice camp sites. No WiFi but close to town and attractions.
my sister was visiting from Nova Scotia and wanted to take a quick tour of the trailer park so as to tell her husband when she returned home as they were potential clients. The park would not allow her free access for 5 minutes and told her she had to pay to get in. Needless to say when she returns next month with her family and 5th wheel trailer they will not be staying at Pippy Park. To turn away a potential customer is not very good , but I am, not surprised of this type of mentality here on the rock.
Not bad for campsites and location. Showers were out of order, rental of a fire ring/fireplace and wood was a ripp-off $ 26.00 for the fire place and one bag of wood was a huge cash grab. Park run by univ atudents who most had headphones on constantly. Daily rate was too expensive at $46.00 a night. Probably will look for another spot next visit.
(Translated) Campsite very well located in a large park, in the city. Several short hikes to do on foot from the campsite. Several sites are wooded. The cleanliness of the bathrooms could be better. To be able to make a fire you have to pay $ 10 per night to have a fireplace (metal barrel cut in half). Fires on the ground are prohibited!
Great
Very close to town. Private sites if you want. Tour bus will pick you up at the gate for tours of St. John's and outlying areas. Washrooms are spacious and clean. Great location. Close enough even to rent a car and have them pick you up.
Nice place. Location and price make it great.
Perfect for one night. Don't think to go there for a week. Showers are hot and clean
Very well kept Close to nearby walking trails
(Translated) I had read so many negative reviews about this campsite that we went backwards, relying on the proximity of downtown. We were very pleasantly surprised. The spaces are big enough, the staff polite and friendly, the wifi excellent. Our 5 nights were peaceful, with no disturbing noise.
Peaceful area, surprising for location. Trails go through which make it an awesome spot to go for a walk.
Great location right in the city, but not all that quiet as you can hear traffic and sirens. Big negative is renting a fire pit for $10 a night I’ve staying in over 20 different campgrounds and never seen that. Has a small park for the kids and the shop has a little bit of everything if you need something. Wifi isn’t really good but not something I care about when camping. Lots of trails that are great for walking/ running and told they go far. As a light sleeper in a tent trailer I would rather a park outside the city. Would probably look for another campground next time I went to St. John’s but it’s not a bad park over all.
Very serene.
Hot showers , very nice campsights. There was road noise but not a problem.
(Translated) Very nice site near St John, large site in the first loops and wooded.
(Translated) This is what should be an urban camping, yes we hear the city, we are there! Avoid the tent park ($ 25), it is sloping. Take a private lot with no service ($ 33) or service ($ 46). Plan a supplement to make a fire.
(Translated) Very nice place to do snow-related activities.
We had a wonderful time camping here
Perfect downtown location
Disgusting washrooms. Disgrace to the province.
Location is great, sites are great but it seems to be run by young people with no one that is willing to enforce the rules. Our neighbours dogs barks constantly and had company galore. They thought yelling at each other was an expectable form or communication. The park says no open burning so everyone brings their own metal fire pits. The washrooms are looking a little tired. Notices were given every few days to say don’t use the sewer system due to problems.???? It is a lovely spot but need more attention to supervision and management.
Washrooms are very dirty. Trails to go to washrooms behind our trailer are very dangerous. Trails not kept up. Washrooms are very dirty on trails and main entrance . Washers in the …
Wow, what a great place. Sites are not that level, but... Talk about a great location. The tour that comes there to pick up is the best we have been on on our trip across Canada.
An excellent location, in the heart of St. John,s. Stayed 6 nights & enjoyed its facilities.Ken July 25/18
Crowded. Small spaces. Outdated washrooms. On the plus side it is convenient to the city. Campsites are private.
Bathrooms need some work
They try their best BUT can't really use site sewer as a dump... it can only take a tiny trickle before overflowing. (AND the closest bath house commodes out of order for a day), sites are very tight for large rig to maneuver into, and a couple of sites had iffy electric. Had a great time!
cross country skiing in the winter!
Great location and park for visiting St John's. We found a nice private lot in September and enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful park, lots of trails, clean and a great location. Close to everything.
Awesome time with family..
Nice clean facilities including laundry. Great response from staff when we encountered issues with electrical trip at the site.
Older campground..sites surrounded by trees ..unless your in loop 4. Washrooms could use some repair/updating...Nice trail
(Translated) A beautiful campsite where many walkers and locals meet at this campsite. Also to St. John ist.es not far. Icv can highly recommend this campsite.
(Translated) It is a campsite in the city of St. John's, which is very convenient.
Clean well laid out campground. Close to everything. Nice well manicured entrance. The roads were very well marked. Security round the clock. It had a laundry mat too. I would definitely recommend it, as I would not hesitate to return.
Great park
Best campground located within st. Johns. Large park with good walking trails
Cool spot
Never camped here but I love their snowshoeing trails and the staff were friendly and helpful
Wonderful place to camp!!
Nice secure park
