We have the information of people like you who consume the products of Restoule Provincial Park (Park) near Ontario (Canada).
At the present the firm has a rating of 4.6 out of 5 and this score is based on 127 reviews.
As you can see the average of ratings is virtually the top, and it's founded on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may be quite sure that the assessment is quite reliable. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they've done well, it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to put feddbacks when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Park corresponds to the category of State park.
Hidden gem in Ontario . Super nice provincial park. Friendly staff and clean washroom will be back again.
Amazing camp ground. Very family friendly. Beautiful place to hike and nature watching.
Nice place for Camping. We enjoyed it.. it has good beaches, fishing spots and trails. We stayed in bell points camp ground.
Nice little hike to the tower. The Lake view is magnificent!
Great little park. It has a dog friendly camping area and a radio free area. It also has a lovely beach. The hiking trails are not to hard and the fire tower hike is good experience. It's an easy to moderate hike depending on the way you go. With access to 3 big lakes there is plenty to do. You can rent bicycles, kayaks and Canoe's to explore. The washrooms and showers are clean, but they need to replace a few shower heads! And they have laundry machines. Depending on the season, the bugs can be pretty bad! So bring a screened tent! It's in the bush away from any highways and noise and it's located 10 minutes from the wee village of Restoule that has everything you need in a fantastic general store and fabulous small town market/ butcher. Great fishing! In my experience at Restoule, the staff have always been super friendly and very helpful. This provincial park is a hidden gem!
The least private sites we've ever stayed at. Super noisy on the weekends. Heavy motorboat traffic on the lake and private cottages across. Most sites aren't very level, some neighbours were flooding. Roads are narrow and sites are small for large trailers. Comfort station kept pretty clean. Staff is friendly. Store has nothing so you have to go to Gerry's General. Fire Tower Trail is the only one worth doing, and the "right" side of the trail would be considered pretty intense for non-hikers.
The activities that are available are top notch. Unfortunately the park lots are pretty small and close together so there is less privicy
This park is amazing. We had a great experience at the park. The Fire Tower Trail was epic. Canoe experience, biking and hiking with fun-filled camping. The visit was a wholesome memorable experience.
What a nice place to visit. This park was exceptionally clean and well looked after. Everyday we saw maintenance crews cleaning up sites and cleaning the facilities. The best activity was the hiking. We really enjoyed the fire tower hike which was not too difficult and surprisingly mosquito free. When you do this hike you can choose how difficult you want it to be. Going counter clockwise makes a gradual climb up to the top, while the opposite makes a pretty steep climb near the end. Our only disappointment was that you can't actually climb the tower. However, a short 3 minute hike farther is a breathtaking view looking out over Smokey Lake.
Beautiful place! We love the area. Fire tower hike would be moderate for non-hikers.
Lots of good facilities, but lost a star for missing carts at the walkin sites where we were originally booked (unknowingly). Also, the hot water was out at one of the comfort stations. Rental canoes were good, and trails were great! Staff at the office were very helpful in getting us moved to other campsites.
We really enjoyed our walk in site by the water. It wasn't the most private site lacking in bush cover. Condering we spent very little time on the site and we had pleasant, respectful neighbors it was fine. The trails and kayaking were beautiful. But recommed putting your kayak in by the day use area to avoid alot of lake paddling before you get to see the bluffs.
Beautiful park in the great wilderness of northern Ontario. Stopped for the day to walk a few trails, really worth it.
Nice, tidy campsites with clean beaches. Great hiking: Stormy Lake Bluff/Firetower trail is a good casual stroll, or, depending on ability and initiative, a great aggressive hike where you can challenge yourself to set a PB! We were privy to be educated at an astronomy show/lesson with powerful telescopes on the main beach while we were there. Park Warden patrols were right switched on! - ensuring all belligerents weren't carrying on, whether on the beach or "too loud too late" at their campsites. As a family friendly oriented provincial park, we appreciated this - thanks, Wardens!
Excellent environment. Access is fantastic. Choose the lot properly based on your needs (RV, car camping, access to washrooms etc). Some campsites have electrical access. Many helpful people around like the couple we met from North Bay who helped us light fire and dropped off kindling wood, or the one who lent us their axe and gave small wood to start fire ... Safe place for kids to run and bike around .... Bring your food stuff with you because the nearest store is 10-15 minutes drive (and it is far).
We camped here during the Canada Day long weekend in July. This place is a heaven for Kayak enthusiasts. Beautiful water ways to explore. Stormy Lake in particular is calm, beautiful and expansive. The beaches at this park are okayish at the same time, as they are borderline medium in size and it felt crowded (though I know Canada Day weekend is time where one expects crowd to pour in). We also felt that the campsites at this park were comparatively smaller then the other park sites and I say this because we just like previous times we took two cars and didn't have enough space to park both at the camp site. We had to literally squeeze them in together. From a hiking perspective, the Fire Tower hike is a must-do at this park. Overall, a great park to camp and kayak and star gaze at night.
I have travelled to restoule provincial park several times. The park is nice and tranquil, beautiful lakes to canoe on and a nice beach. The majority of the sites are private and large. you have a good chance of seeing some wildlife including deer, bear, fox, porcupine, and if you're really lucky a moose. The drawbacks to the park are there are no real towns in the area. If you're hoping to do some sight-seeing on a rainy day you will have to drive quite a distance.
Nice large campsites, hiking trails and great places to kayak. One of my favourite parks.
Awesome dog beach and exercise area, ours had a blast. Some of the campsites are nice but there is not an over-abundance of privacy - a bit close for my liking. But the people were friendly and it was peaceful and quiet. There are a lot of boating and hiking excursions to take advantage of but I can't vouch for those as we spent most of our time on the campsite, at the dog beach or walking the dogs.
Restoule was a terrific park! Weather was not on our side, but we'll definitely go again some day
Love this place and have spent this summer (2021) camping here. Although the season started a bit late due to COVID we have still had great adventures. The canoe/kayak/SUP rental is available. The hikes have excellent views (see the bluffs/hike to Stormy Lake). We’ve canoed into site 51 and spent a week there. Stay and enjoy!
We couldn't ask for a better first camping experience. This is a gorgeous park, with friendly staff, 3 awesome beaches, amazing hiking trails and beautiful treed sites. And it was so quiet. Thank you! We will be back!
Beautiful park! Great for kayaking around. Check out the bike trails also!
Beautiful park. Trails well marked. Fire Tower trail has a gorgeous view! Camp sites are very well spaced and lots of room to lounge. Beautiful beaches and great places to canoe if you're a novice. The customer service is also some of the best I've received, really nice park attendants and rangers!
Have trailer set up at the park until after Thanksgiving live close and always enjoy camping here
Beautiful in the Fall! Lots to do, biking, hiking and paddling. Well maintained.
Beautiful park! Well kept trails, clean sites and friendly staff made our camping experience a memorable one.
Just went there for civic holiday weekend. A group of U students did campfire with laugh and talk so loud in the middle of night. To be exact until 3am. Good that I saw camp warden came by in the early in the morning and gave them warning. The whole campsite was good. Good trails and good boat launch area. The only bad thing was the out house. Can they upgrade their out house?
First time visitor. Wonderful park, close to home (less than 2 hrs away), incredible mature forests, huge campsites, friendly staff, amazing lakes and beaches, tons of walking and biking trails, scenic views around every corner. Love this place.
Great location and the walk-in sites are very nice and quite on their own peninsula. Worth the walk.
Beautiful campgrounds clean bathrooms. Place so you can do laundry . Great hiking routines.
We had a beautiful paddle in site on Stormy Lake. It was clean and well kept. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We thought the foam board on the thunder box seat was an unexpected luxury lol.
Beautiful park with both front country and back country sites. Front country campers have access to a beautiful lake and a river! We went backcountry along the Restoule River and were surprised to find we didn't need to hang out food, per usual... They have locking steel boxes at each site! Very convenient and well located. We'll be back!
One of my favourite provincial parks in Ontario. Sadly though, this visit was somewhat less enjoyable than in past seasons. Perhaps it was the poor campsite I had to settle for. I'm certain the increased popularity due to all the great reviews has something to do with that.
I stayed with my family May 24 long weekend and we had a great time :) The camp sites are a decent size and most are quite private. The showers and bathrooms were well maintained. We can't wait until the next time we can return!
First rate provincial park. With great dog beach. Lots of hikes. Multiple lakes to access. Very Algonquin-esque
Beautiful park, very nicely maintained with lots of nice trails to walk on, vistas to see, and calm rivers to explore!
Awesome Park!!! Staff very conscientious. Facilities very clean. Unfortunately staff also having to picking up garbage that others have dropped. Roads could use calcium chloride to reduce dust.
I've been around to alot of parks and this one I'll definately be coming back to. Staff are great and very helpful when it came to renting canoes ($50 a day btw) The trails were pretty easy so if you are a beginner this is a good place to start. There is pleanty of great lookout spots on the trails and a bunch of arrows so you don't loose your way. All and all great park and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice relaxing camping trip. I'll be posting plenty of photos of this campground along with other Ontario camp grounds for those interested on my Instagram : @dont_snooze
Beautiful, quiet park with nice campsites, friendly staff and great trails. Worth the extra mileage if you're heading up from the Toronto area.
Beautiful park and hiking. Stayed with our dogs and was a nice time.
Awesome campground...very clean showers and washrooms...super picturesque...had a blast...#site444
Great campground. Amazing views, large campsites, clean bathrooms. And lots to see and do . Didnt catch any fish this time, but will be back to try again!
I really loved Restoule in many ways. It's very beautiful. My one mistake was going on a long weekend. This is the first provincial park I've visited where the noise was out of control (radios, loud voices, laughing and whooping until 2:30am in the morning in the 'quiet' area) even after 2 calls to the park warden. Once the long weekend rowdies cleared out, it was pristine. Saw 3 deer, a bear, 2 snakes, heard loons, owls and frogs. Lookout is great. Small village nearby is nice for ice cream and a meal out.
Beautiful campsite with all the facilities.
Perfect place for my dog, kayaking, hiking and fishing. Lots of big bass! Dog beach is nice and clean. Love this park.
Very beautiful park, good trails and good for canoeing. Only negative is the noisy campers.
Came up here for the first time on July 12th for two nights and this will certainly not be the last time. The park area, the lakeshore and everything about this place is absolutely beautiful, or maybe it's just that Canadian natural beauty? The drive up from Brampton, ON was quick and painless as we left early enough to avoid the Highway 400 northbound Friday rush. As we approach the park we were greeted with a "Entering Bear Country" so for us suburbanites this was reminder of where we're going and we made sure to follow all the suggestions to avoid bears. The check-in was very easy, they provided us with pamphlets on what precautions to take to ensure that we’re not attracting bears. The office has firewood and ice as well as souvenirs, books, etc, and this is where you come to rent a mountain bike, canoe, kayak, etc. This park was absolutely stunning with its majestic trees within its lush green forests. We stayed at a site #443 which was less than a 5 minute walk to the beach via the path. It was relatively quiet in terms of car traffic as there is no need to drive all the way there unless your site is located there. The washroom by our campsite was clean but has no running water so it goes right into a septic tank (or whatever is underneath those toilets) but they do have sanitizer to wash your hands. A short 10 minute walk away there is an actual was washroom structure with personal showers, proper toilets and sinks, and laundry (if you’re there for more than a few nights). We only had time to do the firetower trail which is about 8km roundtrip but the views from the mountaintop is absolutely breathtaking and worth the wait! We saw a few deer but luckily no bears.
Gorgeous, breathtaking views of the river and lake. Clean , pristine water and easy access along the trail for swimming .
Restoule is a refreshing park to visit. I love the view overlooking Stormy Bay. One of my fav hikes! Avoid may/june due to bugs. I cant wait to visit again in the fall tho. They have kayak and canor rentals and also bikes and fishing equipment. Lots to do at this park!! Great for the family and the sites are quite private and pretty. Will go again.
Sites are nice. Fire Tower trail is a must hike for the views; the other trails are short with nothing spectacular. Lots of canoeing opportunities on the large lakes, but the first-come-first-serve system for rentals can be frustrating. The lakes also have considerable motorboat traffic which should be considered if you're looking for quiet canoe/kayak routes. Not the best or cleanest restrooms (vault toilets near the sites) I've expereinced, but the comfort station facilities are well maintained. It was a great spot for a couple of days.
Beautiful park! Restoule and Stormy Lake were absolutely beautiful. No successful fishing in Stormy Lake (July) but we caught a few in Restoule. The washrooms were clean and the showers (from what I remember) were cleaned three times a day by park staff. The sites were nice and quiet. The beach was nice; very shallow within the buoys but be careful out past them as there is a sudden drop about 10-15 feet after. There is a volleyball net set up on the beach. The bugs here weren’t too bad actually. The only time we were attacked was in the water at the beach.
Beautiful place..amazing lakes and shores.. Enjoy...keep it clean.,respect the nature...!!
Great Camp! Lots of fun things to do! Beautiful Lake and Nature Trails! I would recommend driving around to see campsites before you pick one. Our Campsite was supposed to be full sun, but was definitely not.
TL;DR: Restoule Provincial Park is a below-average provincial park with below-average amenities, average privacy, terrible campers, good hiking trails, good paddling routes, and a below-average waterway. My trip to Restoule Provincial Park was made by car with four campers on campsite 291 at the Putt's Point campground. Campground & Campsite: Campsite 291 and many others in the Putt's and Kettle Point campgrounds are mediocre campgrounds. The pictures on the official reservation site are not up to date and do not reflect the current state of the campgrounds. The campsites are sandy, uneven, and often on a slope, the effects of which are compounded in the rain when the sand washes away. Each campsite had two picnic tables, which is more than the lone table typical to campsites in other provincial parks. The lots were of average size, and proximity to each other, and the trees were sparse enough to provide clear views to other campsites. Campsite 291 was the most private campsite observed in Putt's Point, with other campsites having much worse privacy. Washrooms and Water Access: The washrooms at Restoule seem to be an odd mix of different types. Extremely smelly compost toilets with no running water or hand sanitizer were found at the busiest locations (void of sanitizing utilities for my entire stay), while spacious toilets with running water were found at the less-frequented entrance to the group camping sites and trail-heads. The main comfort station in Putt's Point with full plumbing and sewage was at a reasonable location and only a short walk from campsite 291. The water taps are placed at good locations, but none had a gravel or rock base below the tap, resulting in very muddy and dirty ground surrounding each tap. Campers: Restoule Provincial Park seems to be a popular destination for individuals local to northern Ontario. The majority of the individuals on the campground on both weekdays and weekends were drunk or high, ill-mannered, ran loud generators 24/7, and behaved loudly and inconsiderately well into the night. Amenities: The campground office ran out of firewood to sell, requiring a drive into town to purchase firewood. Canoes, Kayaks, and SUPs were available to rent at the campground office, although they were physically stored quite a ways away from the office (down by the dock in Putt's Point). PFDs and lifejackets are not available to rent. Hiking and Paddling Trails: Restoule PP's campground is very conveniently situated in close proximity to multiple hiking and paddling trails. I traversed the "Restoule River Run" up until the portage point, as well as the Fire Tower Trail. Both were extremely enjoyable, with the latter's "Stormy Lake Lookout" offering beautiful views of the lake and surrounding forest. The Fire Tower Trail was moderately technical and is not recommended for those not confident in uneven and rough terrain. Lake and Waterway: Restoule Lake and the waterway connecting to Stormy Lake are surrounded by many cottages in addition to the provincial park. This resulted in high traffic that made paddling more difficult, in addition to ruining the natural atmosphere of the water and land. Speedboats, jet skis, and other watercraft frequently passed by at high speeds in the course of my excursion on the water.
What I did like was how quiet the park was. The camp sites are a decent size too. What I didn't like was being covered in catapillar poop. If we knew there was an infestation we would have prepared differently. Almost all the poplar trees were like the image below.
My family and I always come here every year and every year that we come, it's always a great time! The park is clean, the scenery is beautiful and the staff here are helpful with everything!! Definitely a must go with families!
Wonderful place to bring your family and meet others.
Awesome. We'll definitely be back.
Great camping! Multiple small boat launches. Clean facilities. Awesome trails.
We had such a tremendous time here. It is beautiful and peaceful. Can’t wait to go back again. Minus the mosquitoes!????
Fire tower trail is amazing must do. Kettle campground sites are not so private.
Lots to do here for everyone- hiking, kayaking and canoeing, mountain bike trails, excellent sandy beaches and warm water that's great for little kids in a knee-deep roped off swimming area. Boating in the lake with fishing is also possible, opposite shore is dotted with cottages with docks so it's not super remote. Cell service is LTE+ (I know there's lots of people who care about this even when camping!). Showers and bathroom facilities are modern, clean, close by. Could use more water faucets and more electrical sites. The gatehouse only sells ice and wood- be sure to bring anything you need, the closest store is 5km away (Gerry's).
It was amazing! The sites are big and the hiking trails so beautiful. Highly recommended.
The most amazing provincial park with less crowd and amazing customer service. Kayaking, biking, hiking, star gazing you name it - it's all there. Would be making this as part of our yearly trip for sure.
Love the park!! There is so much to do, water activities, beautiful hiking, amazing view of the lake.
Great park overall. Awesome beaches, great trails for bikes and walking. Do note comfort centers are close by, seperate washrooms are close by, which by the way, doesn't dank as much as you think. Cleaned quite often I would say. Would def come back.
It was quiet when we went mid week, we even scored a spot on the beach with a last minute booking! Paddling stormy lake and clear lake was beautiful in the fall (September 23-26, 2020) and sunsets over restoule lake were spectacular!
Nice Provincial Park. Large camping, few trails. Lots of water.
We spent 3 nights there and had a great time. Some info on the paper and signage needs to be updated to reflect the current state of some sites and trails. We attempted one of their many bike trails but it was too over grown and a few downed trees crossing it's path in many places. Was still a beautiful hike, just not suitable for a bike.
Super nice park. The walking trails are absolutely beautiful. Very clean park. Lots to do with or without kids. The staff is also friendly!
I go camping every year and I must say these are more spacious campsites compared to what I've seen before. The park is gorgeous, but the beaches are a let down - quite small, no depth, and murky. Nevertheless, the water is so calming (if you're able to handle mosquitos). Keep in mind also that hwy 11 is the only way north to access it from Toronto region and its absolutely packed and crawling on long weekends. Definitely would recommend for the strong willed
Nice place especially for family camping but the sewage stink is overwhelming. Make sure you pick a spot not close to washrooms..
We had dealings with a lovely young lady named Gabby. She was extremely helpful. Thanks for a great weekend. See you again in a few weeks.
Beautiful park. Great beach and good hiking and biking trails. Park staff are great.
Great spot ... Bit rainy when we went but highly recommend the fire tower trail (2hrs)
Campsites are spacious but private. The grounds are great for pitching a tent and sleeping on.
Nice park, great sites. Lots of trails.
Took about 4 hours from Toronto on Friday started at 11am. A Beautiful place, great for canoe, kayak. Although it says That it is great for fishing, We couldn't find a fish in three days, neither people We met there. The park is very clean, very very few mosquitos compare to killarney and Grundy lake parks.
I love this place. Always clean. Always quiet. Great canoeing, fishing and hiking. A bit out of the way but we'll worth it.
Excellent park. Well maintained and clean. Spent three nights at this park and enjoyed our stay. The fire tower along with smaller hikes are great hiking trails. The canoe routes are great. Spent at least 05 hours canoeing with my son doing the various routes and up to the dam and back. Its around 50 bucks for 24 hours and 100 dollar refundable deposit. There are also bicycles for hire and the beach is great. The swimming area is around four feet deep. Water was really warm in the end of August . Met some wonderful kind campers who helped us out with change to do our laundry. Comfort stations are clean and showers are a great relaxation. Thank you to all staff at Restoule for an excellent vacation. Will certainly be back next year.
Beautiful campgrounds. Wonderful clear starry sky at night
Such a beautiful park in the fall. Even better during the week when no one is around. A real treasure
Restoule is an Provincial Park. If you are looking for a nice, quiet park, this one is worth taking a look at. I have camped there many times over the years
Amazing provincial park. My favorite one so far. Stunning views from the bluffs.
Amazing for kayaking. Nice sites Fire tower trail is one of the best trails iv ever been to
Great park to camp at. Staff was helpful and friendly. My only complaints are that some vault toilets are extra stinky and the park wood is wet.
Great hiking and biking trails, nice beach, small campsites, some very sloped, but had a great week.
Excellent campsites ,well spaced. Decent beach and swimming. Canoes and paddleboards available to rent. Very smelly outhouses.
My first camping experience and couldn't have asked for a better spot. It was a 3 star living out in the woods. You had all the amenities including restrooms and showers, canoe, kayak and bike rentals and fire pit. And oh yes there is phone reception so that bumps the score! The drive to the place was also breathtaking.
Great park, beautiful vistas. Beach is great for kids, shallow and sandy before the bouys. Comfort station and vault toilets are very well maintained. Fun place for kayaking and canoeing. Just be careful choosing your sites, as some are in between roads and not private. Camp store a little lacking. Beautiful park in general, can't wait to come back!
Such a beautiful park. The campground we were in had an amazing swimming beach. They're was also beautiful hiking nearby. We loved it. Couldn't have asked for more.
Small beach areas. Not the nicest but still refreshing . Not the best for swimming but good for kids. Rocky , squishy sand ... fussy kids should wear water shoes. There are showers at this campground however you cannot chose the temperature. They are boiling hot ! Flushing toilets available as well. However the comfort stations can get shut down during power outages. There are alot of rules since its a provincial park. We were recieving noise complaints by 10pm on a long weekend. You are not allowed to burn any trees from the ground etc. The sites are pretty close to eachother resulting in lack of privacy. Dont regret going but probably wont be back
Great park! Lots of hiking, great trails with various degrees of difficulty. Amazing views from the Tower trail but could be difficult for beginners. Sites were small but spread apart from neighbors and the dog beach was great for my lab!
Really nice place off the path. It's a nice as silent lake but with out the traffic.
Love this beautiful park. So much to do from the water to the trails. Need at least a week to experience this kind of beauty.
Great park, great beach, putts point sites are big, private and well maintained. Would (and probably will ) go again!
Loved Restoule! The campsites weren't very private but were a good size with the standard fire pit and 2 picnic benches. The bathrooms were cleaned regularly and showers had hot water, laundry is also available. We rented a 2 person kayak from the main office, it was super convenient for rental and returns though they don't have many available so get there early! Restoule kept us busy with 2 beautiful lakes to explore and multiple hiking/biking trails that had incredible lookout points. The stars were absolutely incredible at night - 100% would recommend this provincial park!
One of the best provincial parks to camp on within Ontario. This was our second visit to the camp and the services provided are commendable. The park staff followed all the required COVID-19 guidelines. The washrooms and shower stations were also well maintained along with regular cleaning intervals.
Beautiful park, clean campsites with lots of privacy. Shallow beaches. Would come back again.
