Great park! Was nice to see kids playing T-Ball and also had a bunch of people playing on the hill behind the park. Also nice to see the dogs. The atmosphere is nice and is a great example of a park where respectful parents and dog owners can get along!

Pretty good sledding hill! It was coated with ice when we got there, which was a blast until my child went shooting off into the woods and bumped her head. In other words, it's everything that a sledding hill should be: wildly fun and only moderately unsafe ;) In all seriousness, it's a pretty small hill with a long run out. Just put your feet down before you hit the tree line :)

During winter, this is the best snow hill for Alta Vista. It is a man made hill, not steep but quite long, and the clearance is unobstructed. Bring a longer snow sled. Since it is not steep it is best for kids, and there tend to be a lot of parents especially on holiday mornings or during Christmas break.

Great for kids and dogs alike. In the winter though it can get a little slushy by the woods. And if there's a downpour the woods can get very muddy.

Our 2nd to present trips from January to February Ok wicked experience! We found it the same night as trip 1 but our time was cut short. Wicked place to go sledding!! Nice days its busy, go at night and it's lit up until 10 or 11pm!! The city website can help with that under sled hills. Ignore Google maps seriously! Instead continue down over the hill on Ogilvie Rd. Notice the mall on your left. Through the lights, drive onto the road to your left literally past the mall. That very first road. Drive down past the mall which is on your left (your basically driving to the back of the mall. You'll see parking just beside the hill on your left or if it's full park behind the mall & just walk over! Super great place!! Our 1st trip: We didn't have a chance to try it due to time of day. It's definitely easier to find if one could get out & walk around. Not the best signing. As its an authenticated sled hill in Ottawa, the city rep may want to consider getting a sign for newbees to the area. We sat near an empty lot & waited to try to see kids on sleds so we'd know where to go but it took considerably longer than it may have later in the day or on a weekend.

Seeing the world In a different way

Grasshopper Hill Park at 1615 Kilborn Ave is a nice small place to walk around with your dog, go tobogganing with little children and take your kids to play baseball. There are connecting greenspaces to the park so you can also see some woodland/ brush areas as well as find short cuts through the neighborhood without venturing onto the streets. There is a small parking lot and people also use the street to park when their kids are playing baseball. If you like my reviews, photos or videos give a thumbs up or just go for a pleasant walk to enjoy the nice weather. But on the cold days of winter the open field creates a very strong wind that can make that walk really uncomfortable.

I loved going here with my dog in the summer. My kids were able to play on the structures while I played with my dog. We also like going here in the winter. The hill is great for sledding.

This park was actually named Little League park when I was growing up in Ottawa. That was because there was a baseball diamond there. We always used to walk our dog up there. In my book 'A Crack in the Pavement' I wrote about the woods which is just by it.

This is an off leash dog park in the middle as well as a playground and baseball field. We love taking our dog here for runs and is nice to see everyone in the neighborhood out and about. There’s a forest in the back that’s great for walking through. Just make sure to bring boots in the spring and fall!!

Quite a large park with some nice trails. Newer structure was added. Also, you can see lots of dogs being walked. Often dogs are left off leash

Great place to meet dog owners or parents. Usually dogs should stay on their leash but here most dogs are friendly and run free. Just remember dogs are always unpredictable especially with strangers

Good hill for sledding with younger kids. Parking lot is either not plowed or very poorly ploughed. Kids enjoyed the hill though probably not steep enough for kids who like a bigger thrill...

Had a very pleasant walk at Grasshopper Park this afternoon. It was very peaceful. Beware, some of the paths are quite muddy (slippery) so you need the appropriate footwear. Lots of dog walkers & a nice little playground for children

Lovely large park - 2 well groomed ball parks with seating; paved paths; play structure, shrubs & trees, dog on leash friendly, park benches, easy access, small parking lot but plenty on-street parking spaces - green fields ... a jewel of a park!
