Man it is hard to park here, decent Beach
Not all was well marked or accessible.
Gem of PEC.
Very nice beach... worth visiting
Wonderful and peaceful place where you can relax with much pleasure
Nice place good for swimming
The closest experience of being on a beach in the Caribbean in a lake in Canada
The sand is soft and clear, the water is clear, a lot of space, especially on dunes . Very limited entrance during Covid time - the beach is closed by or even before 10 am
This place is magical.. have no doubt about it.. you should visit!!
Nice spot to swim and hike
One of my favorite places to camp, SUP and Kayak
Perfect place for family outing , try to reach as early as 10 am for a guaranteed spot on the beach . Don't carry alcohol since it's prohibited, enforcement personnel issues a ticket . Washrooms are clean but be ready to wait for a bit on weekends, it gets busier quickly. Purchase day pass early from Ontario provincial Park website and check in online , try to book well in advance to secure the spot and for easy access.
This beach is pretty unique. Great spots for picnics and other recreation sports. Love the Dunes. That's the true highlight of the area.
It's good but I prefer the outlet beach.
Just remember you need to book. I drove all the way there and there were no slots available
Clean, relaxing and overall wonderful beach
Awesome beach for the little ones. The water is clear and shallow so it warms up nicely in the summer. The sand dunes are a great place for kids to run around and have fun as well. Gets pretty full around lunch time so make sure you get there a bit early.
I liked this place because the water is warmer than Ontario lake.
Beautiful sand dunes but trails are currently underwater.
My family and I love to come to this beach. It is always quieter and more interesting than the sandbanks beach. We can climb the dunes, walk along the shallow water, and ride our boat all along this beautiful lake. There are areas with free parking, access to washrooms close to the water, a park for children to play at, and a canteen open during the day for when you get hungry. Lots of shade because of the dunes and lots of fun for everyone! I highly recommend this beach.
Good work out going through the sand dunes, fun to roll, fall and run down into the water. Sand is pretty clean, and spacious to play frisbee or toss the old football. There is a canteen that serves street meat and soft drinks. Parking lot had alot of space but the later you arrive the father you will have to park. Good for family, or friends.
Nice and not-too-cold shallow waters in the middle of June was really enjoyable. Lists of families with kids having a blast swimming and playing in the wet sand.
Nothing great, save time and money and go somewhere else.
A little too far for my liking, there are similar beaches near the gta
The Dunes Beach is a great spot to spend a day. The dunes are fun for the kids to explore and makes for something different than all the other beaches you've been to. In the water the sandy bottom has a perfect slope to it so that there is plenty of shallow area for children but the adults don't need to walk 50m out to get in. Would recommend.
Beautiful sandy beaches. Get there early in the summer.
Great beach, lots of space to spread out down the beach. Clean of garbage, but the patrols can sometimes be out to give tickets to anyone and everyone, even if they are far out of the way of bothering anyone.
The beach area is large and accommodating.
Stunning views, calm and warm Beach. Very busy on weekends
Used to be a hidden gem, with the county becoming more and more popular with big city tourists this beach is now super crowded by 10am. Still fun, but get there early and be aggressive about getting a table. Has the best kiddie swim area at sandbanks. about 3feet deep for a long way out, kids can swim a lot and gain confidence in open water. Note there are NO lifeguard here anymore. Cafe stand serves beach food, has decent washrooms too.
Kids loved it and the water was warm enough for an 11 month old.
nice shade behind the beach. good setup for small children. Small beach.
What a great beach. Awsome just loved it. Must visit place. About 2.5 hrs from Toronto but worth a drive. Something diffrent from regular beaches.
Windy and foamy shore but amazing dunes and really crazy dropoff not far from shore.
A good place to camp and swim.
Nice beach, water is decent, sand is good. parking is limited so get there early.
So amazing! Feels like you're not even in Canada
crystal clear water and white sand, I felt like I was at a tropical destination!
I went here with my girlfriend and we absolutely loved it. Even for the day place this beach was very much worth it. It has trails that you can walk around and enjoy. And the dunes make the beach feel so much more unique. The view that you also get while swimming and enjoying is also just amazing. It was also not over crowded and we were able to enjoy a very relaxing weekend of swimming and sun bathing.
Warm, calm, and shallow waters for the young kids to play in. This beach faces away from Lake Ontario so there aren't any waves. Lots of sand dunes and Dunes Trail you can explore if you can tear yourself away from the water.
King Kai had a blast
Hiking up the sand dunes make this place very unique & special!
Beautiful large sand dunes. The sand is clean and soft. Many kids roll down the slope of the dunes for a fun ride. At the bottom of dunes is the beach⛱️. There is a snack shop at the corner of the beach.
Great beach. Lots of sand and beautiful surroundings if you don't mind hiking through sand on a hot day. There were no showers, the concessions stand were closed. The washroom seemed somewhat tidy. I expected more because of everything I heard about this place.
A unique beach in southern Ontario. Very fine sand dunes...hills.. amazing place
Great place to relax and have a quality family time.
A unique place in Canada of sand and warm water. Dunes is a good family place with kids games, a snackbar, toilets and easy parking. It is a is place to start a kayak run as well.
One of the best places in the area once the Fall season closes. The colors and trails remain vibrant. The landscape is very unique and offers a great time for photography. The photos attached are during sunrise in early November. The trail system offers a lot of scenery, but is very easy. If you are looking for something more challenge I would just run up and down the larger dunes in West Lake.
A very unique part of Ontario. You won't find this anywhere else!
Great spot. Currently seeing some flooding so the beach is under water and up to the base of the sand dunes. Excellent.
It's almost like a tropical beach in Canada. I absolutely recommend!
Great family beach lots to explore
Gross washrooms, no showers close by there are many other places in Ontario to experience after that long haul drive from Toronto.
Dunes Beach was great. the beach is good but we went there to explore the sand dunes which were very plentiful and interesting, for the adventurous. very fine clean white sand. we got there just after 10am and the parking lot wasn't full yet, but it got full pretty quickly after. it's better to go further west up on the beach dunes, a lot less people and lots of space with a beautiful view down West Lake. will go back to see sunset next time.
Very nice sand and clean water. Parking fee $21 for the day is exuberant. Giving 3 stars, because had to take 1star away for the parking and 1 star away for the small size. But it is well worth every other one of the other 3, because it is very clean, very nice sand, and clean water.
We visited outlet beach, and it was pretty nice. Unfortunately the trail to visit the dunes was closed so we couldn’t see the most impressive dunes.
Been here twice so far and will definitely be back! There is a lot of shoreline so you can keep your distance from folks, a canteen for snacks and the washrooms are fine. Mosquitos galore though, hiding near the building.
Always a great hike! Every time I hike be it 2x / week the shoreline changes and something new. The dunes add a nice little challenge to start your hike.
Nice for kayaking
Cafe and staff were very kind and helpful.
I've been coming here since I was a kid, so there might be some nostalgia influencing my love if the place, but I have a great time every time.
Very kid friendly, if you don't have kids go to sandbanks beach, it's better
As provincial parks go this is one of them.
Amazing beach. Would highly recommend. Wish it was free though.
Beautiful sand dunes! Water was shallow and then deep drop off. Great for kids to splash around in if you are with them in the water.
We found this beach easy to find and with ample parking. There's no shortage of perfect places to set up on the beach. It's huge. Make sure to budget time to explore the dunes.
SO good ????
Lovely beach with a great view. The washrooms were closed due to covid I guess and hence one star less.
Been coming here since I was a kid. Awesome place for the whole family. Lots of walking along the beach and up the hills of sand. Even more fun on the way down! A nice playground for the kids. Gorgeous scenic views of the outlet river. Swimming is fun but be aware of the sudden drop off. Dangerous for inexperienced swimmers/children. Large parking lot. Public flush washrooms. Small food/snack bar opening early June. Picnic shelters with picnic tables.
The beach and water seemed grungier than in the past. The sandbanks and the sunset were gorgeous.
It was a really beautiful day when we went not alot of people...and it was a free day!!! We enjoyed the beach almost to ourselves!!!
There is multiple hike branch to fulfill ur hike needs and it changes up beautifully.
Beautiful talc like sand and dunes, short walk from parking warm and calm water
Sand dunes are amazing to see and climb. Beach had a lot of algae and a steep drop off in the lake. Children (and adults) should be supervised closely so they don't get swept away
Dounes but the wather id coldest than. Anotheres
Great day!!
Unique Canadian destination. Great for kids. Easy parking. Cheap admission.
Gorgeous day here... you could almost think you were in the Carribean!
Waters slightly warmer and gentler than the lake facing beaches, but areas smaller as well
The water was still, dirty and fishy. Not worth $17 to get in. The sand is muddy and almost black and lots of weeds. Gross.
For me who used to go to Sandsbank outlet beach, it was a surprise because it was small and not that much clean.
Awsome beaches
Have always wanted to go to Sandbanks and was not disappointed! Easy entry to this day use area and great options for beach, picnic, or walking trails. Walking the dunes was gorgeous and the dunes trail itself was interesting and well marked. The beach was beautiful with a good swimming area and plenty of space. Worth the visit be it spring, summer, or fall.
Definitely damaged by flooding. Not as nice as summer 2016
Great beach for young kids.
Nice & small beach area with sand dunes by the water. Its a must visit place if you are looking for some different experience than the normal beach.
I loved the beach! I was very happy with the beach and I recommend everyone to go there. As soon as I have the opportunity I will return without hesitation!
Washroom was disgusting, but the sand was nice
Nice beach if you are somewhat not too far of a drive away or vacationing in the Prince Edward County. I wouldn't however drive 2-3+ hours for it.
We loved the place we stayed there recently for 4 days, kids enjoyed the beach, clean and not so crowded. A place and a parc to discover
Fantastic beach and a must visit. Not too crowded in the pandemic settings and more than enough space to accommodate the 100s that come here. Worth a good 4-5 hours beach day! Food is available at the restaurant and the best part is that no alcohol or smoking allowed. Park authorities are quite active.
The dunes part gets flooded when tide is high or when it rains a lot Bring sandals/shorts! Beautiful beach area with a small good stall setup. Washrooms were also decent
Very nice sandy beach with a canteen, clean washrooms and a playground.
It was just ok for me . I didn't really like the place .
The drive was definitely worth the day out on these dunes. A massive stretch so you can find a place to call your own, but I would suggest arriving early as the parking lot fills up quickly. There are washrooms, a snack bar, picnic tables, a playground and plenty of places to grab a bite to eat in fairly close proximity.
Nice beach and hiking trail! The dunes are very unique to see in Ontario. The dunes trail is partially closed due to flooding right now but otherwise, a beautiful place to visit.
I think it was flooded when we went, so maybe this star rating is unfair, but for how subpar the beach was it was way too busy.
There is not much more to say, The photo says it all.
Great place. Clean beaches.
Beautiful, clean water and sand. Ptetty busy even on weekdays. Yes you can bbq if contained. Smaller size beach with limited grassy areas, need to be prepared to set up in sand. 4 stars because washroom was dirty, it seemed to be serviced the earlier part of the day but as it got later it remained dirty.
The dunes are fun and nice, great place for kids to play around. The round trip is less recommended..
Great facilities, interesting landscapes and lots of fun to be had
Amazing beach! Dunes were nice, water was clean and parking is pretty close to the beach. To get to the dunes you do have to hike about 5-10 mins.
Awsome place to swim on a hot day
Amazing dunes. The water is kinda gross, but the dunes!!!!
Great beach (for Canada). Dunes beach tends to be less busy the Outlet beach. Water is calm.
Family oriented environment. For those who like to climb sand small dunes-- that is the place to be.
It’s a good place for a day out in the water. I like the mild beach slope which makes it perfect for playing in the water. In spite of the high entry fee of $21, the park authority have not provided much facilities for the beach users, like washrooms and showers at convenient places. For that reason, I could not give a high star rating.
Simply fantastic spot for a wonderful and beautiful day with my family. The high water level is noteworthy this week. Areas of the beach are as many as 15 meters (~50 ft} further back than I remember
This place is absolutely unreal. Better than outlet beach... Less people/more privacy. The dunes are SO COOL. Excellent biking and swimming and hiking. You can walk along the beach forever. The most amazing sunsets. Fine, white, powdery sand... Better than a down-south vacation spot!!!
Really fun place for a walk and view of lakes
Parking ticket machine did not work, it was wrapped up, so we were assessed a $30 parking din. Looked like every fourth car in the lot got a fine. Shameful ripoff.
Ok
Kids have a great time, lots of fun for Dads too
We went on a Sunday morning in the autumn. It wasn't very busy... Parking was $18 but I'd much rather pay a provincial park than a parking corp in Toronto. We had visited the county three times before making it out here and can't believe it took me so long. The dunes are gorgeous and a beautiful walk. It small kids loved running up and down and "exploring" the sand hills.
Excellent experience here with family and friends. I wish we came earlier and spent longer time.
This provincial park is an amazing site to see. The giant hills of sand make you think your on another world. The waters clean and warm, fairly shallow entry depending on water levels and where you set up. Parking is limited, long weekends fill up early. There's a food building with hamburgers fries chicken fingers and all kinds of snacks, prices are not outrages. A definite must see in Ontario.
Great place to visit with your family. Kids loved it. The park was very clean, water was warm and clean. Will come back again.
Beach is smaller than the Outlet one, but water is warmer! Kids playground is nearby with washroom.
If you come from a country where there are hills and valleys, or mountains, this is superb for climbing and outdoors. The sand dunes are kept immaculately. The water is warm. Clean facilities. Its superb.
Amazing
In winter serene quiet location with lots of path to walk. In summer rather busy but the beach is great for families as kids can slide down the dunes and the water is warm and one can walk quite a bit out before hitting depth.
Beautiful place. Excellent views. Extremely crowded and beaches are not the best. Overall it is nice to spend the day.
This place it's incredible ,I would not expect to find something like this on a lake.
Awesome
Amazing beach!
Beautiful sand dunes with the softest sand ever
Really busy and weedy this year for swimming
Beautiful sandy beach with cool, shallow waters. A bit crowded for my tastes, but a short walk can take you to more reasonable areas of the beach.
Awesome views and campgrounds very accessible and shops located near campground which makes it very convenient. And has areas to do canoeing which are not deep hence if perfect for a beginner. Just go there chill relax and have fun.
The beach is very small due to the high water levels but it's still a fantastic beach for swimming and hanging out. Kids and adults looked to be having a blast running down the sand dunes into the water. Canteen has some of the best french fries around and the washrooms are kept clean.
A nice beach with a good hike through the dunes. Some areas are relatively secluded.
nice beach, different than a flat featureless beach I'm used to seeing. photos dont do the beach justice.
Great place to have fun with friends and family. Washrooms are at its worst though :(
Not bad for Quebecers who see sand beaches for the 1st time; Wasaga and Sauble are a game changer. Notice the phenomena which created the banks of sands at this PEC Location is amazing
Nice sandy beach with warm water on the east end of Ontario to spend time with families and friends.
We went for the side where dunes are located for the victoria day long weekend. There is flooding till waist level for going towards the dunes. Although the sand is really great and it actually is a sand mountain for a beach, there is not much of beach side at ths dunes side.Would recommend a quick visit to the place and then head on to nearby outlet beach or other beach nearby
So much fun walking or running up/down the sand dunes. The water at Westlake Beach ⛱ is always warm and fun to walk in swim or play in. Beautiful scenery ????❤
Good place to stay for few hours,
A wonderful place to camp, spend time on beach.it was raining the day we went but yet it was wonderful.
The place feels like it shouldn’t exist as you will feel like you are in the desert. Definitely a interesting experience that offers great places for photographers.
A must visit beach. Don't ever come to Sandbanks without at least having a quick stop here. A unique place, very unique place. The top of the dunes are accessible only by foot but easy and short walk.
Really beautiful beach!
Awesome place to take kids. Warm water and less crowded than lake Ontario side
Amazing Dunes Beach at Sandbanks Provincial park with white sand beaches. We enjoyed the waves of the surrounding lakes. Water was clean and sand was so amazing , it felt like we are on vacation. Advantage of the beach was - NO rocks on the beach. Highly recommend for couples, groups and families.
Walking on the sand dunes was awesome. Make sure it's not very hot. Sand really gets hot. It not deep in the safe area . Water level is usually upto the knee. Good for children. Nice park when u can do bbq.
Amazing!! Something everyone should experience! Comments about parking are crazy, as you pay for a day pass to the sandbanks (Outlet and Dunes) Provincial Park not for parking.
Liked it. Great for kids
Small beach area, fun for the kids. Shallow wade walk to the dunes
Sandbanks Provincial Park is superb with a fine sand beach, lovely spacious camp sites and many activities nearby. Book five months in advance for popular weekends.
2 words - fun day, from thr multiple beaches to the little playground at the Dunes beach to the beautiful views. Friendly people all over and CLEAN BEACHES with beautiful water. Nothing like Wasaga or Sauble worth the drive for sure
Visited in the Summer (August) on a Monday morning. Signs instructed us to sign-in at the gates before parking. Figured out that if your reservation is printed and you have your printed parking permit posted in your window when parking you don't need to check-in at the gates. Lot was less than half full when we came in just past 8am, and didn't fill up past that when we departed around noon. Did the Dunes Nature Trail which took about 30 minutes. Trail sand was nice and soft, but would highly recommend light water shoes for some kind of light feet protection as there was some broken glass near one of the lookouts. Beach was very chill - nice tall sand dunes to lay your beach towels down. There's a quick steep dropoff in the water at this beach - which is clearly defined by buoys, unlike Outlet beach which has a very gradual drop-off. Washrooms were kept very clean. There was also a canteen store connected to the washroom area selling chicken fingers, burgers, hotdogs, sunscreen, cold drinks - opened sometime around noon. Beach sand was superfine and pleasant. There were a few biting flies at the base of the dunes where the trail boardwalk is, but wasn't really a problem outside of that area near the water. Was a really nice beach option for a half day.
Great beach. Lots of space to spread out. Not too busy.
Banks were sandy and the beach was nice and clean, no seaweed either. Campgrounds are big enough in most areas. Everything is walkable and not too far
Lovely sand dunes. Excellent place for kids and pets. You can spend a whole day here. There's a parking fee of 12.25. there are lots of places you can BBQ. There are many trails too n the water is really clean. It's one of the better places to swim as the water is bacteria free.
Good place to enjoy ....holidays and weekends!
We had fun. Nice place to picnic
Not a great place if you want to enjoy the water like in beaches as the water isn't clean and limited space. This place is ideal for kayaking, canoeing or paddle boating.
Almost empty this time of the year. There was enough space for everyone to park. Nice place to take a walk. The other places next to this were closed, unfortunately.
Beautiful and out standing.
Beautiful beach near dunes
Very nice place
Beautiful and unique landscape, you won't find anything similar in Ontario. The Dunes trail is okay, but if time is limited just stick to the big dunes.
Unique spot in Canada! We loved coming here end of afternoons when it is less crowded and to watch the sunset. Great walks in the dunes. Great swimming too. We prefer Dunes Beach over Outlet Beach because it is much quieter and less busy.
Nature at its best
Nice trails in and around the dunes with lots of trees and lakes, beach areas are steep hillsides.
Sandbanks is amazing.
Very nice beach
Beautiful beach, clean water, great sand dunes for the kids (and the adults), canteen and bathrooms, what more do you need for a sun-filled relaxing day?
Nice beach with amenities and a small parking Lot.
We enjoyed walking and swimming here.
Dunes are super fun, however beach is shortened by high water. Paths are flooded.
Amazing Place ????
Very good beach but have to book in advance. This is a new regulations after covid. So plz don't go there without one.
Loved it. That one is more for a family with very young children. There are no waves and the water is closer to the beach area. Dunes are not very practical to set an umbrella and chairs but that's what gives that beach its unique-ness.
Best beach in Canada! The sand is very fine and smooth and the water is not cold. There is a little place where you can buy food and a playground for children. It can get busy but otherwise amazing beach!
Always an amazing time here
Flooding of low lying areas, makes it difficult to reach the dunes.
Beaches are fantastic, but there was no limited capacity, per the alleged reservation system. Also waited 45 minutes to enter, only to be told we didn't have to register or wait in line, and watching people paying to enter, despite a reservation only system advertised on the site. Park was easily ABOVE a reasonable capacity, and way over a covid limited capacity limit. The bathrooms and outhouses were also disgusting, likely due to the excessive volume in the park. Beautiful park, with a fantastic dog area, but day was spoiled by lack of proper limits and no helpful signage around permits.
Amazing beach! This park is the place to be to spend the day with your family at the beach. The main one is incredibly long and the sand is baby powder fine. You can walk out for several meters before it starts to get deep. The second beach is even nicer. It's called "dunes beach" and the name clearly comes from the several sand dunes you can walk out to. This beach is not quite as large, however, it's a nicer spot for sure. The park itself does not seem so great for camping. It is very oddly spread out and the campsite groupings are very segregated. The lots are all rather small. Several sites offer very little by way of privacy. Most of them in fact are very wide open to your neighbours. A bike is a must if you camp here. Staff were all very friendly and the park is very clean. It's just the strange layout of the grounds and lack of privacy that are deterrents for camping. Of you just want to spend the day ont the water and take in an amazing beach, this is the place to be.
Great place to swim and enjoy the sunshine, but be safe in the water.
Awesome place. Bring your own snacks or patience.
The beach is shallow for a long stretch. Although I couldn't swim in that area, but was a nice place to spend time in water with my little one
Even though my dogs couldn't enter the beach it was still great to see the dunes, and the infrastructure they have close to the beach.
Such a beautiful natural phenomenon. Nice and warm sand when the water is cold.
Great scenes but the water does not look sanitary. Beware of sharp objects in the shallow water.
Nice beach drove from Toronto and will go again next summer.
Was an amazing place to relax and enjoy some time off work.
Water is so clear and warm and the sand dunes are so much fun for the kids
Crowded on weekends or holidays. A good place to sit and relax.
Lovely place
Very beautiful beach with . The dunes are amazing. You can take a nice hike on the dunes.
Very beautiful and quiet beach. Sand dunes are also beautiful!!!!
Gorgeous view and a nice beach. It is off-season, but there were tons of ppl walking around and kite and wind surfing.
A beach full of butterflies, magic views and trails. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Had a Amazing day out. Much needed exercise & quality fresh air ans nature sounds. Lots of zen!
Just perfect place to go with children!
Drop point for the deep ends are very early. Much sooner than the indicators. Please swim with caution. Great for boatong activities!
????
Beautiful place to sit or walk and enjoy the waves crashing on the beach.
Amazing beach and dunes. Good sight to see
Needs more facilities for visitors. Parking is expensive yet service is not that great.
Great spot to.relax, theres a watersports park nearby, public boat launch as well, great for.picnics!
Gorgeous
The beach area is shallow for some range and suddenly gets deeper. The beach sand is okay too. Personally, liked outlet beach more
Good place for young kids.
Good family day. $17 day pass seems a bit high
Had the place to ourselves practically!! It was beautiful and the water is warming up. Hiked the dunes and slid down the beach side.....fun for all!
Love it!
Quiet and clean beach. Good for one day outing.
Great beach, clear waters, hiking and bike trails
Great place for beach fun.parking so 1 min walking distance, publuc washrooms available. Sand beach
Great place to visit, the sand dunes are steep and plentiful. Great for exploring., trails are good. Water is a little shallow but overall a nice place to visit.
Beautiful, nice sand, fairly clean water. Had a great day playing with the kids. Highly recommend it.
Great place for some sand, sun and water! Not so much when there’s lake weed in the mix in such high quantities but still loads of fun!
If you are anywhere in Prince Edward County you have to make a trip to this beach you will amazed. My second time and will come back again. Have pay admission of $21 for the day.
Fantastic place to camp! So many different parks and beaches to go to, shown is a photo of the dunes which is just a short shaded walk from the parking lot or 15 minutes from the nearest camp site. There is a restaurant by the dunes serving all chip truck style menu along with Ice-cream etc. They allowed us to park our trailer after we checked out of our camp site to go for a swim. Very accommodating and friendly. 15 drive to the charming village great for foodies, along with metro to pick up anything you’ve forgotten about. Also very close to many other things to do in the area, wine tours, craft beer, wakeboard lessons the float park where they also offer pontoon rentals as well! Definitely one of the best camp sites because of the location.
This place has amazing sand banks and sand dunes a very realistic feel of an beach
Beautiful fine sand and huge dunes, warm water (near the shore) and not crowded.
This place is Ontario’s biggest secrets. It’s an incredible beach. There is the Sand Banks, The Sand Dunes and a couple more something like North Beach it West Beach. The sand is gorgeous, clean water unlike the GTA. You can camp here, go fishing, there are long biking things to do. It is also very reasonable not your typical beach ripoff destination. It’s incredible.
Great family beach. Lots of sand not rocky. Shallow water perfect for kids. Very busy on weekends.
Nice place with services open now
Only people on the beach...it was only 12 degrees...
Not very swimmable
I loved it. Water was cool and great.
Visited last week. The restrooms were all closed. Nice though.
Good area for picnic and swimming. Very busy on the weekend. You have to arrive early to get a good spot.
Gorgeous place. Super clean and easy to get. Good for family. Make sure to bring food and water, no stores nearby tho
The Dunes are are a great experience for both kids and adults. Trek to the dunes as this section of the beach is nicer than the more 'muddy' beach closer to where the washrooms are. The water at Dunes beach is generally calmer than the other beaches in the park as this beach is more sheltered from the winds on the lake by the surrounding land. Not a lot of parking that fills up quickly at popular times like hot weekends and holidays.
Beautiful sandy beach. Beware of the sun when you visit, as you might end up spending more time there than you planned and there's not a lot of shade to be found.
The Dunes Beach day use area is part of the Sandbanks complex off County Rd 12. The beach is situated on West Lake rather than Lake Ontario. There is a canteen here where food and drinks can be purchased. There is a flat sandy area near the canteen and some big sand dunes further off but still easy to walk to so you can have choice for your time here. The water is shallow and usually calm so it's a great place to bring small children. Also due to the depth the water tends to be warmer here...
What a great beach, would like to come back later in the summer once warmer!
The beach is wonderful, and the park is balanced well between parkings, bathroom, camping lots
The beach was a little smaller than expected but we found a nice area where it wasn't too busy so it was very nice! The water was clean enough that there were small fish near us when we were in the water. Pretty cool. And people were having fun running down the dunes and straight into the water. Overall a great place to go
Canada wide reputation. A great provincial park.
Unique landscape and clear beaches makes it more attractive. It is inside a well maintained and protected provincial park.
Very nice sandy beach. Beautiful vista that makes day tripping at the beach with kids a good day.
It's much much much bigger and larger spot than it looks like. And massive sand mountains
My boyfriend, our puppy and I spent the day at Sandbanks this past weekend and took the walking trails to Dunes Beach, given dogs aren't allowed on the actual beach. Of all the beaches, we saw Dunes Beach to be the most crowded and busy. There's a canteen, a play park and full service washrooms. There are a few sun shelters, with picnic benches and taps. Too bad pets aren't allowed, and it was very crowded, otherwise we would have stayed longer! Admission is approx $21 per car, for the day.
Just like the Caribbeans without the sharks and salt water... amazing place to swim and enjoy the sandy beaches in a hot summer day
Nice sand dunes and clear water. A snack bar on site
Best sand in Ontario, can be busy at times, and a wind off the lake.
The clean beach, warm water and sunny weather made for a prefect day!
Great place, great views
Clean water and it's all sand, the water is perfect for kids to play in. Parking is limited and you have to pay for parking.
Great beaches.
If you want to go, get there before 11am on the nice weekends. They closed the gates before noon the day we were there. Nice sandy area with access to the dunes trails. Beach is narrower and weedy part way out.
Amazing day! Beautiful sand, and lots of sun!
It's all right, nothing great. Don't waste your time if the line up is long to get in.
Water is not as clean as Lake ON, but sand is great
Amazing to see mother nature's work...only access to the dunes was by wading into Lake Ontario (where the beach normally is), water's a little cold but view from dunes was worth it!
I prefer this more secluded beach area for not feeling like a place you go to lose your kids.
Great beach, not too crowded
This is the best kept secret of the local beaches. By far the nicest and warmest as the beach is on West Lake.
Water is very high this year which makes it hard to get into the dunes; but still an awesome park.
Nice hiking trails. Cool sand dunes as well!
Nice Beach, No Lifeguards, Lots of Sand
Beautiful beach, dunes, and views. Clean Bathrooms and food are easily accessible
The water is very clear and does not stink. Except for the shells and some algae on the shore, the water is not dirty. However a lot of the dog designated areas are flooded.
Beautiful and clean
Awesome
I love the dunes. Great walking/hiking and swimming spot.
Amazing Beach Beautiful
Really neat to walk along the dunes and hang out on the soft sand!
We had a great time... very good family time
Amazing to see the dunes in the fall. You can see baby fish along the beach coastline and you can climb the numerous dunes in the area. The only drawback we found was that the nearby washroom was locked up for the season.
Love it here come every year
Lots of beach. Parking is good. Easy to get in and out
It is less crowded compared to other beaches.
The beach is clean and very enjoyable if you go early.we reached at 9 and back by 2. After noon, it's more crowded.Washroom are in use and sanitized properly.
So much space compared to the main sandbanks beach, the water is lovely, and the dunes were actually super fun!
The sand was brown and some spots muddy. Not appealing.
Lake water is still high beach was as best as it could be
Water has come up very high so theres very little beach left at Dunes and outlet beach
Breathtaking views, massive sand dunes, beautiful water, boating access, walking trails, canteen. Incredible. A must-see!
Pretty beach, super soft sand just like at Outlet beach but the water isn't as clear looking
The canteen washrooms were not open and as yet the beach had not been raked for winter leaves. That being said, we will be back!
The entire area is flooded. Nothing is prepared for the tourists.
Feels like you are somewhere tropical. We have been coming here for years and will continue to do so for years to come. Hidden gem!
Nice quiet area, the beach isn't as nice as the others nearby but it was more tranquil and I enjoyed that. Didn't feel like we had people supervising us, but rather we were just on a nature beach. 21$ parking tho $$$
During June, with the lake at record high levels, most of the beach is underwater. And you need to wade through wet areas to walk to the dunes. Still a wonderful place to visit, as always.
On July 7th 2018 we visited the park, I paid for parking we also had a handicap permit in our visor that was noticeable and still received a $30 fine. Do your employees not look for these thing's or do they have a quota that they have to fill for tickets each day. You would think that you would want people to have a lovely time in the park. But instead you hand out fines to people for no reason. Next time we decide to go to a provincial park to swim it will not be the Dunes Beach. And when you call the Dunes office to resolve the issue you get the runaround. Not very impressed with the person that wrote the fine or the park for their lack of communication or their service's. Thanks for the memorable experience. ????????????????????
The dunes are of various heights, some very high sloppin right into Lake Ontario, you would think you are in part of a desert, the lake & Dunes look like something from a movie. Lovely resort opposite dunes where not only food was good but view of dunes perfect.
Nice beach and nature. The whole park lacks basic facilities for changing, food or other services.
Its good but not that good beach .. go to lakeshore beach instead in Sandbanks
Awesome beach to spend a day!
Great place to cool down on a hot day!
I have been going there forever it is amazing and I definitely recommend it for a nice family visit to beach. I thought the water was a fine temperature but makes sure to bring an umbrell because it gets hot.????????????❤
Dunes trail not so interesting. Beach is okay.
Walk through water bodies to get to the sand dunes and the beach area...nice to spend time during summers
Beautiful sandy beach. Nice and clean too.
Our theist beloved place in the summer.
Need some shelters near the beach otherwise this is a great beach
The dunes were kind of cool...but the beach/water was terrible. Some nasty green foam floating about. That being said, the rest of the beaches are nice.
One of a kind beach, only water had a dirty white crown when I visited.
Awesome dunes and beaches
Though it was bigger and more options
Beautiful place to visit with family.. the beach was awesome
Great beach, beautiful clean sand, you can walk out for miles and still only be knee deep. Great for families with smaller children. There is a snack bar and ice cream place directly across the street from the beach. Bring the water & sand toys and have fun. Plenty of parking.
Water was so warm. Beach was shallow enough for kids and we didn't have to worry so much.
Beautiful park. Great for hiking.
Great place to spend the day & relax! Beaches are great! Been there a lot!!
Excellent crowd Just need some food location nearby. Must visit once in summer holiday
Nice beach less crowded.
Beautiful beach. We spent 10 hours there and the kids still weren't ready to go.
Did not go near as friends say the water is quite dirty and smelly
Was deserted when we got there.. Was too cold to get into the water.. Is good if your looking for a quiet spot.
Good spo
Amazing experience here! Despite having to walk through flooded path to get to the dunes, it was totally worth it as we had a very fun time running down the high dunes and even swam a bit in the water! A super clean and hidden gem in Sandbanks.
After the outlet beach day, we finished our trip with the dunes. Beautifulllll!!!:-)
Excellent beach to take the children to. The water is clean and shallow so you don't have to worry too much about them. The dunes are beautiful and fun to explore as well.
Loved it. The only part that i didn't like, is when we were going to explore the other beaches. On our way out we were told that if we go out we won't be able to go back in the park . So we stayed at dunes .
Decent beach in Prince Edward county. Although, there is a nice dune of sand, the actual beach is pretty small, which definitely limits the access to water. The lac is pretty nice and the view is good. I would recommend for a family day at the beach but hope for a non crowed day.
Very sandy ????
Awesome. No one was there. Great beach. Great water!
Dunes beach is the better one for families and large groups as there is more space to spread out, more picnic facilities, closer to parking lots and calmer water. The outlet beach has better views but is narrower and needs a bit of a hike up the dunes to get there so better suited for fitter individuals
Great place for a family outing. Need to reach the place a bit early ( around 10 am). It is mostly busy and can get a bit crowded at times
Spend a lovely day with all the family holiday in canada
The sand was just exceptional!!!
Beautiful spot. Food bathrooms, gorgeous Sandy Beach
One of a kind beach with winding sandy paths. We enjoyed the waters and walking along the sand.
Great beach. Perfect for kids
Good beach, very shallow, has a small playground washrooms and a snack bar. Would go there again! Very good for small kids
Great beach! Perfect place for kids and family. If you like going to beach in the afternoon, this is a superior place because of natural shades.
A very different beach! Dunes and water
The dunes here are fantastic. Almost seems like you are in the desert. One of a kind place in ontario and definately recommend coming. Like to get in did take a while though as it can get busy.
Beautiful big sandy dunes that lead right to the beach. A lot of the beach area right by the water is narrow (it slopes up quickly to to the dunes) but maybe that's because the water level is high right now (dunes trail is flooded and closed). The beach part by the water was fairly crowded and we had to walk a ways to find an empty spot. Parking was bad and pretty much filled up, we had to get creative. Expensive for a day pass ($21). If meeting up with friends, you should consider carpooling (we parked one of our cars roadside outside the park). Water was nice and the area itself is fun to explore and beautiful.
Nice beach. Can get pretty busy but it's a nice get away for the family.
Really nice beach
So beautiful and love the dunes. Water is warm in the summer and the kids love it.
Not bad!~
In a windy day I prefer this beach, water is always warmer and calmer than on Sandbanks beaches. The parking lots are very busy on weekends, so come earlier or late after 5pm. Walk beyond public beaches, less people. Views from the dunes are beautiful.
Most beautiful beach I have seen in Canada. Thought I was in Florida ! First time here.
Quiet water. Very busy. Get there early and take the dunes trail towards the beach for best spots.
Fantastic spot to visit, highly suggest getting here early parking up for the day and having a time!
Spectacular dunes right up to the water's edge with a shallow shoreline for swimming. Also a good flat beach. Can be very busy.
Picturesque and you never know what you'll see when walking the trails
The dunes are Amazing! The kids had such a great time running up and down them.
Great good place to clear out the cobwebs and get outa the house
It was cold and windy in October, good spot for swimming in summers
Amazing sand dunes. The water was lovely and enjoyed swimming! Great place to visit in the Sandbanks park.
Very large sand hills. Beautiful
Water is a very pleasant temperature (in July) and relatively clean!
Nothing to see here. It's not a great place you should stay away. Tell no one about it
Trails flooded on 2019 but cool spot. Cafe is reasonably priced but needs real ice cream bar.
Nice place, not too crowded!
Beautiful place but very crowded
Great place for active children
Try to go every year .Love it there. Great beach you can walk for miles in shallow waters .No rocks ,very clean ,beautiful scenery and large campsites .Restaurant on site also convenient stores and outside theater !! Dog beach as well .
LOVED IT. what a wonderful beach and park.
Nice beach looks clean. It's a locked down so not sure how it's like if the place was filled
Great beach...and the dunes are amazing
Great for a day trio
What a fun place to visit! The kids loved it and it was nice and clean. Would definitely recommend this beach over the main one.
A wonderful time with my grandchildren, their friends and my spn.
Visited for our first time last Tuesday and arrived just before 9am (highly recommend getting in early) and had our pick of spots to set up for the day. Plenty of (flat) beach close to parking lot, restrooms, garbage/recycling cans, playground and canteen (canteen didn't happen to be open during our visit & hours weren't posted) or you can venture out into the gorgeous (steeper) dunes for quite a while. The water at the entrance of the beach is quite shallow for a while then (marked w buoys) has a steep drop off (great for cooling off in as the shallow water is quite warm). Awesome experience for young kids and adults, thankfully we packed an umbrella for shade, cooler w lunch/drinks and some beach toys. It was a windy day so the bugs weren't a bother, but we were warned of pesky sand flies. So lucky to have such a scenic beach so close by, can't wait to return!
It was great place for the RC cars
Great beach. Water was like bath water. Neat place to spend the day
Favorite place to visit year round
A good place for leisure.
Best beach I've personally ever been to in ontario/Quebec. The sand is as fine and soft as powder!
Nice shallow areas but then a rapid drop. I would suggest a lifejacket if you have small kids
Unfortunately there has been flooding and there is no real beach to speak of.
Great beach and lots of space so you don't feel crowded.
Best beach in Ontario so far I felt like I was in the Caribbean
Beautiful beach. Excellent for kids
Really beautiful , except for the odd bit of garbage left on the beach by ignorant people.
Very nice
Beautiful sand dunes to climb and run down my kids loved it here
