A must see
breathtaking
Amazing views of a dramatic natural formation from two separate vantage points. The viewing pods are accessed by a trail, suspension bridge and boardwalk. The total walking distance is in the order of 1 to 2 km and there are a few steep and challenging sections for smaller children or individuals walking with a cane. Check the notice board at the trail entrance for more specific details. The site is equipped with toilet facilities and a small tourist information center and a clear set of maps and background information boards at the pods, explaining two theories behind the creation of the formation. There is an "honour system" in place to collect $2.00 per visitor to help defray the cost of caring for the trail network and infrastructure. It's about 11 km off the main highway. There is a small parking lot before the final ascent to the entrance to the trail network due to the steep grade of the final 3km of road to access the parking lot. Well worth the side trip. Can be done in an hour but plan for 1.5+ hours if you are towing a trailer and have to unhitch.
Amazing view of the canyon, nice short trail and plenty of parking. Definitely worth a stop.
A great little road on the motorcycle to ride to. Great views and a nice little hike.
Small hike of 1 km loop and 2 lookout point to experience the canyon. Amazing views. Worth visiting. Currently due to covid situation, its free always. Parking always have enough space. High chances of bear encounter at dusk. We reached at 7 in the evening and bear was right at parking lot.
(Translated) Very beautiful landscape (Original) Très beau paysage
Such a beautiful sight of God's creation.
Awesome view ????
Some of these places you have to visit them. A few minutes drive off the high road and a 2km hike to 2 look out spots. This left us speechless
It was an easy hike with an amazing view. Lots of trees, plants and gravel. There were some steep hills but definitely worth the trip.
Stop and see this if you have an hour, more or even less.
This place is beautiful and stunning. It was a quick stop and actually smaller than I had expected. I knew the ziplining and what not were way over priced so I decided to fly it instead. Check out the shots I got. Sorry for the window reflection on some of the shots.
Absolutely stunning, gorgeous, and brought back wonderful memories of my very first time here .... just wished the souvenir shop was open
Beautiful trails. Awesome views.
Easy short trail to beautiful lookouts.
Really cool lookouts. It's quite high and really cool to check out.
Wondering just wow how the Nature revolves, picture can't describe what we see in our own eyes, it's free to visit this place, at the parking lot there's a drop box $2 for maintenance, and what I always looked everywhere I go washroom ????????
Beautiful place, despite the tourists it remains very close to nature. Definitely a must if you're in this part of Canada.
Super easy hike and great views from both lookouts.
Beautiful canyon! Just wish that the road to get there would be fixed
Awesome, a must see
Ouimet Canyon is one of a kind here in Canada. A truly grand view!
It was a spectacular view.
Very beautiful, the two lookouts are wheelchair accessible. Very nice short hike.
Super cool spot!
A definite go!
This is a carved glacial path through the massive rock landscape of the Canadian shield. It took a lot of power to carve out the canyon and it has a beautiful, iconic rock sticking out on the left of the farther lookout. Definitely check this out while you are driving through.
Absolutely gorgeous and rich with history. A must see spot
It's been a long time since I've been there WOW The photos just don't show how amazing and deep it is WOW...
Nice view of the canyon
A bit of a drive to get out to it and a bit of a walk/hike around to see anything significant. Worth it if you do it though! Beautiful place especially in the fall!
Beautiful!! We did the trail to the 2 lookout points at the top of the canyon. Unreal. Wide paths and not too far from the parking lot. But it was a ways off the main highway, maybe 20 mins.
Worth the hike.
Beautiful view !
Must see.
This park is non operating; however, there is a washroom and plenty of parking. Overall the hike itself is relatively easy, the main attraction is the canyon itself. There are at least two lookouts if you choose the full loop. There's a fee which is self serve, we stayed at Sleeping giant so it's covered as part of your park pass.
Beautiful views, short hike - 1km loop
There’s a spot to pull over to detach your trailer and then another 3km drive in to the parking lot of the trail head. The park store is currently closed due to covid 19. The canyon itself is a short hike and a stunning view. Definitely worth checking out.
The Experience of walking both bridges was great BUT, THE COST WAS 20.00 DOllARS PLUS TAXES... PER PERSON EACH!!!! I have noticed other People comments saying they only paid TWO DOLLARS?? And my Family paid 20.00 dollars Plus Tax Each per person to walk 2 bridges and back of which took only 30 minutes!!!! I wouldn't come back!
Breath taking view. Worth seeing
Short hike that is absolutely worth the $2 donation box!!! I visited in mid-September and some of the leaves were just starting to turn. The canyon is breath-taking, and if you let out a good holler, there's a fantastic echo! The trail itself is easy and well maintained. Additionally, the road up to the park is hilly and curvy, which makes for a fun drive. There's also ample parking and washrooms with pedestal-style toilets.
Breath taking view from the top
Simply put, beautiful
Easy trails to amazing views of the very impressive canyon.
Absolute beautiful, short little 1km loop. Perfect stop to stretch your legs.
Absolutely stunning, insane marvel of nature. Some cool stuff to learn also on some plaques, very easy drive from the highway just a 15 min detour, 30 min round trip from the highway. Very worth it. It’s 2$ per person, in an unmanned deposit box, but it’s worth supporting this place if you can.
Washrooms were not open but that was nothing compared to the views here. Short little walk on a path that is well maintained
An easy trail that takes you to two lookouts over the canyon. Signage at the lookouts explain how the canyon was formed, as well as info about the plant life there. Self serve pay station with a fee of $2 per person . Definitely worth the visit
Beautiful views, even on smoky/hazy days! Short trail with two lookouts. I would return again. We did see a couple of bears in the area on two different occasions, once a bear on its own, second time a bear with her cubs. Keep an eye out. I was in the area during the Civic holiday long weekend
$2 per person (honour payment system). Very well maintained facility with stunning views on the two lookout points. You can sneak off the main trail to the edge of the canyon at points to experience how the canyon would have been without the two lookout platforms, but if you fall no doubt about it, you'll be dead! Randomly, has 4G cell service here as well!
Not enough people know about this hidden treasure. One should make it a point to see this canyon while traveling around the Great Lake Superior!
I can only imagine how beautiful this park is when it is not covered in fog! It was beautiful with it, and we could barely see anything! I highly recommend that people stop on their tour and take in the beauty. Take some pictures, then take in the beauty! It’s well worth it.
Amazing views, must see!
A beautiful place to walk.
Easy hike on the trail. Pet and kids friendly.
Canada’s “Grand Canyon”! Amazing sights!
Quiet and contemplative, not congested with people when we were there. Views are amazing, wildlife was varied, and experience was excellent.
Canyon was absolutely beautiful. Would highly recommend the extra drive off the highway to check this out. Only reason it gets 4 stars is because there was a film crew blocking one of the two viewing pods, without any notice or signs indicating the closure.
The views are undescribeable
Absolutely unbelievable!!
Awesome
Nice to view the canyons. Found the trail to be just about the right length (a 1 km loop). Not much of an uphill climb. There is a nice bridge and part of the trail is a boardwalk.
Bears chased us at 2 am dont go at night
no water facilities I don't like this park
scary bridges! Staff is extremely helpful, lots of seating spots around and very nice little gift-shop.
No effort, stunning views!
Stunning Views - The view from the Viewing Platforms is amazing and the walk from the parking lot to the platforms takes less than 30 minutes. The trails are taken care of and above average as most of the surface is crushed limestone. There are barriers only at the platforms so Parents with small children should be careful. There is a $2 Per Person Fee (Honour System) that nobody seemed to be paying while We were there.
Not a huge park, but has a nice walking path to some beautiful views. Most paths are wheelchair & stroller accessible, but if you do the whole loop there is one very short but pretty steep hill to climb.
Beautiful spot with really nice views. Worth the short drive off the highway. The trail is a loop about 1km.
So, so BEAUTIFUL. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ONTARIO!!! What pristine beauty!! Would love to come back here one day!!
Its pretty amazing! If you dont like heights you'll be uncomfortable...????
Another ‘must see’ when exploring around Thunder Bay. The walk is easily done in an hour. Spectacular views. Well maintained viewing areas and walking paths. Very family friendly (pet friendly too!). Highly suggest doing Ouimet Canyon, Eagle Canyon and the Terry Fox Memorial as a day trip (all just east of Thunder Bay).
The Canyon is amazing to look at and the trails are great. It's a bit out of the way but so worth the trip.
This was amazing. Bit of a rough drive in - but definitely worth it!
Super foggy day but made for amazing pics.
Gorgeous! A must see!
I really enjoyed myself, I would definitely recommend anyone to go check it out, it was beautiful!
Majestic and magnificent view. The hike is short and easy, fitting for all ages. Stay a while and listen to the wind.
What an amazing view
To bad it is manned anymore.
Awesome trails, fairly short (about 1km). Lots of shade on the route. Bathrooms on site and a fair amount of parking. Takes approx 1 hour minimum to fully enjoy the voews
Short hike, well groomed. The canyon itself is okay. A donation box asks for $2 power person - well worth it.
Road was great getting there. Park is beautiful and well maintained.. The views are outstanding!
Worth seeing even in the rain!
Absolutely beautiful and pristine park.
Excellent history
Beautiful canyon that exemplifies the beautiful geological features of the area. The trails are short and very easy walking. It is a fairly short stop, probably no more than an hour, with only two real viewpoints.
Great view & experience!!!
Amazing scenery
Absolutely stunning views
Well maintained park and spectacular views. A must see for everyone.
Unbelievable!
Nice little park very easy hike to the canyon with awesome views
What agreat view. Well maintained roads to get up there. Epic and beutiful.
Awesome view! Easy hike.
Cool small hike. Not too long loop, like 1 Kilometer. Grear view though!
Amazing view
Very nice 1k walk to two spectacular views of this unique geological site. Costs a couple bucks and worth it.
Fine view of interesting canyon
Year round scenic beauty
Breathtaking, highly recommend
Always fun and interesting worth the trip north to Canada to see
The photos of this place in the tourist guides aren't good enough. They can't show how amazing it is. If you like geology, take the time to stretch you legs and view the canyon from both lookout points.
Beautiful!
Great experience. Infographics were very helpful and educational. Beautiful vistas. Parking was a bit tight
Canyon was pretty darn cool! Just wish it was more accessible and there was a way to get to the bottom of the canyon
Amazing landscape, easy hike
Beautiful place! Truly like no other. Two dollars per person (honor system). Two lookouts, 1km trail (min walk in and out). One of them is wheelchair accessible. Beautiful canyon. The magnitude of it is breathtaking. Worth the drive.
Awesome spot to go. They have a free will donation to help the park, but no entrance fee. Quick loop to hike around and see the canyon views. Highly recommend it!
Ouimet Canyon Provincial Park is a remote provincial park with an easy and well-maintained trail leading to two lookouts that offer stunning views of the impressive canyon. Information panels give you some interesting details. It takes between thirty minutes to forty-five minutes for the entire round trip.
Super scenic obviously. If you're looking for an actual hike though this is not the place for you but you could pop over to Sleeping Giant for that.
Great little hike and even better views
Amazing park to visit if your staying nearby. Its a 30 mins- 1 hour hike to see this beautiful canyon, that has a very interesting creation story.
Spectacular views
Easy walk in and you're rewarded with beautiful views.
Amazing view from the top
Breat taken beauty, 100m canyon. Where artic plants can be found dew to permafrost at the bottom
(Translated) The cliffs, with distinct levels, look down as a canyon, and look up like a mural, which is truly ingenious! (Original) 悬崖峭壁,层次分明,往下看是峡谷,平视如壁画,真是巧夺天工!
Nice Views and close to Eagle canyon.
It was okay, visited there after a long day of travels to check out waterfalls. Was eerie to me not to hear any birds at the last few stops...at all
Loved it. Very peaceful and lots of greenery. It a short trail about 30 minutes
It's a very special place
Really beautiful little gem! Lots of bathrooms and plenty of parking. Short little loop trail with beautiful views.
Great spot if you can coordinate a picnic break on your drive. Park was unstaffed when I visited, but there's a billbox for those without annual passes. The trail to the canyon is easy for all ages. Two stunning lookouts greet you after a short walk
A great light hike to an amazing set of lookouts. Had some difficulty deciphering the maps and was unable to find the Southern marshland trail. Also seems that the washrooms are closed during the pandemic; this has lead to some washroom adjacent usage, but when in Rome... if that's not your bag, go before you visit, during the pandemic.
20 mins from the hi way but well worth it for the 15min hike to see an amazing place.
Both the lookouts are very nice places
Rough road still paved, lack of care put into the facilities and board walk . But to say skip this spot would be wrong . It is a beautiful view . Two spots for viewing this amazing area . I give my stars based on this being one of ontario best canyons.
It's a small great walk with disable entrance. Really decent small walk, probably less than 2 kn walk. Don't miss "Indian Head" there. Great experience.
Great views, nice hike. Worth the time!
Just a short walk to get a spectacular view and it's only $2 to enter. It's very accessible to walk, and you get a spectacular alp like view.
Spectacular! Highly recommend
We stopped here whilst driving the Trans Canadian. It takes about an hour off the highway when including the the drive and walking the circuit. Great views, well worth stopping. Although we visited early morning and the sun wasn't great for photos.
One of a kind attraction. Has around 1km walking (loop) to see two lookouts facing the canyon . It's a must go if you are in the area
Loved it, very easy trails and nice lookouts
If you are in the Thunder Bay / Nipigon area, stop here, it's worth it! You would not think that such a view is in that area. Absolutely breathtaking. Not a long walk into the canyon either, so it's good for people that aren't up for a full on hike.
Breathtaking views of the canyon and distant land formations. Beautifully serene and great hiking trails for adventure
Love this place, stopped there years ago,
Nice area
Just wow
It’s impossible to express in words or pictures just how amazing this place is. If you are in the are you absolutely must check it out!! About 90% of the trail is stroller accessible. There is a $2 honour fee system. Again, the views are out of this world.
Love Ouimet Canyon .. Nice short hike to beautiful views ...
Beautiful
Nice place to go out.
Stunning views from both lookouts, amazing views
Quick little hike to a great view of the canyon. Wheelchair accessible with a wooden boardwalk.
Beautiful view and eazy short walk
Amazing and Scary! Is a bittersweet experience!! Highly recommended hike! 10/10
Breath taking views
I NEVER KNEW SIGHTS THIS STUNNING AND GORGEOUS EXISTED IN ONTARIO AND BOY WAS WRONG. Very clean trails and facilities. Staff is friendly and very helpful. It's really good for hiking and running. Amazing place for camping and for the family. It has very beautiful scenic sights as well. Recommended 10 outta 10. The canyon is actually do big and great.
This is a must see, short walk to an unbelievable view. Take the time to see its not far off road. Liked it better than suspension bridge which which is closer to main highway. Don't get me wrong both are good but don't miss the canyon view
Public washrooms wheelchair accessible, $2 admission works on honour system beautiful views.
Though it's pretty far off the highway it is definitely worth the trip at least once! Beautiful sights to see! Easy & quick trail.
Breathtaking and will leave you in absolute awe. Easy walking trail, about 1km all together, will take you to 2 lookout spots. This is an absolute must-see if you ever drive by it!
Cheap, great view, friendly staff. What Else do you need. Strongly recommend visiting this place
Very beautiful lookout of the canyon. Short 1km loop with two lookout spots.
Very beautiful park, easy hike for canyon view. Canyon is beautiful, worth the trip
Beautiful place for hiking
Great place
No fee, easy and well maintained trails, with lookouts to show great views of the canyon.
Beautiful site! Well prepared and cared for. Nicely done!!
(Translated) Canyon with an imposing view and a lot of very interesting history, 2 points of view not to be overlooked! (Original) Canyon avec une vue imposante et beaucoup d'Histoire très intéressante , 2 points de vue à ne pas négliger !
Beautiful!!!
Interesting place. Worth making small detour from hwy 17
Breath taking
Beautiful lookouts!
Well maintained trail, easy walk out to observation platforms.
Definitely worth the drive in to see it.
Very stunning view and it's a very easy hike. It is worth going if you are around the area!
Breathtakingly beautiful. Surprised to hear how many locals haven't visited this place.
Cool spot. Easy little walk.
Great little hike with great views and interesting geological features.
Fog was in and did not see much but what we did see was spectacular
This place is incredible. Nice walk through the woods and there it is. Great view from two spots. Both awesome.
Amazing views
Beautiful vistas
One of my favorite places to take in.
Very cool provincial park and a very short hike to see the canyon
Short trail with beautiful scenic look outs. Perfect for a fall afternoon.
The view was great, the routes were both maintained and wheelchair accessible, and the canyon had a few signs explaining how the canyon was formed and the local spiritual beliefs having to do with it. No flush toilets at the time of this review though.
Unbelievable beauty, unlike anything you have seen. Pack a lunch !
Amazing Ontario has so much to offer. Definitely worth the trek. The Canyon is probably a two minute walk from the parking lot
Breath taking
A lot smaller than expected and very crowded , but provides nice lookouts.
Wife really enjoyed the scenery
Best 2$ I spent all day
Absolutely breathtaking. You can park close to the trail of approximately 1km. It goes in a loop and takes you to a view viewing points that are absolutely beautiful. There are multiple displays that discuss the significance to Aboriginal people. I wish I had more time to explore the park since I'm sure there is lots more to offer.
A nice easy hike to a true natural wonder!
Beautiful absolutely beautiful and the trails are outstanding too!
Great stop while travelling along Highway 17! Really nice interpretive trail and boardwalks overlooking the canyon. It's a really special ecological area, and its very nice and peaceful.
Stunning Canyon. My only suggestion would be to increase the length of trails surrounding the canyon; it's a beautiful area - more time to explore/view would be appreciated.
(Translated) The view is fantastic! (Original) Le vue est fantastique!
Brilliant and we were the only ones there..
TBay's Grand Canion lol. Less people and more trees ????????????
Beautiful views after a short hike, would definitely recommend
Great Views!
Just to clarify from review that says she will not go back as it costs $20.00. That is because it was not the provincial park but the privately owned suspension bridge, so if you are planning a trip be aware that there are 2 separate places to experience the canyon.
Worth the stop!
Breath taking view short hike wide smooth paths a must see if you are in the area.
Absolutely breathtaking!!! A must-see!!!
Fantastic view
Amazing!
As always, a wonderful visit. Skies were hazy with all the forest fires.
Incredible views and a very easy hike
Spectacular viewing not that far from the parking area. Also, very nice picnic area came in handy since it is somewhat isolated.
(Translated) Very nice place to connect with nature. The view is incredible, it is magnificent. I even saw bears. (Original) Très belle endroit pour connecter avec la nature. La vue est incroyable, ç'est magnifique. J'ai même vue des ours.
WOW. Take the footpath
Great stop along the Trans-Canada Highway. It's a bit of a drive to get to the Canyon but the view is worthwhile. There is a lot of parking and the entry fee is only $2 per person at the front of the park which was on the honor system at this time of the year (off-season). The walk to the canyon is short and well-maintained. There were 3 viewing platforms along the path.
What a gem! A short and very easy walk, but breathtaking views. Not very busy !
This place is incredible!!! Went here with Adult&Teen Challenge, Beautiful view unlike any other around this area. Totally recommend
Such an awesome place... I brought the trollz ...next generation loved it
Magnificent!
Spectacular breathtaking panoramic views of 150m wide gorge and 100m tall cliffs. Canyon floor is similar to the artic floor 1000km north. Day use only park. The skies were not clear due to smoke from forest fires.
Great hike and lovely views.
Nice trek of 1km for 2 sweet lookout spots, this place is definitely worth a visit
magnificent View everyone Needs to say that
Wow, a stunning location. The drive off the highway to access the canyon is well worth it. There is a short and easy trail that takes you to two view points over the canyon. There are limited facilities at the park.
What an amazing view this place has! The walk isn't very long, but it's worth it regardless. From the balconies overlooking the canyon floor, you can see lakes and mountains in all directions with forest covering everything. It is absolutely the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. It's free, but a two dollar donation to help keep the park maintained would be amazing for the staff! At the bottom of the canyon is a unique northern forest of trees that aren't supposed to exist for hundreds of miles from the area, but the climate allows them to flourish! Overall, a breathtaking place that I can't wait to visit again!
Neat view
Beautiful! Nice short hike.
Breathtaking
It is worth stopping by and seeing the nature.
Make time to stop it is well worth it
Clean park with great trail to viewing platform. Interesting write-ups on area. Buildings not open due to Covid. Roadway in quite bumpy for our motorcycles.
The views were spectacular and the paths were well kept (I don't remember seeing any garbage at all). There were no staff there and there is no camping which was a bit of a bummer but that is easy to plan around with other camping parks close by.
Amazing views for free !!Must watch
Such a unique area! Easy to get to and quite the experience to look down that far!
