Great place to come a relax with your thought.
Great park and beach
The beach has been closed all season. Made up for by the good burger at Baja burger shack
Nice clean quiet well maintained property.
While it is a great place for a walk, the swimming here is not great. Little parking and very overcrowded. But it has a lot of positives - amazing trails & paths. Great sights. There are boats in the water. Nice ice cream spot close by.
Beautiful, spacious park with large, mature trees. The beach is also quite spacious and sandy. The water area is sandy for the most part and you don't encounter many weeds until you're out quite far. The city tests the water daily so you know when it's safe to swim. There are outdoor showers on site as well as multiple washrooms. There is a also the Baha Burger shack which sells food and cold drinks. The number 16 bus services this beach and stops right in front of the main path.
Each time we want to visit this place happens something wrong! ???????? First time we were here, there was a lot of bacteria in water so the swimming was prohibited, today people came... with their DOGS!!! And guess what - they went with animals right into the water with little children playing around. Although they were a little apart of the majority of swimmers, the risk of getting"catch" bacteria (or parasites) is extremely high, because they multiply fast at the shell water. The administration of the beach should reconsider their entrance policy and let people with children use beach more safely.
Delightful hour at this lovely beach yesterday watching my granddaughter experience all the water pools at the shore and the shallow sandy areas where she could walk into the water up to her knees. We'll be back tomorrow to swim. Abby met the Lifeguard "up there" in her high station. ????
This park is a real gem in the West end of Ottawa. Nested between the Ottawa River and Carling, down the hill from the intersection of Carling and Pinecrest, thus park offers a beautiful sandy beach, covered picnic areas, public washrooms, bike paths, and a great view to the Quebec side of the river. A wonderful place for a walk or splash on a hot day. Suitable for all ages.
Always very busy. Lovely place to come in the summer. Clean and well kept beach. This is a nice swimming beach in the city. They have a licensed restaurant with food and various drinks. There is karaoke on Wednesdays (as well as our beach volleyball league, which is why I come here) On a windy day, come to see all the sailboats!
Visit this park every year! The best place for BBQ!!!! Each year our association invites over 500 people there for the great celebration.
Beautiful place to have a picnic and go for a swim
Ottawa is blessed ot have so many places to enjoy the outdoors. Britannia Beach is great, it just gets packed sometimes.
Beautiful place during both summer & winter. Has cycling track, bbq place, family picnic area as well.
Great place to have fun with friends or family, although in the water where they draw the line not to pass it within it is very shallow so i guess its more for kids than for adults but it is a great place to have a BBQ and chill with friends and family
Nice place. Small burgershack on site. Dont expect to use any of the BBQ on site. Family's of 8 to 16 ppl arrive at 7am and camp out for the day...
The sunset view is so beautiful. There is a family picnic and bbq area. The beach is good too.
I wish there was more funding to provide better service. Like cleaning the grounds and fixing lawn patches and expanding toe area available to swim.
Very nice area to roam around in a quiet neighborhood. You can walk from Britannia Beach to Andrew Hayden park with in 15-20 minutes. A very quiet trail connects them both. Enjoy walking here morning and evening time. Public washroom available on beach and park. Must visit place with family and kids. Lot of parking spaces available around the beach. And parking is free.
one of my fav things is watching the sunrise and sunset here, what makes it even more Ottawa-esk are the multicultural couples who sit around me and argue, reminds me that love aint all that
Best to visit in summer and enjoy beach environment. Winter makes water froze.
This is a great place to go in Ottawa during the summertime. It is free to access and has plenty of parking for vehicles and bicycles. The beach front is spacious and will get quite busy. There are spots to walk around or read a book. Also there is a restaurant to grab food if you get hungry. A must do for a sunny day in Ottawa.
Good spot lots of kids though
Beautiful park to hang out with friends & family. There's ponds and a huge lake. Bathrooms look dirty and old.
Lots more sand and beach space, for all to enjoy, just need more parking I bet come the summers. Was lovely to be there 9 Nov 2020 for lunch in near 20c temps!
Lovely urban beach and snack shack. Great place to view the sunset.
It was fun and windy ????
Plenty of parking. Very nice view. Lifeguards are very active. Can play beach volleyball.
My kid's grandma takes her there every summer to swim in the disgusting bacteria filled water. You can't even see they the murky brown water. Despite this my kid loves it.
HAD SOO MUCH FUN, water was beautiful!!
Been playing volleyball at this beach every summer for 5 years. Great spot to soak in the sun, trails nearby to bike and the Baja burger shack to grab beers and some finger food. The Crimson sunsets are beautiful to admire.
Nice beach and lots of open spaces. Just small parking lot.
Amazing place. The trails in the winter are awesome.
FYI 2020 the beach is technically closed because City of Ottawa closing Britannia Beach over summer 2020 for riverbed restoration. Britannia Beach is closing this summer for a $3-million riverbed restoration project, the City of Ottawa said on Jan. 24, 2020.
Lovely beach, nice parks around, well kept.
This is a truly beautiful Park along the Ottawa River. It is worth the drive from the East End. This park has everything: has a beautiful beach, lots of open space, playgrounds, bike paths, picnic areas...etc. definitely check this place out just be a bit wary that it can get extremely busy at times.
Awesome place. Great for kids and family ????
A wonderful park and beach area for the whole family. A great destination for cyclists to take a break and watch the activities on the go. It's clean and well kept. Lots of people come here to windsurf and kite-board. It's fun to watch. I personally like casting a few lines in the bay. I've caught bass and walleye and I've seen gar-pike.
Visit the park every now and then so I can draw things and scenery as well. A real quiet spot with a beachfront... if you have a significant other, bring them here on a date and walk the trails together. All and all a great spot to do recreational things!!
I Love going to this Beach it is so relaxing
Great place to watch the sunset! Bathrooms are in need of a huge maintenance. The smell is gross. Overall a nice place to relax.
Nice place to go with kids
Not the cleanest place in the city but a decent place to hang out outdoors.
I guess for the size of it it's not bad bathrooms are a little dirty Baja Burger Shack is a great place but a lot of needles on the ground
Muddy and flooded with ice and snow melt on some of the sidewalks. But still pretty to get out and walk about. Lots of birds flying around .
Nice place. Great for couples, families and friends.
Decent atmosphere but insanely buggy! Might have been time of year but have made a few stops there with the kids. Lots of black flies and bugs.
Amazing sunset !
Big park . alot of space for playing and swimming.a big parking for cars
Great beach. Parking is hard to get, I'd recommend taking the bus unless you get there by 10am.
Beautiful park and beach. Water is probably cleaner than Petrie's Island
Peacefully, nice, beautiful view on a sunset
Great place to take a family walk
Love this beach lots of open spaces and BBQ areas. Also a small take out shop for drinks, burgers and hot dogs.
I just started going to Britannia Beach again this year after nearly 15 years of only biking through. I'd forgotten what a great beach it is. I've been 3 times this summer. Will go more often next summer.
A great place to have family and friends to go out with. They got a gazibo and bbq grill through out the park. Even though i don't recommend using the bbq grill az i have noticed it is pretty disgusting as most of the people don't always end up cleaning ot after their use. Other than that it is a pretty Well maintained park by city of Ottawa crew. Play ground for kids with swings. A nice beach ,Baja restuarant(good food but heavy on pricing) fishing spot, canoeing rental, close by ice cream shop and more. I usually go there for a morning walk. After a nice walk on a path you get to view a scenic view of the water at the britania beech. Lots of parking space it has three different parking lots during the summer time it is everyones favourite place so make sure to get there early if you are planning to spend a whole day there as the office rush hour hits the park gets busier. Otherwise bus options are available as well or if you live close by then you can always just walk there. In winter i have seen a lot of people skating on the water or ice fishing snow showeing and lots of stuff on the lake. So enjoy this beautiful park.
It's a very nice and clean beach. Will be returning for sure..
Great spot. Well kept grounds. Plenty of space to picnic and enjoy beach.
Excellent place to visit with your family. Soak to the mesmerizing views of the sunset!
Good place for a picnic, a barbecue or to just have a good time enjoying the nature. Lots of trees provide great shadowed areas.
Hold strong everyone (5 starts for keeping up the good fight), still very wet on May 20th with the remaning high water from the 2019 floods.
Great place to have a picnic, take the kids to play, swim, play volleyball, have a burger and a beer, stroll along the path, watch the kite surfers, play Frisbee.... Just go. It's worth it.
Beautiful place to watch a sunset. But it's flooded at the time of this review being posted. Highly recommended for a peaceful outing
Beautiful park awesome place in Ottawa
Great public beach with lots of recreation areas to do pinicks and bbqs... Community center and burger joint available to the public... Great place to spend a sunny summer afternoon.
Nice beach. I'd give it 6 out of 10, busy, not the cleanest but it's pretty large for Ottawa
Beautiful beach, and outdoor activity area.
Photographing birds, especially fall warblers. Mud Lake trails are busy. There needs to be a public washroom available at the water filtration plant.
Love Britannia beach but unfortunately this summer the beach is closed for a revitalization program to fix the river bank.
Great place to go on a nice summer day! You can enjoy the beach, sun, water and it's the perfect place for the Sunset that I've found in Ottawa.
I like the sand was soft and freshly just done by a tractor swimming wasn't Recommend due to high level of bacteria level I'd suggest testing to be done ✅ as swimming is at your own risk
Nice view of the Ottawa river
A nice park, not dog friendly. As in, don't bother if you plan on bringing your pet. Naturally, the beach does not allow dogs; but, you can't walk through most of the park/grassy areas with your furry friend.
Not enough tables and chairs Not enough parking slots The water is dirty
My most favorite beach in Ottawa. Great for toddlers to seniors. It has bath rooms, a burger shack, and outdoor showers to rinse off. Early evenings there are volley ball games in the main beach and benches fir those who no longer play can sit and watch .
I haven't been in almost a 5 years. This is one of those places in Ottawa that is always clean and well taken care of. I had forgotten about the café. Bathrooms and plenty of shade made it a wonderful mid day at the beach ????! Great for the whole family...
Clean park with a sandy beach and shady grassy areas that are great for picnics and BBQs. Bike paths, volleyball nets, and launch points for para-sailing mean there are lots of things to do and see. The park even has a small kiosk that sells burgers, ice-cream, and drinks. Can get busy due to its popularity.
Place is nice. Beach closed due to restoration work. Excellent place to wind surf.
A wonderful park and beach with great seating areas. Get there early because there is not enough parking....but at least the parking is free! (as opposed to Mooney's Bay)
I absolutely love this park and beach. Come here each year for a bike ride and swim. There is so much green-space, trails, and also beach. Great spot for a picnic as well.
Very busy place and not very clean.
Beautiful beach area with lots to do and there is a good place to eat
Great place to enjoy a day with family
LOVE LOVE LOVE this beach. Easy access. Wheelchair accessible. Choice of shaded or full sun. Bike paths, restaurant, washrooms & beautiful western views. Will definitely return.
Fun family beach to bring the kids .. pets are allowed on the outer part of beach
The sand has a lot of rock for beach volley ball. Other wise really nice to place during the evening since you can admire the sunset and the water.
Great beach with some rocks, shallow water great for kids. Love the park area and the outdoor play structures. Lots of bbq areas too.
Cold wind coming off the bay.
Got to go see the sailboat and it was great with Debbie and Charlie
Wow, felt like I was at Caribbean beach somewhere. Good to get out. 6ft distancing not a problem but restaurant lines no masks and some distancing. Usually the ones with a mask are distancing
Great spot to sit and relax, play games, or soak up the sun. Nice little licensed cantina on site too if you get hungry or thirsty.
Beautiful views in both winter and summer and everything in-between. Great place for kids, pets and has tons of room for large family gatherings
Nice place to fish out of the rock piers. Caught a fair share of catfish late in the evening. Other than catfish you can catch some pikes, bass and carps, nothing big though. Would’t recommend deep water lures, lots of snag.
It's a good place to visit on a Sunny day. Water is good, if not the best. Love the trail alongside water line, surrounded by trees both sides. Volleyball courts are beautiful. Sand is amazing. Never tried the food over there as I don't hear good about the burgers. Green grounds give kids a good place to play. Only thing, they don't have enough parking so if you are visiting on a busy day, prepare for looking for other places to park.
Nice place but the washrooms not always open also it's pretty crowded.
Costa del Ottawa! Even on a slightly chill November evening a walk along the beach here as the sun goes down is a very perfect way to end the day. Beach, park land, play structures for the kids and one of the cities best icecream parlours (and coffee shop) just a short walk away . Its got the lot!
Nice place to visit.. when we went it was flooded due to recent rains. No food courts or store were open.
This park is a favorite of the Wellness Walkers of Ottawa.... beautiful area and safe
I had not been back to Brit Beach in over 10 yrs. The renos and additions are great! Had a wonderful time fishing. Didnt catch anythibg as it was low tide and Im a newbie.
When the sun is setting, you can really grab some beautiful photos.
Nice beach in west Ottawa. Have been coming here with family and friends since childhood and always had great memories at this park and beach. Unfortunately the park was under water in some areas due to the flooding that occurred here recently. Nice jungle gym for the little kids to enjoy. Plenty of parking also.
Lovely beach and park. Lots of play, walks and places to sit. Great for family fun.
I loved the variety of spaces that I can walk around in. Beach? Grass? Trails? All good. And again so much space to enjoy!
Big beach and several playgrounds nearby. Lots of green space with BBQs for picnics (bring your own charcoal). Water is shallow so great for kids. Often crowded.
Amazing play park. Loads to see and do. Keeps the kids entertained for hours....
Park still open, but beach closed for the summer of 2020 for dredging operation.
lovely day out. water was clean and almost warm and shallow so you could sit in the water.
Parking was hidious. People were rude
I don't know why the City hasn't followed up with COVID-19 protocol. The washrooms are a disaster. No hand soap nor hand sanitizer. People are not wearing masks in the bathrooms.
Amazing place to hand around with friends and in the lap of nature ????
Lovely beach. Enjoyed swimming.
It was good but the wash room very dirty. My kid's were unable to use it complaining that it's too dirty ????. I do recommend constant cleaning of the wash room. Thanks
My go-to beach in Ottawa. Fairly clean, shallow water for the kiddos, washroom facilities, an enormous green space park, a play structure, a pier, and lots of nice sand!
Amazing place. I recommend
This is such a picnic spot sort of place it has beach, the vibe Is so good it also has benches to sit & also has picnic tables to have your food & also has net to play beach ball Its an amazing spot to chill with your friends & family
It's a lovely place but very flooded right now.
One of the most visited beaches in Ottawa, the water is super clean, perfect for swimming in the summer, with space for barbecue, volleyball etc...
A great fun place for family and friends. The scenic beauty when you walk or just enjoy the sand and water is just exotic. Water is not so deep, so kids who don't know swimming can still enjoy comfortably. A huge area with benches at various spots gives option for picnics. Restrooms are clean and well maintained too.
This is my favourite beach in the city. It's a good idea to check water quality reports before you swim. Beautiful at sunset. Plan extra time for parking.
Very beautiful place, especially at subset! There are sometimes people playing tamtams. You can swim there, the beach is small but nice.
Nice beach with large park area and a burger grill that serves beer. Small swimming area with several lifeguards.
Great swimming spot just outside of the city. Good beach and lots of activities and swimming space. Free parking and bus access are available
Great beach and awesome place for going for walk or bike rides
It's a beautiful place. A good place to have picnic, playing and to see sunset.
Great public beach area and consistently has some of the best water quality readings based on the data from the City of Ottawa web site. Good burger joint (licensed!), albeit pricey and nice general shore line park with lots of benches and access to bike paths. Especially good location to watch boats sail while sitting on the shore rocks while the sun sets.
One of the best in Ottawa. Currently the beach is under construction but still nice view. It has kids playground area, protected swimming area, BBQ places, and covered gazebo areas
The sun was out people were having fun it was super clean too. We just sat in grass on further end and watched the sun set. I do have trouble finding the actual parking thru gps. So I always park near the summer homes on the grass.
My favorite beach in Ottawa, clean, not too busy (especially during the week). Bring your chair and book, grab a coffee from the nearby coffee shop and enjoy mother nature breeze.
Beautiful place to have a day in the beach. Great spot for sunset watching!
Very crowded, not for family with kids , they are smoking weed and drunk. They should monitor this park. Not recommend at all.
Great community and park.
Its a wonderful place to spent your day.... Hot sun in the summer and the beach is just the right combination for the summer...... The sunrise and the sunset here is a breath taking view
Amazing beach. Not super crowded. Great for a family outing or for a date.
Great spot to enjoy sun, shade wind and water.
Beach are open! But water is still under ice ????
Awesome place for a walk (mind the geese poop everywhere) and a nice view of the water. The loop around is a goldmine of pokéstops, with a nice triangle in the middle good for dropping lures.
A very clean and spacious park in the west end. I really enjoyed coming here in the summer. The atmosphere is great as well. Not to sure about swimming but, fun nonetheless. Will definitely return in the future. Parking is free with lots of space. There is also some good shops in the local area to check. I was able to get free red bull in the summer too haha lucky!
My grandkids have a great time they are swimming in the water and playing at the park
The beach seemed clean, people were friendly and polite overall. The showers were open and available and there is a handwashing station as well. I had a great time and I am definitely going back.
Awesome place for outing with family and friends. You can go out there for picnic, barbecue and lots of fun.
This is probably my favourite beach in Ottawa. Much better than Mooney’s Bay. The further you go, the more quiet it is - something Mooney’s doesn’t have.
This place is so beautiful! There are trails to walk and a beach with so many lifeguards to enjoy.
Very clean beach, it's a great place to bring a hammock and read a book.
One of the best places to spend the evening on a summer day. Weekends can be crowded so you want to make sure to arrive early to find parking and a good spot if you are using their barbecue grills. Great place to hangout and watch the sunset. Grab some beach mats, your swim suites or your kayaks and enjoy the Ottawa River water. Don't forget the sunscreen on a sunny day :). There is a small burger joint called Baja Burger around the corner. They server great burgers and fries. Even their drinks are pretty good. The beach doesn't allow any alcoholic beverages so be mindful not to bring any on the beach.
I love this place. Any season is good, winter even better as it is just me, my music and a sandwich during lunch break. It is awesome to see how the landscape changes fast through the seasons and how much people enjoy the area.
No dog area and dog off leash areas are obscure and hard to follow for first time visitor. Be careful of large pipes and construction stuff near beach that are not roped off and will become hidden in the snow. Otherwise, beautiful park and beach.
You are working all day, so hectic at your workplace; your boss aren't in good terms with you then you go home afterwards your job No you shouldn't go home what you should do is you should select a nice spot in Britannia for yourself where you can forget about all the things happening in life and just focus on being happy at the moment. Hope this helps Helped me though!
Nice place to.enjoy the Day during the summer and fall. Free parking and space to walk and enjoy
It's a very good place to go on hot summer day, specially with kids. I just wish it was cleaner. People with no respect for the place keep throwing garbage anywhere.
I love EVERYTHING about this place. It's where I hang my hammock on a lazy afternoon, find my zen when life gets too stressful, get exercise swimming & walking, take awesome photos, read a good book, make new friends, listen to karaoke, have a pina colada with a good burger, go earthing, dance, have a winter wagon ride!
Big beach, great park for kids, nice burger shack for food and beer. All around excellent spot, nicely tucked in the very west end of Ottawa.
I love this park, but the cleanliness lately has not been very good. There is lots of litter around the garbage bins
Good beach. Only downside is the water quality especially after rain. Ottawa needs to hurry up and stop discharging untreated waist into the river.
Closed to swimming at the moment due to on-going dredging in the Bay. The Park area is open and very nice - and the near-by biking and walking trails are open.
Beautiful place and decent crowd
Nice beach. Public bathroom needs improvememt there.
Great place to watch the sun go down! There's a trail system in the area too, which is great for walks, jogging, etc.
Just passing though. Many families seemed to be enjoying the park and beach.
Amazing Location by the river
Awesome beach! It's shallow for awhile then eventually goes deeper, good for families. There's also a couple play structures for kids, washrooms and a place to eat. Lots of parking, too!
Perfect beach for Sunset lovers.
Wonderful beach. The sand is nice. The beach is clean. Kids enjoy it a lot.
Great spot of the family. Parks, clean bathrooms, Beach, lots of parking
Visited on very first week of official summer, had really good time with my friend. A pleasant place where you can swim, para surf, play beach volleyball, a place to eat and public bathrooms. It's really good place for a family weekend gateway. Plenty of kids with families, lots girls in bikinis to get sun kissed, ample parking and there is bus stop right before the beach. I hope that's pretty much info to make your decision!
The place is very nice to walk around, however the construction significantly reduces available space.
Had a group meetup during the evening. There is lots of parking, benches we used were under a canopy, there are port a potties nearby as well and plenty of garbage cans. Well maintained grass area and city buses also pass regularly until fairly late. Would definitely recommend as a meeting spot for family picnics or larger outdoor group meetings.
Love ???????? ???? this beach. One of Ottawa's best!!! With a snack food bar, plenty of picnic tables and shade too. Onsite restrooms, volleyball nets and also a quiet park setting to chilllll or grab a nap:))). Right of the bike path. Tons of free parking.
Nice place for family... small play toys for kids... grt for kids outdoor activities
Large clean beach with showers by the building. Paved walk to the point. Small burger shack. Play grounds for small children. Volleyball courts in sand. Can watch sailboats in Ottawa River. Many benches are in the shade and there are 2 parking lots. And if you are there in the evening, you can watch the sunset.
Great winds today, with lots of wind and kite surfers out doing tricks. Facilities open.
A beautiful area with a shallow Sandy beach and a great burger shack
Lots of space not crowded, free parking! Lifeguard on duty and snack bar on site.
Britannia Park and Beach is one of the most beautiful spots in all of Ottawa. The park features different diverse playgrounds, big lawns offering numerous spots for picnics as well as many banks that invite to take a break. The beach is surrounded by numerous beautiful paths that invite to hike. I'm looking forward to spending some time here in the summer.
Lovely place very calm and relaxing . Unfortunately every single table was dirty (to be expected) trying to eat and not being disgusted at the same was pretty tough . You can walk by the water and on the rocks which was a smoothing experience. Parking is free .
Excellent place for family and group picnics.
Gorgeous park. Can do many activities there, from swimming to walking to playing volleyball to doing yoga to relaxing to watching the sunset Sometimes they offer classes as well or many social events take place. Check out Facebook for that
Go early in the morning and smell the fresh air smells like ocean smell , the sand is not too bad
This is my favorite beach in Ottawa! It's much cleaner than others and less crowded. There's also a big section of grass with many trees to sit under. I also love that it's close to bike trails and the Britannia conservation area, as you can do many outdoor activities in one day, just around that area.
Great place for a family BBQ or get together. There are picnic tables and a covered area to protect you from sun & rain.
A beautiful beach, which houses tons of space for volleyball, tetherball, relaxation, and other popular beach pastimes. Staff is kind, there is a restaurant, and rental shop for balls, nets, canoes and boats. Me and my friends come here once a year for a get-together potluck to unwind and have a little fun in the sun. Totally worth visiting in the summer on a good day, and usually boasts the best water conditions of the four beaches in Ottawa.
Great place to go and relax. Lots of space so you can still get your social distance on for the most part while enjoying a day at the beach. Long cycle paths for walking, biking or rollerblading. Be sure to grab a sweet microcreamery ice cream cone at Beach Coners nearby on Britania road
Great park you can reserve areas and has bbq pits to make food have good time and kids can enjoy beach all around great place to party
Seriously one of the best beach around Ottawa/Gatineau! A lot of parking available around, picnic table, bathrooms, bike path and a nice and warm sand. The beach is perfect for young people because of shallow water. So take some time to enjoy it under a beautiful warming sun!
Amazing little spot in the center of the city for a quick getaway from hustle bustle. Beautiful sunset spot to sit and enjoy.
Good quality beach, newly dug out so it gets deep fast. Maintained by the city so it's clean and staffed during the summer.
It's unfortunate that people don't clean up after themselves. The ground is littered with small pieces of garbage from confetti, bits of plastic bottle caps, and a lot more.
Its a quite nice beach. Compared to Mooney's beach i think this one has more ora of a beach. Totally loved it and the view was breathtaking during sunset.
Water was cool people kept to social distancing :)
Beautiful large site on the river. Very accessible. Very popular and parking can be tight on busy days but the site itself is never crowded. It makes a nice destination for a bicycle ride or a family picnic.
Really nice place to sit with your friends or your love to sunset
It is a very clean beach. Play area and you can have a bbq and you can also buy food from the stand . Washrooms are clean and so are the change rooms. A wonderful place to spend a hot summer day in the city and there is lots of parking space unfortunately you have to pay .
Great spot to get close to the water. Parking can be a little crazy in the summer. But, it's worth the hassle for the park and beach!
Potholes Galore! It's a nice beach that gets very crowded in summer and can make parking a challenge. It has a restaurant, a community center, public restrooms, and great poke hunting.
Lovely park and a wonderful beach. Nice place to to go for a walk, or lay on the beach. Baja burger is next to the beach and there is an ice cream shop about a 3 min walk away.
This place is full of serene. One who loves peace must visit this place.
Very nice and clean beach. The park is also very good with options for bbq and picnics. Definitely need to try to get a chance to play volleyball here.
Really nice park for BBQs, family activities and even Solo walks. I come here at times to do some online crafts there are a few areas by the water that are really beautiful, and get that creativity rolling.
The is a great icecream shop. All there icecream is made fresh with local ingredients. There were lots of flavors for all tastes. I had the bakery explosion flavor, which was great and had lots of big chunks of cookie dough. Highly recommend. Similar quality to Merry Dairy.
A gorgeous fall day for a walk in the park and near the water. The shared path makes it the perfect place to walk, run or cycle.
A beautiful place to walk around and bring the fam. Have a picnic... eat at the canteen... play beach volleyball, or soccer in the field... BBQs, playground... definitely a free gem in the city. Only downside is the water isn't always so clean, I don't feel the best swimming in it.
Great park and beach now with small cafe open and extra toilet cleaning. Beach under reconstruction but the park is open. Careful with the very greedy gulls!
It was amazingggg. Love the variety. You have beach, park, nice shooting streets. All in a pack
Very nice beach and picnic area. Note however closed until 2021 season as they dredge the water and build up the beach.
Peaceful rest from the city, with water and lots of people just enjoy the sun and lounging or eating together. You can bike there along the Ottawa River bike path as well. A west-end Ottawa feature. There is very little in the way of a commercial presence.
Nice beach park for families and friends. Washrooms were not clean at all and needs urgent attention from authorities. Water could be higher for kids at some spots. So keep your kids behind the boundaries at all time. BBQ is allowed.
It's really a nice Beach and we 're enjoying right now becouse the park is beautiful around the river.
Came to just have lunch and over look the river, beauty!
Nice park for picnic (BBQing) and beach time
it's so beautiful, I love the factor that it has a park for kids and an amazing ice cream place right at the corner
Wonderful sandy beach, top-notch hamburger and drinks bar, lots of community volleyball!
The beach area is closed now. Under construction but still able to walk around if the weather allows
Along with Andrew Haydon, this is one of the best places to relax and spend quality time with family and friends
Organizing a birthday surprise party for my 8 yrs old beautiful daughter. Eventhough there was many other party at the same time. We have all the space needed to have our own. Feel relaxed and enjoy our time.
My favourite park where you play, walk, bike , swim and do BBQ in one single place. Also there are showers, washrooms, so nothings to worry about. The only thing I don't like in here the parking area is not easy to get parking spot. Otherwise one of the best parking in Ottawa.
Beautiful in the fall and not busy. Really nice place for a walk or to take family photos.
Today July 1, 2019 with family and friend we went to Britânia Park and Beach, long time I don't see a place like that, nice beach with sand and, lots of a place to barbecue with table, lots trees to have an nice nap, lol! Anyways I really recommend this place!
Large clean beach with plenty of room to spread out. Large shallow area to swim. Plenty of well-maintained park space with picnic tables, BBQ, and a large sheltered area. Great views, and great fun for the kids.
Although the beach is closed for swimming, there is still plenty of space to walk around and marvel at nature.
Peaceful and relaxing beach. You can swim , have picnic, or sit there for hours enjoying waves. Lot of parking space and washrooms are available.
Very good, busy but good....pebbles leading down to the water...annoying but it is a great place
Nice spacious park near the water
On a quiet winter night you can hear the coyotes tipping at mud lake. In the summer ripple of all cultures gather to picnic and bbq. It will be so nice to have the beach reopen this summer.
Enjoy this area very much, it’s clean, it’s spacious And simply a good place to spend the day ????
I love this park. Great spot to do picnic with your family. Barbecue are usually available on spot. Great beach spot in summers. Dogs are not allowed
Britannia Park and beach is a great place to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family. You can swim, sunbath, play in the water and there are large fields to play sports.you can also enjoy some isolated areas to look at the water or wildlife in the area. Britannia beach also is a great place to go to see the Canadian geese during the fall as thousands of them gather there before they migrate to the south. If you like my reviews, videos or photos push the beach thumbs up.
LOVE this location for both photo shoots with clients as well as a fun place to bring the littles
Great beach to relax... I have sen the Venus last night there.
The beach is really nice after the restoration. My son enjoyed the water quite a bit.
A real gem within the city to relax at. Plenty of park area to relax in and two beaches to enjoy. Picnic benches throughout allow families and groups to relax while kids play in the water. Come and enjoy!
Lovely park. Really nice place. BBQs could use an update.
Nice looking park/place! ????
Perfect place for get to gather and enjoyable while summer last.
Best place in Ottawa for dramatic sunsets
Great place to skip rocks. If you are into that.
Stunning beach area in the city.
Beautiful park and beach, not too busy during the week during the day. The water was warm and clear. The parking is a little tight, but overall a good experience.
Fun beach well maintained
Really nice place to visit on a sunny summer day. You can make your own BBQ or there are ice-cream and Burger you can get. Beach is small but clean. No dogs allowed in most part of the park. Public transit close by if you don't have a car, just get off the bus and you you see the beach and the river in front of you.
Not a bad spot, but the city would be wise to throw a bit of money towards the surrounding facilities. Bathrooms are gross and there is usually tons of litter between the rocks that surround the bay (the community does hold an annual spring clean initiative in the area that helps thankfully). Other than that it is a nice place to go for a walk or sit by the beach. I wouldn't swim in the water though... but that's just me.
Quite a nice beach. There is a good shallow area and lots of sand for kids to play in. Also a great spot for breach volleyball all summer long. There are washrooms and the Burger Shack for food. Usually a great atmosphere here. People also come to BBQ at the many public grills.
A beautiful park with a beautiful beach. It's got beach volleyball, wonderful kids play structure, great swimming and lots of shade to cool off from the hot sun! If ever you are feeling hungry, there is even a nice little canteen/restaurant right at the beach! Beautiful spot.
Beautiful beach and great place to watch the sunset. You can even have a barbecue or a picnic here. Water quality isn't the best though.
One can have a Mesmerizing and breath taking view of the beautiful Ottawa river ..
Canada Day is not cancelled. Not by real Canadians at least.
Beautiful park with sandy beach and green grass areas for picnics - for small and big groups! Playground for younger kids. Amazing scenary!
Great place to relax.
It's a great place for bringing your family. There are a bunch of places for picnic and some barbecue areas. Good for swimming, canoeing, and practice exercises. Also. There are public washrooms, showers, and a cantina to buy some snacks.
Amazing views of the water from the rocks great places for family barbecues, spacious beaches, and the Baja Shack has a great selection of food and drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic!
Excellent stop off place while riding the bike trail. Small children's play equipment. Bathrooms clean. Food is excellent ,hand made burgers from small cafe. Beer as well.
I'm living very close to Park. It's an amazing area where you can have fun with your children
Beautiful park with opportunities for walking, cycling and family gatherings. The old Trolley Station provides covered picnic tables. There are stores selling coffee and ice creams nearby. There is a parking lot adjacent to the park. Beach and views of the river at one side of the park.
Love this place , I've been coming here since I was a child. I recommend this place especially for families.
Nice place for rest and take a dip into the water. Take care there isn't lifeguards so maybe it's not ok to go with children who doesn't swim.
Volleyball courts had twigs and rocks on them, but we're still nice and the staff were helpful when one of the post fell. In general it's a really nice park.
Beautiful paths and gorgeous sun sets on the water. They have a bar kereoke and beach fun. Washrooms on site
Th e place was nice. Unfortunately there was a bacteria in water so we couldn't swim but other then that it was cute and pretty.
Nice park with beach. Already visited twice. This is a good place to make bar b q and grills. There are spots for bar b q too.
Classic beach in the region along the Ottawa River, great place to chill and relax.
Great place to view sunset and relax! Many great hidden spots for great photography bugs. Each time I go at various times of the evening, it presents itself in a different light and beauty.
A super popular spot, sometimes hard to find parking. Large rock outcrop forming a fun waterbreak. A formal beach area for swimming plus lots of multi use parkland for picnic, Frisbee or whatever.
Love the off leash dog park and the yoga and sound healing during the summer by Rebecca White Raven
Excellent family meeting place. Share a walk, meal, or watch the sailboats on the river.
This park is great for family and group, many activities can be done swimming, fishing, playground, walking, and enjoying the great view of the river and more...
The best ever place which I visit Everytime to get piece of mind.
Excellent place to spend some time admiring the river. Beautiful views, barbecue, cycling/walking path, beach, huge park, playground.
Great Beach for the family. Lots of space
A well kept Park and Beach. Very relaxing
Flooded you can still walk along the beach side the parking lot is almost halfway. Water from the river so parking will be limited for those who want to visit or just go take a look be careful
Large sandy beach, not too crowded even when the parking is full. Very hard to get a parking spot on sunny days if you arrive after noon.
Very nice beach, busy but there's space. Large park, BBQ areas, walking trails. Burger shack that sells beer.
If the water was swimable it would have 5 stars. Fairly clean and has a small shack go buy food /drink. Great place to bbq and walk /bike /enjoy the view. Lots of fishing of the pier too.
It's currently under renovation, so the beach and amenities are closed. Still not a bad walk though.
Very good beach to have fun with your family and also a good spot for swimming and BBQ.
I like coming here quite often since it's in my area. It is nice to have a beach so close by considering many cities don't have any beaches. It is very clean and water seems to be good as well. The current construction there can be a little disruptive, but it should be done by this August.
The park is on a peninsula jutting into the Ottawa river. Beautiful setting and very peaceful. Good for everyone including kids and seniors (ps I am a senior).
Great place for beach activities, fantastic sunsets!
I really used to love this beach. It is great because it is free parking and the restaurant there is fantastic. Nice atmosphere. The beach is good. But it is starting to fill up with people who bring their their own bbq's and carpets and pray all over and have no respect for other people's space.
Pretty disgusting beach compared to others I have been to. Very small beach overall. Luckily the park itself is fairly nice!
Awesome place. It starts just near the cineplex at Canada trust area and continues along the Rideau canal. Lots of trees, plants in the park. Lot of equipments for kids to play. Provision for boarders. Path walk by the canal is with awesome view. Place really worth a visit
It was my first time trying a beach in Canada, the park is really nice and spacious, I visited it on a Sunday and it was really great...very family friendly and the water is very clean...the restaurant there has really delicious chicken burgers...there is an ice cream shop right outside the park, make sure to try it as it is awesome ❤ Also, don't forget to check the water's safety from the official website.
Large beach and green areas. Showers, change rooms, lifegaurds, etc. The beach is a long way from the grass and shade so bring an umbrella if you want to stay on the beach. The kids play structure is ok.
Great for families and big groups. Picnic tables, bbq's, play structures, huge beach with volleyball nets, lots of grass to play football or frisbee. Shallow water with lifeguards in the summer season. The water has a great sunset. You can watch sailboats in the distance. There's a canteen/restaurant also. Bathrooms and water finding areas. There is also an information centre open during business hours. You can reserve some tables for big events.
Great big space for lots of activities. Has a huge beach, large grassed area, restaurant, and charcoal bbqs
Very nice place to enjoy you will love it but very hard to find the parking space
Out cycling and witnessed this peculiar site ... yes, that's snow not shoreline
Sucks that beach is closed for summer for dredging (but it needed it). Still a great place to hang out and Baja Shack for snacks and great smoothies, shakes.
Great beach/park. Lots to do with a large open great area, BBQ pits a large shaded area and kids play grounds. Parents easy to get around with a wheelchair.
Very nice beach and grass land/park around it! There is a largish play structure for kids. Bring your beach clothes and have a nice sunbath!!
The sand on the beach is pretty hard, not ideal for beach volleyball. I haven’t done any swimming here, but since it’s so close to the sailing club it’s nice seeing all of the sailboats out on the water.
It's ok. Its clean but most of the beach was closed when we were there
Good beach with life guards, changing rooms, burger shack, picnic areas, and different play structures. Parking isn't always easy during busy days. Closer to water, there are alot of rocks instead of sand.
Great beach! Very clean lot's to explore ane see great park for kids and also a romantic place to go at night!
Haven’t been able to see this place at its best yet. First time i went it was still frozen. Second time i went it was flooded. Hope it gets better in summer.
Great place for a walk and watching the sunset
This is a wonderful park for strolling through, family gatherings and watching the sunset on the Ottawa river. It also connects to Mud Lake conservation area. So much to do!
Best beach on the west end. Just needed to avoid peak hrs To all patrons, please please keep the park clean. Pick up empty plastic bottles, garbages when you leave the premises
This beach was closed last year for some much needed beachfront work. I thought it was going to be better then ever once opened. You will definitely want to bring some water shoes as the sand and waterfront are full of rocks. It sucks! I am a 5 min. Walk away..so I will be back, with a giant bucket to clean the water of rocks so i dont split my foot open again.
If you are going on a weeknight where there might be a volleyball league playing, go early - the parking is ridiculously small. Even if there are two parking lots...There is a cool walk-out made of rocks that goes over the water - people fish there. Lots of room to play, swim, etc.
Place is huge, has as much grass as it does sand. Peppered with tall trees for some nicely shaded nap times.
A hidden and peaceful spot just minutes off the highway. Great for a getaway any time of the day. I especially love it early in the morning on a weekday when it's still very quiet and everyone is at work.
Beautiful spot, beautiful sunset. The Shack has great and yummy food options- i had the poutine and burger and it was great. The bathrooms could be better maintained or upgraded. That is my only complaint.
A wonderful park. Great day! The challenge is always parking. Especially accessible parking. Now there is the windsurfing company driving there vehicle down a busy walkway. A matter of safety within a very busy park. It should be done before and after hours, not mid day.
Love the beach found a nice spot to sit look at the sail boats and have a quiet read . The beach restaurant is quite good fast food. ????????????
As I've said in previous reviews, I'm really not much of a beach person and Ottawa due to constant E coli warnings and my personal dislike for sand but overall Britannia Beach is really enjoyable. There's real, indoor public washrooms, there are outdoor showers, on the concrete so that you can rinse yourself and your children off and stay clean once you're done at the beach. The Baha Burger Shack is absolutely delicious if you're there for a bite to eat. There's a fairly large playground, a large covered gazebo, lots of trees for shade and quite a few outdoor barbecues that people seem to enjoy using. The only thing with this beach is up parking can be quite tricky and there's not really any backup parking because it's tucked in away from any other possible parking areas
An amazing place to go and have a walk with friends. Feels nostalgic. The scenery is set in such a way that it looks magnificient. Cycling is another attraction of this park. At the end of the park, there is a connection to Montreal which makes it a magical park. Tha ambience is so good.
It is so nearby located. You can start walking across on between the woods and then discover this beauty just a little way across bayshore. The weekdays are isolated and weekends are quite busy. The place have chairs and a stone way to sit. The kids have a separate area for playing in river with a lifeguard present all time. It's a must to visit place to calm and to relax.
The best sunset of Ottawa
Great place to watch sunset or have a romantic stroll. Has entertainment on certain days and a beach. Facilities open during peek hours. Route 16 city bus service goes here.
I was to an Avon meeting here and the beach was lovely. There were far more other ethnic groups than white Caucasian, I thought I was in another country.
I was born and raised in Ottawa and I've come to appreciate the variety of beaches that we have here inour city. It's just a shame to know that there was so much pollution in the water that is often not available for swimming
Beautiful. I walk there every day and never tired of view.
nice park for the family. a relatively decent beach for people who are not as picky as myself, but it is mostly for walks and picnic outing near water .. I go there with the family often. Parking is always busy but we always find a spot.
Excellent place for enjoying holiday
What a beautiful place to spend a sunny afternoon. Bike paths, beaches, lots of benches, a wonderful ice cream shop nearby...
We had a lovely time. Everyone was social distancing. We had a picnic which My fabulous Daughter did up. I watched My Daughter and Granddaughter play badminton and volleyball together. It was a very pleasant few hours. They did a TicToc for posting. It was a fantastic time for Our Canada Day. The weather was beautiful also.
Nice place to relax and swim ????♂️ good for kids
We enjoyed it me.and my family My 16 month old baby girl had so much fun and she slept like an angel when we came back
Best Park/beach. Best time to visit is sunset. Advice: apply some cream to repel mosquitoes during late night.
The grassy area is nice but the beach is muddy and very shallow. There are a lot of mussel shells in the water, they're very sharp and my brother cut his feet on them. So be careful.
Awesome place to go. Its has good parking, barbeque ans nice place to sit and spend time
Beautiful beach! Had one of my children's birthdays here over the summer. Was about as good as it gets on count of the pandemic.
Gorgeous, lots of room for physical distancing! Plenty of trees for shade!
Cutest little beach! Volleyball, enough shade to have picnics and such, and plenty of space to explore. Only disappointment is the water quality; I would not recommend swimming.
I've come to this place since I was a kid and have always enjoyed every visit! One of the best places to visit in all of Ottawa. Beautiful view, lots to do, and always tones of people!! ????
Great place to take your kids to play on the beach and play structures. Parking close by and washrooms available.
Nice beach. But dogs not aloud, so that sucks.
Great park for the whole family. Grills set up. Volleyball and a great guarded beach. White water rafting in the spring.
Great place to spend a beautiful day outside but wish the bathrooms were available to use later in the season
Great place for weekend picnics! Decent beach but parking is limited and the structure is poor
Beautiful views. The sand is ok. I wouldn't swim in the water, but I've seen others doing it. Just look out for e coli warnings. There is a restaurant nearby called Baja Burger. It is great to have a bite with some beer while watching the water and other sights. Parking is free. There is a bus route into the beach centre. A bit away from the beach is the yacht club. Really cool place for photos, hence why a few weddings are there. The whole area is great for sunsets.
This place has two big parks beside the beach that makes it so popular because people can do many different things there like picnic, playground for kids, rollerblading, volleyball, swimming, sun tanning, walking along the beach or sitting on the rocks to watch sunset with your partner.
One of the best beaches around. A great mix of people, families enjoying the park. Only spoiled by people walking their dogs in the park (not allowed) especially the ignorant ones who don't pick up after their dogs.
Beautiful park. Loved it!
It's a nice place to walk, run , ride a bike or swim . Its specially suitable for family .
Nice fairly large beach and park on Ottawa river. Volleyball courts, beach space with lifeguards and a restaurant for quickly made yummy food for sit down or to take with you. Finding available parking spots can be impossible during busy times.
Great variety of areas for use and swimming. It was a little disconcerting that people went behind barriers for no good reason.
Great beach, not to crowded
Nice beach. At the time we were there, there were lots of brazen seagulls due to overhead wires being removed during flood. Hopefully summer 2020 will have overhead wires back up.
Nice to walk to the beach on the trail with the dog.
Amazing place! Try to arrive early in holidays, because generally is very busy! Don't forget your sunblock during the summer! :)
Brittania park and beach is a gem in Ottawa's numerous city run parks and beaches. It has amenities for children of all ages with a play area, volley ball, treed areas, National Capital Commission bike/walking paths that run from the west to east end of Ottawa. If planning to visit in season plan to arrive early as parking is at a premium.
Lots of space for family/group functions..bbq, picnic tables, play ground for kids, beach volleyball for adults and the baha burger shack for music, food and drinks.
Love the wind and kite surfers on a windy day. Unfortunately parking is limited and cars parking on grass are ticketed.
My favorite beach in Ottawa in terms of sand quality(for beach volleyball), water quality for swimming, and playgrounds, barbecues, large grass/park area, bathrooms, water fountains, etc for kids. Awesome for volleyball, sand doesn't seem now as deep and groomed as it was say 3 years ago but still okay.
This is a great place to catch Beautiful sunsets or watch amazing clouds before a storm...it's my go to place for sunsets in the City of Ottawa
Wonderful place to come and relax. Long walking-cycling trail that will give you a real taste of nature; a big-wide beach, with a rocky lookout and a bar & grill to grab a bite and fountain - overlooking the Ottawa River. Britannia is the Bomb!
This is a well maintained beach and park. We had a blast swimming and tossing the football around.
Its a nice park and pretty clean. I d like even more if they let you have your dog on a leash in it.
Amzing place, it must be the best place for sunset in Ottawa
Amazing park and beach. Lots of paths to walk, although it can get very, very busy. The beach and park are both very clean, lots of benches along the way to sit, and well maintained overall. Parking can be a bit tight. Get there early!
Wear something on your feet of going on the water. Clam cuts a plenty otherwise. Beautiful park. Popular with all cultures.
It's a very slow dying shopping center. future construction is going to turn it into condos with a small strip mall as I understood. It's a good nice place to visit now so you can say later I remember that. Will be so sorry to see it go.
This is the perfect spot to spend a day at the beach. The water is calm and clean, there are lots of green areas around, bike paths, burger shack, and ice cream shop within walking distance. Plenty of tress to hang a hammock and volleyball nets available to rent from the city. Pack a picnic or start a BBQ but keep in mind there are areas where dogs are not allowed.
Great beach and vibrant/active multi use areas. Parking was not sufficient even under low use of the area - can't imagine how bad it would be if the park was busy.
Lovely beach and well maintained
A very nice quiet place to walk through the bush along the Ottawa river. So many different birds to see.
Beach has volleyball nets to rent. Lots of grass area to set up close to the beach. Free dog run area, not closed. Play structure for kids and bathrooms available. Canteen open during season.
A great place to watch sunset.
Attended the all British car day and had a blast. Long lines at burger shack but service was very kind, and facilities were clean! Wonderful day!:)
This beach is great for a morning swim or an afternoon picnic, but even better for an evening relaxation session. It is generally quiet and very scenic with rock formations as well as beautiful greenery. The only thing I suggest would be to turn it into a bit more of a beach. Clear out some of the rocks and sift the sand a bit.
Beautiful beach except for the rocks before you get to the sand
Very nice long beach - changing / bathroom facilities, parking, lifeguard - highly recommend for families with kids
Great place to hang out with family or friends. Not a large park but good enough to enjoy your day.
This place is a hidden gem (at least it was to me). Beautiful decent sized beach on the Ottawa River. City website says the beach is closed but it was open for use when I was there mid-June.
Great beach, perfect for kids
It's a nice for sand and volleyball. Also there is some waking paths that are great!! Good spot to watch a sunset.
The water quality slightly exceeded limits. We allowed the children a brief wade followed by a shower. It was a bit confusing as no flag was flying and when the lifeguard announced tht the beach was open, he said nothing about the water quality.
This park is very convenient for people living in Westborogh and Kanata. People may enjoy sailing and swimming in the river. It is a nice place to get fresh air.
Beautiful sandy beach with lots of grassy Park land. Many mature trees to get shade when you need it and there are park benches pic nic tables and Hibachi BBQ's scattered throughout the park. Located on a bike trail that links to downtown ottawa and even the far reaches of Kanata. Lots of parking available.
Its ok here. I've been to a lot of beaches and I find this one gets pretty crowded and sand is also rocky. It does he job but there are way nicer beaches in Ottawa and surrounding areas if you are up for a drive.
