The park used to be nice, and although the grounds are pretty maintained it's a constant battle with the loitering homeless/addicted community. It's hard to have a nice picnic, or stroll about the memorials when theres someone passed out on this bench with a needle in their arm, and a drunk laying on that bench pushing off the side. Not family friendly unless theres a event, and most of the loitering people don't clear out; they just hang around bothering event goers for smokes, money or free food. Get it together Oshawa.

Reducing the ports pottys was terrible though, there was so much less garbage and junk when there was a decent amount of them, two is not enough given they're just about the only safe option for every homeless person downtown. The city's solutions usually make things worse instead of better though

I am mixed on this one. High marks on history, the reading materials on the memorials, the band shell and events, upkeep etc is great. However, there is an unpleseant element. Not so much the 'who', but the smells that can saturate an area 'used' by the 'who'. There are several who struggle through life that frequent the park, of which most will keep to themself, but some individuals can be loud, obnoxious, or have a dog that lacks manners/restraint. I feel for them, but Memorial Park is a place to honor our veterans and those we left behind. Beautifully designed and set up in the relatively small park, the monuments tell stories from increadible eras. The hisorical value is worth the stop and reads at least once since Oshawa was so vital in those times. With such concentration of homage on the small park, there is also an attraction to many Pokemon Go game players for the 7 or so Pokestops (historical landmarks) and 1 gym in the park and many more around it. Being that most players of the game are older, 20+, there is almost always the presence of several good people who can bring a balance of safety/security to the atmosphere. The variety of organized events that take place there, especially the musicals, are great. For as much traffic as this little park in downtown Oshawa receives, it is still in great condition.

Good place any time of year. You can walk, sit, eat, watch sunset or whatever you want. Long stretch of boardwalk along the beach, good for sport activities or relaxing walk. Nice restaurants.

I would've given the park 5 stars easy, BUT, I just can't stand or handle all the junkies, & drugs, (which the accessories are thrown everywhere & seen all over the lawn). There is security there most of the time that I see...so how is it this problem exists?!? Really sad...such a beautiful, breath taking park, if not for the problems ????

There are some amazing skate spots in this local park, however the city will hire security guards to corral local skateboarders out. The city should be supportive of this activity and should be working with local skateboarding talent as opposed to treating them like criminals

Every time I go to Memorial Park I read the poem Pass ye not this Stone while standing under the unknown soldier gazing down on me. The inlaid tiles from many countries who were allies in the great wars awaken my imagination. The DRPS and security have discouraged homeless ppl to move on with great success.. Good size park off Simcoe street. Best kept park in Oshawa. Has a classic band stand for shows and presentations. The cenotaph memorial is the perfect spot for remerance day services. And the built in chess board tables with chairs provide the chance to meet new people. In warmer weather the lion head fountain can be seen on across from E.A. Lovel school. Perfect for a picnic or reading a book. Or just chilling out. Many different things offered throughout the year.

This is regarded as Canada's longest pier. The entire area is a tourist's haven with loads of activities and experiences. There is a museum, several bars and restaurants. There's the park where kids can enjoy a splash from the water jets installed. I really had a fun time. Was able to walk just halfway down the pier but the view was fantastic. I do intend to come around on another visit.

The City did a phenomenal job of renovating this park! It's a lovely, open space with easy accessible access. There are alot of benches and stand-up "counters " that you can place your coffee or snack on while enjoying the ocean view in front of you. Kudos to the designer of this beautiful public space!

There's always something good going on here... Music, market, making a movie.....etc..... I would go on a nice hot day, the homeless shelter is nearby and a lot of drug users hang in this park. But I would make time to visit it at least once when no event is happening so you can read the plaques and thank our fallen soldiers.

It's a very nice place! specially in summer with . it's is sort of middle in the city so some time not too quite but you do get some good time if go early morning for walk.. A beautiful piece of land, and an important part of Oshawa. It has both community and historical importance. Unfortunately over the last few years it seems like respect has been lost. What once was a place for fun gatherings and events, a public meeting space to remember.. Has not turned into just a place for groups to just hang out. (literally) often times people can be seen sitting on mural walls, allowing their dogs to run on the clam shell.. or simply just leaving trash where they wish. We all deserve to have a place to enjoy, and I understand some have fewer options than others. It would just be real nice if we took care of the places that we did have available.

This beach is absolutely beautiful and lively. Great place to take kids during the day to enjoy the water and sunshine, and even greater place for couples to enjoy in the evenings. The pier is a great place to walk all the way down and back while enjoying the views all around. Lot's of great local restaurants to grab a bite, icecream places and little gift shops.The sunsets here never disappoint.

Always has a way to show a bit of cukture and diversity of our city. The downtown memorial site park compiles a full ww2 momorial to honor our veterans who insured we were free. A water park feturette thatll keep your kids happy and proactive with a elaborate drop fountain. A small sand park and structure. Full view of our ministry and police offices. Picnic tables to stop off at . houses trees a small gazebo benchs . comfortably beside the citys ymca and court district. A great place to stop by while waiting for the bus ride home or for the kids to burn some fuel. 420 friendly discreat.

This was a beautiful park in the center of Oshawa with lots of mature trees and plenty of seating and a band stand. The only negative we found was to listen to the music was impossible as it was a boiling hot day and the benches are metal, but other then that not a big issue.

Neat to check out if your near by, a small platform to see the inside of the cockpit would be cool. Otherwise I was nice to see an intact Canso plane, as the only other one I have ever seen crash landed in Tofino, British Columbia in 1945.

Hard luck dopers, 15 per picnic table..a person, or, two passed out in the music shell, outdoor auditorium..and this was just hours before Canada Day celebrations.. A most unsavoury park that appears to be granted lease to vice due to its immediate proximity to the men's and women's shelter as well as those who would find even those accommodations beyond their taste.. It remains an unfortunate legacy of downtown Oshawa that free license is granted to those whom choose to live otherwise, thus, holding hostage, to some degree the miniature downtown core, for such a wealthy, sprawling city as, Oshawa is, and has been, since it's inception. It is, however, equally encumbant upon this city and region to resolve to answer the ever-increasing homelessness issue. Given the extremes of our particular region during each season of the year, it is inhumane to simply turn a blind eye to people sleeping outside, whether it's minus 30, or, plus 30, or, anytime. There must be a solution of viable alternative.

Canada's longest pier. It's so long when standing at the end you can see as far as you look! I like to walk out to the end and look at the patchwork of houses on the White Rock bluff.

Memorial Park is a great place to meet and gather before walking on "Canada's Longest Pier" as the sign says. This park has benches, splash pad for kids, pristine green grass, new public washrooms and is all wheelchair accessible. Located beside the White Rock Promenade and Pier, this park has a large flat area used for the stage backdrop / stage setup for events and has theatre style concrete benches for viewing. Great Place, thanks City by the Sea .....

A very beautiful park which has a stage for performances, lots of benches which seem to be well maintained. Grass is kept clean as well for the shrubs. Garbage is taken regularly and the grounds are normally kept free of litter. A great place for pokemon go players as it has many poke stops and a gym in the center. Unfortunately the location being so close to down town leaves its surroundings to be displeasing. Only peaceful time is at late night. And not always the friendliest people here normally. But a huge crowd of pokemon go players loop this during events on pokemon go.

This is a small park, dedicated to the men and women who've lost their lives in the various wars of the 20th century. It's clean, and full of winding paths leading towards (or away from) the YMCA. It's quite nice for family play, or to sit quietly with a book, or even reflect upon what it means to die for your country. In all of these cases, it serves as an adequate setting.

We watch a very wonderful sunset on the beach. The place was really clean and there were some people swimming. However, if you want to take a walk on the pier, I strongly recommend to take a warm clothes with you because there is usually a sea breeze.
