REVIEWS OF MacGregor Point Provincial Park IN Ontario

Adrian Wolf

My new favourite Provincial Park. There are lots of well maintained hiking trails that are all easily accessible from various areas of the park. Multiple beaches - some gravel, some rocky, but most are beautifully sandy and seem to slope gradually out deeper. Many spits jut out and protect the beaches from high waves. Some nice boardwalks to walk along as well. Campsites are fairly large and well separated from your neighbours. Very peaceful.

Yash Karkar

It was really a great experience. Make you're safe from snakes there. Dont fogot to cary mosquitoes/bug spray. Cary some energy drink with you when you are on trail as ot little long trail

Jim Jimerson

1st timer here it's great! Hope it doesn't turn into other provincial parks

David D Krueger

Excellent park. Camp sites are very private and wooded. Lots of trails for all levels of ability.

Cindy Grujic

This Park has lots of hiking and biking trails. Close to several small local towns and beaches! Private sites.

Rick Almeida

Been here quite a few times, it's one of my favourite provincial parks. Numerous walking and biking trails. Sunset point can get busy during sunsets, but there is always a spot for a great view. Big park right next to the beach for the kids. Separate dog beach is very nice. I've met various park hosts and all have been friendly and helpful. In September wild for the arts weekend is a great experience wandering around sites viewing great work by various artists and creative vendors. I have taken my bike on all the trails numerous times and each time is different. Washrooms and showers are kept clean, park staff a friendly and welcoming. This park is highly recommended.

Braden Foster

Great for camping and really close to Port Elgin in case you ever want to go shopping. There are loads of bike trails and a nice beach. The park is good for day use also. This year the day beach is actually nicer than the campers beach

Maëlle Ramsay

Stunning sunset and nice park, very secluded camping spots with lots of privacy.

VD

The campsites are smaller than other park. Hard to fit 2 cars side by side or even 2 medium tents. However, beautiful trail walk, dog beach and many outlook point (see the photos below). Washroom has good quality toilet paper and even electric plug if you need to dry your hair. Overall 5 stars!

R. Villanueva

Beautiful place. Many areas to visit and activities to do. Beach area is particularly nice. Only thing are the camp sites. Not as private as they look on screen through photos...

Sarah Sesterak

Been coming here for years. Love it! A great place to get away!

Heather Livingstone

Amazing place. I went there to stay at a Yurt for 5 consecutive years and enjoyed every second of my stay. Yurt was clean and well kept, although there was a bit of dirt on one of the plastic covered mattresses once. Fireplace heater always worked well and kept us warm as we went in November every year. Small deck off the side with a working BBQ and wooden picnic table was nice for meals, as well as a small table inside which seats 4. Fire pit also on site of Yurt, wood bought separately. Must bring your own bedding and toiletries. Bathrooms are generally clean. Trails are plentiful and some very easy to walk on. All are clearly marked and information about wildlife if posted up on boards throughout the trails. I would highly recommend staying in a Yurt at McGregor Point if you love the outdoors, but also warmth and comfort. Camping is also available, although I have never camped in a tent here.

Cai Flores

Camped for a night and it was lovely. Sunset was beautiful, park was peaceful, guests and staff were pleasant. Not many people on the weekdays which made it more serene.

Maria

Clean pristine park. Dog beach and actual runninh water in the public washrooms here you can camp sll year here. Many nature trails to explore as well

Margarita Cañete

An amazing park, so much to do all day long ????????????????Pretty safe, well maintained and staff super friendly and nice. Hiking, swimming, bicycling, camping.. super nice showers, a good store where you can rent bicycles and buy all the last minutes necessities and of course ice cream. Totalmente recomendable:)

Donica - DLA Originals & Donica-dot-eh

The leaves are great! The trails are lovely! Certainly will be back to explore the park completely. Lots of photo and birding in this park

Scott McKenzie

Beautiful natural area, tons of hiking/biking trails, clean bathrooms, and the camp sites are semi-private.

Greg brown

This is a great campground, lots to see and do, my kids love it! Book ahead is recommended if you want sites closer to beach, but there are usually sites available if you don't need all the amenities! Have been here many times, and will be back again.

Michael Law

Everything from the staff, to the location and everything in between is excellent. We have been now multiple times and will definitely be returning. Even out in the woods, the bathrooms/showers are spotless, in our experience.

Dan Young

Great park! Lots of interesting things to see and visit with a young family.

DROP THE POST

This was our first official camping trailer camping. I think we might’ve got spoiled and set the bar really high. Great campsite, great beaches, great bike paths.

Jeff Chesney

Beautiful location to go camping! Many trails and different examples of land formations (wetlands, marls, etc).

Melissa Hofmann

Great fall camping trip. Our site had a lit of privacy. The washroom were clean and not busy. The trails were well groomed. The beach and playground were fun for the kids. The only down side was the poison ivy. There is a lot at the campground and trails.

Jenn Emes

Amazing place for hiking and beaches. Not many people and public bathrooms are now open. There were hardly any mosquitos.

Victoria B

Really nice place to go for a walk and there are a couple of walking trails that you can do. Really nice at any time of the season but during fall you get the nice fall colours of course! The trails were pretty quiet so it was a lovely walk!

Chad Cowan

The skating trail was fun. I would like to know how often they resurface because the ice was pretty rough in the late afternoon when we were there. Would be great to catch a fresh sheet next time.

Random Everything

MacGregor is our new favorite PP! We loved the trails, the playground was great for the kids, and the store has ice cream. The beach is still intact, but 5 feet in the water, the bottom gets slimmy... Not the end of the world. Beautiful Port Elgin with everything you could need is only a 5 minute drive away!

Keyvan G

It's our favorite park and we try to go every year. Awesome bike trails for the whole family and you can ride to park store riding on dedicated trail. Nice Sandy Beach and I love the camp sites with many trees.

Jeannine Dallaire Barkhouse

Great sunsets, bike trails, etc.

Jacquie vonHunnius

Camp site was big and clean. Short walk to the poo palace. Nice and quiet. Did not make it to any of the seminars but they looked interesting. Short bicycle trip into town on trails.

Pat Zuk

Great place on Lake Huron. It was a reasonable drive to enjoy some great swimming and hiking. The dog beach near the park opening was great, the far one was not. Swimmers Beach was great.

Kevin Campbell

Very large ! Nice camping sites close to water

Eric Wolf

Absolutely has a great time camping here! There's plenty of things to do and sights to see; tons of wildlife and nature surrounding the campsite. Sometimes I'd walk around near night fall and get to see some birds in the trees and squirrels on the ground. Sometimes, I would see a pale white figure at the end of the trail, but I would never walk far enough to see what it was. I paid it no mind though, not until 3:15am the next morning. The sound of a falling tree rang in my ears and startled me awake. I ran out of the tent to see no sign of any damage. Still, I felt the ground shake me awake, so something must have fallen. Paranoid, i left the campsite to talk to a ranger and find out what happened. After walking for what felt like a half hour, I realized all the campsites were repeating. Walking in a straight line I passed by my campsite four times. All the other sites that used to have happy families and groups of college students were empty. A horrible feeling kept ringing in the back of my head telling me I'm not supposed to be here. That's when it happened I feel the cold hands of the figure pull me to the ground. Staring up at his lifeless eyes, he opens his mouth and chants, "NOW WE HAVE BECOME ASCENDED, THE TETHER TO THIS WORLD IS MENDED. WHEN YOU HEAR THE HORRID SOUND, ONE BY ONE, YOU'LL ALL FALL DOWN." It was very convenient having a store nearby the campsite! 5/5

This is one of my favorite parks. Peaceful and least crowded. I love the positive vibes this park has...if you like meditation than do visit here, find a quite spot and do some meditation. Beautiful scenic trails, boardwalks and shores. Beach is rockey not ideal for swimming but lake Huron is gorgeous. Also, dont forget to visit the sunset point, and experience the sunset on lake Huron. ❤️

Nancy Heykoop

2017 and before I Absolutely love camping here.Lots of shade and privacy. Awesome biking trails. I'm not sure what the 2018 summer will bring. With thousands of trees removed Nipppising and Huron campgrounds don't offer the same privacy or shade. Algonquin is just as beautiful as always. Ive been camping in this park for over 30 years. I will remit another review after camping there in July. I booked in February of 2018 to reserve a shady site in Nippising, it is now a full sun camp site.

Karishma Pereira

Small campsites, good for groups of 4. Close to other campsites. Water pipes are nearby. Small beach near to Huron campsites, but it's a bit rocky. Fire pit is good size with a grill top, so you can cook with larger pots, like cast iron/dutch oven, if you like campfire cooking. Our campsite area had stagnant water around us, so make sure to take a lot of insect repellent! If you get to the washrooms early or midday, they're freshly cleaned. Facilities are overall quite nice. Everyone is super friendly.

Michael Hill

vibe is pretty pristine

Justin Rebelo

Great Provincial Park with nice trails, it features an ice rink in the winter and roofed accomodations year round. It is close to Tobermory which is also a great hiking location full of wonder.

Nick Soave

Excellent park! The real gem of this place is the trial system. While not the best-marked trails there are a couple of really nice trails to walk or ride.

Kyra Pupinski

Very nice park, lovely large campsites. Excellent bike trails throughout park. Really enjoyed our time here.

Lynn desormeaux

A very beautiful place to go. The campsites are very big and a lot of space between them. The water was fantastic but as for the beach I would say to stick to the public beach as it is less Rocky. All together it was a great time.

Kartik Moza

Very good place to set up camp. Sights and sounds are amazing. Some of the washrooms could be better as some of the people are not always the best when it comes to cleanliness. Try it out !!!

Anwaar M

Park is ok, needs a overhaul. The Yurts are in bad shape. Sites are in poor conditions, no privacy and really small. The front checkin staff need to be more friendly, we reached a bit early and the girl was rude in letting us know the checkin time. This was surprisingly new to us in the years of camping we have done. Lots of snakes and birds you get to see which is good.

Mike “Venom Ninja” Hilario

The place is nice and private at the camp ground beaches. There wasn't a lot of people when we went. Beach parking is a bit far. It's not right beside it. I truly enjoyed the mature trees and vegetation all around. Some of the paths are gravel instead of pavement which is really nice for walks!

Jena Tryfiak

We go for the dog beach and it is just beautiful! Plenty of sticks and rocks to fetch. Everyone has been considerate and clean. It's very scenic with boulders, dunes and driftwood.

Joanne Lenos

Was there just before the winter camping season started. Watched the winter campers set up their homes for the next 5 months. Was a great learning experience and fun to see the many different styles and ways to protect their trailers and enjoy the season. Walked where the skating path was going to be. Great place to go to

Steve Wilson

Great place to camp washrooms, showers, laundry mats super clean. The camp sites secluded with tons of trees and wildlife, deer, coyotes and the occasional black bear :)

Nate Enns

The park was nice. Good private camp sites with trails nearby. What was disappointing was the full price charge even though some services were closed for COVID-19 like showers and the visitor centre. If I'm getting less from my visit why should I pay full price?

aDi

Good camp with clean shower and friendly staff. But we haven't had a good time there. I have been camping all around Canada but never see this. We were in Huron camp site and group of people I can say 45 to 50 people occupied few sites beside us and partying until 1 am making too much noise that you can't sleep. This is not a group camping and I don't understand why park let this many people occupied small camps they even had 3 cars per camp and parking on the road and unfortunately no patrol from park coming to check! We try to approach them but they were speak Arabic and hardly understand English. My last visit to this park unfortunately.

Anita Orosz

We spent a long weekend at MacGregor Point Provincial Park. We didn't have the prettiest site but at least it was private. But there are nicer campgrounds in the park, for sure. The best part of this park is the 6 km long bike trail that follows the Lake Huron shoreline and offers excellent views of the shore and beach areas. The water is crystal clear here! We also loved the hiking trails and boardwalks.

ryan.rowlands

The beach is nice with a playground for younger people. The sites are visually appealing and medium to large in size. Great area to spend time with family, as well as nice trails that dot the lake.

Vishanti Jodhi

One of the best parks I've ever been to. Park is huge, lots of trails, beaches are nice!

Maria Ramirez

The park staff are very friendly and helpful. It is bigger than I thought with great trails, a very nice sandy beach and close enough to town. We had a great campsite and good weekend in general!

Therese Gregorio

I really enjoyed our weekend stay here. The campsite was large with room for 6 people, 3 tents and 3 cars. The campground itself was well maintained with clean washrooms and showers. Loud music isn't allowed, so I found it to be a relatively quiet camping experience, which is what we were hoping for. It's a dog friendly park, with a dog friendly beach within walking distance from Huron campground. The beach was rocky so bring your water shoes. The dog beach is not ideal for swimming, although there is a swimmers beach nearby. I went for a run on the trails and parts of the trail was along the waterfront. The trails were marked, although I would have liked to see more signs posted along the path as I felt uneasy about being lost. I'm rating this 3 stars because the staff in the Park Store weren't friendly or helpful. Two cashiers tended to one customer who couldn't decide on which flavor of ice cream to buy, while a line was forming. When I asked the cost of firewood, the clerk pointed to a sign and said I had to wait my turn. I paid $9 for a bag of firewood which ended up being a small bag of kindling. The signs posted indicated to take wood from the kindling pile, but I didn't realize until we went back for more wood that the firewood was actually further back in another pile. Also, we had purchased a park pass for 2 additional cars ($26 for each car), and we were told that we were able to park all 3 cars at the site. We had 3 cars on the site on one night, but on the second night we were told that we had to move one car because we were only allowed 2 cars on site. Apart from that, we enjoyed our family camping experience at MacGregor Point and plan to camp there again in the future.

Paul Vera

This place is amazing. We went to spend the weekend on a yurt. Perfect for groups up to 6. Very comfortable, with heater, nice beds, table and chairs. Outside an amazing barbecue and a fireplace. Washroom qnd showers 3 minutes away and everything with hot water. This was a perfect weekend.

J M

Every time I've gone I've loved it. Have always stayed in the Huron section of the camp. Sometimes there are partyers on the Friday night but by Saturday night they're all exhausted. As a nice treat, it's a fun bike ride to the camp shop for some ice cream (they also rent bikes there if you need!). Also, when booking, don't pay too much mind to descriptions like full sun, full shade, etc,. This year we went for a full shade site and it had some pretty sunny hours, so just take that description with a grain of salt.

Doug Bastien

Close to home, always a nice visit, and so beautiful.

Mehak Fatima

Beautiful park for camping and day trips. Literally a beach on every corner u turn. A lot of hiking trails, and alot do things to do. The beach is amazing. Water is blue and so clean. I wish I could live here

Morgan Perabo

Beautiful park, so much wildlife and beautiful Lake Huron has some amazing sunsets.

David Hutson

Beautiful sunsets of sunset point trail. Big park with nice private sites.

Aramili Laz

Loved this place. The washrooms are so clean and the showers too. The beach is so much fun. Will be coming back. Hardly any mosquitos and enjoyed the space we had for camping out.

Percy Chan

Good park for biking and camping. Staying in the Yurt for a weekend. Had a chance to do some biking. Not hard at all.

Serena Cooper

We loved macgregor point! The sites were well spaced out and enjoyed the many trails we could walk with our two dogs. Beautiful spot!

Thamo Hurly

This was an awesome park for camping. We've been to many provincial parks, but went to MacGregor Point foe the first time in 2017 and this is now high on the favs list. We especially loved how quiet it was (even though we were not in radio free) ams how spaced out the sites are. Lots of mosquitos this year was probably the biggest issue but we'd definitely go again!

Mark Pasley

This is a beautiful Provincial Park with lots of hiking trails and large, private campsites. It is also well known for bird watching. This is a great spot for family camping.

Ronald Cumpsty

We visited MacGregor last week. We had a fantastic non reservable site on Algonquin, and were very happy with it and the rest of the park. However I found the comfort station for about 50 sites to be in need of updating. The showers were old and had rusty screws holding the taps in place. Also there were very few toilets in both the male, and female I was told. I commented to one of the staff when leaving but she did not know what I was referring to. I hope that I am told that upgrades are planned as up to now we have been very impressed with most of the provincial parks that we have stayed at. We will have no problem visiting MacGregor again in the future.

Tony Sommerdyk

Large private campsites. Beautiful rocky shoreline. Not for beach people. There is swimming. Biking trails walking trails. Staff always helpful and courteous. Sunsets are amazing. Crowds hit the shoreline at sundown to watch. Nature areas and big camp store

Edie Spinelli

Great trails, beautiful sunsets, close to everything....should you choose!!!

Ben Beelen

Amazing wildlife and several trails, some busy and some very no busy. Basically constructed in a swamp though, not sure how bad the bugs would have been in the middle of the summer or later spring (I was there May 18-20 2019) and there were little to no bugs. The wood they sell is also bone dry!

Matt Parker

It's a nice park. The camps are too close and small but it's the norm overall. The 4 Star is because the park rangers haven't been called on or noise yet, we technically have 8 minutes but my compatriots are... Loud. Honestly that might be a reason to remove a star for some

Kelly Bennett

We've stayed in the yurts, it's a great experience!

Nance Conlon

Great thing about this park is that the trailers aren't jam packed. Much more privacy. Only thing is that the hydro post was on opposite side of where our trailer had to be parked. Had to borrow extension cord. But, we'll be back for sure.

Charles Walker

The Yurts are great! We've stayed many times over the past decade and always enjoy our time at MacGregor Point Provincial Park. The yurts are well maintained and quite warm during the cold weather months. The park itself has a good number of trails, both along the shore of the lake and further inland around the wetlands. Recommended!

Kelly Unwin

Excellent campground in a nice remote forested location. Large sites, flat ground, well maintained. Word of caution: this place is huge, so going to the store is quite a hike - bring bikes/be prepared to drive if needed. Would definitely recommend!

Moon Sarkar

Idyllic scenery, beach with calm waters for a nice swim, forest trail drive

Lori HANNON-LADOUCEUR

Quiet park with wonderful hiking trails and beautiful sunset

Biagio Ragusa

I love this camping spot! It littery has everything!

Tara Kachroo

A very large, clean and well kept park. The main activity is definitely biking and I wouldn't camp here without bringing a bike. Beaches are so so. When they list camping sites as without shade they absolutely mean it. Bring a tarp and some tarp supports for a much more comfortable stay.

Andrew James

Quiet and Relaxing A friend and I and our dogs camped at Macgregor point in July 2014. The park is a good size with large, private sites - we could hardly see our neighbours. It feels like you are in the middle of nowhere but the city of Port Elgin is only a 5 -10 minute drive to the north - which is handy for buying supplies and grocery shopping. The weather was cold, wet and dreary for most of our 3 night stay so we didn't get to try the beach but we were able to explore some of the hiking trails. There is a great trail for hiking biking that run along the shoreline and seems to go on for miles. The dogs loved it and there are plenty of places along the shore that permit pets on the beach. The washroom/shower facilities were very new and clean. All in all we enjoyed our stay at the park but as one of the other reviewers mentioned it is missing that wow factor that a lot of other provincial parks have.

Peter Goldsworthy

Great campsite with excellent privacy. Staff were very helpful at gatehouse and store. Sandy Beach and large playground were enjoyed by our 2 grandchildren. We were very happy with the gorgeous night sky.

Rosa Provenzano

Beautiful park, great beach, fantastic trails!!

George Pilar

Beautiful walking trails

Carleigh Milton

Got a day pass and hiked a bunch of trails. Lovely park.

Lucas Balog

Nice park with lots to do. One of the best beaches at a provincial park. Definitely the best dog beach (arguably better than the camper beach). All the sites are private and spacious. Also some of the best provincial park fire wood(pretty low bar but I was impressed)

Sam Onesa

Great trails for hiking, biking. Awesome views of Lake Huron. Natural beaches. Beautiful place for day use and camping.

Michaela Boutilier

A very beautiful place to camp and hike. The bathrooms were kept clean and the staff were nice. If you are into birding, they have awesome trails for it. It was my first time there and I will definitely be visiting again next year ????.

Safa Khan

Campsite was small in view of many other camp sites around. The beach was rocky and slimey and not great for swimming. There were fleas around our campsite and they came home with us so now we have to deal with that mess. But the showers were really nice and spacious and there are lots of birds and fireflies in the park to see. The park is also close to Tobermory and Sauble Beach for those camping at MacGregor and driving out to better beaches...

Tao Jones

In my opinion, this piece of paradise is the perfect place to camp. There are a number of trails offering varying degrees of difficulty. The swimming beach is small compared to Port Elgin but once in the water you can go quite far while keeping your head above water. The beach isn't nearly as busy as in Port Elgin. As much as MacGregor has to offer, Port Elgin and Southampton offer options for rainy days as well as grocery stores and bakeries to restock your cooler.

Pat N

Such a magnificent way to spend time with loved ones. Quiet, well maintained, friendly, peaceful. Spending the day in the water is worth the trip alone.

Vilecia Daniel

Our first ever camping trip couldn't be any better. The sites are pretty private and perfect for groups of 4-6, it also comes with a fire pit and a grill on top, and electricity if you want. The staff is super friendly and helpful, answered all the questions and recommended where to go. Washrooms and showers well maintained, in addition to coin washers and dryers. The visiting center offers a lot to see, including activities and events. The park shop is pretty convenient and has anything you could need, including coffee ???? for reasonable prices. Some parts of the park need more directions or signs but overall a very pleasant experience, definitely recommended.

Steve Jackson

Awesome park clean water. A little cold tho. Lots of hiking. I suggest parking at one end and explore. Then drive to other end of park to see more. Place is huge!

Sheila Steele

Have been going to MacGregor Point since 1994. The children grew up going there and my son decided he wanted to get married at the park he truly felt connected with. It is very close to the town of Port Elgin, and so you will find anything needed at your fingertips. The sites are generous and if you want to camp in the winter, there are also sites open as it stays operational all year. Staff are wonderful. Very courteous. This is my go to place!

Nikki Basten

Nice big sites. Mature forest so added privacy. Gorgeous sunset views over the lake. Seemed to have lots of learning activities for the kids! Bear country so be sure to put away food/garbage but that's camping. Huge! You'll likely want to be driving to some of the beaches/access spots within the park dependingwhere site is. Great spot!!

Katelyn Hines

By far too 5 fav provincial parks. Up there with Agawa bay, arrowhead etc. So many amazing trails! Beautiful beach, excellent visitors centre and clean bathrooms! I even did a free painting class there. I adore this park! Plus, if you go in the off season you can pay by the hour if you wish cheap!!!!

Alana stewart

Great place to camp, especially for those into biking! Been coming here since I was a kid and will continue to come. Private, wooded sites offer excellent privacy. Clean and abundant facilities. If you’re into fishing you will really have to leave the park and go elsewhere - only a tip , not a critique. The beach and swimming area are awesome for a good float.

Paula Lamarre

Amazing Provincial Park open year round with yurts for winter camping! ! Awesome paths for snowshoeing, cross country skiing and hiking. And a skating rink! Love the nature here and the birds are abundant

Eric Westwood

Had a wonderful time! Beautiful trails and beaches. Site was mostly clean but we did pick up some plastic.

Mathieu Levesque

It's an okay Provincial park, good for a weekend outing. If staying a full week we would have been hard pressed to find things to do. There are a couple good hiking trails but the rest are better suited for biking (we did not bring bikes). The site we stayed at (Huron - Hawk) had no showers/flush toilets (or even soap dispensers). We had to drive to another campground for these amenities. Seemed outdated compared to many other parks we have been to. As always the staff was nice and helpful.

Bronwen M

Beautiful water and outdoor fun. 5 hours will go by way too fast.

Frankie Hui

Walking trails are amazing! Great place to bike

Stefanie Jesney

Beautiful park! Taking 1 point off because our site was gravelly and the campground was confusing. But the facilities were good, and the dog beach in the Huron campground is absolutely beautiful! Tip: Buy your firewood outside the park as they charge a lot. Most of the country roads leading up to the park have stands and signs selling firewood for much less.

Borden Bleich

The site had great privacy and was easy to enter and exit. Perfect family park for those that like to bring there bikes

Ryan Talbot

So beautiful and natural. Great camping all 4 seasons. Skate trail kinda cool

NZP Chasers - Skystock

Nice little hidden gem along the Lake Huron shoreline. Would recommend the trip on a clear sunny day!

Jim Duffield

Great park, lots of nature to enjoy! Other than the smelly outhouses and lack of security patrols to control noise during the week, we had a great time. Campsites are well kept, bikes for rent, trails, we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back.

Whole Health Chelsi

First time here and it was absolutely breathtaking. Watched the sunset on the beach. Beautiful, well kept and great staff.

Alicia Woolvett

Small campsite, far away from comfort stations. We we're right beside a "bathroom" which was a hole with a toilet seat on it. The odour travelled over to our site a few times over our three days there. Our site was far away from everything, we had to drive through the park to get there. Beaches were very poor quality, would recommend going out to Port Elgin. Flies we're insanely horrible and all over everyone. The park itself was clean and we'll maintained.

Mary M.

Just got back from spending two days. Had the whole area to ourselves. Met two very friendly volunteers, Ruth and Charles, at the visitors centre. This park is perfect for outdoor activities. Hiking/biking trails are excellent. Port Elgin & Southampton only a few km away. Will definitely go back.

JOELLA SEABORN

We really enjoyed this park. The trailer sites were big enough for a small pop up trailer and 2 tents, plus a pop up canopy. Each site felt secluded with trees around all 3 sides, so you didn't feel like you were near other sites. The beach was a short walk, and was nice and sandy, and shallow for a distance. The water does get deep, but then there is a sand bar that everyone seemed to enjoy playing on! Lots of trails for walking and biking. Mosquitos were plentiful in July, so deterents were required nightly. A beautiful place for some time in the wilderness.

Seongha Han

MacGregor Point Provincial Park is located between on Concession Rd 4 and Lake Range Rd. In MacGregor Point Provincial Park there are campgrounds such as Algonquin, Nipissing,Huron are the camping campgrounds. The Group Campingsite campground name is Juniper Woods.Nice Privacy!

Frank Miolla

Great, peaceful and beautiful place to camp with the family. The beach is beautiful, fishing is great and the trails are fantastic.

Nicole N

Visited this park two years in a row in late September and it's a good spot for some quiet away from business and for socializing with friends. Campsites are quite private and bathrooms and trails are well maintained. Beach is mostly rocky, but sunset point has some great views.

Stepan Reut

Nice park, Far fron regular crowd

Winnie Ray

Beautiful park with amazing beaches ! Loved every minute of my time there! So much to do inside and around.

Stew Stew

Great park, great and committed staff. Clean facilities and lots to explore.

Greg Harrold

The park was nice, out campsite was private. It needed some work with drainage on the campsite as we ended up in a swamp from the rain. We went after Sept Labour Day weekend, and were told the park store was open until 3pm, then the next day it was closed and were told it was closed all week. Only to then go to the front gate and find that "all week" meant just Tuesday and Wednesday and then had to drive back into the park to the Park Store. I know the park wasn't packed so services were limited, but some organization or communication would be very helpful.

Reinhart B

Great place to camp and vacation!

Nayany Cruz

I gotta say this park is my favourite for camping and I have been to a quite a few others. What makes it so special to me is that, here I find privacy, find quietness, peace, all I hear are the trees. I camp to unwind so to me the more enclosed and full of trees the camping sites are the better it is. The water is so clear and although its almost 3 hours away from TO is so indeed worth the drive. You can see gorgeous sunsets and the water is not so cold. The Staff is also really nice, the one thing lacking of is the sand area at the beach. I feel that a bit of maintenance and removing the branch pieces would go a long way and also would make it safer to everyone.

Stephen Kisielewski

Camp sites were very nice and lots of great hiking and walking trails with a beautiful beach area.

Bartman

Wow. First time here, albeit a little early in our camping season, but we'll be back! Huge park, still trying to get our bearings as we mt. bike around. Trails are multiple and we'll maintained and marked. Bring an extra extension cord if you're camping as the posts at the site usually take two x 30'. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, an excellent gateway to so much this area has to offer.

Mike Chan

One of the nicest Provincial Parks I've ever been to. Not overly busy, even though it was full. We went swimming in the lake and no one else was around, it was like being at a private lake! We stayed at one of the electric sites so I think that added to why it seemed so quiet. I'd definitely go back to camp.

David Delgado

MacGregor point was a very private, quiet, clean park. The trails were nice to walk along. The waters we're crystal clear. Washrooms were kept very clean. There were plenty of trees to keep the sites pretty private and to dampen to noise from neighboring campers. All in all we really enjoyed our trip to MacGregor Point.

Chris Silcock

Large campgrounds - fairly clean and well maintained. Miles of trails to explore on foot or by bike. Close to small towns such as Port Elgin, so you have some options for 'civilization' should the weather not work out in your favor.

Adam Smith

This is my third time at this park, and it is a great place to camp if you are looking for a camp ground that is closer to home in southern Ontario, and like the northern Ontario atmosphere. It certainly isn't Algonquin or Kilarney, but it offers nice sites whether you are tenting it, or have a trailer. There are a few hiking trails that are perfect for biking or for beginners.

Michael Luke

Beautiful park and gorgeous trails!

Javier Castellanos

Had a wonderful time with my family. We camped there for 2 nights. I would go back as many times as possible. It was almost completely booked but we got to find a spot 2 weeks before the trip.

Jack van Ham

We have been going here for many years, and it never disappoints. Nice sites, general store (must try their ice cream) and beaches. Great place to do some star gazing and watch the sun set at sunset point.

Tom Lauren Schotsman

A beautiful, large provincial park on the shore of Lake Huron. Our family stayed in the Algonquin area of the park. We liked the small clover-shaped loop setup for the campground, as it really cut down on traffic flow past our site and allowed our children to have a safe place to ride their bikes without getting lost. We had an accessible yurt with a great covered porch. It was a nice deep site with a good mix of both sun and shade. The large yurt gave us plenty of room for ourselves and four small children. The beach was not huge, but was plenty large enough, and had much more access to sandy beach area than other local beaches, due to the high water levels this year. The children enjoyed the interactive park interpretive centre as well as the easy walking and biking trails. Staff and fellow campers were generally friendly, though we did have a loud neighbour who kept their music on until late at night - it would have been nice if the rangers would have done more drive-throughs after dark to keep that noise level down. We'd definitely recommend this park to others and hope to return again some day.

Kenji Davis

MacGregor Park is a good choice for people that love yurt camping, the yurts are well maintained and it is not too far from the GTA so you can experience camping but with much less equipment

Dave Cronin

Great day of skiing It was beautiful in the park that day

Rebecca Burns

Beautiful spot to walk with the dogs or the family. Trails are suitable for riding bikes but during the summer can be a bit dangerous because it gets very busy. Old shore road trail is a personal favourite - I love the views of the lake. Staff/Rangers are very friendly and helpful as well.

Kristen Horner

I've been coming here since I was a kid, great place to camp during the summer and a great place to hike. Amazing spot to snowshoe or cross country ski. I can't wait till summer is back, I love camping here.

Sebastian Kluth

Situated on the shores of Huron Lake, MacGregor Point Provincial Park offers some scenic beaches that invite to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Brent van Schaayk

Beautiful park on Huron. It was nice and quiet. Beach is on the smaller side but nice and sandy. There are many bike trails to get all throughout the park. The park store has bike rentals and a good selection of ice cream. Port Elgin is a 10 minute drive if you need groceries or supplies.

Scott Race

Excellent hiking with miles of trails that is connected to the Saugeen Shores rail trial! There are 16 yurts for camping as well as group camping sites! Excellent for larger get togethers! There are three different camping areas nestled in 4000 acres of bush bordered on the west with 5 miles of Lake Huron shoreline! There are wetlands and ponds with abundant wildlife! There is a park store and interpretive center as well! All in all a great family getaway for a day, weekend or longer!

Thomas McAlister

We camped at an electrical site in our big tent, the site was so big and private! We were surrounded by tall trees. The staff we interacted with were friendly and professional, the washrooms were always clean, we enjoyed the ice cream and bike rentals at the park store, the beach was perfect! Plenty of trails for exploration. Honestly the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that the shower we used at the comfort station near our site, the water pressure was so high it felt like being sand blasted! ????

Janice Murphy

liked the privacy of the campsites. The park was one of the cleanest parks I have been to. Bathrooms and showers are clean and maintained. Beaches were ok and I liked that they were pet friendly. The staff and the visitor center were great. The park store was very handy too. The one drawback that I didn't like was the gravel on the sites because I was in a tent, but would be great for a trailor.

Bob Mckeown

Great park, lots to do in area

Alicia Robinson

One of our favorite places to go camping, try to make it out here at least once a year.

Edwin Tsang

Lot of beach, very clean water.

Tim De Leij

Amazing beaches sites and trails. Maybe my new favourite

Cesar Reinoso

Lots of wildlife, and great to share some time with friends . It was good but the letrine were too much to handle. Overall the lake was marvellous, walking area fantastic.

paul robinson

A beautiful spot. It was a full day, but the lake still looked nice. The walk through the park was peaceful. Lots of campers enjoying themselves. Campfires going, kids playing..

Sarah Larsen

Amazing trails, beach and campsites! So much to do we need to go back for another trip! One week just isn't enough. The Sunsets are extraordinary along with the crystal clear turquoise lake. Excited to see you again MacGregor! Sarah & Austin

Dave Hyland

Very nice park with great beaches and biking.

Courtney Hammond

Clean bathrooms, nice beach, 5 minutes to town, only complaint is that the camp sites are quite small and close together

Hope

Enjoyed camping here. Beautiful sights and great hiking trails

Doug Slater

Lovely long beach, good for a nice leisurely walk and a swim too if the day is warm.

Veronica Ciolfi

Great park with private beach for campers. General store is well stocked with camping essentials, souvenirs and ice cream and takes credit/debit as well. Well worth the time to go out to sunset point.

Bonnie Fitzgerald-Hodson

Was here last year and looking to go back on a sunny day again. Best place to get away for a bike ride.

paromanin

Private sites and beauty views

MaryAnne Gajdek

Really enjoyed the campsite. Very private. Friendly staff. Lots of trails, bike rentals, beach area to enjoy. And very nice nearby towns to visit while camping.

Arek Kulczynski

The park itself is fine, but it felt like it was understaffed. We stayed in a "radio free zone" and yet if felt more like we were in a cheap Mumbai tavern in the middle of a Festival of Screams. Not a ranger in sight all night to confide in. Disappointing....

Bryan Stafford

Perfect place to spend quality time with nature... the birds eat right from your hand. love winter camping! We just need more snow, come on snow!!! ;)

Andre LeFort

A well sized park with a number of enjoyable hikes for all. We visited in March and drove up to Lion's Head for a breathtaking hike too!

Ken Field

Did some winter camping here in their yurts. It was a really impressive experience. The yurts were big and well kept, heated, with everything you'd need. The BBQ even included lined-in propane so you didn't need to bring your own. Absolutely beautiful experience, highly recommend.

Derek Kell

Been going for almost 30 years, best place to go

shylo malcolm (simplyblessedshy.com)

Very nice provincial park to visit. We camped there for 2 nights, unfortunately due to covid the showers were closed but the washrooms were still open. The lots have a lot of tree coverage and are pretty private which is really good. Lots of trails around too if you want to hike. I'd definitely stay here again. Highly recommend ????????

Chris Bramley

This is an amazing park to take kids. The trails are great and filled with all sorts of wildlife to see. The scenery is beautiful plus there is camping areas for extended stays.

Justin Cuaresma

Beautiful place for winter camping

Sarah J. A. Rowan

This was my second home in the summer as a kid. Campsite 131 is where we lived for two weeks every July, and every long weekend from May until Thanksgiving. Biking the trails, campfires and films at the Visitor Centre, earning Good Camper awards, swimming at the beach, appreciating nature... We learned a lot at MacGregor!

Fiona Hatfield

We stayed in the electrical sites of Huron (Iris Grove) Campground Pros: - Campground programs are good for kids (e.g. Owl Prowl and reptile show) - The number of different bird species is remarkable, amazing place for Bird watchers. - sites are large and mostly private - Playground at the campers beach is really good - Visitor centre staff very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating Cons: - Septic tank for the Huron camp ground overflowed all over the Children's play ground equipment and sand at the comfort station... DISGUSTING - Because of septic tank issues, the comfort station in Huron was out of service for an entire day (Saturday) the park's "40th anniversary party" and the August long weekend... e.g. the busiest day of the year... you would think they would have pre thought some of this and had the septic tank maintained PRIOR to the busiest day of their year. - bad smell permeated the entire campground from the septic system for days before the system overflowed... anyone familiar with septic systems should know this is a problem... Staff should have managed the problem before it became critical. - the whole campground smelled of urine from men peeing in the bushes. (we had 3 sites, and all smelled like urine) There had been very little rain in this area in the month of July... so the campground never got "washed by nature". It is quite gross to eat your meals in what smells like a urinal - the campers beach is tiny for the 350+ sites - watch out for cyclists on the multi use trails, many do not know what they are doing and almost hit hikers and pedestrians - Do not let your children wear light up shoes when out on a night hike (Owl Prowl)... you need your night vision... and the light up shoes ruin the whole effect. Also don't let your children shine their headlamps in peoples faces... it is really annoying Unfortunately I will not be back to this campground, it left a bad smell in my memory

Felix Romero

Favorite campground. Lots of nature, secluded sites, bike and hiking trails. Sandy Beach was good this year as the water level of the lake has dropped a couple of feet. Best beach is at Port Elgin which is only about 10 minutes away.

Eileena Rideout

Sites are nice and private though ours was a little small. There's no where to fish unfortunately unless you have a boat. The beaches were full(during covid) so we swam at the dog beach. The water wasn't overly clean and big rocks & boulders made it hard to get in and out of the water though the water was warm. The nicest spot we found was on the point. Deer Flys if no breeze and too many tiny flies(swarms) at sunset(my son's shirt was covered in tiny spots from trying to wipe them off. Don't think they bite but couldn't even breath without them trying to go up your nose.

Ed W. Visser

This is our second time in the park. Both times with a 32' 5th wheel. Before reaching the gate there is a water filling station - I think 4 RV's could fill up at once. This is completely separate from the dump station. Next, the various campgrounds basically circles which makes getting around with our rig very easy compared to some parks, where one has to weave and navigate through winding narrow paths. Signs were helpful. We were in site 57 and were pleasantly surprised how isolated we were, and how nice and big and shady the site was.

R.J

While camping with a large bunch of friends, a storm moved in and so some pictures were taken.

Calvin R.D

Terrible. Got there the night before Canada day and had a couple drinks. During the night the campsite beside us set off a firework. In the morning the camp security came by and told us that they had received a bunch of noise complaints and that we had set off fireworks (we hadn’t) so we were immediately evicted. We tried to explain what had happened and they weren’t interested in listening, threatening us with fines if we continued to defend ourselves. Don’t go there if you expect to have fun.

Cory Goldstein

Quite a beautiful park and great for camping. Downside was the small beach areas and dirty water. Couldn't bring myself to go in.

Jeff Wenzel

One of my favorite provincal parks , has everything swiming biking hiking

Kent Truscott

On the east coast of lake Huron, MacGregor has a vast store of trails and beaches. The waters of the lake are clear and crisp.

Marie-Claude Bouret

Went for a walk along the trails and beach (November). It was peaceful - nobody there. During our picnic by the beach, chickadees perched on our head and hands to be fed. Loved it!

Justin Folkerts

It's a provincial park. If you've been to one, you know what to expect. Big park, nice beach that's walking distance from most camp sites. Camp sites are OK. Rocky ground in our site. An air mattress is a must if you are tent camping. Decent general store, with basic supplies, ice cream for the kids and MacGregor swag for those so inclined. Facilities are neat and clean. Solid park.

Outdoor Adventurer

We camped here the weekend of July 26 to July 28th 2019 and It was AMAZING!!!! One of the best provincial parks I have ever been to period!!! So many terrific trails, they had things going on each day for our Niece who came along for her first trip. The Saturday they had a reptile exhibit and it was amazing. I would suggest this park 100000% You will no be sad you did. BTW did I say how clear the water was, so blown away just gorgeous. Piece of advice keep your park pass they give you and then drive down highway 21 north to Sauble Falls Provincial Park you can then go there for free and walk, YES WALK through a water fall. One of the greatest things I ever did. We will be back again!!!!!

Steve Whitaker

We shared 2 yurts with 2 other couples. The bunk beds were comfortable double on bottom single òn top. The larger yurt had only 1 heater & when the temperature was below -15 it was still a little cool. Above -10 they were comfortable. Remember to bring a second stove unless you eat BBQ full-time. Good trails. Only 17 yurts so book early as they are popular. Cabins were being built so they could be ready for 22/23 winter.

Kelsey Halagian

Loved this park! It is well laid out and great for biking all the trails and along the shore! Campsites are pretty private. I was in 159 in nipissing and read online before that the smell from the washrooms wafts over. Even though the smell was foul in the washrooms, i couldn't smell it from my campsite which was directly across so i was happy! Had a pleasant stay all around and definately can't wait to come back!

Magnum Petcare

A very nice campground. Peaceful and relaxing.

Diana Moreno Ojeda

If I could, I would give this park a 4.0 on amenities, and a 4.5 for the natural diversity. I loved my camping ground, it was really closed to a viewing deck of the Marl, which was both strikingly beautiful and very peaceful. There were very few mosquitoes, the bathrooms were clean, there is a bird sanctuary and the beach was fantastic. Now, my only issue with this place is that my partner and I are cyclists. We travel very light, to make the pedaling smoother and that often means we do not carry a lot on the way food. Other parks have food available at the park store, but here the emphasis was all on the sweets.

Prachi Chiney

Had an amazing camping in mid July. The campsite wasn't too big,but privacy was good .it did rain during our stay but the drainage was good.amazing bike trails.beach was nice.other campers were also nice and friendly ,my son had a wonderful time biking there.comfort stations could have been cleaner.park store was average .staff was friendly. one needs to watch out for racoons at night!would definitely go again next year.

Mathea Franssen

Because they let us to stay for one night. That was the last campsite. We went quite a few campsite, they were all filled up. McGregor Point Provincial Park is a very nice place to go camping. Next year we are to reserve a sight.

joyce primeau

The staff are friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The sites are nice. Lots of walking, and biking paths. The visitors centre has lots of interesting things to see and learn about. The comfort stations are clean. 5hey ha e lots of good kids programs, ...

Murry Rusk

We camp here yearly, it’s a great park. Good beach, dogs are allowed except on the main beaches. Water is shallow for a good distance to enjoy walking in. Lots of kayaking and canoeing can be done, as well as hiking. Close to port Elgin for any groceries needed and more sandy beaches within the city.

Wijaya Ekanayake

It has nice and colorful beaches. Not that deep in some areas. Expect huge waves in a windy day, so, got to be careful. Camping experience is also good.

Tammy Landry-Taylor

We were here in the off season (mid-April) and enjoyed camping in one the yurts. The park facilities are typical for a provincial park except they have a laundry room (I'd personally prefer a dishwashing station like the national parks). The trails here were awesome; we did Lake Ridge and Tower. Around sunset we walked out to Sunset Point and were blown away by how beautiful Lake Huron is.

Craig McDonald

Awesome park, Large park with lots to hike and bike trails through are awesome.. beaches are great and has campers only beaches aside from the day use..

Sumit Kumar

I loved this park. Infrastructure is great. The park has a great beach, Lot of camp sites and tonnes of hiking trails. I think there is a active bear in the park as we saw some big claws. Overall it was fun.

Scoot Boot

Once you get through the trailer park there is a beautiful trail along the coast.

Mike Dobsi

I've stayed there about half a dozen times. Always a good experience. It's a huge park and most of the camp sites have pretty good privacy. It has a decent beach at the park. But its also a 5 minute drive to another good public beach. And about 25 mins to Sauble Beach. The washrooms at the park are always clean

Dhruv Patel

Great park for camping. Been there few times and always have fun.

Dan Jelly

Great spot to camp. Yurt was nice and clean and warm. Lots of great hiking. Highlight was the sunsets. Didn't get to meet McGregor, though.

Hernand Pollaruste

Nice campground and beach ????️ bike and hiking trails

Brutis 2012

THE BEST CAMPING I HAVE EVER DONE WAS AT MACGREGOR lots to do, grate for family time, amazing wonderful staff, grate showers and bathrooms and park rangers are amazing ...I WILL DEFINITELY BE CAMPING HERE NEXT YEAR!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Joy Luangkham

Always a great park to hike in. Short with great views. (March 2021)

Kat 420Princess

Campsites & washrooms were clean. Sites had lots of privacy and the trails offer plenty to see. It was a little chilly when we were there so we didn't swim but the beach looked clean and the water was beautiful and clear!

Dennis Voß

The park is well maintained. Restrooms super clean all the time. We did some winter-camping in a tent in March. Between -7 and +4. Most of the time very windy. We didn't see the active bear but a whitetail deer and a lot of geese. We hiked 15 km in different areas of the park. The Provincial Park is called after the MacGregor Point and that area is private land (in the middle of the Park). So, no MacGregor Point in the MacGregor Point Provincial Park - so, what's the point of the name then? ????

Isabella Di Tursi

beautiful trails & scenery! washrooms are clean and the camping is great!

lynn cathcart

Should have bought a yearly membership.... good until dec 2022

Elida Stipić

This is an amazing park. We spent a weekend at the site #302, which is very private. Next year we will try group camp site which also looked amazing. Would definitely recommend the park!

R F

Beautiful park with great bike trails. The dog beach is very rocky though and cut up our dogs paw and leg - be aware.

Cheri Scratch

Loved this park - can't wait to go back!

Dave Thezinga

I have camped there many times and it is my family's favourite camp ground. Great trails, awesome sunsets. Most things convenient within walking distance.

Stephen Mundy

Stunningly beautiful park on the shores of lake Huron. Great customer service even in the winter. Be sure to call ahead and ask about the snow conditions if you are planning a trip here in the winter

Jim Wade

Not crowded, quite quiet and beautiful beaches! Really enjoying our stay so far.

Savanah Callery

We had a great time here. We got rained out on our last day and stayed for a weekend, I wish we could’ve stayed longer. I’m only rating 4 stars because of the lack of privacy on campsites, and the fact that there’s a black bear in the area and not enough postings about the bear. Black vs brown makes the difference.

Anne-Marie Rasenberg

Nice park, big park yet quiet. Great for kids. Very well layed out. Rocky/stone/gravel shores-not the best for swimming. Good hiking trails. Visitor center closed due to Covid.

Akhilesh

What a beautiful and lovely park. Must visit in winter or summer.

Michael Donnelly

Great park to hike around or bike around. Easy boardwalk trials and harder ones for more experienced. Great spot to go camping and a nice little public beach. Very well maintained and clean.

Ryan King

Camped at Hawk Ridge campground. Site quality was excellent and spacious. Beach was great but a little small Overall would recommend

Jean

Awesome park. Great campsites & Great trails

jay vaghela

Amazing trails Huge park Friendly staff Close to beach

Diane

Jul 1 - 3 17 Algonquin Campground Cedar Lane Campsites 120 Nice private space. One side needs a little bit more privacy/trees. Easily accessible Electricity Water (non-drinkable) Washroom Shower. Clean and Spacious. Old Shore Road Trail was nice Rained on Jul 2

Jordan Coll

Beautiful park! Nice private campsites. Definitely would recommend bringing bikes because depending on where your campsite is, it can be a long way from the store and beach.

Linda Rose

Beautiful park with large, private sites. Lots of hiking and biking trails. Good store. Hot big showers. Nice, clean, sandy dog beach. Amazing Lake Huron sunsets! Loved it here. Our new favourite provincial park.

Nick Ferguson

The park has plenty of good trails. Some near the water front and others through the forest. You can even take them all the way into the nearby town and there is a new trail that takes you out to a Canadian Tire and a few other stores on the edge of town if you need some last minute supplies. The signage for the various trails and campgrounds are not intuitive and could use an update though.

A. T.

Fairly quiet, not too crowded park. Camping facilities available. The beach area is rather small. Several short trails make it a nice day outing away from the city.

Grace Holliday

Nicely groomed trails , washrooms available & accessible for all!! Annnd a park store to stop in & grab an ice cream!

Kristina

Nice park, sites are big and clean. Felt very safe. Will be back for sure

Collin D'souza

Yurted at the park in Nov and it was great. The double door yurt was amazing

Dishant Patel

Really nice place to go for camping with friends, and family. Beach is nice and really beautiful view of sunset while in the water.

Carlie Williams

My favourite provincial park to camp at, by far. I've been camping here for years since I was a child with my family. Gorgeous sites that have lots of privacy and are close to the bathrooms/showers. The facilities are always clean as well. Just a short drive to many amazing beaches as well. Would highly recommend camping here if you're travelling to Port Elgin!

Jason Roberts

The park is lovely, even in the off-season. The hiking trails are well maintained and clearly marked. We sighted quite a lot of small wildlife, but no larger animals. We booked a yurt, which was spacious for 2 but would have been claustrophobic for the full occupancy of six. The barbecue at our site was not in good repair, and not all of the burners were working. The heater in the yurt also made a loud knocking that disturbed my sleep.

Geraldine Pitre

Nice beach, small though, get there early! Washrooms clean, but need upgrading. Great bike trails! Yurt #90 in desperate need of repairs. There are newer Yurts in the park. Quiet & peaceful park, not as busy like Pinery.

Sara DeLong

Has a good variety of trails. The views are incredible. And the park itself is just a lovely place to be

L Chisholm

Great Provincial Park with lots of trails for bike riding, one takes you right into Port Elgin. The trail signage can be confusing until you become familiar with it. Beautiful Lake Huron sunsets. Lots of washrooms around the park. Small beach areas with shallow lake areas for children. Many campsites are sadly more open now, many large ash trees had to be cut down due to the ash borer infestation.

Sandra Kielstra

Nice park with private campsites There are great biking trails in and around the park.

Nicolas van den Ende

I've been coming here since I was just a little child and now I'm bringing my kids. It's a nice park. Sites are nice and often private. It has lots of trails to walk or bike. The parks facilities are little old and need some work but I really like it here.

ibrahim damaj

Robby , you are the best. We visited MacGregor park last month ,me and my wife . I parked my van in a little far area inside the park and we went for a walk on the trail that goes along the beach. After a two hours walk and when we returned to drive the van .I realized that I lost the keys.So we went back on the trail to look for the keys we spent another two hours.and We were so tired . I called the office and we were lucky to get Robby answering the phone. He immediately came to help us and stayed with us until we got help from the CAA.He even went on his bike on the trail to look for our keys .The keys were not found but the care and help of Robby will not be forgotten.Thank you .(All the stuff were also nice).

Janaki Diva

We went camping this summer here. There are several trails in this place. Our favorite was Deer trail, which was really great for biking. Though it was raining and damp, we still did the biking and it was awesome.

Maria Gahlinger

A wonderful, large park on the shore of Lake Huron. Great, spacious campsites. Well looked after. There is a good bike path all through the park and that connects to a trail to Port Elgin ( about 9km to town from the park) A major problem I had was getting lost on the bike path as there are not always signs indicating where you are. I found out later that the Visitor's Centre has bicycle maps. Due to its popularity, reservations are a good idea, particularly on week ends. I highly recommend this park!

Johnny Heber

Absolutely loved it. Very clean and quite beautiful trails to walk and great view of the sunset from the lookout

J D

MacGregor Point is great. The campsites are terrific, with lots to do in the park overall. Great trails for biking or walking, swimming, and beautiful sunsets at "sunset point". A different camping experience this year with some COVID-relayed restrictions, but overall still a great family experience.

Tina Yang

Nice place for camping ???? Enjoy hiking bench and beautiful sky ????

Michael Davidson

We stayed here as a family and tried "Yurt Camping" for the first time. It was a good choice as it was early May and it was rainy and cold. So the warm yurts were great and comfortable. Seems like a well run campground as staff were friendly and people respectful and not any noise after 10pm. We really enjoyed this campground on beautiful Lake Huron.

Jeannie Hartwick

Had a great time..beach was amazing had tons of trails..always something to do.their..washrooms nice and cleaned daily..same with showers..will definitely be back????

Maria GAHLINGER

A wonderful provincial park with many large, fairly private and quiet campsites, some with electricity. I love the beaches and the bike trail through the park. There is also a good camp store and a visitor's centre. Showers and laundry machines are available. My main concern is that the bike trail is not very well marked and I got lost a few times. They have posts indicating direction but when it crosses a camp road, it usually doesn't tell you where you are. The staff are very helpful. The park fills up quickly on week ends so reservations in advance are useful. I will definitely be back!

Doug Caughy

Booked 2 nights in a yurt. Yurt was very rough and had a terrible lot. 6 visible neighbour camp sites with many more packed in tight. No one patrolled for inconsiderate and loud neighbours. Gave up and left early. The final insult was only receiving 50% of the remaining nights refund! Don't bother with this destination.

Jeanetta Grawbarger

Great place to camp- nice, big, private sites. Amazing dog beach.

T N

We love camping here!

Sue Thompson

Big sites. Comfort stations in middle of multiple sections. Nice sandy beach. Pretty lake front scenery and sunset spot on the beach. Easy bike and walking trails.

Dan Brooks

This was an amazing camp site very clean private and well maintained washrooms cleaned on a regular basis staff very helpful and professional. The staff at camp store frindly and helpful. Our stay was more than we expected given the issues of the pandemic and how well the protocals where implemented. Would very highly recommend this place. Trails well groomed and inviting to enjoy.you don't know what you are missing so tske some time from your busy life styles and go enjoy you won't regret it. Teresa&Dan Brooks site 75

Sarah B

We spent an October weekend tent camping at MacGregor Point and it was one of our favorite provincial parks yet. The sites around us were nicely spaced and we had a lot of privacy. It is a big park with a lot of activities available but walking along the shoreline was one of the highlights. The scenery is absolutely beautiful and you should definitely try to catch a sunset if you can

Cabot Leopard

this is the greatest place ever! I really liked going biking in the mountains and going lake but beware that there are ticks and other insects always check you pet before letting him or her in your tent or trailer

Huneza Mehdi

It has a breathtaking view of the beach especially if you visit there during fall time! The whole park was amazing -- definitely would visit it again

Elizabeth Terlecka

The park is very nice lots of trails very nice beaches the only thing missing is canoe rental

Salma Bakr

Enjoyed camping at MacGregor Point. The sites are pretty clean and private. You can barely hear other campers’ noise. There are 8 trails for cycling/walking/hiking; most of them are easy ones. I enjoyed relaxing at Camper’s Beach but didn’t swim there because I found a snake swimming! So I preferred to go swimming in a nearby beach outside the park..

Andrew Nairn

Incredible experience every time! a few days isnt nearly long enough, must be a weeklong adventure! bring bikes and outdoor gear for it is the greatest place for shoreside bike trails and has a ton of areas awaiting to be explored! unless you stay in your tent the whole time, your bound to have an amazing experience full of sun, wildlife and nature :)

Kristyn Durance

We love MacGregor Point! Our favorite camping spot. We try and go every season because there is always something to do. Park is clean and staff is always friendly.

Linda Jolie

MacGregor point is a gorgeous campground with an immense amount of privacy. We were there on a weekend and could barely hear our neighbours. We rented a Yurt for 4 nights. I highly recommend. My only issue came with parking. The Yurt sleeps six people,. There is absolutely no way you can get six people in a vehicle with all their camping equipment. Since you are already charged a premium for the Yurt I do believe a second car should be ‘free of charge’

Meg Pill

We went yesterday for the afternoon, for a walk down the Old Shoreline Trail. Instantly magical, walking down the beach to ice-covered waters as far as the eye can see. It was like being transported to the artic. We arrived around 2, which was a great time to have the place to yourselves. Looks like a great place to camp! Lots have lots of shade and privacy, while being close to the water.

Leena Kk

Toilets way too far for small children and pregnant people. Felt strange to go to a park where you want to walk to places yet had to drive... To showers, to beach. Also very disappointed that we had to get 2 camping sites for 6 adults and a 22 month baby.... They said only 6 people per camp site!!!! This was a Christmas gift from my daughter to the family.... Never going back!

Alex Myles-Matovsky

Park rangers are awesome. From the front desk to the patrol folk. They are quite friendly. The sites are private. There is a great trail on the old Lakeshore path. But it could use a little better signage from Huron camping area. The beach is really beautiful. Water was a bit murky close up but clear further in the lake. Water is very cold even in the dog days of summer. Lots of kids so try to come on a weekday of that matters to you. With high lake water levels this year the beach was very narrow and crowded but that's just what it is.

Loved McGregor we have done 8 parks this summer, and it's one of my fav.Lots of things to see and do, Love the bike trails, walking trails

Had an amazing long weekend with the family.. park had daily events that my 6 year old really enjoyed.. hiking along the shore line early morning way my favorite thing I did

Angela Sarantakos

Usually love McGregor year after year, but this time the sites were very unkept and the garbage & recycling bins were not emptied from last year! Yes, I understand with Covid 19 it's a very trying year but left from last season is not right.

My family and I live on the road we hop park to park we reserved for family day weekend two days upon arrival automatically canceled spent the night in a parking lot with no heat or electricity fast forward two cold weeks reserved for tomorrow get a email night before automatically canceled very unpleasant with this park and ontario parks in general

Nice campground. Washrooms well maintained. Decent trails to hike. Relatively quiet in the evening when we were there. Suprisingly no signage to the washrooms or outhouse, so it's quite easy to get lost to and from. Why they don't have signs is beyond me.

Sari Crowe

Had a great time last weekend. Lots of privacy at all the sites, clean comfort stations and polite staff! Didn't end up swimming but the beach looked great and the water wasn't that cold. The wood they sell isn't dry enough, so the fire wasn't that amazing at night. Lots of cute active raccoons in the area! Stayed in Huron, it was perfect.

One of Ontario's nicest provincial parks....been going here for the past 25 years. Private lots, great bike trails, clean facilities. It is my "happy place".

Lisa K

Large & private sites. Nice trails. Really like this park.

Jane Burger

Awesome , just love this park. For us it is a short drive , it has beautiful trails, boardwalks, the restrooms are very clean and still have hot water, unusual for this time of year, campsites are very nice and its the first provincial park that doesn't store its campfire wood in the lake. Lol. Nice n dry

James

Private sites. Dump stations are missing connectors on the hoses. Beach is nice but not maintained as well as Bon Echo. Camp site Roads are a little narrow compared to other campground. Tails are great for exploring.

Josh Josh

Beutiful park with many trails. Some trails will even take uou out of the park, through crown land and you can walk via trail to multiple towns such as Port Elgin and Saugeen Shores. The park has a visitor center which has many free events, and a park store for fresh icecream and bike rentals. The park has a very strict recycling system and not the cleanest garbage dump area. I have spotted deer here and the park usually has a bear warning but have not come across the bear thankfully.

Steve Desaulnier

Great camping with lots of variety in sites. Good hiking and open year round. Came in late September and park was clean, and staff were friendly.

Jack Kelly

Beautiful provincial park. Varied terrain gives a visitor a chance to see a wide variety of wildlife. The birding is outstanding! Very nice campgrounds. Helpful knowledgeable staff. Come see it for a day or a week- you will not be disappointed!

Lawrence Lynch

Great campground for anyone. Lots of private campsites with an exceptional trail system connecting the entire park. We biked for hours without concern for cars. Park is well cared for with no signs of overuse. Interpretive centre is active with many programs suitable for children to adults. Water and beach is great. I wasn't sure there would be much beach this year but there was lots of clean sand. Nice bteaze at night and wonderful sunsets.

Bekah Mantel

I've been going here for years. With lots of trails, lovely beaches, and spacious yet private sites it is a wonderful park!

Sylvie Brind Amour

Spent 5 wonderful days at this beautiful campground. Campsites are spacious and private. Quietest Provincial Park I've been to so far and one of my favorite. Nice biking trails and loved the rocky shoreline. The only downside as with most parks is the distance to the electrical post. Highly recommended.

John Maier

Just left the campground. Had a great few nights and was impressed with the privacy! The site was big and private with good gravel and drainage. The showers are older but nice. Another great thing is that they have double sites that are together for camping with friends and family. The Park Store lacked character and the campers beach was pretty cool but not the best for little kids. Overall, it is a great park!

Daph Ho

Great and big park. The ash wood campgrounds are very private and quiet. The bike rental is very very limited and the staff at the park stores are not the most helpful ones, but overall it is a good experience.

Jennifer L.

Love the park and the beautiful located playground.

Bonnie Desjardins

Arrival was beautiful...weekend was sunny and fresh...great park!!

Cam MacDonald

By far our favorite provincial park in southern Ontario that we have been too

julie harrison

This is the best place for camping sites and beautiful beach

Beaver, deer, birds, beaches, trails...

Andrea Jordan

The staff and park hosts were all friendly and great. Clean bathrooms. Tidy sites. The Tower hike was great. Even our 4 yr old managed it. A bit muddy at the end, bit that's part of the fun. Big dog beach area! I love all the boardwalk trails. And surprisingly few mosquitoes for how wet the park is. It was a bit cool when we visited though. This is a great park to bring your bike to.

Nicole Rouse

Love love love this park. My favourite part is feeding the birds and watching turtles at Turtle Pond.

Sherri Cooper

Now this is a wonderful place. The beach is amazing. The sites are big and you don't feel like your sleeping on top of your neighbor. If you like to hike/bike the pathes are wonderful. The sunsets are wonderful if you head out to the beach ????

During a weekend in Kincardine, we drove up to MacGregor Point Provincial Park for some day hiking and swimming. The entrance fees were reasonable. The park staff seemed knowledgeable and were helpful, and took the time to help us navigate the map of the park and points of interest, therein. It was a very sunny and warm day, and there were some mosquitoes in the park, but we found that as we moved along the trails, if we kept moving, it wasn't so bad. The trail that we explored wound around a wetland and featured an observation tower and a bird hide. We witnessed some of the diversity of the ecological environments that exist in the park and benefitted from the storyboards throughout the park that detail some of the factors that make this place special and important. The panoramic view of the wetland from the observation tower was the perfect location for bird watching, listening to animal calls and appreciating the diversity of the park. The bird hide was an excellent reprieve from the day's heat, and also an excellent way to view birds and other wildlife. We spotted several birds, a turtle, were entertained by the frog's songs and delighted in all the butterflies that were fluttering around. It is genuinely a lovely place. The Tower Trail is a 3.5 km (return) trail. We learned that cyclists can use this trail and do! And wheelchairs can use the section of this trail between the parking lot and the observation tower. We were able to easily navigate the rest of the park, found a shady spot to have some lunch and even ventured to the 'Nipissing' area of the park for a swim in Lake Huron. We visited on a Sunday, and though there were campers in the children's play area, and on the beach, it was not crowded. There was room to lay down a towel and venture in to the water - which, on the day of our visit was enjoyable because of how warm the day had been. The camping areas seemed clean and many of the people we spoke to, who were camping there, said they enjoyed the park, and that the camp sites were nice. We found that the camp store on site was well stocked, carried many common necessities and had a very popular ice cream counter. Overall, a great day trip

JR Legault

Great park. Showers were clean and got with good pressure.

david mckay

The very best park in Ontario for family camping!

Hamant C

Great park, good clean public washrooms/ showers. Site we had was secluded enough and it appeared the other sites were too. 10 minute drive from a walmart (in port elgin) and town. The weekend we went it was nice and quiet. Boardwalk to the beach is nice. Would consider going again to the same site. Only negative review is i was hoping the beach would have been nicer. Its not horrible, but you wont be confusing it for Algonquin park beaches.

Jeffrey Halsall

Great place to camp and very quiet.

Drew Iverson

Nice park with a great campground. Our camp site was comfortable and extremely private. There are some good hiking trails and a couple of excellent dog beach / exercise areas.

Kyle

Nice quiet park. Sites are nicely wooded and provide good privacy while camping. Close to hiking and beach. Play equipment for children. Very close to Port Elgin if you want to head into town for anything or just visit the downtown.

Zach Mantel

Our family has been camping here for many years and have always loved it. Great park for biking around.a

I Had the Best beach experience in my life. If anyone is reading this review, you have to visit this place, it’s heaven on earth. I always used to see great beaches with woods on television and never thought I would have the exact same experience. There are long trails, that go deep in the woods. You can barbecue there too!! BBQ is not permitted at most places but what is the best place to do bbq than a really natural beach with forest on the back!

Lori Mcfarlane

Nice private campsites. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The beach is rocky at some points and sandy at others. We will definitely be back! One of the nicest Provincial Parks we have been to!

Alison Moffat

This place was totally amazing we loved it so much we visited 3 times on our week trip. MacGregor is absolutely gorgeous. There is a dog beach that's quite stunning. There are secluded spots along the shores for more adventurous peeps like me lol. There are lots of rocks in some of the water so bring pool shoes if you like the rocks it's great. There can be waves as this is a Point.(MacGregor Point) Still the water is crystal clear. There are also lots of trails around the park it's just so beautiful. While we were there an active bear was sighted but that was 3 weeks before and thankfully we didn't see it!!! ????????

soapie

Amazing, beautiful place! The beaches were clear and free of any litter, the water was great to swim in, and the people were quite friendly overall! One thing that would be nice is if they could install a changeroom, or some railbars in the bathrooms for you to hang your clothes while changing.

Nghia Do

Hot and humidity we was there for three days mid of August.
