Great place to spend a lazy weekend with friends and family. Stayed at the Grand Tappattoo resort, beautiful location, wonderful service and great staff. Planning second visit in Fall 2022. Highly recommended.

I couldn't believe how beautiful our site was! It was right on the water. We had brought a canoe up so we were able to leave it in the water tied up to a tree. We could hear the train but honestly it didn't bother either of us. Definitely worth considering for your next camping trip!

Lindsay Carter

Very small park. We had site 8 by the beach. It was a very tight for for our 28ft trailer to get in and out. Those sites by the beach looked more like a parking lot with barely any privacy. There were nicer bigger sites further away from the beach. I'm giving it 3 stars because the beach was great and the water was nice and clear and pretty sunsets!

Went camping here in July as part of a road trip and we were very impressed with how clean and scenic this campground was. It’s located on Oastler Lake and offers a variety of unique campsites. We would definitely camp here again.

Wonderful park. Lots to see and do here. Explore the park and water during the day and get cozy by the campfire after dusk. Lots of flowers, plants, mushrooms and insects to see while doing some hiking.

Oastler Park is a good site for camping, the only thing that makes this a 3 star is every other time, train is so close and horns very. Also, securities are too sensitive. They always tell us to keep quiet while others is louder than us.

Amazing views and quiet lake. Water front camps are so gorgeous. The only problem i can say is the train tracks near by which will wale you up in the middle of night by huge noise of trains.

Rodrigo Melo

100% recommended. Family, couples, friends, greatest place to enjoy a weekend, holidays.

The proximity to Parry Sound is amazing, and the lake (we went to the dog beach) was nice to swim in. We were pretty rained out so it's hard to give a good rating on most of the park, but the amenities were decent enough and the staff very friendly. The trains, however, were exceptional. All through the day and night you will occasionally hear the rumble and *feel* the horns. If you're looking to get into nature, or a nice sleep, that will pull you right out of it. But if you really like loud trains then 10/10!

Awesome camping spot! Facilities are nice. Try and get a spot by the lake (premium), totally worth it! And the lake is great for fishing. We caught a pike but you can also catch small mount and large mouth bass here if you are lucky :). Oastler lake team, Thank you!

beautiful place, helpful staff, electricity available in most locations, hot shower, everything you want from a perfect park except one problem at night! the train passes over you almost... noisy horn several times during the night. also you hear noise from the near road. it is not silent as it is expected from a campsite.

The park has amazing lake. It is clean and quiet except when the train comes but it did not bother us. There are canoes, kayaks and paddle boards for rent. I am glad we discovered this place. Our family get away during summer.

One of the best campsites Ive ever been to. Spacious waterfront sites and a wonderful lake. Nice, clean facilities as well. Train noise close by was noisy at night, but in deep sleep it did not bother us. Looking forward to going back next year as well!

Gary Yip

Overall a great experience. The train does come by once in a while which may wake you up. Otherwise, it's very quiet here.

Ron Hamilton

A very nice place to camp! It has a beautiful clean fresh water beach, where it is great for kids to play in the sand and great for all to swim in! The water temperature is often comfortably warmer than nearby Georgian Bay!

Choo Choo!!! A train runs next to the park on the hour. Ridiculously loud and they like to honk several times as they pass. It's a small park with 200+ sites, and they are built such that most sites have a gorgeous view of the lake or are built on the perimeter of the lake. If not for the train I would have given this place a 4 star. There were no flies on the weekend of June 14th. Huge plus. On the negative side, the place was infested with gazillion caterpillars. It was, quite literally, raining caterpillars.

Beautiful Provincal park. Washrooms where clean and easy to access. The dog beach is on the small size but it did the trick. Be prepared to hear a train almost ever hour. It was loud when I was on my site 423. The camp site was clean on arrival and was a good size with good privacy. However the tree coverage was a lot and I found myself wanting the sun. Also note that there are no hiking trails on site. There are showers and flush toilets. The regular beach is very nice and clean. You can rent canoes, kayaks, paddle boats and sup boards. Overall good time.

The place had a lot of campers but the area was clean, and quieted down in the evening. Many camping spots are bordered by trees, so very private. Locations for radio-free camping are available. Nice beach. Great for kids. Washrooms were very clean.

Oastler Park... Many pros/cons. I stayed at campsite #001 on beachside campground. Everything was close, the beach which was spectacular was literally a 1 minute walk, wood and ice was around the bend. Privacy was great, our campsite had a …

Beata Czartoryski

I got the last spot and can't even complain about location of camp but the train noise did bother me. One night is fine. I walked the grounds and must say many spots on lake might be worth the noise to use the lake.

Emma Roung

So beautiful! There is an active bear but it's only a small black bear. The train sound is not bad at all; if you are an extremely light sleeper I would suggest picking a campground on the point! The walk in campsites are very quiet and much more private. Washrooms are clean.

weber luo

Short distance from Perry Sound, nice view and facilities, you can bike, kayaking there. There are some beautiful camp spots (premium sites) you can set tant overviewing the lake.

Ahmed Al-Wattar

It's beautiful park for camping, surrounded by water. The radio free camp sites are walk in only. They are great though. No car means more quiet. The only catch for this park is you can hear the train at night. It might annoy some .

Em Magistrado

It's a great place for younger kids and dog. The dog beach is perfect, the beach is clean. Campsite is a little small, no privacy. There's Blue Jays And chipmunks everywhere by the Beach campground. Would definitely go back again.

Train loud.....definitely a deal breaker re returning. Not sure why few people mention the trains......they're completely out of control. We counted anywhere from 18-30 trains a day (we stayed for 7 days of our scheduled 9) and they ALL whistle right across from the park entrance. That's 4 whistles x 18-30 trains, and its 24 hours a day. It's not quiet off in the distance noise either, it's well above 80 decibels. River lots get traffic passing them all day, so stay away from them if you want a safe place for kids to play.. Comfort stations cleanliness 4/10. Showers were dirty and hair clogged drains. Staff, all young were very helpful. Red buoy across from park in W Bay apparently mark's a good fishing shoal. I also found 2 hidden rock piles. I caught 3 pike and 1 bass all week. Wind, although subtle can push you easily to other end of the lake, so watch for that ifiyoure an avid paddler like myself. Rose point trail is directly across from the entrance to park. Brings you right into parry sound. Rugged shores trail on Salt Dock road in town was amazing for off leash dog walks. Beautiful along Georgian bay shores. Mauritzios pizza was good in town and only 10 minutes til ready.

Sean Livingston (Livingston Cabinetry)

Nice camp sites with great water access. Not private sites, though. Also, no mosquitoes! No bug spray all weekend.

oL Dusty

Very nice camp ground. Quick drive to town for supplies. Like all the other reviews, there's a train horn at night, seems worse depending on where you're site is tho and some nights were better than others for it. Didn't bother me, but I definitely heard some people bothered by it

Justin Labelle

My spouse and I had so much fun. She used to camp there during her childhood and loved it. The campground was pretty full but we had a beautiful campsite. The pictures attached are the view from our campsite. I believe it was campsite 131 or around that.

Omer Qureshi

Such a beautiful park.. Good for fishing. Connoe rental on site. its small still enjoyable.. washrooms were disgusting. I dont mind old school washrooms. But least clean the spider webs in there. Surprisingly washrooms do have sensitizers in it. But no cleaniness.

Been to many Ontario parks, this one has to be probably my least favourite so far. While the layout is nice, the privacy of the sites isn’t the best, and it’s a very loud park. Some people don’t mind the train, we found it was a bit excessive. The comfort station was very clean. Staff didn’t seem to take their jobs seriously

J T

Awesome place. The sites can be a little close together but other than that a wonderful lake to kayak around.

Mayoo N

Had great time at Oastler Lake PP and except the train noise, loved everything about this place !

Denis and Laura Lamarre

Beautiful area, but very crowded, and not much privacy. Besides the main comfort station, the outhouses and bathrooms are filthy. The train runs closely, often and quiet loud. We stayed in the "radio free area," with wardens walking through quite regularly during the day, but late in to the night, campers were partying with radios on and wardens were nowhere to be found.

Kirstie Deering

The views are stunning. The dog area is small but clean and has the nicest water. Pad slope on our site was significant and not indicated in booking info but our stay was wonderful once we we were parked and leveled. Lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy- fishing, canoe rentals etc 10/10 would come back.

Greg Stanton

Great Provincial Park for camping with a young family. Everything is close and within walking distance. Beach is great, park is beautiful, and everything is relatively clean. Sites are close, privacy is average. The comments about the train are accurate. It's super loud at night. On the second night we got used to it. Also the park firewood seemed like it was stored at the bottom of the lake as it was very saturated. Overall buy kindling and ear plugs and you'll have a good time.

It was a great 4-day getaway. Only downside was the sound of the trains passing by but we quickly got over it. This camp ground might not be great for families with small children due to the loud train sounds in the middle of the night and early morning. Washrooms need better attention. I do not think they visit daily (at least not when I was there). I had to walk a little further to use the main washrooms as the outhouses were completely flooded.

Paul

I have been coming here for 20 years, now with my own children. The train can be loud at night but other than that the place is friendly, clean and beautiful.

Correy Styles

Oastler Lake Provincial Park is beautiful. 5 star beautiful. I only give 4 stars because some of the amenities are lacking on the camping side of things. There is only one comfort station with no parking except 1 handicap spot so it is a bit of a trek to shower for able folk. The 1 handicap spot is at the bottom of a hill & the showers are at the top. For someone with mobility issues, it is very difficult to get to. The roadways in the park are in rough condition, way too many potholes. One was longer & wider than our truck and after three days of rain the the bottom of the truck skimmed the water as we drove through. I'm hoping maintenance has just been delayed due to covid. We have a smaller rig so were able to camp in the Hardwood Hills. We had a birdseye view of the lake and our own private lake access if you are able to make the climb down, it's quite steep. Leveling blocks are essential if you have a rig up there. There was about a 6 inch difference to get us levelled.

Moaz Sakouhi

Small but gorgeous park, many great options for water front sites and about 30 mins away from parry sound.

Is a nice little park. Staff is friendly and keep the facilities very clean. There are a couple of things that you should be aware of if you're going to camp here. First, the park is very close to an active rail line which means there are numerous trains going by daily and they do sound their horns. There is also a main road going into Parry Sound. Second, at least for the beachfront electrical sites, they are very close together and very few trees/bushes between them. If it wasn't for the fact that our neighbors both had very large travel trailers privacy would have been a concern.

What can I say…I love this place! Just returned from 4 nights camping with my wife and had a fantastic time! Wide variety of campsites, from walk in tenting to large RV’s….ours was #425, very shaded but slight slope front to back. Very …

We had a good time because we made it a good time, but there was little to no privacy at our Oastler Lake campsite. We booked site 148 but the map and images were misleading. There was 0 privacy on 3 of the four sides of our site, and upon further inspection, most all campsites we saw had very little privacy. We hung a tarp "wall" along one side and used our car and large tent to block another so we made it work, but that wasn't really the camping experience we were looking for. The best part about our site was the shared private water access with the two sites beside it, so we could leave our paddleboards out and not have to haul them across the campground every time we wanted to take them out. On another note, the washrooms could have been cleaner but not the worst I've seen, the lake itself was beautiful, the staff were very pleasant, and we didn't really notice the train from our site. We will be giving other provincial parks a try in the future, but we will not be booking at Oastler Lake again.

sherry munslow

Relaxed friendly calm day use area. It was free the last week for summer to use the day area which was a nice surprise ...canoes paddleboards and kayaks were right on the beach to rent for 2 or 4 hours....brand new equipment band life jackets. 20 per boat for 2 hours. We will be back next year to try the camping which looked amazing.

Glenn Slater

The train. Wow the train. There is a double high cargo train that runs parallel to the entrance road. It is not a 1km from the campground. It went through once per hour 24hrs a day when I was there in Mid September 2020. We had to pause conversations because the squealing and grinding noises of the train on the tracks made it hard to hear each other when it passed. The whistle was even worse, it was like having an alarm clock go off every hour while you're sleeping. It blew the horn a lot as it approached and passed the park. It took minutes to pass, not just a minute for two, but 5 or so minutes. Thankfully I had earplugs for the second night to dull it a bit. I could see transport trucks on a highway as I looked out over the lake from my campsite in the picture. I can imagine this park would be very loud when fully booked. Some sites even overlook other sites and no privacy would be available. I stayed at the walk in sites at the Point. There were only 3 sites in use which was nice. It's not a very private area and some of the fire pits are very close together. The firewood I bought from their shed was wet. Overall I drove 3.5hours north and it didn't feel like an escape to nature. It was too loud between the train, the offroad vehicles the park guys drove, the dogs at cottages across the lake, people partying at cottages across the lake etc. This was mid-September with very few families at the park. I won't return.

Justin Majik

A smaller Provincial Park. There are no designated trails at this park but a walk through it is just as nice. Situated on beautiful Oastler Lake that has Pike and Bass. The complaints of trains near this park is not as bad as city noise or yelling people. The train did not bother us at all. 10 minutes from Parry Sound.

Vincent Fournier

If it wasn't for being beside a train track and the trains blowing their horn at all hours of the night I would have given this place five stars. Great staff, nice lake, nice setup. If you can sleep through the train horn then by all means, great place but for those like us who can't, then maybe another site might be better.

Scott N

Nice beach and pretty shorelines. Many nice campsites. Ours was not close to the water which was not as nice. Dog beach is nice. You must be aware the train is loud. Great place to go for a few days to swim and relax on the beach or dog beach if you have a dog. Good for boating as well.

Gordin Warner

My camp site was right on the water. Just outside of Parry Sound. Hopefully you like trains because you'll hear them all night long.

Michael Bennie

The train noise was definitely note worthy, but more than that it was the lack of privacy between sites. Also, found it to be one of the smaller sites we had ever camped on and all dirt, no grass. They definitely have used up every square …

Stephanie V

Great location off the highway, with stunning views. The view from the camp sites that are right on the lake are unbelievable. Such an awesome experience being able to swim right at your camp site. Almost all sites come with two picnic tables, which comes in handy. For sites that don't have water access, there is a great beach. The dog beach was small and not as inviting however. Main complaint was the train at night time which is very loud, so highly recommend ear plugs.
