REVIEWS OF Cedar Valley Conservation Area IN Oshawa

Carrie Becker

Nice trails for when you have time to explore but paths are not well marked. Some signs mark paths that are not maintained, making it easy to lose the trail and get lost

Monica Hickey

Everytime I come here the mosquitoes are thick & frightfully abundant...lol. Maybe its just me but you have been warned.

Angelo Garcia

Good nature trails!

Faisal Hafeez

Its nice place but not very well managed difficult go down to river its steep down.

Sam Sung

Yeah the amount of dogs people have in Oshawa it's ridiculous you people need to pick up your poo maybe I should come and poo in your backyards and see if you like that would you? some of you might.. Also the city should replace the map that's there which is completely dilapidated and parking should be extended but the blood suckers want to by law to enforce and make some money off of us there dirtbags

Beautiful Trail

What a gem! The terrain and landscape keeps changing through out the walk. Quite well maintained aswell. It was a shame to see litter near the parking area and in some places on the path. Its an awesome green area nestled between residential ones and should be taken care of.

Great spot nestled in the middle of a residential area. I took bike through the trails. I lost my sunglasses on May 23, 2021 at around 6-7PM. If you find them, do respond to this comment. Thanks!

Come here during any time of the year and you'll have a good time. There's a maintained park which has 1 main trail through it and a bench. That trail leads to 3 trails, one directly by the creak close to Simcoe St, one leading into the forest and then into the creek farther south, and one leading into the university. All three main trails converge at different places and have many smaller trails leading off. You can see salmon in the stream at different times of the year, cool trees, bunnies, a lot of trash, ducks and occasionally others.

Short trail but still fun. There are two options one is a short 0.3km and the other is 0.9km. Signaling is decent (albeit confusing at times) and trail is mostly clean.

Pretty impressive forest.

Dianne Marsh

Beautiful trail, well kept and lots to see. Amazing views of the water for a large portion of the walk.

Nancy Jane-Botwin

Great place to explore with the kids and walk the dogs! Just proceed with caution in some areas as there are obvious signs of teenagers partying; broken glass and garbage! No washroom facilities.

Nice little trail. Some of the trail markers need to replaced. Quiet. Limited parking. Not to difficult. One major hill which is quite step. by the creek at the end. But there are hand rails to help.

Colin

Awesome place to walk through the woods. Lot’s of people take their dogs here. A few cools spots to go tobogganing but are pretty dangerous. Still lots of fun but pretty steep and lots of things to crash into. Ask me how I know... we love coming here in the winger mostly as there are less people walking around. You might find some people “camping” back in some of these parts but I’ve never had any issues. Lots of great photo opportunities just a really fun place to explore any time of the year. Remember to stoop and scoop people!

This place didn't seem like much at first. But you have to go inwards, off the path and follow the river. We got to see what we thought were salmon and rainbow trout in the river. Not many people there too.

Nice place to get away from the city, while still being in the city! I didn't explore many of the trails, but the ones I did take made me feel lost in the forest. My dog loved it! Saw a few clearings with fire pits, so I guess people camp here. Not sure if its allowed, but they're there.

Being close to the university campus, this park tends to be a bit busier than others in the area. It has some beautiful trails that are great for a casual stroll and if you’re looking for adventure there are even some steeper sections. Although it’s surround by suburbs and commercial centers, and near the Oshawa airport this park has a few hidden gems that make it worth a visit.

J Brown

If you haven't walked here you are totally missing out! Lots of lovely forest trails - some more wild than others, but not too far from a neighbourhood much of the time. I like how it circled up behind the university for quick access (if we are ever allowed to go back in person!) I highly suggest using a mapping app or google maps your first few times through as there are many side trails in some sections.

JC C (Supetfly)

Little chipmunks are so cute and will eat nuts right out of your hand. The sign says don't feed the land creatures only the birds, but ingnore that. Also the little ducks are so cute and makes you just want to take one home (not recommended). Watch out for the Canadian geece they can sometimes be aggressive.

Charley Samuel

Olga

Wild, wild east. Oshawa Creek is awesome, salmon are on the way back to the cradle. Nice place to get closer with nature. Leave your fancy shoes and pants at home, you would need a waterproof hiking shoes, long sleeves shirt and mosquito repellent. Don't forget a bottle with water, otherwise you could try River water ????

Can we add bonus stars to this place ?? Plzzzz ..... well this is one of The best places to calm , to party , to trek , to have fun with kids(as it’s also an adventurous walk) and what not . This place left me with an Aawww . The people have built up benches , swings (2) , a place to bonfire ????, and a small place to sit under the shade .. called the Healing Lodge.the healing lodge is just a small area with a board on the outside which says please maintain cleanliness.. and people actually follow it. It’s always clean , has first aid box , has a notebook to write your experience and books to read. Can you believe all of this in a jungle adjacent to a flowing river . People within Oshawa or outside it .. do visit and maintain the cleanliness... it’s definitely worth it... highly recommended

Zara Charbonneau

Great little trail. Yes it could be marked better but that kind of added to the fun and you only ever got a little off trail, not seriously lost. Not stroller friendly and saw a decent amount of poison ivy but the pathways themselves are pretty clear so easy to avoid. A nice easy hike for the kids that didn't take too long. My 2 yr old managed pretty easily. No one was exhausted at the end of the loop.

This is a massive park with a lot of hidden gems. One of the best parks in the GTA area, and it's my favorite in Durham region. You can easily get lost, and there are many hidden trails. Some of the hiking trails are difficult and a little bit dangerous but always use the creek as your guide. Parking is free (we pay high taxes in Oshawa) but not many spots are available. Enjoy the hiking but stay safe, pick up after your dog, and respect your surrounding.
