This Park is included in the category of Park.
Had fun! Minus the cup does not have shower but the map shows otherwise. Part need to update their map as it was very misleading to campers. Otherwise it was a great experience!
Beautiful park for camping. Clean shoreline.
Worst ever staff, dirty park ever, I hope ontario park organizations will talk to all staff and educat them .

Very clean water and a nice view
The place was so beautiful, clean and has a play ground which helped us a lot .....
Very nice and clean campground. My time there was very enjoyable. Just make sure to get out before the other campers or else you might get stuck behind them while they wait to dump their trailers, as there is only 1 road for dumping and the exit.
Loved it
Lovely park with many well tree-shaded service sites. I was there Canada Day and the beach and park did not feel crowded. 4 stars though until they add more night visible trail markers. In the summer heat, I try to run before dawn. I got very lost on the trails. It took me 3 hours to do what should have been a 30 minute run.
Safe for kids in general, but rocks under water
Very clean
Visit on repeat, until next time.
One of the best camp sites I have ever been.
It was good. We had a great time. The campsites are big however they only have showers on the north side. The washrooms were clean. The place and staff are fantastic and the beach is wonderful.
Went camping here for a few days. Gorgeous park, very clean and lots of areas to swim. Our dog really enjoyed the pet exercise area and he went swimming by the docks.
(Translated) Beautiful place, enjoy a lot. (Original) Hermoso lugar, disfrute mucho.
Nice large sites. Nice beach and play structure for the kids. Really nice walking trail. We love this park!!
It's not our kind of camping but it is a nice campground
Nice little beach,
Perfect place to go with the family, safe for kids since the water is not deep.
Loved it, beautiful views!hg
The Staff are very Friendly, the sites North and South are ample and well designed.
Fantastic place for family time
Comfort stations in bad shape, half of the showers on North side camping site are out of order
Had an awesome time! Good park to come with friends and kids.
Great park! Just wish boat launch was a little deeper so didn't have to use public launch. But great launch for small fishing boats!
Well managed Campsite, were in the south side with no electricity yet preffer the North side with electrical outlets. Sand swimming area waist deep. Showers always have hot water. Start your fire early around seven to drive out the mosquitoes. Great nature hikes and nature enhances intimacy.
????
Beautiful park
Great campground, very spacious sites!
Very quiet this time of year. Great place to camp
Great atmosphere there
Nice campgrounds
It was a good place to spend a few hours in
I cant say enough great things about this lake and campground. I found this place this past summer and drove 1.5 hours to see it over 10 times during the summer. The lake water is always warm, clear and the little minnows are friendly. Staff keeps these grounds clean and safe
Good low budget park.
One of the most perfect camp grounds ever. Nice and big with grass. But the provincial park is rather small and there are better beaches than this. But not all the camp grounds there are good so pay attention to the pictures.
Great park, nice shady sites, should have power sites just for trailers only
Awesome location to campout. It also has a nice little sandy beach.
Great shallow beach area. Nice sites in the south campground.
Nice park with water all around and ok short beach but plenty of bird poop everywhere. Large playing field at main beach. Ok walking trail along the water out to the point. Close to Orillia if you forgot supplies.
Lots of great camping spots and not too busy most weeks. Weekends can be crowded and washroom facilities have line ups. Not many open shower areas available but that could be temporary?
It was really nice. Lots of areas to see the water and a great picnic beach. It might have been different if it were busier because the sites all seem really close together in the north section but it was good while we were there.
Great walking place
Great park
Great place for suburban camping. Not too much of a deep forest and close to a major town. Well worth it for families and kids. Beach Is great.
it is quite a nice Provincial Park. There are washroom. The beach is quite nice, but there are too many geese and seagulls. they make the grass area a bit dirty. There isn't much sand area. The water is okay and wavy. It is a good place for day trip. There's a playground but because of covid-19 is closed. Picnic tables and benches are there to used too.
Early spring camping can be a bit wet but the park is nearly empty at that time of year, so peace and quiet is amplified. Bathrooms are very well cleaned and the boat launch out onto Simcoe offers some great boating and fishing. However, if you've never been out on Simcoe before WATCH THE WEATHER. The lake can be unforgiving if the wind is up and storms can spring up quickly and pack a wallop! McPhee Bay, on the north side of McRae Point adjacent to the park offers a great sheltered Anchorage and much calmer waters. As for the campground itself, the pump out station is before the main gate, and the sites themselves are a bit less spacious than other parks but still nicely treed and situated close to bathrooms and showers. The closest stores are either in Brechin or Orillia. If towing a camper the intersection at hwy 12 and Muley Point Road to get into the park area has lights and allows wide turns. Inside the park there should be no problem maneuvering (ours is 32 feet rear to tongue). All in a nice quiet park with a nice beach.
A quiet community just outside the gate of McRae provincial park, Joyland Beach has been my home for 24 years. I raised my kids and grandkids here
We went to McRae Point for the first time today. While the water was beautiful, the amount of bird poop from the geese is like nothing I've ever seen! It's all over the grass. No matter where you walk it's literally everywhere. They need to rake the grass daily! It's insane how much there is
Very nice small park.Campsites are a little tight, not much privacy. I liked the ones around the outside perimeter as then you are facing the woods with you RV behind you it gives you more privacy. Lovely walking paths out to the points giving access to Lake Simcoe. This is a recreational park dont expect a secluded woodland feel.
Awesome park! Extremely well maintained and quiet. Only one trail but has a great beach. Highly recommended.
Nice place for a family picnic as long as you don't have dogs
This spot is amazing. Warm and really crystal clear water. Good for fishing and canoeing.
Nice park, only 15 minutes to do a free tour to see if you want to stay the day vs 1 hour at most other parks.
Amazing place. We got a good location, close to the washrooms, close to the lake, big place and we had a really good experience! We will be back
Kids love it. Provincial park chargedmore than $10 for a day use.
Nice beach
This small peninsula on Lake Simcoe is an ideal summer playground for swimming, boating and fishing. A drumlin on the south side is topped with hardwood forest and drains into swamp and wetlands. Explore the Water’s Edge Trail and discover yellow-throat vireos and rattlesnake fern. Book your campsite early to ensure a spot, or come for a day visit and enjoy the park.
Excellent park close to home.
Large sites
Most of the people that camp here have zero etiquette for others. They are obnoxiously loud late into the night and let their kids run and play hide and go seek in other peoples campsites at 9pm. The park staff don't seem to concerned with this as there was no one letting the other campers know to keep it down. The sites seem nice but have zero privacy.
Nice place for a casual day trip. Bring bug spray!
(Translated) Magnificent campsite. Unfortunately several lots were flooded (summer 2017) and closed. Given the rainy temperature, we were bothered by a quantity of mosquitoes ... Otherwise, a potentially interesting choice in good weather.
We spent a very pleasant few hours, armed with a picnic, at McRae's lovely beach area. The long beach is clean and has ample tables on the parkland land. Large trees give you shade on the really hot days too. Very family friendly. Shallow waters for young and older alike. Rocks at the perimeter are a really tricky, so water shoes/sandals would be recommended. Campsites are large and airy (close to the beach) with more seclusion available at the smaller campsites. Lovely park.
Beautiful lake Simcoe
Beautiful smaller park. Very nice view of the lake and lots of trees around. Relatively clean. There is a small fee to get in and it has a washroom. If you bring your own equipment you can do bbq. Could be slightly better maintained. Overall great place to spend half a day or a day relatively close to GTA.
Love it here great park beautiful place to be
We went for day use. Excellent beach. Great water, and bbq is allowed. They are well spaced during Covid due to which it gets full by 10 am on a good day. Over all we had an amazing time and will definitely go again!
Beautiful
Good place to go with family. Make sure to keep insect repellent!!
Was able to get there around 830 but still the park ranger advised that the Park is full. There must be a way to book it online or something we drove there for more than two hours. Had to wake up small children from their sleep and all that was for nothing.
The staff are incredible and friendly. The park has great swimming spots with a sandy non-weedy bottom and a nice walking trail with lots of trees. It is surrounded on 3 sides by Lake Simcoe and is large enough to explore without being too big or busy. The lots on the perimeter provide the most privacy but the others are pretty big as well and most have trees.
Deer Campground. Nice wilderness feel. very wide lots. Privacy is low but easily blocked by placing a tent and car in the right spot. Beach area is full of duck poop. Short 10-15 minutes drive to Town for burgers, sushi, ice cream, everything.
(Translated) Very beautiful park, the water is beautiful and the bottom is quite sandy. (Original) Très beau parc, l'eau est belle et le fond est assez sablonneux.
I really enjoyed staying at this park! Many places to access the water. Beach has nice shallow and warm water. Most campsites are large and well maintained although quite a few are sloped. Bathrooms are quite "rustic" and could use some updating.
Friendly staff!
Very calm and clear water.
Great park. Never super busy. Nice trails and beach.
Nice well kept sites. The staff was super nice and very helpful. Will definitely be back.
Not sure how closing the women's showers is a COVID precaution, but at least there were available unisex individual showers. The lake is beautiful, not much on the grounds for hiking though. Sites seemed properly maintained.
We go here for 10+ years because it is conveniently located, and have a good scenery and lake. But nothing changed in park features and amenities for long time - limited washrooms and showers, bad driveways, some lots need to be re-sod(due to heavy use), hydro hook-ups placed in remote spots, fire pits located under trees and rusted off. Speed limits have no enforcement, some people drive about twice and more from 20k/h and nobody cares. People drive opposite directions on one way roads-no enforcement. So you have to keep your kids under strict and direct supervision all time. Place tend to be overcrowded on weekends due to accessibility, including day use areas.
Needs some intense work done! The "comfort station" is a three stall bathroom with two sinks. Nothing more than you'd expect from any other outdoor washroom. Most lots need to be fixed up, ours had a constant slope down to the water, and there was an obvious ditch where people had parked their cars. The fire pits are directly below trees, so not safe, and are heavily rusted. So bring your own metal rack and just use that instead. The water was really nice, outside of the beach area there are a lot of rocks, so be careful. The hiking trail is essentially just a calm walking trail all the way around the campsite. Overall, like it's a pretty place, but the amenities just aren't there. Oh, and if you go there with just a tent and there's lightning, too bad so sad. They do not care and question why you want to leave when there's a very real threat to your life
Was a great spot for a hike.
Quiet park. Warm water. Nice bike trails. Mix of camp sites so something for everyone. Check for slopes though when booking. Some sites require extra extension cords. Great relaxing place. Close to Orillia if you need anything.
Great park with awesome beach for summer. We camped there few times and also visited for day use.
Amazing place to camp! Clear water and a somewhat quiet campground.
Camped this past weekend. Really nice park. Staff are very friendly!
It's a great location. Really beautiful. The downside is the lack of showers and bathrooms. The trip to the bathroom is far. There is no store on site to carry things like a lighter or water. But there is a water tap available at the bathroom. Ice can be purchased as well as ice cream and firewood.
Interesting little beach. Bad spot for fishing.
Weather was great today, but McRae point fishing wasn't the greatest ????
South campsites are more private
Clean and well maintained
Campsites and the Beach is very clean but the washrooms need more attention, probably a complete renovation
Great beach and camp sites. Good owners. Shower stalls are clean.
Nice to go with kids. Lots of space - both under shady trees and in open space - for relaxing and for sports. Good playground. Roomy parking.
Nice park, but the site was pretty sloped. Hard to level the trailer, and our tongue Jack actually slid off the block after a storm. Quiet park and pet friendly too. Would go again… just not to the same site.
Great staff, low key and great pet friendly beaches.
Not crowded ... Nice beach and short trail.
Beautiful park Staff were friendly Washrooms were average Bike trial and walking trials were nice. Beach was nice ( Sunday it was takin over by day use pass holders, the group of about 50 people were nasty, dirty and didn't respect the beach. Dirty diaper floating on the shoreline, even watch their kids roll a full watermelon in the water and leave it there.) Showers had no hot water everytime we went for a shower.
Beautiful all year round
Very nice camp sites ever, so grassy with nice beach . I really recommend this park to anyone.
Very clean beach. Well maintained picnic area .
It’s a small beach but nice. If you like to be somewhere quiet, don’t go there. Even in Covid, it was packed.
Nice park, but suffering from the wet weather this year. A bumper crop of mosquitoes!
Spectacular Provincial Park! Facilities are great, the lake is awesome
Very aggressive campers and ignorant staff. Hostile situation.
not much to do
There are a lot of shells in the sand, a bit uncomfortable without shoes. Also water smelled with something like fish or so.
Very good camping site. I loved the beach area. And don't miss the sunset!
Very relaxing place. Walk distance from the lake. The showers were clean and had warm water.
Loved it there! Great location for outdoor fun!
Beautiful beach, crystal clear water, nice facilities
Lots of waterfront with good campsites around every corner
Was great till we had to leave Sunday evening because of the flooding from the rain ???? we paid till Monday but no choice but leave..
I come here every year and its always a fantastic experience. The staff on hand was helpful and fun to talk to. The site is kept really clean. ^_^
Very nice family oriented campground. Large campsites and very quiet even with all the kids running around. Very good staff also.
Great Park, swimming in beautiful clear water. Sites very spacious
Quiet place. The day v visited was the first day the park was opened for campers. Not much people were at the park. water was shallow. Clean n serene. Dog friendly n also dog has be on leash at all times
Great beach, large sites with shade. Beach is all sand and shallow for a long way out; perfect for kids. Adults can swim out past the buoy for deeper water.
Relatively clean with the grass and trees extending almost all the way to the beach
Great park!
What a great place to camp out. Great staff. Warm water. And very little mosquitoes in July and Sept.
Clean, quiet, cool trails. No store and no boat rentals though.
Very good park, it's to be there with kids as the is very shallow far out at the beach. The site was spacious and well kept and the sanitary facilities clean.
Great place to hike around and enjoy the weathet
Nice low endurance trail around the park. Pretty views!
The park does not seem to be maintained very well. Garbage was all around the campsite attracting racoons the entire stay. I ended up leaving a day early. Beach strip is very small, be wary of potentially busy days. Park seems more of one for fishing and boating rather than camping.
Maintenance need to improve alot, it's a very nice place for all age groups especially kids. Don't forget to bring your mosquito repellent
Great for family camping with beach access.
Park is closed. But you want miss much compare to Ontario Provincial Park. Gate is closed . Trails are small.
Nice place
ok place
Love it
Quite and small park, not that crowded. Beach is not far from camping sites. Must visit there once
Walkable park, nice hikes along the water, clear water at a clean beach front, with large, well kept campsites. Will definitely be back!
I have been going there for 50 years!
Very nice and very very well kept
Good beach and a great hiking spot.
Nice park. Beach is only sandy at the waterline, otherwise grassy for the most part. They have a boat launch too. Walking the trail is nice, especially when you get to the point. Not as nice and big as Mara Provincial Park, but still nice. Less crowded too because of it. Canada Geese are a bit of a problem, but not overrun with poop and feathers.
Small Park but very well kept, staff are friendly and helpful. Bathrooms and showers are very clean for our off-peak visit. Pull throughs have large sites but not much privacy. There is one trail running the perimeter of the park and along the water.
Just an hour drive from Toronto, amazing location!
Visited with family as a Day User on May 31, 2014. Liked the overall experience. Pros: Beach, Opportunity of swimming in lake, children swings and volleyball/badminton (bring your ball/racket), BBQ. Cons: Too many mosquitoes, (Also no life guards).
Great hidden gem of a beach for day trips - clean water and sandy beach
First solo (tent) camping trip with my pup over 2x nights. Check in upon arrival was easy, friendly and clear. Site was large and clean (South campground/electrical access), washrooms were impeccable (I witnessed a team cleaning them at least 3x per day and it wasn't very busy). Firewood and Kindling was dry and lit easily; June is ripe with hungry mosquitos so come prepared! Only complaint was the massive population of Canadian Geese = A LOT of poop and slick beach/play area. Not sure much can be done about that though. Overall had a fantastic time and all the neighbours were friendly and respectful.
Nice and close to the city but far enough to be away from the crowds. Water is shallow and warm but there is so much geese poop on the grass. Campsite was good. Close to the washroom and tap. Nice small hiking trails that are good for the kids.
Water is not clean.
Loved this park. Campsites are huge (RV area is not very well spaced out and not very private, but usually the way in parks and we weren't in an RV so didn't affect us! Lol). Trail system is amazing. All either lead to water or washroom. Water is easily accessible by all sites. Covid protocol in place and ran smoothly. Two people in bathroom at once and masks on. The rule was very much respected and people waited outside if two people were already in. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, despite the whomping of rain we got, on and off. Still had a blast. Beautiful park. NOTE: bring tarps for covering main areas so you can still cook through rain. Put garbage away at night, the raccoons are not afraid of anything! Bring water shoes as there are leeches and zebra mussels and they will hurt if you step on one! You won't regret your stay, lovely area.
BEAUTIFUL
Very good for camping
Fantastic park. Great beach area. The trail around the park is nice. Fun day hiking, biking and enjoying the beach.
This park is great, very family friendly and good for young kids as it is a very open park. Been here twice and loved both times ????
Beautiful spot perfect for a weekend. Clean and well managed.
Beautiful
Nice view :3
Amazing water. The staff is also very nice
Ii t was ok!
Nice beach, big campsites somewhat clean showers, trails are not properly identified and no shower facilities on the south side of the campsite.
Expect rude park staff constantly walking into your site and harassing you for this and that. Minor things no other park would ever make a issue out of. Patrolling park staff were literally more annoying than the mosquitoes. Ruined the whole experience.
Beautiful
Nice little park with shallow sandy beach, an easy trail near the water and some secluded coves. Very limited shower facility (only 1 in the North camp site). South camp site doesn’t have power supply; but each site is surrounded by trees and shrubs, so it is much better in terms of quietness and privacy.
wonderfully kept, respectful rules, a hidden treasure in the trees and the beaches are wonderful
Water level low, unable to launch the boat
Amazing park Great beach for everyone. Clearest water I've ever seen
Very clean, sandy beach, best for families and kids, no dogs or drinking allowed, clean water and nice for bar b que
Great place for camping! Almost no mosquitoes and had pretty clean bathrooms. Staff were also great!
Awesome place to hangout with friends and family. The entry fees is just $15 which worth paying. Nice and clean beach.
Good park nice and clean and on simcoe
Nice area and good for camping
Nice park, lots of trees for shade. Water is lake simcoe
Excellent place for relax and camping.
The beach is dirty and there is poop all over the beach this will be my first and last visit
Great camping site
Awesome sand beach, not as over crowded as the other PPs on Lake Simecoe.
A little slice of heaven
Peaceful and quiet
Great park. Loved it!
Beautiful beach, beautiful waterfront spots to have picnics, lovey people, gorgeous big trees, really cute camping lots! This place is one of my favourite provincial parks. Highly recommended!!
Wonderful, perfect for a family with kids .
Hidden gem in Orillia. Excellent for day trip and family picnic. Lots of picnic bench available and sandy beach area is excellent for kids. Shallow water goes long way.
It was a great hike hope to do it again in the spring
Big sites. Shallow beach, and not a big trek between the 2.
We have camped here numerous times. Love the pull through sites. Park is clean and well maintained.
Great area. Lovely beach with lots of picnic trails. Recommend going there
Great beach with shallow water and a sandy bottom. Right now the strip of beach is only about 3 to 4' wide due to high water. Nothing else to do in the park aside from thr beach and a very short 1km trail.
I'll be back. Nice big sites. Easy access to beach. Friendly staff.
Great staff awesome sites and trails good boat launch and a fantastic park and beach area with play set.
I came here an there was a tornado, and it was heavily raining, but that just made the experience better. The water is very warm and the ground in the water is very smooth and nice to walk on.
Good small camping place. Not the best
What a great place for camping swimming, boating, relaxing and biking. I'll be back!
Amazing for family and kids
Our site was absolutely horrible. But somewhat my fault for only trusting the picture (that looked nothing like the site). Othetwise great campsite!
great sites.. large and grassy. beach was good... a little rocky, water was clear and crisp which was refreshing during those 30+ temp days. only complaint... no hot water at the showers (not the norm we were told - some kind of problem I assume) oterwise great time. 3 families w kids 8-13.
One of my favorite places to camp.
Very nice
Long picnic area with lots of tables and plenty if shady spots. Sandy beach is clean and lengthy. Nice play structure, close to beach area. Very lovely place for family picnic. Washrooms are clean and easy accessible.
Water is rocky in many places and is not very deep. You have to out of the boundaries if you want anything more than waist level water. I guess for younger children this is good.
Clean environment. Grassy sites. Large swimming area. Convenient city access.
Camping
Number 1 provincial campground in my top 10!!!
Clean water lots of picnic table and good washrooms
Good camp site, however it would be better if the camp sites had little more privacy. Overall good experience...
Excellent fall colors, trails, camping, sunset.... superb place for picnic as well as camping with family
Really nice park. They only allow 6 people on a site and they considered my 2 year old niece as a full person so we had to pay for a second site, which felt like a cash grab. Really no reason for the rule to be as such especially with little kids. We like the lake access here because it's not deep for quite a distance and is a great place for kids to play in the water.
Very nice and clean camping and beach grounds. We were able to cook our own food on the beach.
Nice quiet park with treed sites.
Great place sites are a little bumpy trying to set up camper but when set up it was all worth it. Definitely a good place to go.
Love McRae. The size of the sites are nice and big. Quiet while we were there midweek.
Small park, the beach is large but lots of birds and their droppings
There's a limit on the number of people per campsite in Ontario due to pandemic rules and even when booking a campsite you're not able to have more than 6 per site. No one cares here. There's multiple families per campsite and the warden driving around in his pickup is just collecting his paycheck while a party of 12 goes on with 3 very obvious cars indicating the park violation. There's no privacy so don't get fooled by what their site says about the level of privacy here; you can spit over to next campsite and hear their whispers and other air secretions. At least the bathrooms are clean and the people who work on them are wonderful.
Park is good beach was ok ,but major problem was mosquitoes ,flies and all sort of insects make sure make sure there is enough repellent ,Wash room was clean.if u travelling with kids make sure u have enough to protect you nithing was around.
Small but great place to camp.
Great place to get away. We use to go to bass lake, but this beach is awesome, big beach area and less people.
Beautiful place for camping, swimming & relaxing! We live locally & had an awesome time!
Nice park. Easy sites to pull through. Nice beach/park area. But a Camp Store would be convenient.
Best places for camping
Beautiful spot. Lots of places to swim. Water is crystal clear. Colse to stores.
Site should have been closed as it was wetter than it at first appeared, and was a mud pit by the end of the weekend. We had to move after our first night as it wasnt posted clearly that the sites marked were for one night only, nor were any marked for the whole weekend although there were some available. Staff was unable to figure out how to register on the new site even though our cash for 4 days was in their hand. We were told on 3 separate occasions that they wouldn't charge us for the first night and the staff member would be around to our site with our returned cash....never showed....not even to tell us they had no intention of actually honoring their statement. They rang through the 3 nights at the new site for $4 less per night but when questioned had no idea why that would be because the higher rate was correct. When we inquired further up the chain the staff suddenly couldn't remember saying this and the management responded with the staff members academic degree level although I am not sure how that is relevant (maybe I should have counteracted with mine). Will not stay there again and will not recommend.
I liked it but the beach had to much dog droppings
Love walking this place in any season, really nice walking path along the south coast of the peninsula. Camping is also nice here.
Pretty bad park. Red ants have taken over the ground and attacked our little dog severely. So be careful. Raccoons are there in numbers and openly approach sites while people are out. Zero fear and will basically take the food off your bbq. Do not leave anything unattended after 6pm. Our camp site was lined with trash. I had to stop a worker and he came back with a bucket and claw arm and removed 2 buckets of trash from around our site. No pre site checks clearly. On our last day the park blew there internal power grid and was hydroless from then on. Unsure of when it returned. Limited bathroom locations. And dud to no hydro they closed the main bathrooms and showers and only left the vaults open which are not friendly nor clean looking. The boat launch was the worst thing I have ever seen. 0 protection from simcoes big waves. No docks to tie to. 2 15ft docks throughout the whole park which are only about in about 1 ft water and can not be fished from you will snag. The pet play area is an over grown forest with a small short trail going through which I was more worried about ticks then letting my dog play. All and all. This park is by far the worst I have ever been too.
Nice clean park. Small shallow sandy beach, lots of shells for kids to collect. Bathrooms and showers are kept clean.
Fun
A good park for day trip and camping
I love this park however, I think they should hire a new maintenance team or put the ones that are here..to work. The grass is overgrown about 12" or more in most of the sites and the trails as well. This has made a great haven for mosquitoes. For those who are staying a couple of weeks, imagine what their sites will look like in a few more days. I would imagine this far into June, the park would have had the spring cleaned up by now. Get out those lawnmowers guys
Too many red ants. Weather was humid, but obviously not the park's fault. Washrooms were clean, but a lot of the sites in our area were heavily slanted. Luckily it didn't rain
nice park low privacy
Day use full
Great sunsets, big sites, nice little beach. A great trail. Would be 5 stars if the set up was a little different related to washroom access. No direct access without walking through camp sites which many did often rather than walk along the roadway which takes you around the sites. A pathway through the middle would resolve this issue.
Small bay , shallow water, a bit cold, seagull share the same grass field enjoying sunshine with you.
They did not explain the rules and very rude. It is not recommended if you want to enjoy your day in a nice place. A group of staff who are not happy about your happiness. They lie and they dont listen to what you say. Choose another spot.
Flat, muddy parking lot of a campground that needs serious updating. The best thing is it's proximity to Orillia, which has an enjoyable downtown.
One of my fav camping spots!
Nice park with a beach. Kind of crowded in summer.
Great spot, good sized sites and clean. Water was perfect, Sandy beach , nice walking trails along waterfront. Will go back.
Was a good weekend with the kids and friends...
Average park - most beautiful campsites ever ... can get very close to water with your own path down. Clean facilities, friendly staff. Mosquitoes were a major issue - probably better to come here in fall. No easy spots for shore fishing, no sandy beach, showers only in north end and wish there was a camp store. Would bring bikes next time and just come in the fall!
Great place for a relaxing camping trip. The beach is a bit rocky but once you pass the rocks the water is awesome. Very family friendly park. Great for folks who want to active. There is a large field for frizzbe or volleyball catch etc. There is a perfect spot to see the sunset. Really magical highly recommend and will be returning!
Very nice small park, everything is close ( beach, washroom, garbage collection ect) . Clean and organized, but very open campground so have to be super quiet. With big family is not easy to manage that.
Beautiful spot for a hike
Lovely place and view, water was not too cold
Spacious campsites, nice walking trails and beach!
Excellent camp sites. South camp site has more private area. Beach is also crowded with day users. Trails are short but well maintained. Over all good experience.
Mixed bag at this park. Beach has lots of grass and resident birds to eat it, but not much sand. They groom the sand but it's still a mess after a full park of visitors. The water was warm and it's shallow for a long way out. Pretty clear, no weeds, but a bit rocky. The sites are either very nice and private or very much not. The trailer areas have nicer and newer washroom facilities than the tent camping areas. Some sites are very heavily sloped. A lot of the sites have trails leading to comfort stations or the loop trail around the park. The walk to the comfort station on the trails might be a tad slippy in bad weather due to them bring grass and often sloped. There are non beach lake access points frequently around the loop trail. Water taps are only found at the comfort stations. The park is convenient in that everything is quite close together, even at the farthest away sites the beach/gatehouse is only a short walk. The dump station almost always had a line up. The dog park is separate from the regular beach but isn't very large. It's also shared with the boat launch and dock. More than a couple large dogs at once starts to get crowded. There's not a lot else nearby the park but it's not a far drive to other parks or into orillia. It's certainly an easy place to camp, nice views from the beach. It really depends on the weather and your chosen site.
McCrae at the top of lake Simcoe is similar to Sibbald Point at the bottom of lake Simcoe. Great family camping with lots of places for kids to run off and play. The beach is nice with sandy parts to swim and rocky parts to explore. Zebra mussels dominate the rocky places so water shoes/ crocs are a must. The map shows half the camp is treed w no power and the other half is powered RV sites with little tree cover. Because of the open space there is more RV camp sites than non powered tent/treed sites. The tent centered side has lots of large lots so RV s are intermingled with us tent campers. The walking trail does run along property lines of neighboring houses as they use all available space they can. but all in all it's a great campground for a quick getaway. I don't mind raving about this park because it's great and everyone knows it. The really great parks I don't talk about for fear of it getting too busy.
Quite park during the week with lots of available site. On weekends it's sold out
Just need a basketball court for the teenagers. We had to ask people to slow down while driving through the park as they were driving fast. Perhaps lots of speed limit signs need to be up. People should be driving very slow.
Great place to camp and hike.
The beach is not as expected.
Pricing for a two hrs visit is the same as a day pass not expected
Good place for camping
Would be even more pleasant if the dumping station had access separate from water station to create less traffic when people coming to camp are filling up and the campers who are leaving to dump there waste Double lane to go around the fresh water would work perfectly
Great
Nice site backing onto the lake, but lack of patrol, Large Group of 20s partying until 2am no one to shut them down! Plus Spread your Covid love kids!????
Nice place to spend your weekend
We stayed here for 2 nights, our group really enjoyed it. - staff was friendly and helpful - Lot of mosquitoes so be prepared - showers are only on the north campgrounds - firewood was $7.50 and ice was $3.50 per bag
Clean but didn'see the park wardens much.
We day used the park and it was jammed with people. Nice beach good swimming and a fair bit of shade to sit in
Great place! Only trouble? You can't get in! It's booked far in advance, as all the parks seem to be.
Really enjoy our time here. Love the beach!
The wife and I went here for our anniversary weekend. We took a couple walks around the camp and found it well maintained. Sites are open so you don't have alot of privacy in the north campground. Alot of sites in the south campground were more private but not hydro serviced. We will go back to Mc Rae Provencal Park again.
Peaceful
Not that great. Tons of geese and loons on beach. Full of poop everywhere. Go to Maya Park which is much nicer.
Very nice for families
Great park, love the trails thru and around the park. Awesome views from shore. Clear water but water shoes come in handy.
Nice beach, warm water. Big well maintained lots.
Loved it! Facilities could be better, they are dated and could use a face lift. Lake is spectacular, clear water, well kept beach, clean, great trails. Staff is great! Highly recommend.
Let this place take your breath away. If you're looking for a place where time moves differently, a place that seems far away from..well the city madness. Easy to lose track of time here. Don't forget to keep the space clean for others!
Excellent areas for bird watching with a good variety of different species. Watch for indigo buntings, American redstarts and large population of Northern flickers. Walk the water's edge trail if you want to spot shorebirds and fowl!
Great place. Clean and lots are very spacious. Comfort areas are very clean. This our second visit here. We will be back again and again.
Great campground, all areas are grass, and the Southern Campsites are all very spacious and private. Very close to Orillia, which has a wonderful waterfront and a great bike trail, along the harbour.
Great staff Nice quiet park
Sites are close to all amenities, nice kid friendly beach.
Looks lovely and spacious
Great park. Some really nice sites. Great swimming.
Sites are big and have large trees for shade but are wide open without shrubs in between so there's no privacy at all. Bathrooms were not very clean and the one women's bathroom had no soap dispenser on the wall. Had some campers continuously walk through our site as a short cut. Also watched an entire family bathe, (brush teeth maybe) spit into and wash containers at the potable water station even after being told that wasn't acceptable. One good thing was the beach looked pretty good.
Loved the path along the shore
Very surprised at how nice this park is. The beach is just the perfect size and the grounds crew do a wonderful job maintaining the place. Just like the old days....seems they take pride in making it look great. More than I can say for some other spots in Algonquin parks.
Great place to go for car type of camping! Showers and washrooms are pretty clean, some camp sites have electricity. the only downside - lots of seagulls, geese near the beach area
Lots of trails
Easy hiking. A sandy beach. Family friendly.
Awesome Provincial Park in a great area. Lots to do and see in the area. Park is fairly open, but is all around water. Staff are great.
Really good place to stay with the family
It has a nice looking shallow each. It is Calm and warm good for the kids and adults.
Amazing, bring a boat if you want to go fishing. The kids had a blast, will definitely be going back.
Did not like it the campsites are too open with no trees, felt like Im camping in a regular public park. No privacy at all everyone sees what your doing at all times. There are far better places to go for REAL up north camping experiences.
Clean, shallow and lots of trees around!
Stayed at the park this week, was at campsite 101. Spacious site with good privacy, the drainage was an issue, it rained 2/3 days. The fire ants and mosquitoes were pretty bad when I was there, but overall a pretty good time!
You can't park anywhere on the park property and go for a walk without paying a parking fee. (daily fee). It's ridiculous! !!!!!!!
This place could be a less known one, but definitely worth visiting
Not my first, second or third choice to camp but majority of the camp grounds were all booked up. I prefer more privacy, bushes and trees. Better suited for trailers than campers sleeping in tents. Close proximity to each site. Just for context: one can see what each of the neighbours were up to and what they are having for dinner. Plus side: hot showers and clean washrooms but there can be a line up in the morning and evening. Dog beach wasn’t gated but still plenty of room for running and swimming.
Nice park. If it rains most sites are going to have water. Will go again
site was unsuitable for trailer. entire sight was sloped with no where flat to oark
Very nice park my only complaint is some sites have too much slant and I had trouble getting my pop up trailer in there easily because of the slant or slope but beautiful park
Clean, well maintained park ..nice and peaceful in September
Well kept park. Clean facilities. Bewildered why so many sites were empty when the website says nothing reservable was available.
Theyre doing such a great job to ensure safe cleaning and keeping the garbage low aft the camp grounds. Staff is safe in their hut and still coming out to help when needed! Had a great visit!
Great park big sites loved it
Love camping here, dog beach, trails, cute towns near by great place to stay
Staff treated my 75 year old grandmother poorly
Great park
Family friendly lots of space
So beautiful and quiet beach. With a long walking trail, playground for children and clean area.
Great place. The beach is a bit small but the water is warm. I highly recommend it.
Awesome park!
Nice size park with a nice sandy beach.
Not bad
Beautiful beaches
Super
Fist time taking my little ones camping on July 6th -8th. Washrooms were very clean for a provincial park, staff are friendly and it’s not overly busy! Only down fall is the beach, no much sand area for the little ones to enjoy.
Nice, clean and quiet park. Water is drinkable and sites are decent. Not all have privacy though. North side has zero privacy. Would still go back though.
It rained the whole day
Beautiful place.
Very nice park.our site is large and a drive thru.very well treed and close to the water.would come back again....its on our favorites list ..!
One of the best camp grounds in Ontario. Clean, friendly and very safe. During the night there are patrols to ensure safety of all campers and reduce any noise or misbehavior. In terms of facilities, they have access to electric sites, non electric sites, showers, sand beaches, very clean and maintained washrooms. Been going every year for the past 10 years.
Very good park with lot of trees. They have camping sites as well. There is a parking fee of 15$. It wasnt too busy for a long weekend in August 2019. Only issue is there is no Shower option after coming out of Lake water. They clean washrooms every 2 hours. Overall it is a very nice place.
Clean and beautiful beach!!
I can only comment on the boat launch. We didn't use the other park services. It desperately needs to be dredged. Barely deep enough to launch a jet ski and at that we had two people push it off the trailer. Also the jagged rocks just feet away on both sides are a hazard.
We enjoyed camping in this place.
Awesome place small beach with good views !
Beautifull place
It's a great clean and quiet Park Fishing swimming bring your boat or canoe we were there 6 days and always had something to do It was the first time there but I'll go back many more times the sites are also huge there so big that's what gives you your privacy
very clean.
Clean washrooms, clean water for swimming, and nice grass area for picnic
Great place to spend a quiet day.
Went camping for the labour day long weekend had a great time with family and friends..the campsite lots where big and clean..nice walking trails the water was warm if you wanted to go swimming..the rates were very reasonable..would definitely recommended this place as a good place to take family camping..all the campers showed respect as to noise volumes at night and early mornings..for sure gunna go back again
Tiny park with a beach and some campsites. If you are thinking of driving an hour, or two, or three, to get here for anything other than camping, don't bother. You can cover the entirety of the park on foot in half an hour, trails are trivially short, the beach is alright but nothing to write home about. I got here after hours and the main gates were closed, so I parked outside the gates. Can't imagine the disappointment if I had to pay for parking. This might be a good place for camping, but from what I have seen, the campsites are pretty much out in the open with zero privacy. Really not a fan of that.
Beautiful campsite! Conveniently located.
Trying out new to us trailer. Park was nice and the young lady I dealt with for the first few days was polite and efficient - very nice young lady. However when I went back to remove the trailer from the spot I was told if I didn't get out in 30 min I would be charged for a full day. I explained my son was handicapped and could not do anything to help but to her it made no difference. I paid the $14, rushed around and managed to get out in just under 30 min. Was not pleased with this treatment. Staff the previous day said just check in at the gate and explain circumstances and it would be good - not so. Ruined what could have been a perfect trial run.
Amazing picnic point for your friends and family. Great place to spend time while enjoy swimming in shallow and clean water.
Excellent camping and clean facilities:)
Great park with an extensive beach area, good amounts of sun and shade Free day use Monday - Thursday, which is great!
(Translated) Very nice campsite and smiling staff (Original) Très beau camping et personnels souriants
nice place just 0 privacy
Having a blast
Unbelievable! Our friends got in, reserved a place for us, but they closed the gate and didn't let us join them.
There were a lot of mosquitoes when we went in late August - so come prepared. We went solely to see the sunset, so if that is your reason for visit as well - go to the west end on the beach, past the tree line - there is no path but you can see people just walking through the narrow tree lines
Very nice and clean park, well maintained. Many spots with perfect view for fall colors.
Very nice campground
Boat launch is too shallow to launch any reasonable size boat.
Nice provincial park
it is a execellent park nice beach
Went to this beach with my kids because im known to it from past experiences and them having a play ground makes it enjoyable for thr kids, i drove an hour and ten minutes from Toronto to get there for the day use, wheb i went to pay for the park I was literally short 5 cents and they wouldn’t let me in unless i paid the 5 cents!!!! My kids where anxious to get to the park, they where tired from the drive and still they had no heart and where just ignorant in not letting someone get it unless 5 cents was paid, I even told them I would be there for the day and once I unloaded my stuff I would search my car for the 5 cents and drive back to bring it as I always have fallen change in the car but nope in order to get through 5 cents had to be paid!!!! Super annoying, worst customer experience playground or no I wont be coming back here
Not much of a sandy area at this park so if that's what you're looking for this place isn't it. I camped here..overall good experience. Also a lot of poop from animals on the grass. Wear shoes!
Perfect, clean
Beautiful views and great wildlife
Great park! Very clean friendly staff. Will definitely be back!
Best family time yet
Very nice place to camp
Very nice park but too many red ants.
Very nice to spend time with your kids!@
It was okay. Sites were very close together and the red ants were out of control at our site
Saturday Oct 21 2021 we traveled here to go for a trail walk and the park was closed.
It's a nice area but the bugs are absolutely unbearable. By 10pm on our first night we looked at our camper and the whole wall was black from little bugs. Also the beach was covered in geese poop and seagull poop. There were 50 to a hundred of each. But once you go a out 200ft out from the land it's actually nice. But the water does not get deep for a good distance. Overall I'm not coming back
During the pandemic winter we booked whatever we could find. We thought we had a power site but didn't. I brought my Sousvide and was disappointed I had no power. Audrey and Co. were extremely kind and allowed me to use the front office power to prepare my steak. They were all "over the top" accommodating. That dinner made the trip. Thank you.
great place... come back every few weeks
Nice small park with excellent staff. One side of the park has lots of mature trees with lower limbs removed to accommodate travel trailers and larger 5th wheel units. Site privacy is less than average but everything is within a two minute walk. The other side of the park is half hydro and half no-hydro sites. Site privacy is much better with three sides enclosing you with larger shrubs and mature trees. Lots of green throughout but plenty of wet sites with all the rain they've had this season. The beach is nice but with high water levels this season, there is less sand available to stretch out on. Sunset is a perfect time to view Ontario's incredible sky with colours here that can challenge anything on Lake Huron. Again, staff are really excellent at accommodating your needs with a genuine smile. I would give 4.5 stars if possible; only losing a half point due to limited washroom facilities. Shout outs to Maddie, Jade and Mack for making us feel so welcome!! :-)
It was a beautiful location surrounded by water. Would greatly recommend to anyone. Showers were wheelchair accessible and the bathrooms were well maintained.
Great place to relax, and have fun. We have been coming camping here for years, the staff are amazing and friendly. Clean, well taken care of.
Lovely little camp ground, big spaces but not a lot of tree coverage between spots so you won't get much privacy unless on outside sites. The beach is lovely and you can walk out without it getting deep.
Nice and clean. Best if you bring a trailer. Bit loud due to number of dogs on the park. Sites are very opened, its not surrounded by trees or anything.
So tranquil and nice beach
Nice small park, Lake Simcoe is great
(Translated) Comfort station not ideal (Original) Confort station not ideal
Love McRae, holds a lot of great nostalgia for me. Came for a walk and to find the boardwalk/wooden platform through the hiking trail but they've had to tear it down, really wish they could have found a way to repair and restore but I imagine that would have to be funded at the provincial level and I'm sure that wasn't seen as a priority. Great camping spots and really well cared for park
Nice beach and park
Great for Day use. Beach very close to parking. Nice sandy beach. The trail along the beach had lovely spots you could get into the water, if you wanted a private spot away from the beach crowd. Washrooms were clean. Lots of space to have enough social distancing.
As we entered into the park, we first thought that this park would be like a small neighbourhood park with lots of camping sites. We were wrong. To our surprise, the park offers many features and is legimate. Day use area is on the beach at the tip of the point with a washroom and a small playground. The serviced camping ground is well separated from the quiet non-serviced sites. Hiking trails are the best here. The trails run along the shore line very close to the wavy water surounding the park. They are flat, not too long, and pretty easy for most people. Excellent day trip place for a family picnic and hiking.
The non power side is where to go the power side of the camp ground is all open every looks jamed in there no trees the non power side is awesome water is nice had fun with the kids
Love the sandy beach and water gets really warm. The only negative thing about it is too many geese so everything is covered in geese excrement!
Small but very beautiful and clean.
A great park! Very clean! Through the week it was quiet. Wish there were more showers - only one that I'm aware of.(not available for use right now anyway)
Quiet, peaceful park, well maintained. Not a lot to do and everything is a 20 min drive into Orillia. beach was really rocky, bit great swimming. Cell signal is also very poor, especially the closer to the water you are.
Perfect place for summer
very nice beach for kids, very shallow and quiet. a lot of picnic tables available.
Sites are a nice size but there is barely any privacy in most of them
We did not enjoy our stay at McRae PP. It was not clean, staff were unfriendly, only one comfort station has showers and only one comfort station had a baby change table. I was told that they could not afford baby change tables. The beach was under water, totally out of their control so we had to use the grass area in the day use area. The grass was full of goose poop everywhere. The only reason I give 2 stars is because of location.
Great place to let your dog swim. Watch out for waves during high winds.
This park is kept clean and has an amazing beach area. The beach is huge and we really like this park, but we will not return again. Took one star off for only having one RV station, and on the way in it took us 55 minutes to dump and fill. Since then we have seen even longer lines, so when leaving , try to leave before noon. Our telus signal is really bad here, and on a cloudy day we were unable to use our wifi. Some people might say you are comping, time to disconnect, but we are full timers and rely on our wifi for shopping, banking, research, youtube, social media connections, amazon prime and other forms of entertainment, all online. So minus another star for the poor wifi signal strength. We are also in a mud pit, just be warned some sites will turn into wetlands if there is a lot of rain.
Big sites but that's about it. Beach is average, hiking trails are short, and very little privacy between sites
Really hot friendly staff clean grounds and nice shady site #7 north campground every thing was good
Nice campgrounds not far from Toronto close to Aurelia
beautifull place for family and bbq ???? and sweet dreams sunset
Love it here!!
Damp firewood bought first night made the worst fire ever but the camp is nice with a variety of sites and lots of water access around the camp.
Nice beach
Loved it
Beautiful, I recommend going during weekdays campsites are less crowed, lovely beach
Too many mosquitoes?? You do realize that you're outside right?
Off season means that it's nice and not crowdy. Until the next weekend of June 24th the office is opened only till 3.45PM Sunday to Thursday and till 9.00 PM on Friday and Saturday. We came just after 9PM but the guard was really nice and sold us wood. This park is rather for seniors, and quiet families. Young and laud groups usually do not like it. The picnic area is nice but a bit dirty because of the geese. Not guarded. Overall really nice.
Great camp site. Day use area has nice beach. Not too far from parking lot. Electricity on most sites. Washrooms clean and close.
Water is clear and very shallow which is good for kids. 150m down and still water is just 5ft deep. The beach front is quiet small. Lots of bird feature in grassy area.
One of the best
I am very glad I found this park, very quiet and relaxing! I was looking for a place to kayak and hike - this place had both! In terms of kayaking - I would 100% return to this location. The water is extremely beautiful and clean, you can even swim in it. In terms of hiking - this is where they lost one star because of how small the trail is. It is very kid friendly but not for young adults looking for uphill, more adventure. Also, i know it’s mosquito season but it was really bad on the hike. No amount of bug spray would help. *Parking is free on weekdays*
Scenery just magic
Brings lots of insect repellent!
Nice and clean park..people really friendly. They have some nice trails to walk along side the water. Great if you have dogs that need long walks. All sits have a fire pit with a grill. Camping bathrooms where clean and there where enough. Day use site is not as clean, people just don't care. That's the people not the parks fault. The only thing that was a bummer and the reason I chose this park was for the boat ramp. The ramp was not long enough for my boat and I had to go out the park to launch it. If you have something around the 14' boat you should be ok to launch anything over that not so much.
Great place to camp. Nice scenery and beach for swimming.
Worst park. Nothing but s party park. Rules being broken, people yelling and loud music. Not a place for family.
Have loads of fun here
Great park.
