Here you will be able to see the information of real people who know the products and services of Windy Lake Provincial Park (Park) near Sudbury (Canada).
Right now the firm receives a score of 4.4 out of 5 and that rating is based on 127 reviews.
As you can see the average score it has is very positive, and it is based on a very large number of scores, so we can be pretty sure that the rating is quite credible. If people have bothered to give their review when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to place opinions when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Park corresponds to the category of State park.
We went for the long weekend. The Yurts were big enough for 6 people but they weren't wiped down. I found dry blood on one of the matreses and when I took a wipe to the bed a whole bunch of dirt wiped off. Now, I'm not a clean freak but come on. The yurts in comparison to the more modern wooden yurts found at MacGregor Point Provincial Park are not as clean. The electric heaters would turn on every hour for 10 minutes in the middle of the night. No option to turn them off if you didn't want heat at night. One common comment to which I agree with is the train that is loud that goes along the park. The mosquitoes and black flies were especially fierce this weekend. So bring bug spray...lots of it. The lots were very private. The beach was very clean with pebbles. Little ones should bring water shoes cuz the sand was very hot. The beach was not crowded considering it was a long weekend. The outhouses near the beach were disgusting. Flushing toilets and an outside shower to rinse the sand off would be great. Wonderful friendly staff. Scenery was beautiful!
Great camping spot.
Great place to swim or camp!
beautiful park
Beautiful beach they have campsites here where you can pitch tents or rent a hut
The exceptional scenery(beautiful conifers and rugged trials) combined with state-of-the-art grooming make these trails the best in the Sudbury Region. Even though I'm a member at Walden, & Bioskis, this is still my favourite. It's really worth the drive!
Love camping here. My kids always have a blast.
Great place.. wish we could stay longer
Stayed in walk-in camps.. Restrooms are terrible. Camp sites are also little congested as nearby plants are grown high.. nearby camp is less than 10m so not much privacy. Not up to the mark.
Most snow and most challenging trails in the Sudbury area.
Great place for camping. Loved it!
An awesome ???? location you should never miss.. pure bliss ✨ ????
Beautiful park and very friendly staff, great beach area.
Awesome place to spend day. Very clean and quiet place with reasonable fees. Supportive staff provides you map and guide of whole park with driving directions.
Only issue with windy is that it's windy ;) haha
Our family camped for 10 days at the beginning of August. We enjoyed the very large private sites. We stayed in #32, which was a very large site and one of the few that didn't flood during a massive rain storm. It was a bit sunnier than …
This is beautiful and serene park. They have a lake with very clean water that you can swim on. They also have a playground for little children. There's no canoe or kayak rental inside the park. You have to bring your own canoe or kayak. If you are into swimming, they have a washing station in the day use area. The beach in the day use area is clean and well managed.
Great campsite, 5 hours from Toronto, lots of mosquitos if you're site is by the water, lake is not the best quality at all, but great for a distant camping experience
Awesome Place for a group people to stay for couple of nights..!! ???????? They gotta fix the poor roads conditions which are very horribly to drive on.????
Love the park! We were on the walk in sites, and loved how close we were to the water! We even kept our canoe on the site ready to go! The bathrooms could stand to be cleaned better though....
Great park. Trains passed through but to disturbing. Loved our yurt.
Good recreational park. Trains are very close and noisy.
It's a very nice park, lots are spacious and camp is clean.....then the train comes through. Great....been here 3 hours an 2 trains.
Fantastic place to camp and fish. Some real 'fighters' in those lakes.
(Translated) beautiful place to visit (Original) belle place à visiter
Lake was clean and not crowded. But at night train's honking is disturbing. Washrooms adjacent to shower room were clean but the toilets around camp area were stinky. They should work on ventilation. My 4 ???? is for the beach. I was happy to see separate beach for pets.
Outstanding ????
It's peaceful. Lake is clean, great beach and playground.
Close to home beaches clean.lots of privacy at campsites
Awesome day on the trails today.
Very clean, nice big camp sites and lots of privacy.
Great Park and we really enjoyed the yurts in the winter
Cross country trails are fantastic.
Beautiful place and extremely clean.
Windy Lake is my favorite place on earth, with the exception of the times when our visits there are sullied by the presence of my brother-in-law.
Not the best park to visit but there few things are good to visit around the park....
Great beach, had a great time with the kids
Outdated establishment. Also it is right next to a very busy TRAIN line. The train TOOTS LOUD every time it passes by the provincial park. Disappointed. We rented a yurt. We found it to be outdated compared to other parks, the bed is metal framed and creaks every time you move or sit on it. Kids had a very disturbed sleep during our stay. The beach, however, is absolutely amazing. Smooth and very clean. No weeds, no bugs, no dirt.
My weekend hideout! Staff is awesome. Beach is rough on the feet but kids dont care and plenty of space. Love it!!
Great campground. My church books the pavilion for our Sunday school picnic. Awesome times!
Great beach and park!
Have to pay to get in but it's a really nice beach, nice views, nice trail (lots of downed trees in the middle of the paths but not hard to go over)
Love love love the beach at this park. We go regularly to take our baby swimming. Beach is long so even when it's busy you aren't on top of each other. Only draw back is the water can get very choppy and cold even in summer.
Beautiful beach on a hot day.
stayed in one of the yurt sites. was clean and sanitized well. I love the water so clean and clear. the only downside is the train that passes by is pretty loud. besides that lots of beach options
Beautiful provincial park. Great Scenic views of the Windy Lake area. Bears are amongst the wildlife so don't leave food out or unsealed.
Beautiful spot, such a nice beach
Beautiful beach area. Hiked the 7.8 km. Trails.
Great park if it weren't for the train whistles and rumbling on the tracks ALL night long! If it's not the trains, you hear transport trucks using their engine brakes slowing for the railway crossing on Hwy 144.
Great marked trails and beautiful views. All season access.
Loved every second of it
We were looking for that Northern Ontario feeling and we found it. The lake is wonderful, the sites are good, washrooms and facilities typical of Provincial Parks. All of that takes a back seat however when you are yelling at each other on your campsite to be heard over the chorus of freight trains, helicopters and track maintenance vehicles. This symphony of machinery can be heard every few hours without interruption. Great park, unfortunately close to the real world.
In the radio free zone, and our neighbours were cranking music and had kids running through our site (around our tent). One phone call and the nicest wardens came and gave them a gentle reminder and talked to us, so we all still enjoyed ourselves. I really appreciated that! It's a beautiful park too, and the walk in sites have 5, right on the water.
It's a nice lush Provincial Park with clean bathrooms. The beaches are clean as well.
Fantastic park! The majority of sites are very private and fantastic beaches for swimming. The amenities haven't really been updated but I imagine because it's not as well used as some of the southern parks they don't get as much funding if …
This is a beautiful place to have a picnic!
Nice for picnic
Great place for the kids for bike riding.Short or long walking trailers
Easy to get lost. But nice scenery
Very friendly STAFF.
A wonderful picnic area. There seems to be a lot of camping sites here.
Aptly named lake. The kids love it.
Beautiful Campground
Great skiing
Beautiful nice cold lake, park is very clean in my opinion, overall my favourite place to swim!
Beautiful - Clean - Quiet - Peaceful (presently no pets allowed on beaches) - family friendly (no loud music etc etc) that can really take away from a family day at the beach. Keep up the amazing work!!!
Excellent place for family fun
Love it here. Clean facilities and the water is crystal clean.
I need to come back. It is beautiful. We have two rainy days.
Railway noise is a serious source of annoyance for people trying to rest and sleep here. Washrooms are clean though, yurts are old.
The marina is privately owned and they are NOT friendly
We had a great time
I visited Windy Lake on the winter. It is a beautiful location, it was all covered in snow. I rented equipment for cross country skiing and had lots of fun. Trails are super well kept and diverse for all types of skiers. Volunteers in the chalet (where you can rent equipment) are super friendly and knowledgeable. Equipments are really good, new and high end. I totally recommend this place!
Great experience nice, friendly campers no excessive noise only downside is the train tracks right beside the park
Great little campground. Huge beach. Nice playground for kids. They even have a cabin to rent on the water!
Very well managed park, lots of campsites, and a nice beach.
Terrible roads for a trailer. No potable water, and not informed before, or even at check-in. Sites were large, but the electric was way over by the other site and we could only reach it by jamming our trailer between 2 trees
Park is good for camping, to be exact RV camping... nice lake with boating option. But lots of bugss????, we usually love sitting late at night but wasnt able to do that due to lots of bugs
It was our first time there. Love the place. Good for fishing especially if you have a boat.Clean swimming area and washrooms could have been more cleaner.
I was interested just in the Windy Lake waterfall, to which you can get from the parking lot near the railroad. The path to the falls leads from the parking lot, over the train tracks and down on the other side to the lower falls. To the …
Very nice campground, we got lucky to last minute booked the walk in sites which was right beside the lake. It’s cold at night. So for these who are visiting in September, please bring enough blanket and clothes. Kids & pet friendly. The …
The park and lake are nice, but the railway line is right next to the park and trains go by all night sounding their horn at the several nearby crossings. We got little sleep. The highway is also close by and trucks use their engine brakes …
Beautiful day on the beach. Clean well kept picnic area and lovely breeze off the lake keeping the insects away.
Great leash free dog area with a beautiful view.
An amazing place to bring the family only 30 minutes north from sudbury. The beaches are clean, you can walk out a good distance with the kids. LOTS of room for the kids to play.
Good for day use but don't camp overnight. Small sites and there is a train that goes by multiple times per night 3-5 times!! Barely got any sleep while there
Very clean camp ground
Beautiful Lake. Beach is huge, nice big park for kids to play, separate Beach for dogs, camping ground is really nice. Fishing is spectacular! Winter and Summer. Close to restaurants and not far from town for supplies.
A bit of info on the boat launch at Windy Lake provincial park. I am a new boater and found it hard to find info on the boat launch. The boat launch is functional and provides ample parking. The water is only about 3 feet deep until you get …
We always have a great day here. Not many people make the drive anymore. Always lots of room to set up for the day.
Campground itself is nice and lots are big, but you can't walk to the beaches, which is super lame.
Some very poor drainage at different sites, but lots to do and a gorgeous beach.
(Translated) The campsites are quite large and the view is magnificent. The people who work there are friendly. Small problem, the majority of the toilets on the site of the park are beautiful except those of the tent sites! (Original) Les sites de campings sont assez grand et la vue est magnifique. Les gens qui y travaillent sont sympathiques. Petit hic, la majorité des toilettes sur l'emplacement du parc sont belles sauf celles des sites de tentes!
Nice park, peaceful And great swimming And campgrounds
Nice big open beach, beautiful clear, clean water, nice boat launch, and walking around the park a little, the camp sites seemed pretty ideal. It's a bigger lake so it will be a bit colder for swimming and yes, true to its name, there is a bit of a breeze (or more) on regular occasion so do aim for the hotter days.
Windy lake was good and we had a Yurt . The washroom near us was the one without flash which is disturbing however you can use the main flashing washroom with shower and lundry room in the center of the park.Rental Canoes are not available in this park but you can drive up north to halfway lake to rent a canoe or kayak.
Good
Beautiful views, clean. Relatively quiet. Trails
A narrow strip of sand fronts the lake, with playgrounds for kids and the typical camping spots offered by provincial parks. All in all, an inexpensive and wholesome place to retreat with the family.
Very close to a train track and the trains blasts the horn right around the corner late at night. If you are camping in a tent, it's a horrible wake up call! Lake itself is very nice with a very good Sandy beach...
Place was calm and beautiful. Well maintained.
Very clean beach with great staff. The water is very clean.
Great place to camp, was able to see stars and satellites like never before. Bring earplugs for bed time, was woken up 4 or 5 times from the horn of the trains coming in and out of the city.
Beautiful lake. The beach is a bit of a hike though.
This park is currently closed. All trails closed and you cannot park. ;(
Big lots for a nice private stay in a provincial park. The beach are is far from lots but you able to get there in 3 of the trails or by car. Expect noise from the highway or from the train if you're in the lots 30ish to 60ish.
Great park and beautiful lake
Love the place ❤
Nice park but picnic tables need an upgrade
Huge campsites available. We used like half of ours. The beaches are great for kids - the sand is quite coarse so wear beach shoes or prepare for a great exfoliation. It's perfect for sandcastles though. We spent multiple days at the beaches. Playground is right on the beach as well, which my kid loved.
It's a good park. I especially liked that there weren't too many people at the campground or the beach. It's noisey because the train is constantly going by and the highway isn't far either. It's a great place to bring your dog. The dog beach is huge!
Great place family friendly. Made great family memories here.
The place is not that fun, if you enter windy lake exact, you might find a beach but good for one group of people only, not even a small beach you can see. Just a part of land, but the water is good. Can go there if not there to soak the sun and relax on beach. There is another water body, windy lake provincial park, it is a bit good than that but get ready to loose your pocket a little, no free parking. Gotta take permissions from a lot of people and no life guards available at that place. Swim on your own risk and if you are scared of insects, not a place for you buddy. Good luck.
Great place for camping. You can even rent yurts there in winter. Groomed ski trails
Nice park. Clean comfort station. Dump station well maintained, if a slightly awkward layout. Many sites have really good privacy. Some are rented out to seasonals, which seems to leave those people with the impression they’re entitled to …
Safe, quiet, campground monitored closely by the park rangers. Beautiful Windy Lake Beach near by. Only cons are that the trains going by Blair their horns and it is very loud. Noise is more manageable if you have a trailer, but if you’re tenting out, it will wake you. Also, we were only playing some music off a cell phone and shortly past 11pm the rangers came and told us to turn it down when it wasn’t even loud to begin with. Definetely not a campground to go to if you’re looking to party a little bit. Very family friendly.
We went in winter(Feb 2020) in their cabins for two nights , very clean. This park has a ski chelate which is a big plus
Was a little bit dirty, some litter on the beach and in the grass but otherwise very nice
Very spacious campsites with good privacy and a beautiful sandy beach. Clean and well-maintained facilities. Unfortunately, the park is next to a very busy rail line that crosses the highway near the campground. Train horns sound long and loud at all hours of the day and night!
Train is very loud! Beautiful spot, mostly quiet. For a provincial park it doesn’t seem the rules are followed (cars speeding, loud neighbours) Lots of stars to see! Not much wildlife
Nice park, was Not expecting a train going by every 2 hours waking us up. They don't sell anything except wood. Staff were very friendly!
Gorgeous camp sites. Walk in suites along water are beautiful. Out houses need to be cleaned more often and prepare for sleepless nights. Train goes by at least 2 to 4 times a night.
I fond that the park is in disrepair. They need to clean up all the dead trees and clean up group camping. They should have better access to the beach for handicap people. Not handicap friendly at all. Very disappointed
Stopped for one night on our way home from camping Lake Superior Provincial Park. Must admit was a tad disappointed with the upkeep of the roads to the sites. The pot holes were numerous and rocked our camping vehicle quite abit. Was quite the large gathering of water at our entrance but noticed other sites were worse off than ours, plus our picnic tables were in terrible shape. I have taken pictures but don’t see how I can post them here. I know things are behind because of co vid but regular maintenance of the sites and roads should be the norm.
Nice park but the trains are way to frequent and very loud
Nice camping lot...
Average. Nice sized beach for the area.
Beautiful Park and Lake. Spacious camping sites. The Park needs a face lift. The roads going to camp sites are terrible and in need of grading and fill. Pot wholes everywhere.
Beautiful park beach camping and boating accommodations
Had a nice swim. Admission came with a free air show.
Pro= nice private lot Close to tap water Cons= out houses need a step to get into washroom. Cons= no ice Orange Railing to take up Path back to campground Needs to be refurbished.
Fantastic little park. Too close to the Highway though and trains pass by at least 5 to 6 times during day and night. All in all a good park.
This place is absolutely beautiful as long as you don't come during bug season. Lots of places to explore and launch a kayak from. Only downside, found out showers were closed due to covid after arriving.
Yurts were great! Even in -36 ????
Great lunch & real fast friendly service ????
Very nice Park, even when closed!
Wonderful Park for kids decent multispecie lake to fish
Beautiful park close to the city. Excellent for a day out with the kids
Its amazing nice quiet beach with clean water
Fantastic beach with nice clear water. The park is right beside the highway and train tracks so there is a bit of noise. Lots of nice sites but many are seasonal. Theres also a few double sites for 2 trailers or many tents. Roads are very dusty.
The camp spots were big a d easy to back into with our 33 foot trailer. Lake was beautiful. The train however was annoying. The privacy of the spots could be improved a bit with more deciduous rather than coniferous trees between spots for the area we were in.
Writing this review from a campsite in the park. This park has a lot going for it but too many of the facilities are in bad need of a face-lift. Now I'm not expecting an outhouse to be the picture of luxury but there are too many sinks and …
Large sites, but the roads need a grader
No lifeguard, 15$ admittance on Fri, Sat and Sun. Parking lot operator is kinda awkwardly set up but it's a nice place
Absolutely wonderful. Lake was free of leeches, fresh and the view breathtaking.
great except for trains at night
Park is beautiful BUT the comfort station was one of the worst we have seen in all the provincial parks we have stayed out. Extremely run down and out dated. The out houses for the cabins were actually more maintained than the comfort station. Also not impressed that the coffee maker that was in the cabin was a Keurig - not environmentally friendly nor usable if not told in advance. Surprised that a Provincial Park would offer something so plastic wasting! Beach areas were lovely and the cabins are nicely set away from the camp sites. Noted that the camp sites also seem to all be set back in adding more privacy which is always a bonus.
Excellent camp ground and employees were very nice and helpful. Toilets could use some work though, the smell was atrocious.
I'm sure it's much better in the summer
It's a great place to spend the day. The beach is nice. Bathrooms are well maintained and clean. However, it's next to a railway track. Freight trains in the middle of the night disturb sleep. I recently stayed in a Yurt for 2 nights and didn't get much sleep. The yurt itself is quite nice, comfortable and spacious. Definitely recommend staying in yurt at some other park. It's equipped with electric heater set on a thermostat. That's another thing, the starting of the heater is very noisy, but it keeps the yurt at comfortable temperature.
It's amazing to rent a cabin for winter at Windy lake Pearl. You have everything you need inside the cabin (refrigerator microwave and coffee machine) the Nordic sky club team is amazing. You can rent sky and do cross country skiing with in the park or take a longer trip on outside trail by getting a separate permit. Also the snow shoeing trail are very nice and ready to do as well.
Rented the cabin and it was lovely! Beautiful inside and the view of the lake is awesome! Perfect for a holiday!
Excellent staff. Being a seasonal camper, the staff are always ready to help you and make your visit the best!
Great
Love this place! Clean, quiet, perfect for the family. Beautiful beaches for everybody including pets. Fishing is very good!
Wonderful small park. Biggest downside was hearing the trains pass by the park at night
Great place, but Trains in the night ruin all the fun. Expect 2-3 trains every night. They come, they honk, they leave. They come, they honk they leave.
beautiful park
To expensive to launch a boat
Excellent
Love the beaches especially the yurts.
Small park but it has massive sites a beautiful beach and the onaping falls that are nearby are amazing
The bathrooms and showers were ok. They could have been cleaned more often. The sited are really big and the beach is nice. We loved the dog beach.
Nice beach, big clear lots. Bring your own wood though, they are still selling sponge wood.
Great place to be in
Great site but lost the noisy neighbour lottery. Need to better enforce your no radio zones
Absolutely stunning place...
Beautiful park. Brought our boat here for the day during our stay at Halfway Provincial Park. Nice big Lake and a very nice pet beach. We've definitely added this to our list of must stays.
Wonderful! Great beach, too. Be careful if you try to find the hidden waterfall. Go through the tunnel with the water; do not try to climb the railway embankment.
Warm cozy chalet to return to after a couple great skis at Onaping Falls Nordic!
Very private sites compared to a lot of other campgrounds I've been to. Love Windy Lake!
My number 1 camping place
Nothing like being able to spend the day at the beach and still be close to home!!
Awesome family camping.
Nice lake
Totally enjoyed the camp. Roads need a bit of upkeep
Great spot and Nordic club
A favourite park. But the beach is so far fro. Campground.... need to drive to beach. Also hope you like trains at night.
Nice park. Nice staff.
They have nice big lots. Many kms of beach. Nice exercise area for dogs. The facilities are rather clean
Great park but they need to think about fixing their roads - killer on trailers
Lovely small quiet park. Large sites and great trails. Sadly many empty sites but we had a great escape! Lovely breezy trees. Be prepared for cool nights. Perfect scenic getaway. Lots of roads to let little ones cycle the park safely. Bring …
Good place to go swimming get away for the weekend
It was great
Great provincial park. Nice campsites, great beach and day use area.
So the roads inside the park are beyond disrepair. The potholes are deep enough to swallow a Honda civic. It is not just one or 2 potholes..it is all the roads the entire length of the roads. Easy to snap an axle at slow speeds. The train …
