REVIEWS OF Butze Rapid Trail IN Prince Rupert

Krystal Boulet

This is a jog/run trail. Perfectly maintained so that you don't have to be focused solely on your footing. Just under 5K. Perfect amount of inclines for a decent run.

Praneeth Konduri

Easy hike of around 5kms. Very easily accessible from the town. Well maintained

Luke Robson

Nice relaxed walk that gets you right down to the water's edge. Definitely worth checking the tides ahead of time to max the epic-ness of the rapids.. I went at low tide and they were pretty chilled. Keep in mind this walk is one that I saw a lot of people doing as their 'daily loop' so it's not a tough slog by any stretch. What gave it 5 stars was all the info boards talking about the history and different tree/plant species.. Good place to test your tree knowledge!

Norbert Wangsa-Wirawan

Easy and well maintained loop trail.

Will

magical - get away from the smoke and noise !

Sean Kelly

This was great. I loved the walk, the trail was in great shape.

Jeff

Nice walk but watch out for idiots who don't have their dogs on leashes. The trail is good for strollers. The entire loop trail is about 5 and a half kms.

I absolutely love this trail - amazingly well-maintained, has such a variety of plants and little animals, multiple different biomes (rainforest, deserty and a beach!) while remaining fairly easy. 10/10 will definitely be back at some point in time (unless I die, haha)

(Translated) A fairy-tale forest with old, large and strangely grown trees, a damp, boggy plateau with crippled pine trees, where we spotted a wolf! and the lower area in the bay with sand and gravel banks in the air bald eagles. Plant nature trail, about 5.5 km long, plan 2 hours because there is so much to look at. Well-developed paths and footbridges over the wet areas, directly from Hwy 16, signs there very poor. We almost missed it.

Likely the best easily accessed walk in Rupert. Be sure to make time to stop and enjoy everything as it comes, as each view point is just as beautiful as the last.

So worth doing, wonderful trail with some fabulous views, a little up and down but not extreme.

Relative to Tall Tree Trail, Butze Rapid Trail was well kept and easy-going. For the most part, the slopes were gentle and I didn't come across any significantly muddy areas. The walk through the trail was littered with bite-sized scenic stops, taking my girlfriend and I approximately 2.5 - 3 hours (including a picnic, and stopping every few minutes to take pictures) to complete. Unlike Tall Tree Trail (where the hike sometimes got grueling and offered comparatively little to see until the end), Butze didn't have much of a singular breath-taking 'wow' moment to offer, and getting through it offered little in terms of feeling a sense of 'accomplishment'. If you want a relaxing 'walk' type of a hike where you can stop every now and then to admire neat formations/views, this trail is perfect for that pace (especially if someone very young or not at peak health is involved). If you're looking for a more rigorous challenge and an epic view at the top, Tall Tree Trail would be a better match, and it's practically right across the street (*I wrote a review coupled with images for that one too, so feel free to check it out for comparison). NOTE: I did not encounter any wild animals throughout either hike.

I jave seen a lot of western Canada, i work on the road and have been to almost every coner of saskachewan, Alberta, and BC and i have to say this has to be on if the most memerable, you take a walk through the forest on a public trail it circles around to an ocean bay and back again, old growth cider and yew trees firns and moss cover the area, the tpograpgy reminds me of something you'd think of jarasic park with dinosaures and the like, (when its not raining) i must say at least for me id go see it again, loved it

Naz A

What an incredibly beautiful hike! Possibly the most beautiful hike I've been on. I think it took us over 2 hrs to complete. I also stopped evey 2 seconds to take pics. This trail is just breathtaking. Bring good shoes, water and possibly a hiking stick and there are some steep inclines and grades. Also bring rain gear - you're in Prince Rupert after all....

Glenn Hampton (Tom)

A nice peaceful walk

Stacy S

Fantastic trail, very well maintained 5 km trail. Beautiful! Suggest taking an animal deterrent with you as wolves do frequent the area but don't let that stop you! Absolute must see!

Isaiah Escobar

Nice clean trail. 5.6km hike with some slightly steep area but relaxing and easy. Took about 2 hrs to hike it all

David L.

Great moderate hike near Rupert. You can do it all year round.

Very Nice

Quite nice, beautiful trail. Confused by multiple reviews I saw that said it was flat... There's actually a fair bit of up and down inclines, not hard hiking or anything but far from "flat". Wouldn't have brought our older dogs if we knew "flat" meant lots of up and down hills...
