Just when I thought I had seen the most stunning provincial park, this gem of rustic and pure beauty raised the bar! From the drive through Port Dover to Port Rowan it’s a rolling, winding drive through pastures, waterways & quaint towns. The park itself, is rural, rustic & somewhat desolate at this time of the year, as nearing end of season, but the sand dunes, red sands & roaring waves of Lake Erie’s warm waters was a paradise getaway, all in a day’s trip:) Aside from the scattered picnic tables on the beach shore, amenities are throughout the campsite. If you prefer the “road less travelled “, this maybe very enticing! Since it was my first visit, very likely the ambience & visitors are significantly enhanced in peak season but nevertheless, planning to return. Some of the road signs: “Turtles crossing”, “Give wildlife a chance” & the scariest for me was the sign,” Brake for snakes “. Enjoy!
Limited privacy on sites. Washrooms and showers were always clean, impressive. The biggest problem and it is a problem for a number of Provincial Parks. The lack of product in canteen/stores or lack of stores period. Long Point had lots of Souvenirs, as far a staple items go, basically non-existent. The exact inventory consisted of 6 cans of Pepsi 6 cans of Coke(first time ever for Coke) 8 bottles of water. 1 box of Graham crackers, 2 bags of Marshmallows and 4 Jersey Milk Chocolate bars. 2 pkg. of feminine hygiene products. A cooler of ice cream, that's it. Campground full of children and the closest place to get Milk is 4 Km's away. Like I said, this is a problem throughout Ontario Provincial Parks. Great Parks to visit, just stock up, and Be Prepared.
It is a very nice area, wetland is well preserved, easy to witness birds, turtles, fireflies in the night..... The camping site is excellent.
Beautiful park. 5 beach entrances from same parking lot #2 for dogs. Accessible entrances further down. Clean white and red (hot) sand beach. Several sandbanks in water for shallow swimming. Great spot to kayak down point. We had a great day at the beach and stopped at First Mates just out the gates for tasty eats.
We love this park. Love. I have been going there for over 25 years, and it is just as amazing every time I go. The park is clean, the sites are great. The big feature is the gorgeous beach that stretches the entirety of the park. Port Rowan is a cute town to visit if you’re into doing that on your visit. There’s also lots of other local attractions. The park in the main area of the campground is awesome, and my kids have always loved it. Do not hesitate to book here.
It can be a bit chilly with the wind. It's not quite as busy as a lot of Parks, but there were a fair number of people there on the day we visited. There's a few picnic tables and a washrooms/change areas. There's camping too in other sections of the Park.
Went to Long Point today and was happy to see the nice long stretch of water. The beach has red, wet sand in some parts, and a few picnic tables for use. The facilities were good and easily accessible. Unfortunately my low review is all about the black flies. There are waaayyy too many flies that really made the day very uncomfortable and annoying. At first we thought it was just our bad spot so we moved but then after talking to other visitors, we realized we weren't so special after all. Everyone kept moving spots! Although I came prepared, bug spray does not help. Despite the beautiful day and nice water, it was hard to enjoy, eat, and relax because there were a lot of them biting us. I also want to caution folks who have little ones since we also saw a garden snake on the pathway (parked in P4), which was quite scary for my kids. Thank God the snake knew to follow social distancing rules! ????????♀️
Great in the Off Season, way too crowded in the Summer. Love it as a Kitesurfing spot.
A rugged, picturesque place away from the busy daily world. Don't come just to look from the small beachy spot where everyone stays - go further along the coastline to the direction of the Grotto, for as far as you want (the Grotto itself …
Very nice, long beach with clear water. Not too crowded.
Terrible place. We won't recommend this place to any of our friends. The water was not clean at all. But it's not the worst thing. The nightmare was that flies were everywhere. Each of us was surrounded by more than one hundred of flies on the beach. Some campers left before their check out date because they could not stand the flies anymore. Greetings were changed to "Awful, euh?" It's a shame that our camping was ruined by the disgusting flies.
Long (really! it was!) beach. sands are white and some where reddish color, not seen earlier! water is not so clear, bit muddy. good place to spend time.
I did not like this place, swim area at 350 Erie Blvd, one of the poorly managed provincial park. Tons of mosquitos, water quality not that good. The worst thing of this place is the parking. They took cad14.5 as parking fee, paid cash as their machine was down. My friends car stuck/sunk in sand (see pic), we need to call tow. Calling tow in remote is expensive. They took parking fee, but did not help as at all, why should we pay for bad parking spot. If you go be careful of parking. There is not enough garbage bin another invonvenienc.
My family and I love this park! We camped here a few times. The sites are sandy and if it rains they don't get flooded. I also like that the ground is soft. The sand is everywhere though. This is a family friendly park. Lots of families with kids camp here. The lake has shallow and deep spots and perfect for everybody. Bathrooms and showers are clean. I recommend this park for everybody who likes camping, sand and warm lakes.
A friend recommended this place recently and I would rate it as one of the best beach. Very good water and sand.. kids can enjoy the water and play with sand. During weekend it can be extremely busy but it is long beach so you can certainly find some place. Don’t forget to carry your sheet and beach umbrella..
Late August lake Erie, the water was really warm and comfortable, nice beach lots of sand and space to play. Lots of parking but very difficult to get to the beach. The paths are all sand hills. The safest place to get to the beach is the left side of the parking lot. Still a good struggle to get up the hill with all of your stuff.
What a beautiful drive out there from London. A little bit of bridge repair going on , but they kept traffic moving . The town itself is beautiful and the parks staff so kind and friendly. The beach was beautiful, and clean and people were spaced out . I almost never swim in the water but I did there , several times ! Loved it . Was paradise ! Highly recommend and I plan on going back to try a few food places I saw along the way .
I tent camped the last week of August. Out of control on bitten flies in the park AND within the provincial park ONLY! Was bitten every minute in the campsite and I mean it. Flies were everywhere in Lake Erie area, but it was manageable (only being bitten ocassionally) in the nearby towns, attractions, wineries, beaches, but Long Point Provincial Park decided to do nothing to resolve the problem and blamed "bitten flies in season" (a paper sign was put up a day after we arrived). We left the site early everyday and were unwilling to return to the campsite before late dinner time just to avoid the flies. Our neighbors were all complaining about the flies, and we encountered campers left early due to the out of control flies situation. Extremely disappointing. We camped in individual site. I checked adjacent sites and we all had the same problem. We talked to a camper at the gate and he was leaving early due to the flies situation. I had a feeling that the group campground was less affected. If you want to visit Lake Erie/Long Point, try a different accommodation.
One of the best Camping experience I had ???? Barbecue is restricted at the beach but there are Barbecue pits at the camping site ???? …
we LOVE this dog friendly beach!
Some really good tent camping sites just yards from the beach. Its important to bring good tent pegs, the strong winds will knock your tent down.Awesome to watch the storm roll in and feel the winds(if you're into that). Beaches are nice, soft sand and shallow warm water .Overall a decent experience, clean washrooms, clean campground.
Warm but quite wavey and windy spot, always great. Kayaking in the marsh with calm waters a delight, we came at the end of the long wind and it got quiet as we enjoy our camping for a few more nights.
Beautiful park. Fantastic beach area. I will visit Long Point P.P. again.
It is a very beautiful sandy beach. The sand is hot but soft and the water looks like a beautiful priscine light blue on sunny days. There are plenty of picnic and BBQ areas and a big parking lot. The only thing is in the beginning of the water there is a lot of bird feathers and some other... Stuff that come to the surface water which makes it look a lil nasty. BUT the further and deeper you go into the lake the cleaner and clearer it gets. Also the water is pretty shallow for the first couple dozens of metres and it's definitely warmer than other beaches as well.
Some of my cousins stayed here for a weekend and felt indifferent about it. In the campground we were in, the sites were either sand dunes or was a marsh (because of the rain we received at the time). Nice, long beach that we unfortunately could not take advantage of. I am a little biased since it rained the whole time and we could not do much, but I still see the potential of the park on perhaps a nice weekend.
Beautiful beach. Very soft sand, not rocky at all. The water was too sandy and the waves were too big.
Fun times at this spot. Aside from the constant spraying of chemicals in the sky by a military aircraft... time at the beach was fun. People at the kiosk at the entrance were great and friendly. And it was nice to see unmasked employees and …
Wonderful soft sandy beach. Great place to relax and float in warm shallow waters. Enjoy grilling on the beach and amazing sunsets. Big plus - campsites are less than 5 mins walk away.
Our favourite Southern Ontario Beach. The park has such a huge beach and you can walk so kilometres. Last year the water was extremely high up so there was less sand so less space but that was still ok. The water is always warm and clear on sunny warm days. The sunsets are beautiful ????
Scenic road route. Excellent customer care. Rough biking trail. Nice and serene walk trails. Fishing is allowed, 2 per person. Historical places to visit. Firewood will be provided, based on order. Clean and neat washroom/shower. Ensure u take ample mosquito and bug repellents.
My favorite beach in Ontario. Sand is smooth, silky, and the contrasting colors of sand, water and sky are therapeutic to the eye.
A really enjoyable experience, It is absolutely breathtaking to swim here during the sun set. The glitter of the sun on the water, the Sunkist skin and glowy eyes makes the perfect fun for photos and a memorable nature experience.
Good size camping sites....some right at beach, some in the open and others in the woods. All sites come with generous power hook ups and fire pits with grill. The beach is clean and has white sand as far as the eye can see. The washrooms are well maintained and a huge recycling area is onsite. I really loved my stay and I recommend it to all campers with RV's, Trailers or Tents. The fishing however, sucks balls.
Had such a lovely day there. We were happily surprised that there was free day admission. We went on a Tuesday, it wasn't busy.
I love this beach. It's very clean and there are always people around. Such beautiful scenery of the boats out and the many fishing boats. I live it there and can't say enough about this place
Beautiful beach and water. Wear sandals on the sand, it's HOT! Not overcrowded and the water was the perfect temperature mid August. Enjoy this beautiful gem
Beautiful place. Great sandy beach on one side and shallow calm bay on the other.
Beautiful beach! I totally recommend you to visit ????. Follow me Instagram.com @ifajardo87 for more great suggestions about where to go and what to do near Toronto.
Beach is nice sand isn't rocky and is pretty deep so I had fun diving aggressively while playing spikeball (just have to make sure no sticks are around). Went to the beach area near parking 3. Water was a bit murky and cool but nor as cold as I'd thought it would be. Water goes from knee deep to waist deep back to knee deep around 10 meters in before dropping again so can go pretty far with walking but the waves get stronger so be advised. Overall great trip would recommend.
Great beach access and camp grounds. Staff are friendly and helpful. Free beach use on weekdays =)
Amazing beach! Extra thanks to the crew next to us with the awesome music! Don’t ever let anyone tell you to turn it down!
Entrance was free for the day. Plenty of parking, though does fill up. Beach is long and sandy. Washrooms available. Should bring your own food and drink. Great day to spend with the family as long as the weather cooperates.
Beautiful place enjoy ur weekend. You can go since morning and enjoy till evening . Can place games there . Great place to have fun with family. Clean and healthy atmosphere.
A second tier Ontario provincial park that offers camping and a beach. Interesting things to do await outside park boundaries.
Very nice beach. We camp there. If you cannot get to sandbank, long point is the best alternative. Sand has 3 colors red black white.
Its worth it if you love the beach but there are no trails to explore..but the huge sandy dune hills are neat to see! And the wetlands which are a natural biosphere.. If your into bird watching I'd say this is a great place for that.
If you are a sand lover, this is the place for you. It is a good place to enjoy the water, the camping spot have not privacy, but they are comfortable and quiet. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The beaches are quiet and wide.
Park is extremely clean beach even cleaner, I would recommend it to everyone. Their isn't many amenities as it's small but the closest town isn't that far about 30 min away. Will be going back many times
My favourite beach in Ontario but no notice of the biting Stable Flies which were a nightmare. We packed up after one night. Not recommended late Aug - mid September.
The worst time to visit this beach and camp ground, we stayed at cottonwood, it was manifested with black flies mosquitoes and all kinds of bugs. These black flies sting and we got at least 10 bites each in the first hour. Locals said we came at the wrong time, all the campers left when we did the next morning. Went to the beach and same thing happened unless we go deeper into the water, very unpleasant experience and we do camp twice a year so not new to the wilderness. Facility was actually decent, showers and bathrooms at cottonwood was clean. Do not book campsites too close to the main road as you will hear them at night.
It's a nice long beach, enjoyed completely there. The only issue can be that the sand can get pretty hot to walk if the temperature is above 25 degrees and the day is sunny. The water is pretty clean to go in. A nice line of trees alongside the whole beach...so you can even sit under those trees at some places. Proper public washrooms there. Limited parking can be booked for this provincial park so the beach don't get overcrowded. You cannot drive on the beach as the beach is separated by the trees on slightly elevated land.
All around a very good location and the camp sites are decently spaced, sized and maintained. The nature and my personal experience was so amazing that I can’t give it less than 5 stars, however please be mindful of the following if you haven’t visited this beautiful place before: - on site essentials such as :burning wood, kindling, ice and logs are priced higher though I bought on site and the convenience and the support alone was worth it. - it is close to a hunting ground so you might hear shots early in the morning during open season. - sandy shores and camping grounds
Went down for camping last weekend and can't believe I haven't visited long point sooner. The beaches were awesome and the night sky was unreal! The dog beach we visited was actually really nice and the water is quite shallow there which is great for the dogs to run out into the water and swim. Can't wait to go back for another visit.
My husband and I love taking our 3 children to Long Point. It's so beautiful!!!!! They have a dog beach if you love bringing your furry loved one along !! It's so peaceful and clean !
Want a Californian beach vacation in Ontario? Come camp on the beach dunes at Long Point. This is a quiet family type provincial park, not a lot of noisy parties, except maybe on Friday 13th (45 min from Port Dover). The weather here never fails to impress and always is different from the mainland. Being out in the middle of Lake Erie with little light sources around also makes for unbelievable star watching.
Beautiful beach...very long.....nice water walking....you can go far by walking in the water..... parking is hard to find if you don't go early specially in the summer weekend s.....nice place for family day trip and camping as well......liked the place very much..
It was a great park, stayed there for the weekend. However, the flies are so darn vicious! My family and I went to the beach, we got out and werr covered with flies biting us. At least 50 were on me and more on my board. I hope this can be resolved.
Awesome beach, first time going and I'd definitely love to go again..
Too many bugs, no fish and shell on the beach. Brown and dirty tap water for drinking in the camp ground. What can I say for the good things? Outside the camp site, there's a ice cream store, 3 bucks for a huge ice cream cone. Kids love it.
This provincial park has a really nice beach area and a huge camping site. It will be great to spend a few days with your family here. If you just want to enjoy the beach, you can actually find road side parking outside the beach
One of the nicest beaches in Ontario. We camped here for 2 nights. Could get a bit too congested and less privacy in the electric site. The off grid one was amazing except for the a fee gazillion mosquitoes we had to chase. Was one of our best beach trips for 2021 especially for swimming.
Large beach with sections for dogs and no dogs, can always find a place to set up as long as your willing to walk a little. Wish there was a closer store to buy drinks or snacks though.
Sooo worth going to Long point. Even if just to visit for the day! Beautiful sand. They keep it super clean. You can walk for a long time out into Lake Erie...until you get to the no trespassing signs from "The Long point Company". Quote from Trip advisor "Long Point Provincial Park also has a nude beach that is off of the park property. It is past the parking #11. Then walk toward the downed trees across beach towards "Long Point Companies Property" for about 1km, Long Point Company lets people use about 400 meters before their "other boundary line' That is marked clearly with "No Entry, Private, No trespassing signs. But 400 meters prior to that you may use it...You may have to go in knee deep water to go around fallen trees, but not bad"
Amazing park! The bathrooms and showers are the cleanest I have ever seen at a provincial park. The walk to the beach is minutes and the sites are a good size.
Absolutely beautiful. Best place we camped all summer. I booked the cottonwood campground not realizing that it was not part of the provincial park property. Either way it was still amazing. Bathrooms were clean, my kids loved the park and the beach was perfect, soft sand and shallow water.
This is such a beautiful Provincial Park, gorgeous scenery, awesome playground for the kids, great fishing and Boating area, beach is sandy and huge. One of my favorite Provincial Parks to camp at so far ????
One of the best beaches in Ontario. The water, the sand - amazing. It can get crowded on weekends, and I really wish there were more washrooms available. Washroom cleanliness is very poor as well, those facilities need to be upgraded.
I loved everything there but they should really put up signs where poison ivy is because We accidentally put our second tent on top of it. The water is probably my favourite part but the more deeper you go the more shallow it is. At night you could see the stars so perfectly but there’s a lot of bugs and different animals there if you decide on going here depending on how much days your staying bring bug spray because there’s a lot of bugs but not a lot of Caterpillar‘s. And there shop at the front is kind of a rip off and good Quality stuff at the same time in the front they have free bubbles but not the loop thing so you can blow them you have to get a peace of grass or something. And the showers are open but they sometimes do stink and have lots of sand/dirt.
Absolutely beautifup! Love it here! A must visit!
It truly is a really nice provincial park, the 4th oldest in ontario. Nice campsites, clean facilities and great sandy beaches and shoreline. We were here the last week of Augustandthe deer flies were nearly unbearable- the wodst I've seen in years, but obviouslythats not the parks fault. I just wish they cared less about covid masks and distancing and more about maintaining the beach access walkways. You are way more likely to twist an ankle or fall and get hurt using these pathways than ever catching covid outside. I am actually pretty surprised as usually government entities have no problem spending money to avoid liability and risk. Overall, great park.
First time camping here with my husband and three young children. We stayed in the Cottonwood area close to the water. It got quite windy so be prepared and invest in good tent pegs/tarps. The site itself was wonderful. Lots of sandy dunes for the kids to climb and explore. Comfort station is nearby and has four showers and a set of bathrooms. Very clean. The staff was there at least once a day. We didn't have any issues mosquitoes but the wasps were around. We will definitely be coming back again.
I found one stone on this beach. The rest was sand. A very long, mostly quite wide beach with a fairly gentle entry and sandbars. The water in late July was warm - especially for a Great Lake. But there were flies - flies that bite. Off did not repel these insects. Otherwise a darn nice beach.
Had so much fun. Camping sites are close to the beautiful sandy beach. Toilets are being cleaned twice a day. Tap water are everywhere. Since its Covid19 pandemic the showers are not available. But bring buckets that you can use for showering. A lot of foldable buckets from dollar store. You can use hammocks on the trees so the kids can have more fun. Just make sure ofcourse to clean all out after camping. Good for morning and evening walk nearby the beach.
Nice provincial park Book parking online at Ontario park Did not see Tesla electric chargers
Love the beach! This is my favorite beach in Ontario! About 2hrs away from Mississauga. The beach sand gets really nice and hot to the point it's burning your feet, but it feels great! The beach and has a purple hint to it which looks …
We just recently discovered Long Point and we're completely blown away! Incredible Sandy beach front, ocean-like waves, warm water, great place for the kids and family to enjoy and explore!
Totally different kind of a beach. Soft Sand and clear water, what else you want. Silky and smooth sand, not rocky at all. A good place to visit.
Visited after it was recommended. I had high expectations for the beach, but it was just. OK. Arrived in the late afternoon on a Sunday and it was packed with people. Very little space along the beach if you arrive later in the day. The sand dunes are high in some areas but there are designed walking paths. The sand is fine and is brown/dark red in some areas. The water was relatively clear. If you plan to visit go really early to secure a good spot along the beach. Also pack your own food and water. Not very many places around to purchase unless you are driving on the main street.
Great camping park. Even the furthest camp sites are still very close to the beach and quite close to the bathrooms and showers. Everything was quite clean. Beach is the main attraction - with a long stretch. The shore is very sandy with lots of clay and the water was quite sandy as well. Park store has good hours 8am-10pm with lots of ice and firewood, ice cream and souvenirs.
This park is beautiful! I can't speak to the utilities or the booking process, as we just visited family camping here for the day. The bathrooms were clean and many sites are very large, some right next to the beach. We saw lots of wildlife during our stay, and there are lots of nice routes nearby for bike riding with excellent bike lanes. The paved roads within the park could use some TLC, lots of potholes and uneven surfaces which are probably most notable when bike riding. Nice, attentive staff. Beautiful dog beach as well, and I would definitely swim here. Can't wait to come back!
Always a nice park when the weather is sunny and warm.
Despite it being a weekend everyone was able to space themselves out. It was a lovely time, made all the more enjoyable by seeing others having a good time. The facilities are clean, and though we've not camped there in two years the sites look well-maintained. Excited to come back camping soon!
An awesome spot to enjoy a nice long beach walk, though I was lucky to go on a day no one else was really here
This place was nice but I wouldn’t recommend it. The beach and water was pretty clean. It was very hard to get up the beach because the sand was hot and there was a mountain. After we noticed that there was a pathway to the beach which there was only one of, it was far away from where our tent was. There was no picnic area in the park and I will not recommend this place.
First time going there and I can definitely say that this beach is way better than Grand Bend or Sauble beach. Huge shoreline where the public can relax.
Amazing Beach with waves like ocean, water was warm in September and flat bed where one can just lie for hours, dog friendly and scenic. What else one needs ? And yes just close to 2.5 hrs from Toronto. Phew...
Absolutely the nicest park from those I've visited so far, and my favorite one hands down. Amazingly located with beautiful beach and crystal clear warm water. Its a must to mention super friendly stuff too! Dog beach is only the huge plus.
Long Sandy Beach on the Warm Waters of Lake Erie. Separate BBQ stations in the Park. Tip: Hit the gates latest by 11:00 am to avoid possible closures.
Beautiful! Sucked that there was no cell service way out there but it was still a lovely beach none the less! And they had a side for the dogs too which was great! My pup absolutely loved his big swim there last summer!
One of the most interesting beaches. Unusual water colour of coffee and milk. Nice waves create a feeling of the ocean. When you park, the beach is not visible, so you have to walk over the sandy dunes. Picnic tables and facilities open. 15$ per car for parking. Will visit again
I love visiting Long Point. I personally think the best time to enjoy this park is in the spring. Life is budding everywhere, the park is quiet, serene, the beaches seem to go on forever with barely a soul in sight. It is also incredibly beautiful in the fall. Of course if your looking for a summer beach, Long Point has that too. See you this spring Long Point.
The water is dirty with black sand. Comparing to other beaches such as Sandbank or Tobermory, the quality of the beach is low. It is so extremely crowded that it’s difficult to find the parking lot. I would never come back here again as it doesn’t worth for a long trip.
Water and beach is amazing recommend this for anyone who wants to give themselves a little local vacation
Clean beach , little bit more crowded on long weekend holidays . Love it . If you travelling from distance give your self extra time on single lane road with extra cup of coffee.
This photo was taken on Hastings Drive and this review is for Long Point as a whole. Beautiful area and natural area. Lots of birds and wildlife in the area, great fishing opportunities, tons of activities on the water to do, a handful of local shops and eateries and beautiful sunrise/sunsets and night sky!
Great beach to enjoy with the family and get into water on hot summer days! Nice comfort stations! Power outlet and a water tap available out side the comfort station.
A really nice, but very windy park. We did wish that they would have enforced the noise ordinance they have posted around the campground as an RV decided to play country music very loud into the night. Still, the scenery is breathtaking and the staff are friendly.
Loved it! Long sandy beach with clear water.
A great hidden gem in Southern Ontario! The cost per vehicle to enter the park is $15 and there is a washroom with plumbing. The beach is clean, the water is clean - can't ask for much more ????
Love this view...so beautiful here.. The birds ..water ????...so beautiful
Beautiful beach, water was nice n warm and clean beach. Sat and watched the wind surfers.
A glamping experience that is sure to be rewarding for the whole family. Ample sites spaced far apart. Tennants are generally courteous with most noisy sites completely quiet by 11:00. Convenience stations are well situated, clean, and well provisioned with laundry, shower, and bathroom stations. Large central playground, very popular with the young campers. Very nice long sandy beach, not too crowded. I was surprised by the ample wildlife. Generally more than I have seen in other parks. Somewhat pleasing natural surrounding, but the wide flat marshland may be uninteresting for the hardcore outdoor type. Park staff are somewhat overzealous but I suppose it is well worth the payback for a clean orderly well maintained park experience. Overall a great experience for the trailer going family. Perfect for outdoor multifamily tent / trailer events, with many children. Hikers and portage enthusiasts, might want to look further north.
You best be loving sand if you go camping .....
Great beach, especially if it's not too busy!
I came camping with my adult sibling and 64 year old mother. As per Ontario Provincial Parks mission, camping is an opportunity to respect, connect with and enjoy nature. We feel that Long Point did not reflect this mission. First of all, our campsite was right beside the highway. There should be no campsites there at all. It was extremely noisy. This was not reflected on the map online when I booked the site. Second of all, our neighbouring campers were loud and disrespectful. One family was blasting music on the beach for 2 days straight and got into confrontations with others (not myself) who asked them to turn off the music. I called Long Point and asked for rangers to come by and enforce the no radio/music policy. We were on the beach all day and no one came by. At night, our neighbouring campers were partying and talking loudly/yelling/shrieking/swearing until 1am. My 64 year old mother didn't sleep all night. It was a very uncomfortable experience. I called Long Point and no one was available. At 12:30am, I got into my car and drove to the main office but there was no one there. There was no sign indicating which number to call the warden. It was completely unacceptable. I've never been to a campsite with such a blatant and wide-spread disrespect for Ontario Parks rules, and such a careless and negligent lack of enforcement of said rules. I will not be returning to Long Point and will tell everyone I know not to go there unless they're looking for a party scene. I wish I could get my money back from this awful experience.
I just love the beach here. You feel like you've gone away for a little while! The turtles are amazing too. We have seen turtles laying eggs twice and baby turtles making their way to the lake twice. Amazing.
Went there last weekend and water was at perfect temperature. Spent almost 3 hours and felt amazing. Long shore lines and clean beach. Lots of parking in provincial park and has washroom facilities.
Save your money if you are thinking of going now. It’s SERIOUS BITING FLY SEASON. We didn’t even last 45 minutes and they wouldn’t offer a refund. Yes it’s $20 but come on if we stayed for hours 100% but not even an hour by the time you unload your car, go to the beach, set up and reload you are at the 45 minute mark. I emailed customer service and got a condescending email saying they only refund for death in the family and not flies as if I was being dramatic. Well here you go be worn that you should not book for biting fly season it was 1000s of flies covering you and biting. Not even manageable in the slightest but then again they would have no income coming in since no one would book if they actually were upfront and told visitors this in advance.
It was my first time to use here and I had a good experience. Facilities are clean and the beautiful beach was steps away from the camping site! Definitely would like to come back next year again!
This place is a gem, the camping spots are smaller than usual but the beach is the greatest substitute for that, the camp site still fits our two tents, a car and a canopy cover which is fine. Sometimes they have windy days and that makes …
Great beach. Water was chilly but once in, it was so nice. We all had a great time!!! Not to busy for a Friday afternoon either. Will definitely be returning!!
Best beach..really clean and the water is not too deep so good for the kids. It also has black sand so it looks really nice. Lots of space for having a picnic. The washrooms are OK, as clean as they can get on a beach. Theres a parking fee but definitely worth the $18.50 for the day.
Highly recommend Long point! The beach is great. The water is relatively warm at least when you compare to lake Huron. No stones in water or on beach. There is a dog section to the west side of the beach. Lots of room at this beach.
It was fun, the beach is the main attraction. The first day we were there there were hundreds of flies biting our ankles. Day two was good though.
Beautiful Beach and landscape. Water is also fairly warm for lake. Sand dunes were fun as well.
This place is a gem, the camping spots are smaller than usual but the beach is the greatest substitute for that. Sand is gorgeous, it has three tones, light, dark, and red. the beach is 41km long. if you like, take water and walk along the beach, you can go to the very far point or you can Canon/Kayak to there.
Ousted from the city for the weekend, I enjoyed my serenity here. Waves were so beautiful roaring. Dissolved in the sunset.
Love this spot for camping. Beautiful and great spot for a family get away. Always clean. Ive been coming here for over 15 years.
Stayed in the old/overflow park, where I have camped my whole life. Lots of sites with hyrdo now, the description of ground coverage on the sites however is not updated. We were able to switch sites to something that better suited our group with no issues. All check in and payment, firewood, ice and gift shop are at the main park location. The washrooms and showers were VERY clean and everyone seemed to follow social distancing and mask guidelines. The whole park was well patrolled and clean all around. Always a great stay at Long Point Provincial Park
The beach was very crowded when we went on a Saturday Evening. Not as clean as the other beaches we have seen in Ontario. Also the depth of the shoreline in not much, so lesser place to accommodate people.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Can't say enough about them. Rained on my last day and huge puddles all over. Not too much you can do about this. Nice to have two water fill stations.
I have SO MANY memories of Long Point. We went dozens of time when I was growing up. The playground, the fishing, the beaches …hands down one of my favourite provincial parks in Southern Ontario. I used to love camping on the sites on the sand, down near the dunes and the beach. Would definitely recommend.
Honestly our favourite beach yet! Definitely worth the 45min drive for us. Never as crowded as Port Dover, Turkey Point or Wasaga. Walk out forever and never gets passed our chest. Kids heads are always above water . Well kept beach and monitored. Great picnic areas and plenty of parking!
My family's favourite beach on all of Lake Erie. Normally very busy but lots of parking. Sandy beach, great swimming however accessibility for anyone with a walker or wheelchair would not be good.
Not what I remember. I visited Long Point in 2017 and it was fantastic: immaculate and clean beach, turquoise waters. I visited 2 weeks ago and the beach was dirty and the waters were a deep brown with mud and sand. It's like the beach fell into disrepair during the pandemic. Perhaps as we emerge from the pandemic, the situation will improve, but for now there are much nicer options within a 2 hour drive from the GTA.
Clean sand and water. Lots of room for social distancing. Free parking during the week and not busy! Great beach to attend for a fun day. Bathrooms are not the best, but it's like everywhere else. Will continue to go to this beach.
Long Point Provincial Park beach is worth the extra drive from Niagara, and the cost of parking for the day. The beach was clean, the water was warm and not rocky. There are no life guards on the beach, however, we did see park rangers patrolling the area warning beach goers of no drinking alcohol. There are BBQ areas as well. If you plan to visit, ensure you pack your food, the closest food vender is far.
Beautiful beach ! It was very clean and well maintained. Some poison ivy along the path to the beach.
I really enjoyed my stay We were quite concerned because so many mentioned the tick presence... there are also tons of signs everywhere. We decided to be very attentive, avoided all grass and greens. Maybe we were excessive, but then we did not get bitten at all. The beach is very nice. The sites are very unequal in terms of quality. Some lack total privacy. But you know it when you reserve it... The toilets are very horrible under the hot sunn you would rather die than use them... but that’s expected. The comfort station is well maintained. It’s only a few bad campers that make it sometimes so so. Don’t wash your dishes in the bathroom people! Neither at the water faucet!!!! There are tons of birds and bunnies. It’s overall very quiet.
Booked our day parking passes online. Fun day, staff was very helpful. Beach was clean and not crowded at all (on a Saturday in early Sept). We brought our husky and set up in the 'dog beach' area and had a great day.
I love how the beach is Soo clean and how the water is shallow. It gives me a safe feeling since I do not know how to swim. It's a great beach for family and friends and ecpecially young children.
Depending on what type of camping you like, there are a variety of sites available. Sites in Firefly campground are quite open, with little privacy. Sandy beach goes on for miles...
It is a beautiful beach.. only obstacles are to mount a little on a hill in order to reach beach.. there are spots where mats are placed (in front of wash room in P4) to take you stuff at beach.. and i dont know why it took 20 minutes yo get in to the park at entrance. Above all beach is fantastic
Turtle dunes campsite. We were there on the weekdays and place was not crowded. We were at #318 campsite (non electric). Privacy was good and lake was just behind the campsite. Water facility, washroom and shower was nearby.
Enjoyed Turtle Dunes campground section. Most sites are a good size, some offer more privacy than others. Good access to a great beach.
Lovely beach with great atmosphere! The sand is always warm and so the water is always a perfect temperature. Also it is never too crowded! Oh and you can barbecue with charcoal right on the beach! My favourite beach!
The beach is a little way from the parking lot. In the afternoon we suffered an attack of biting flies and they took us running from the beach and there is no internet coverage
Long Point is a hidden gem, the best beach in Ontario! Warm water and sandy beaches stretch the south coast and beautiful wetlands are present on the inland side, accessible by boat or canoe for birdwatching and fishing. Our favorite summer destination for sure! Just watch out for ticks and poison ivy, avoid areas with long grass.
Windy, but good..scared the hell out of me with the midnight kinda stormy weather. During the day it was 22 km/h wind and 44 km/h wind gusts..it was scary to feel the wind grew stronger while in the tent. It poured at night for about 15 minutes, and the lake was so noisy, I was worried it would welcome itself into our tent ???????????? The camp itself may be cool. We were in the old part, Cottonwood. The sites are packed really close to the road and there is minimum privacy, but our site was pretty separated from the others . That was good. Lake Erie was warm, but the color and the waves ???? Well, it was not the best camping ever, but it was the first booking for me, and we booked it three days prior ,so no complaints from me. I enjoyed it, anyway. :)
Nice place to go with your family & friends for a day trip or 4/5 hours as well. Even tough it was crowded, beach area was clean, dogs are not allowed. Parking, washrooms are available.
Beautiful location. If someone dropped you off blind folded, and said you were in Florida, it would be easy to believe them. Nice beach, clean water, people are friendly and respectful or space. Good facilities, parking and the park workers are friendly and helpful.
The beach and the park area is beautiful as Cuba beaches !very recommended for camping to my Canadian and Cuban friend Amazing ! Good for Kayaking Board. I am in love with the area .
Pointless if you aren't camping or staying for the beach. No hiking trails. Any of the natural area that would make the destination worth seeing are only for hunters and restricted to the public. Constant sound of shotgun blasts. Don't bother spending the $18 entrance fee.
Kids has so much fun at the beach and we enjoyed the BBQ!
The water is beautiful but the beach is not impressive atleast for me. It's a very narrow beach and the sand is black and red in color. We went on Civic Holiday and the beach was packed. If people did not have pre registration they were turned back. There are lots of bugs which were biting us. Did not like this experience so will not be going back.
Beautiful beach and soft sand. Unfortunately we left within 30 minutes due to the biting flies. They bit us nonstop and changing locations did not help. Packed up and went to Turkey Point!
Long point has a nice Long Beach, easy to get your own spot away from other people. Beach water temperature is warm. It’s all sands. No rocks .Perfect for smaller kids and dogs. Campsites are great especially the ones close to the beach. Some has good privacy. The only thing is they don’t really have trails in long point. We went walking by the beach instead which was awesome. Long point is not really ideal for biking because of the sands, it’s everywhere. But I still saw some kids biking by the road. Long Point is perfect ifor families with dogs like we do. We will comeback again for sure!!!
The beach was amazing!!! A massive variety of birds migrate here. The site was not the best as we were in a field pretty much with no privacy at all and the fire pit was horrible placed...but we were at site no.5... There were really nice sites this had to offer, but they were obviously booked Would definitely go back...but I won't disclose the sites I found most desirable????
I loved this beautiful place! There is plenty of beach for everyone..I loved the water here and the Provincial Park. We did not stay the night but we sure wanted to.. I will definitely be back!!
Be aware of the black flies, they bite like hell. We couldn’t stand for 10 min after we got out of the water. We had to leave so early after driving for 2 hr. Not recommended until they find away to get rid of these flies. They are really a-lot. It was the worst experience ever :( Also the beach access walkway is horrible it’s so hard to pull a wagon from you car to the beach!!
