As you can read, the average score it has is basically the best one, and it is founded on a high number of scores, so we may think that the assessment is quite credible. If people have bothered to value when they've done well with the service, it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to set scores when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Park is included in the category of Park.
Wooded trails, easy sloped and pea graveled. Friendly squirrels and chipmunks who panhandle for peanuts. Chick a Dees will eat black sunflower seeds from your hand. A strole along the old canal is peaceful. Its late spring 2020 and I haven't checked to see if the taco stand is open. It's a sunny spot to enjoy the tasty tacos.
Shubie park is the best off leash dog park I've been to. I'm a professional dog walker and I never have a problem bringing my pack there for hours on end. The people are amazing, mostly everyone cleans up their dog poop, no litter at all and there is little to no dog fights. I reccomand to anybody who wants to have a good time with their puppy.
My husband and I love taking our pug and beagle spaniel to shubi for walks and to get fresh air and to mingle with other fur babies and their owners. Great walking trails for off and on the leash walking and all kinds of different breeds and sizes.
Best dog walking park around, fresh snow from Monday December 17
Rented canoe for an hour. Reasonable price. Great views
This is a great park that anyone can go to. It has a dogs off-leash area and it has an on leash area and there are lots of birds, chipmunks and squirrels.
Lovely park with lots of trails of different difficulty. The historical informative boards tell you the story of the canal. There are lots of little animals for kids to enjoy their walk with you. The park is accessible from Dartmouth crossing or from the residential street down below.
Such a nice clean park, I love renting the kayaks, swimming, and going for walks here! Amazing for dates, kiddos or just getting out of the house
Love shubie park we go there every day off. Wish it was maintained as well as point pleasant. Even so, shubie always wins over other off leash parks in HRM
Great place for walking and enjoying nature and the seasons
Shubie is one of the best places to bring your dog for a walk in HRM. It offers an extensive off-leash trail that borders Banook lake, where your dog if he’s inclined, can go for a swim. Owners will love it too, providing the best of what Dartmouth has to offer in terms of scenic trails.
We had a great walk along side of the small stream that leads to the lake. Quite pleasant walk on the trail.
Lovely park to bring your family and friends(fur family included!). The park is tucked off of the “main” road. Some googling and you’ll find it. There are a couple of food places nearby before heading to the park. Which I would recommend asking to use their washrooms as unfortunately the public washroom is not ideal in the park(at least as or me writing the review). Shubie is accessible via bus for those curious, yay! They have some on and off leash trails for the dogs. Which is helpful when your socializing your dog or have a dog that loves people but is wary of other dogs. So far everyone going on these trails have obeyed the signs which you love to see. Bonus if you don’t have a dog(obviously ask before petting) you get to make tons of fur friends! The wild life(squirrels, birds, ducks, etc) are actually quite friendly and pretty much come up to you looking for food. Make sure to read the signs regarding feeding the wild life.
Many great trails, kayaking, Canoeing, swimming, camping, and nature. Awesome place to spend time.
I absolutely love this park in the fall. Lots to take in,very relaxing
Great place to walk. I don't have a dog but lots of people walk there dogs here.
It's a nice place to walk, there's beautiful scenery and is teaming with ducks plus a lot of people walk their dogs.
Best place in Dartmouth to walk the pooch!
Beautiful park! Great for family walks, stroller friendly, dog friendly. There are bathrooms.
A beautiful trail system. We love walking our dogs here.
Cars where parked along side of the sidewalk and where blocking the ramps for wheelchairs and walkers along with people who are mobility challenged. There are only two ramps at either end of the parking lot. Would like to see a few more ramps put in close to the stairs that are there. Also how about having some handicapped parking spaces added close to the sidewalk so that people who are disabled don't have to walk across the bust parking lots. People are also parking along the driveway where it says for drop off of canoes or kayaks 15 min time limit but many are just parking there for hours while they are out on the water. Maybe some enforcement is needed so that they are not blocking the limited ramps that are there. I had to climb down off the sidewalk because a car was parked right on top of the only available ramp at the far end of the parking lot. Let's make Shubie Park more accessible for everyone so that we can all enjoy it during these trying times. Thanks.
Great park with a section for off leash dog walking! Dogs love it here and people are friendly. Well kept trails.
Got here by transit. Nice trail for relaxing walk with bonus of historical signs.
Nice, easy walking trials for family. You will experience different screens as season chànges
One of the best multi use trails in the city. Also the only off leash dog park.
Favourite off leash dog park in the city. Great for human walking, bike rides and kayaking.
Beautiful scenery, lovely place for a picnic, lots of good kayak launching points, and a lemonade booth that sells tacos!
Nice trails with benches to sit at every now and then, the beach h is great with a nice lake. There is a place where you can rent a kayak and peddle bikes
Wonderful place to do light hiking with kids! Always very clean and full of animals.
Trails are well groomed. There is a dog's off leash area!
Beautiful park, maintained well and lots of different walking trails.
What a fantastic park!!! Tons of squirrels and birds, and lots of friendly dogs for my pupper to run around with. Beautiful trails, too, and of course, the trees are amazing this time of year.
Its my favorite park! I love a lot ☺️
Lovely walking trails I haven't been to since I was a kid. Remember feeding black-capped chickadees and squirrels here. Bring some sunflower seeds and peanuts, they'll come right to your hand! Great for walking/running/pets as well since they have an offleash area. Plenty of lakeside picnic tables too!
Nice walking trails
Nice place for a walk near the water. Only thing is in certain parts you can hear the highway through the trees.
Great place to go with a dog or just for a long walks to empty your mind.
Great place to unwind! Lots of trails to choose from.
A great place to bike or walk . Beautiful scenery .
Very nice park, tho hard to find it's way without a phone
Great place to hike and run
Lovely trails, offleash area for dogs, bird watching
Beautiful place for every aged people. Trail. Water. Dogs.
Beautiful trails, peaceful. A great place to walk, run. Really enjoy it
This scenic park is bustling with nature, featuring both long and short trails to suit your mood and abilities. There are both on and off-leash areas so feel free to bring your pets. The park is wheelchair accessible with a few different parking lots to gain access. Picnic tables overlooking the water and a couple beach spots make for a nice getaway.
Great trails, nice place for a walk
Beautiful park lots of great paths lots of beautiful nature.
Shubie is a well kept park and great for a walk in nature within the city. There are also well marked off leash sections for those who love to walk or jog along side of their dog. Bicycles are also permitted on sections of the trails but need to give right of way to pediatricians. With patience you might be able to find some black capped chickadees that will come and light on your hand. Overall, a great place to introduce younger children to wildlife and nature without leaving the city. The only downside is that because it is in the city, it can get busy at times. When it does get busy finding parking can be an issue so you might have to park outside of the park on the side of the road and walk in. It is still worth exploring, but don't expect to have the park to yourself. Since there is no half stars I gave a 5 star, but really feel it is more like a 4.5 out of 5 just because of how busy it can get which is really unavoidable being inside the city.
Gorgeous park for a quiet walk, or alternatively, half the park is off leash for your doggos
It's a beautiful place to walk in the woods with squirrels climbing right up on your foot. Have to take a treat next time I go.
My dogs and I absolutely love this park. Met a lot of awesome people and dogs here:-)
Beautiful place with easy trails.
Lovely park in the city where you feel far from the city!! The trails are well kept and the park is full of friendly squirrels and chipmunks. There is also a cute pond with ducks where you can bring your own canoe or kayak or rent one! The locks are well kept and very interesting. Last but not least the off leash part of the park that sits on the Mic Mack lake. My to go place to be in nature in a matter of minutes from Dartmouth!
We didn't have our dog with us, but we intend on visiting with him soon. Autumn is amazing here!
Large park located close to Dartmouth - Loads on offer including bike hire and kayaking - An amazing place to explore and pic-nic
Nice trails and even have a washroom at the main entrance.
Should we park Great Park for picnics walking around looking at nature animals occasionally seeing deer squirrel hummingbirds walking area for dogs off leash
It is a beautiful place to be with nature. We were able to meet squirrels and many kinds of birds.
Always love the trails here and many photo opportunities
Best park in Halifax. We go there to walk our dog. There are off-leash sections.
A beautiful spot for an autumn walk.
Beautiful park in the city! Lots of beautiful trails with small wildlife (birds, squirrels, chipmunks). Lots of signage. It would be very helpful if the signs had a "You are Here" indicator. It is quite difficult to determine where you are on some of signs as you at a crossroads spot in the woods. Otherwise a beautiful park for all ages.
This is an excellent place to bring dogs. The scenery is gorgeous, I really have fun walking over the little wooden bridge and watching the water fall. My lab, Maple, loves coming here. It's busiest on Saturdays which I find to be a good thing for my dog. She really enjoys playing here, and is always super tired by the end. Even if you don't have a dog, it's really nice to walk through and see the beautiful nature.
One of the best places to hike, walk you dog or just to enjoy the wonders nature has to offer. I've been going to Shubie ever since I was a kid and I always loved it. If you live in Dartmouth/Halifax and you haven't been to Shubie yet, I highly recommended it! :D
Wonderful park. Lots of great trails and lakes.
It's a pretty place with great views that keep coming while walking on the trail. It has benches after every minute of a walk. The good part is they warn you about dogs off leash section of the park.
They take better care of the trails here than any other park in greater Halifax, and continue to do so right thru the winter.
Great spot for a walk with the dog park there the dog can run off leash as well
Great place to walk your dog(s). Very clean trimmed trails and people pick up after their dogs. There is an off leash and an on leashed section which is awesome. Lots of beautiful scenery and small waterfalls.
Great trails, museum, summer cafe, canoe rentals, dog 'off leash' area and lots of squirrels :) Lovely historic spot to learn about the canal
Wonderful place. Great for family walks. Much more activity now with Pokemon Go being so active.
The park is beautiful for walking dogs offleash! We have three little fur babies and they just love trotting along the path. Great views, and lots of activities like food and kayaking in the river.
One of the best parks and trail systems in the city! Beautiful trails and views, ya get to see wildlife. The park and lake Charles trail are great for walking and biking. If ya like off trail hiking there's some good trails there if ya look for them. Also a great place to go for a row in the water, they have canoe and kayak rentals there during the summer if ya don't have you're own. The canal is a great paddle and lake Charles and MicMac are also fun. I usually end up walking, hiking, biking or paddling at least once a week through Shubie. They also have a great off leash area for you to walk your dog's which includes an off leash beach on Lake MicMac. I haven't swam at the beach on Lake Charles in years so I'm not sure how it is, but both lakes have decent spots to swim if ya wanna cool off while on the trail. If ya haven't hiked to the Waverley end of Lake Charles trail yet, I recommend doing it
Fantastic, great paths and very quiet
A lovely park with plenty of walking trails. Dog friendly. Views of the waterway and even kayak rentals available! A yummy little canteen business is now there too so you can nibble or sip on something while enjoying the great outdoors.
A beautiful park. It tends to be fairly quiet. The paths are well maintained. Lots of wildlife to see.
Beautiful park. Perfect place to go walking or take the entire family for a getaway. Interesting history on the park. Lots of birds too.
Great trails practically in the middle of the city.
Beautiful this time of year wish I could've stayed longer
Love this park. Great for walking, running and dogs.
Nice for my sweetheart to share her nature trails with me.
Love it, really nice naturists feel.
Really fantastic park for all ages. Only way to improve it would be to get it included as a park that has maintenance. Honestly, it would make a great national park. It has a huge amount of historical significance to enable it to become one.
Very nice place to go for a walk !
Beautiful suburban park with lots of water, woods, and trails
Absolutely love bringing out dog here. Lots of paths of varying difficulty, lots of woods, and the beach area is great in summer. Best times to come seem to be early morning or around 4 if you want lots of other dogs around.
Always a great place for a walk with the puppies!!! Well maintained and so much fun!
Great place to chill and have some fun.
Nice park with long trails. Close to Dartmouth crossing too so after shopping it's a great place for a walk
Best park in the city. Dog Park area lots of wooded paths and it connects to other green belts.
Beautiful park, with great paths and lovely creek. Perfect for kayak.
Great place to take your dogs. Offers and off leash walk area and a place for dogs to swim! Beautiful place to walk all year long!
Shubie Park has been a favourite place of mine for years--from walks along the canal seeing ducks, chipmunks, dragonflies (or are they damselflies?), and the occasional heron, to cycling trails and enjoying nature, I always feel refreshed after a visit here!
Beautiful park with great off leash dog trails
Great Plaxe for a Walk or Hike even a Bike Ride .
I have been coming to Shubie Park for over 30 years. It is a great place to camp, hike, walk, paddle, fly kites.... whatever you like. And, being minutes from downtown Halifax or Dartmouth makes it great for impromptu visits. Bring sunflower seeds in the winter and chickadees will literally land on your hand to eat them!
Great place to walk, take in nature or run your dog. The only downside is that you can hear traffic from the nearby highway pretty much everywhere.
Amazing place to go white the famíly, take a walk and a pic nic.
Trails everywhere! You could spend the whole day here exploring. Check out the deep cut. Please bring nuts for the squirrels and blujays is much appreciated by them.
Nice large park in the city with plenty of walking trails and different things to see. You can also rent a kayak and paddle along the old canal. Great place to see squirrels, chipmunks, and ducks (and of course ducklings in the spring). Only complaints would be how busy the park can get and it can be hard to find if you don't know where it is.
An amazing place to take dogs. Huge, beautiful area to walk with your best friends (dogs). Easy walking, paths are great. Lovely views.
A gem of nature and history in the city. This is a great place for a walk/ run. Dog owners still need to learn those little plastic bags go in the garbage, not left on the ground; why bother?
Fun place to go! We caught the last day of the season and there was campfire and marshmallows! Great time! Looking forward next year!
Love this place. Great park for walking around, taking dogs, or even just dropping into for a while. You can also bring your bikes and cycle around the very large park. They have some interesting partner businesses too. There is a kayak rental company where you can rent kayaks and paddle down the river. There is also a canteen (Lemon Dogs) where you can get tacos and other yummy eats. Just a great place to have in the city.
This is a little gem right in the city. It’s a great place to run, walk, take photos, and it’s also a super place to walk your dog!
It is a wonderful place to have your dogs off leash. Beautiful views, great park all year round.
Just love our beautiful park close to the city. People are smiling and dogs are too! Feel good place!
A lot of squirrels and ducks along walk. An excellent historical park, live the history and nature here.
Drove from the valley to check out the new pump track. Got there early and it was Packed! Not surprising after riding, it is second to none. Well done!
A large number of trails, many suitable for less experienced hikers and persons with some mobility issues. Special canoe and kayak launch warf designed for wheelchair access.
Very beautiful place to spend a day with family
SHubie Park is such a pretty place to go for a stroll and get a few Fitbit steps in! There are Locks and Canals connecting to lakes surrounding the area. There are also some off leash areas for dogs to get excercise as well (if you have a puppy or two)! The paths are easy with no hills and simple to navigate. Free parking.
Great for short or long walks with all the different trails.
Love this park. Great place to take my dog for a walk.
It's a nice park.
What a nice place to spend some time. Rented a 2 person kayak and loved it!
I have loved walking in Shubie Park since I was young, and now I take my kids here.
Fall is always the best at Shubie ????
Great trails for walking cycling and winter x country or snowshoeing. The canal has plenty of history and is a nice kayak/ sup into Lake Charels
Great park for dogs. There are on and off-leash sections and a dog beach.
I greatly enjoy the variety of trails here! There's short circuits for casual and beginner walkers, there's longer trails for more experienced walkers and several in-between trails and loops! There's also a bunch of wildlife/plantlife to take in, as well as lovely scenery and historic spots along the way. Events take place at this location on a fairly regular basis as well and it's close to a camp site. It's an excellent location to come spend time at at almost every time of year, but late spring and summer are the best to me!
Awesome place to enjoy with family & friends. Special place for your dogs. Duper natural views with peaceful aroma. You can't stop your hands from clicking pics just like me.. ;)
Great place. Only been in Winter and it was still lovely. Great walking tracks.
Great park with lots of trails on background of historic canals that connected Halifax Harbour to Bay of Fundy
There are a lot of outdoor activities to do around here, mainly watersports such as kayaking, canoeing, and so on. You can also swim, and the water is amazingly cool and fresh. The scenery is beautiful, and a plus for the camping site as well. Overall, this is a great place to stay at.
My pup says it's the best place on erf.
I used to like walking in the park. It's beautiful all year round. Let's dig tunnels underneath the highways to find more nature over near burnside and over near Dartmouth crossing. Yeah Tunnels under the highway to another section of wilderness. Let's build the park bigger and all lubed up so to speak If we the community see progress as Locamotive in the future we should learn a little about digging tunnels first. Let's expand shubie park under the highways for practice
This is a nice nice park that I didn’t know existed it has nice hiking trails for miles and miles . There are place to sit next to the water and Lakes and streams, there’s even a beach ,campground . And places to go cross country skiing in the winter .it’s a lovely park for anyone to enjoy. And it’s so close to all of your local needs like Cosco McDonald’s IKEA bass pro shop and the list goes on and on If you like this review give me a thumbs up :)
This is definitely a great place to take you kids , your pets for walks, leisure activities, feed thr ducks, fishing, kayaking/canoeing, if you just want to chill and relax for a minute, take I some fresh air, some scenery, go camping, choices are endless, just be on alert because it is heavily wooded so wild animals may be present but other than that it's the place to go to get some time to yourself.
Great spot for kayaking!!
Great for families with (and without) kids and pets!!
Great park.
Can't even get into the place the parking is so bad.
Great place to go for a walk or even rent canoes/kayaks
Very nice place! The colours in this fall so beautiful ????
This place is so peaceful! There are so many ducks, and friendly dogs that'll come up to you every so often. It's a lovely place
This park is gem, big, alot of trails here, lakes...the best in HRM
This park was great for beginner hikers and dog lovers! It has small and large paths to follow and markers so you know you're not lost! Also bathrooms outside the building so they're accessible even after the building is closed :)
Trails are great and well maintained for a walk, or bike ride with the whole family. The new pump track is fantastic for all ages.
Great t walk by itself, with someone, or with well behaved dogs without leash.
Kayaking, paddle boarding, canoe, hiking and a beech. Of leash park nearby. It's a full stop spring / summer destination.
Amazing park. Perfect for walking the dog. Can't wait to go again.
Nice peaceful place within the city.
There were very cute doggos, and a duck who's beak looked like an angry dog
The moon was out and full. Super bright. I went at night with someone who I've recently found a connection with and was from my past. We listened to music, enjoyed each other company and bonded over our experiences and similarities as empathetic people. It was fairly cold out but refreshing. I easily shivered and had to go back inside.
Great park to have in the city. Nice variety of trails, mostly along the lakes. Great for hiking and biking.
Love walking through the park
The park is nice but what I believe is the main dock for getting in and out of boats is filthy. It is almost like someone painted the dock with bird poop.
Great place to walk with family and friends. Lots of ducks to see.
Love walking my dog there, just wish other dog walkers would be more diligent about cleaning up after their dogs
Favourite place to hike and kayak in HRM, the paths are nicely marked and it’s a great spot for to take the family.
Great place to walk and take in nature and watch the ducks. Always some friendly dogs there too.
One of the best parks in the Halifax Regional Municipality with many trails, including the Trans Canada trail cutting through it. It has an off-leash dog friendly area, as well as the historic Shubie Canal running through it between Lake Micmac and Lake Charles. The visitor centre is located near a restored lock on the canal and for added convenience Shubie Campground is located on the northern tip on the southern tip of Lake Charles. A must see!
great trails
Love the off leash trail for my pups! Swimming area is great.
A beautiful spot and an awesome off leash dog park. Can be really busy sometimes.
Best park for walks and doggie parks!!
Good place for Kayaking ????
Love the park full of dog friendly people
A great friendly place to bring your dog to socialize....and squirrels.
Great park for everyone and special trails for dogs off-leash
Love this park. Lots of trails and people around so feels safe to walk
Love Shubie and our palm tree!!
My family visits this place every single week! We love love love it! Watch out for the crazy cute puppies though : )
Beautiful park for a walk, lots of wildlife squirrels chipmunks, lots of different birds, we even saw snakes. Boat hire swimming. Absolutely brilliant. Definitely worth a visit.
Love this spot. Wonderful to go for a leisurely walk, long or short run, or to follow the trails on a bike ride. Watch out for dog poop in the leash off areas, though most people are pretty good at picking up after their dogs.
Lots of trails, wildlife and a dog beach/dog trails. History of the canal locks interesting. Canteen there as well.
Such a beautiful place, I went kayaking here, it was a great experience.
Relaxing and fun. Great walking trails. Friendly atmosphere. Lots of squirrels and chipmunks.
Amazing, clean and well maintained park! Much loved part of our family sunday
It's a great place to stay in touch with the natural beauty of this region, as well as being in touch with some of the history of the area ! ????????????
I already love this park but the dogs are just make it perfect!!! ❤️
The wonders od a wilderness in the heart of a city!
Absolutely LOVE shubie park.. I have been walking my dogs here for years. Multiple parking entrances accessible from waverley rd or from Dartmouth Crossing. From one end of Shubie park to the complete other is about 2 1/2 hours of walking or just shy of 9km one way maybe less maybe more. Also multiple beaches to swim from ( however right now and has been for a while is a blue/green algae warning so not suggested ). Lots of squirrels and wild life if you are a fan of feeding squirrels or chickadee birds definetly a go to spot! Very friendly people all threw there, with lots of dogs and your odd bicyclist thoroughfare.. Again if you are a dog advocate or a dog owner definetly a good spot lots of room for the dog to run wild off leash and lots of friendly dogs and more then enough trails to keep u busy/walking! Would definetly recommend to anybody looking to get out and get active ! Beautiful trails !!!
Shubie park is a gem of a park overlooked in HRM. Long beautiful winding trails, great accessibility, and lake access make this a wonderful place for a stroll, a run, a bike ride, and/or a swim.
The paths are well maintained, excellent views with access to the lakes. A great place for a stroll. The dog loves it. Of leash available. Usually enough parking.
A great relaxing park to enjoy! Super clean and well kept. Definitely a great place to enjoy within the hustle of city life. Seems to be a big park, never got around to going through all the roads within it. Tons of wildlife to be seen, and bringing bird seed the birds will land in your hand sometimes.
Love brining the dogs here. So many other dogs for them to interact with
Very nice place to walk around and definitely a beautiful short cut if you want to walk from there to Micmac mall or Dartmouth crossing
Lovely place for a quiet walk
Love it so much. Very peaceful even when busy. There's an area for dogs to be offleash but still very clean.
The park was absolutely beautiful peaceful and quiet .. refreshing air and good for Morning walks
A very long trail and also has an area to go kayaking. You can rent some kayaks there too.
Nice to get away and have family time.me and my daughter.
It's a nice park, lots of wildlife. Only downside for me is people feed the squirrels peanuts and being allergic to peanuts it stresses me out sometimes considering there are shells everywhere.
Beautiful park to get the dogs out for a stroll and some fresh air.
Just a great area, so easy to take boats to the water!
Lovely park, plenty of paths and hill, quite ideal for walking for exercise or even for fun, plus the park is filled with history in the form of the old boat locks
Beautiful park, tucked away in Dartmouth, allows you to get a little closer to nature, surprisingly close to home.
I think this is the best dog park I have ever been to.
Lovely place to hike or even walk you dog (on selected areas)
Great day in the park. Not a lot of visitors, so it was easy to distance. Charlie my squirrel friend welcomed his walnut treat
Great walking trails, ideal for dog owners
This is my favorite park in HRM. The dog park is the best. Great for exploring and feeling like you're far away from town while still being close by. Great for a swim or a walk.
Fantastic spot to bike, hike or head over to the off lease dog area with their own beach.
Great park for walks, kayaking or canoeing.
Amazing place to bring your dog's. MAKE SURE there dog friendly. I've heard and even seen some horrible events with rescues and other dogs.
Excellent park trail, main circuit trail is about 2.2 Km. Full of (friendly) squirrels and ducks!
Had the annual Crohns and Coltis walk today even in the rain it's a beautiful spot
Love this place! The animals are curious and you follow along the trail. Lots of tree coverage and trails to explore.
Been coming here since I was a toddler, and now I take my toddler here too! Love Shubie Park
Such a beautiful park! And the squirrels follow you around
My family and I had a great time at shubie park today!
Love Shubie dog park, a great opportunity to be free with your dogs. Trails are excellent to walk on.
My second time here, just cuz it’s too far from my home. but if I lived in Dartmouth I would love to go there everyday!!! Love the breeze there and the view was so gorgeous af???? really enjoy the trail there! Would def go back again soon!!!
Great historical park... Wonderful off lease dog park on the water... Excellent trails accessible all year round
Both a great walking trail system, a beach with lifeguard protection and campground mean this wonderful park has it all from a short stay or a longer one... Convenient and beautiful!
Beautiful trails, lovely waters, great place!
Took the grandkids to the bump park. Kids loved it..Kids were learning to ride their bikes, also a great place for scooters/ skateboards.
Great place to walk and sightsee. Enjoy some nature and learn some local history here
There's a lovely, big off leash area for dogs, running through the forest and down to the lake.
Beautiful park, only saw a tiny bit of it but the canals are beautiful.
Not bad for a park in Halifax/Dartmouth. It's small. The longest trail is not a loop but straight one way and straight back. Right next to the highway (granted it's up a steep slope, so doesn't interfere too much). Many dogs, which can be a nuisance if you're running. The lake is nice, though.
This is a piece of wilderness in the middle of urbanization. There are many places where squirles live in the HRM, but Shubie Park looks like their biggest population.
Great place for a walk. Skate down the canal during the winter
The best kayaking I had. Nice experience.
Great park you can also feed the birds!
Nice park to walk around Has a food booth not to bad for a quick bite Has clean washrooms in the main building and has another smaller building with washrooms
A great little oasis in HRM. Beautifully maintained walking trails through the woods along the river. A great place to walk and unwind. The Interpretation Centre is well worth the visit. This little known canal project was quite something in its day!
Great place to walk with the family and dogs! Remember some bird seed as some of the birds will land in your hand and eat. Especially fun for the kids!
Great place to get outside and enjoy nature.
One of the best people and dog parks in the city.
Love this park. Great for walking and peace and quiet.
Biking. Hiking. Walking your dog, Or pot belly pig, Or your child/children. Sweet spot amongst nature. You can choose a long route or a short one.
Beautiful urban park right in the heart of historic Dartmouth.
Lovely well maintained paths. Lots of beautiful, well behaved dogs. Great way to get some fresh air and enjoy outdoors. Can canoe here and playground at campground too.
Beautiful maintained walking trails and friendly people. Love the squirrel feeders.
This is a great park with a large section to take your dog.
Beautiful walking trails, plenty of wildlife sightings and a lovely little beach. Great for kids.
What a wonderful park with fantastic paths and a beach and excellent prices for renting canoes and kayaks.
Great place to go for a walk. Beautiful scenery and nature.
Perfect place to walk your dog or have a nice stroll with he family!
Amazing place to take our pup for a walk! Going to try kayaking at some point!
Lovely park! Lots of shade for the hot summer days and a place for them to swim. Highly recommend.
I live close by, so this is the park where I go for my daily walks. It is big enough that I can take a different route every day of the week. There are lots of different areas and it connects to the TransCanada Trail so you can walk all the way to the Harbour or further. It is very dog friendly and a lot of the park is an "Off Leash" dog area, so watch the signs if you don't like lots of dogs. As well this park has the remains of the old canal system running across the province, but they are in sad shape compared to the canals in England.
Very pretty spot to visit and enjoy nature. Lots of walking trails, wildlife and parking.
Great walk, awesome for dogs. Lots of areas along the trail for the dogs to swim.
Great place for a family walk, hike, or bike ride! Good for all seasons. Lots of garbage cans and benches around as well.
Great place to walk, kayak and watch the ducks with family and friends. We met some lovely people too. We loved the off-leash dog beach too - the entire beach was covered with small stones and the water was clear and fresh....so our dog had a great swim and didn't get all sandy! win-win :)!
Excellent place to visit, please avoid on rainy days and weekends. Lot of parking slots available
Good area to walk your dog off-leash!
It's a great place to take the family and the pooch for a walk, get out and have fresh air, see birds and squirrels.
Amazing park for dog walking and spending a day at the beach.
Great walking paths and lots of different routes.
Love this place and everytime I come her I seem to always find new trails
Beautiful park, great place to take dogs as the off-leash dog section is quite large.
Great for dogs, especially the off Leash area and beach.
We love this park for running kayaking from the canal to lake Charles
Love the place and its so huge..Amazing lake for kayaking and swimming...
Beautiful trails....love the off leash dog areas
Such a great park .. I hope the lake doesn't get full of bacteria again this summer.. That would be sad for the dogs.
Fantastic bike trails. Great place to get some exercise.
Fun for all ages lots of birds
Such a beautiful park and so much fun hanging out with other people and their dogs. Its a fun, interesting place for the fogs to explore the woods, chase squirrels, and fetch balls or sticks from the lake.
Very beautiful park with ling walking trails along Shubenacadie canal. At the end of the trail there is a supervised small beach where you can have swim. There is a changing room too. In summer months, you can rent canoes and padel along the canal. You can still see old water locks along the canal
Nice place for a quiet walk. Also has off leash area for dogs.
Beautiful park to walk through. There is a large off leash dog section.
Best park in Dartmouth, nay, in all of HRM. Lots of trails which are great for different durations of walk/jog/cycle. There is an off leash portion of the park which is always packed with dog folk. In the summer you can swim at the beach and you cant rent kayaks and canoes to travel down the historic Shubie Canal.
Just a beautiful park to get some fresh air and exercise (for you and your dog)!
Cute little lake to attend in the campground, and they also have an ice cream stand.
Very nice an well taken care of trail. Beautiful for photography in the fall.
Great place for a walk or just to relax Check it out
Great park, lots of green spaces (when it's green), great for dogs. Plenty of canals, very pretty for walks, but mild trails.
Great spot for a walk
place to get away from it all and take your doggies and so much more beautiful
This is a great local park. Perfect for going for a walk or a trail run.
Excellent trail/park to bring the kids
They're starting to cut the brush on the sides of the trail thank God for that I know you might be able to see around the corners
Lovely park, great for a walk, a nice relaxing day out. Will try out the camp ground soon !
Very pleased with the park. Great trails and close to everything. Highly recommend. We will return!!
Awesome beautiful paths with lots of history
One of my favorite spots in the city. Great after work walk or jog.
Great trail system with lots of history.
Beautiful park to walk in any season. Bring your doggie and enjoy the fresh air, the sounds of the birds. Just go and feast your eyes
Beautiful park. Squirrels are very aggressive. Wear long pants and don't try to feed them from your hand, they didn't get the memo about not biting the hand that feeds them.
Love this park for a little stroll or energetic walk with the dogs. My dogs give this place five gold stars.
Great place with the kids and dogs for a walk. Great time by all. Only thing that I'd like to suggest is for people to abide by the signs and not feed bread to the ducks.
We fed squirrels, chickadees and pigeons by hand. They love peanuts and sunflower seeds.
Beautiful park on Micmac Lake. My dog loves it here as she is allowed off leash and gets to interact with other dogs.
I loved feeding the birds! It was an amazing experience!
Best place to take my dog!
Great for those who love to walk, breath natural and connect with nature. Lots of attractive squirrels to entertain you. Tracks are well maintained and people usually have their dogs on leash and respect others. It's very clean and natural.
Such an enjoyable place to take my grandchildren and daughter its a day I love spending time with them
Lovely place for a walk through the woods next to a stream or lake. Complete with canals an interpretive ctr and of course ducks and squirrels. Beautiful oasis getaway even though it is in the city.
Beautiful park in Darthmouth. Quiet and pet friendly.
Great trails and awesome dog park
Always a great place. Lots of history and beautiful walking trails.
Really nice park. We enjoyed the trails very much and the wildlife was great to watch! We wished that we had brought some bird seed, as we someone else have, in order to feed the squirrels. There is a 'Dog Off Leash' area, which is enjoyed both as a dog and people beach, and another swim area specifically for humans. There is also a place to rent canoes and kayaks.
A quiet woodland park along an old canal now used fur recreational paddling. Dog park. Freshwater beach,
Shubie is so peacefull and beautiful. My family loves to take our dog there and he absolutely loves it. Some sections of the park are off leash (they are very well marked). Would definitely recommend for anyone who wants a nice stroll through some trees.
I have been there a few times for cycling and once canoeing. Very nice place and also has a local seller of fresh lemonade drinks. Highly recommend.
Beautiful park, and one of our favourites for taking the dog for a walk off-leash.
It's our favourite ♥️
Variety of beautiful scenery nwn
Great park though be aware some areas are off leash dog areas.
One of the most beautiful off leash areas I've ever seen.
Great place to go for runs or walks with your kids, pets or by yourself, tons of shade on sunny and rainy days and a rewarding beach to cool off at the end with clear refreshing water
Best free off leash place in the city! Our dogs are used to being off leash so when we come to the city it's a great place for them to burn some energy. The trails are wide and very scenic as well.
Beautiful park to visit during the Autumn
Shubie park is great to take walks, bring the dog, run and bike. There a ducks on the pond and squirrels aplenty, so this park is great!
What a beautiful park. A great place to go for a walk or just to go and think ????
Great place for a family / pet/ Sunday walk* Lots of well maintained walkways. Also a great place to take some beautiful pictures.
Beautiful trails for an easy walk or run. Gorgeous lake views! Loved it.
A wonderful light hike right in Dartmouth. Full of very tame mallards, chickadees and squirrels, plus a few other species that are shyer. Chickadees will eat seed right from your hand.
Seen a squirrel and a duck get in a scrap here so be careful. Not sure who won... I got out of there as fast as I could. The ducks are quack heads and the squirrels are nuts.
Great place for a quiet walk along the old Shubie canal.
Great Place to walk and snack, Good fresh air
Great place to walk in Dartmouth. Lots of great pupperoos here as well! Woof!
Great place to walk your dog. Nice long off-leash path which is great too. Usually takes about 30 mins to complete the loop.
A great and beautiful place to take your dog to socialize with other off-leash dogs.
Nice to trail
Beautiful place, go here.
First time going there. It's a beautiful spot! The kayak rental place requires you to book in advance, which is definitely something to keep in mind!
Beautiful park, great place to bring the dog for a walk or your family!!
My all time favorite place to walk. I love that the scenery is natural and not pruned up for looks.
Nice park been going there since I was a kid. My son's highlight was the lost and found box
The best park in dartmouth all year round. My favourite place to walk and contemplate. Would reccommend for family and adults.
This is a nice park but what I'm looking forward to most the for them to complete the connector to Waverley Village.
This park is really exceptional for walking my dog. Especially with the off-leash section that she loves. I have never been anywhere the same and I love meeting all the other dogs on our walks.
Very pleasant place for kayaking and canoeing. The weekdays are not that busy. Enjoy observing ducks and squarrels.
What an amazing park! right in (or like, on the edge of) the city! we had a picnic and a great nature walk and say so many ducks! was fantastic
Beautiful walking trail. Love the chipmunks that surround you as you walk. If you love nature this one is a must
Love the off leash trails for dogs. So pretty! Also, wonderful trails for walking, running, and biking. The pump track is also wonderful for bikes, scooters, skateboards, and wheelchairs. ☺️
Love this place! Good for kayaking, swimming and even walking!
It's a beautiful park. Great for jogging or walking.
Great spot to take the dogs off leash!
Great place to walk your dog, just down the road from 9 locks brewing, walk up your thrust
Great place for a nice walk that has plenty of waterfront views. Highly recommend for dog owners!
Excellent place full of tame wildlife n walking trails n a beach ...what more could you want :) bring some peanuts for the squirrels
We've been going to Shubie for years! It's a great place to take the kids, dogs and whole family. The trails are well maintained, there's lots of space to run or walk, and the canal is beautiful any time of year. Kayaking on the canal and in the lakes during the warmer months is a must!
Beautiful park, very friendly ducks!
Awesome walking park in the city! Only issue I see is patrons taking their dogs off leash in areas clearly designated as leashed. Lovely in the summer with kayak rentals and a nice swimming beach. I love the history of the canal / locks area too. Recommend bringing sunflower seeds for feeding the fauna. The chickadees and chipmunks are so much fun. My daughter feed both at the same time! Just hold out your hand with seeds and sing "chickadee-dee-dee!". Don't feed the ducks please. Most patrons are very friendly and enjoying the fresh air and nature. Lovely streams and small water falls make an enticing sound track for your hike. The canal itself has flowing, gorgeously appealing water with a few nicely secure, well made pedestrian bridges. There are outdoor facilities by the beach and an interesting visitor centre by the main parking lot. Parking is never an issue. The retail area of Dartmouth Crossing is also connected to the park by an elevated walkway and overpass by Cineplex. Highly recommended.
Nice park, a major city attraction for residentscas well as visitors. Great for walks in nature. Features the historic canal system.
Great place to walk. They have an off leash area for pups, which is nice. Many intersecting trails. Beautiful place for a walk. Also connects to Lake banook.
Great place on a hot day! Beautiful trails on the river, always a breeze. Fishing, walk you dog on the leashed & unleashed portions of the trails. Great place for families and kids! Lots of parking!
Great trails. Lots of dog off leash areas. Great food and refreshing drinks at Lockside Canteen!
Beat place in Dartmouth.missing the kayaking there. Beach is good for kids and everyone.
Simply breath taking and awesome. As a nature lover, visiting Shubie Park makes me feel at ease.
5/5, polite birds and doggos.
Beautiful park and trail way. Been going here my whole life. Lots of wildlife
The best park in Dartmouth. From the Historic Shubenacadie Canal to the dog park, this place has a lot to offer. Great for walking, running, biking or taking your dog for a stroll. Camping ground and beach too. And in the end you can have some ice cream on the way out of the camping ground. Just love this place!
Off leash parts! Winter maintenance. Beautiful lake and little streams.
Just visited Shubie Park in Dartmouth for the first time since moving to Nova Scotia and it surprised me with what I found. Lots of hiking trails, beaches, and lots of off-leash dog trails. Even though the parking lot was full and there were cars parked all down the road, it didn’t feel busy. Maybe it’s because I came from downtown Toronto that I don’t find it busy but the park is so spread out that it’s rare to run into other people. Bring bug spray Note that the trees here have giant testicular-shaped formations on them. I haven’t seen that until I got to Nova Scotia.
Great well maintained nature trails, the leash-free area is a joy - you get to enjoy other peoples' dogs without any of the work! It's an HRM/Dartmouth gem.
This is a magical place for me as I grew up in this area and have spent so much time in this beautiful park. I've done everything you can imagine including fishing (for fun not serious) hiking, watching wildlife, bat watching at night is out of this world exciting! Perfect place to go alone or with friends on a nice summers day/evening. Highly recommend this historic park.
Lovely to go for a walk with kids, dog or alone. Especially on a nice sunny day. Lots of trails, on and off leash area, ponds, bridges and even a playground. Lots of birds, squirrels, butterflies etc. Pretty clean, lots of trash cans around.
The gem hidden in the city of lakes, Dartmouth. It has the historic canal which takes visitors back to those days when transportation on surface played a crucial role in daily life. Also the problem-solving wisdom of the people then is through the remain of the canal telling the story of greatness in human minds. On top of that, the lakes where the park trails stretch along makes the walk such a relaxing enjoyment.
Beautiful park between lakes with lots of walking/biking trails. Has a leash free zone and beach for our canine friends. Also has a good size camping park with beach just 15 minutes from downtown.
Great walking paths and great accessibility.
Awesome experience feeding wild birds from your hand..
Great walking and cycling trails. Park has an area for off leash dogs.
Love to take our pup to shubie. Good dogs on and off leash trails. Some paths are snow plowed and some aren't so bring good footwear.
I like it it a nice to walk
Great walking trails. Great for swimming and paddling in the lake.
Absolutely beautiful day kayaking. The canal is so peaceful and the lake is clean. Enjoyed looking at the homes on one side and trees and bushes on other.
Shubie park is a beautiful place for walking and canoeing. There is a field for bbq's and a great family campground. Also an historical lock to see, with so many walks. There are benches that have donated for people to sit on. A beautiful beach for dogs to go, and so many beautiful walks. Camp ground for all campers with amenities laid on, tennis court and so much more.
If you haven't followed all the trails here then you should try them its miles of trails, many lakefront walks, swimming, a ball field, the locks, access to the crossing without having to cross the dangerous highway, the pump track, camping. I love shubie this place is the best!
Off leash dog park and off leash trails. No bathroom for humans though.
Just the most beautiful park in winter and summer and spring and fall! The birds and squirrels love you when you come for a visit. Some sqirrels will wait at your feet of a shelled peanut. The chikadees love to take a sunflower from your open, still hand.
Shubie is my go to when feeling stressed over whelmed etc... It is blissfully beautifull
Enjoyed the visit, the locks, the walks,it was a great place ????
Great place to walk the dogs, however use discretion, there are always dogs off leash running around (even in on leash areas)
Great off leash dog park.
Always loved this place as a kid ...went here with Ashley and will plan on bringing the kids so they can feed the squirrels out of their hands...
Great park right in Dartmouth. Good place to get a look at what the historic Shubie Canal used to be like as well as get an idea of what the locks used to look like. Canoe and kayak rentals available during the summer. Nice trail along the canal. Access to a section of the Trans-Canada Trail which connects to the boardwalk in downtown Dartmouth.
I've been visiting this park since I was a kid. They have made a lot of improvements over the years. Lots of small wild life, well taken care of trails, off leash dog area, interpretive center, beach, the list goes on. A terrific addition to the city of Dartmouth.
Stop feeding the squirrels my dog is big enough
Amazing trail system and wildlife! The organization that does the upkeep does an amazing job. We were first time visitors to this park but will not be our last. There is a small cafe as well and trails are very accessible. Loved reading about the history of the area and canal system. Loved it.
Some dogs playing in the water. What a great fathers day
Nice little park with lots of opportunity to feed squirrels and birds and some nice archeological interest
Best place for outdoor exercise , bird watching , relaxation, dog park.
The kids love to walk the trails!! It is beautiful there!!
We love the walk around Shubie and it's got a great little beach to visit as well
Lovely place to go for a walk and enjoy the outdoors. This is with or without the kids
Truly the heart of Dartmouth! Arguably the best light walking and off-leash dog walking spot in the HRM.
Lovely nature trails
Really serene park with lots of trails. Great place to enjoy nature.
Beautiful park, fantastic riverside paths, easy for kids. I would bring a stroller with larger wheels. Could use more picnic tables
Shubie Park is a gem. A beautiful walk anytime of the year. The squirrels are pretty much tame and love to be given peanuts.
Beautiful trails and a great place to walk your dog.
It's a happy place....the kids love to go feed the numerous critters, ducks and pigeons.....The water ways from the lake and on down through the old locks make for a great place to camp, bike canoe or stole.
It seems like you are in total wilderness when in real life you are just minutes away from the city, great place for a walk with your child
Beautiful park and great place for your dog or a walk to relax. Dogs are friendly and so are the people!
Beautiful place to go for a long relaxing walk with your family or pets.
A beautiful park for a walk or to simply relax. Several walking trails and is dog friendly.
Great trails, good sledding place in the camp ground
Awesome park well maintained...was a beautiful cool day for a walk.
Beautiful park with lots of trails. Some of them were very icy . Main trail seemed to be ok
I love walking in Shubie park! It's so serene and beautiful not to mentioms there are dogs everywhere!????????
Very quiet rainy day at the park today but the dogs had fun anyway
Great place for dogs and young children alike. There are walking trails and some areas to ride mountain bikes. You can see ducks, frogs, beavers, birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. There are even some spots along the trails with shelters for birds and squirrels where passersby are able to put birdseed and peanuts.
Is nice to have this park in the city Nice scenic views, birds, squirrel ,turtles and so
Beautiful place to walk and enjoy the outdoors
This place is "The Liquor Dome" for dogs. You're just the DD.
Great place to take a walk with or without a dog. Please remember to pick up after your pets unless its a phantom poop or pure mush that requires a pressure washer or a shovel. If you notice an abandoned poop near the one you are picking up be kind and pick it up too. If you witness someone not picking up after their pet, a gentle reminder would be the best approach. Yelling, screaming and pointing is not the way to encourage adults to do the right thing.
Had a very peaceful and enjoying walk!!
The park makes you feel like you're in the country. It a relaxing walk.
Shine park is a large, lovely park with great trails where you can walk and self isolate in the great outdoors. You can kayak, canoe or just enjoy the trails.
Clean park. Staff always on the go to keep clean. Well spaced between camping spots.
It's a great historic park and camp ground.
The best park in Dartmouth for walks especially with little fury ones.
This is a great park for walking or sitting on s bench along one of the many trails. If you haven't been there before you should try it. There are dog areas on a leash and off leash. With the leaves changing it's a nice walk. Enjoy.
Beautiful trails and love that you're able to rent canoes by the hour! You won't be disappointed!!
Nice place not big enough for busses to stay with the group. People are friendly the students love the tours
Great path variations and lots of room to distance from others
The best place to walk your dog.lotz of trails, leash on and off. Streams to drink from and a beach.
Wonderful park with a dog beach to boot. It's rich in history and a beautiful place.
This park is a jewel in Dartmouth. Very well maintained, leash areas and off-leash areas for your dog.
Beautiful area to walk, explore nature or just to sit back and enjoy the peace, or even people watching.
Lots of good trails and fun for kids
Perfect spot to walk your dog or your people. Lakes and Brooks. Local birds and squirrels and an off leash dog trail. Canoe/ kayak rentals. Biking trails lead from the park and are peaceful and follow the water.
Love the ducks and all the dogs
Kayaked down the canal to Lake Charles.
Nice view, and you can meet a lot of pets
What a great park. We walked 5kms and never saw half. Great walk
Took my son to pump track. I grew up in Shubie Park so I then showed him the great trails. Memories.
Nice place for a walk. Dog friendly trails. Alot of joggers. Can be very busy with dogs.
Great spot to enjoy nature only detractor is the sound of the highway. Still excellent walking trails and lake views
Great off leash trail/park. You might have trouble finding parking if its busy. People are generally polite and I didn't notice a lot of trash while I was there
Great park to walk your dogs lots for friendly people
Amazing trails with beautiful scenery rich with squirrels, ducks ,chipmunks and birds all who have less fear of human and don't mind sharing space along side you as you venture through the trails. The off leash dog area leaves plenty of room for your socialized pupper to meet new friends.
Beautiful park in the heart of the city. Love the seperate dog park section.
Not much to do once u see the locks in the picture. However it's a neat piece of history every kid in Halifax should see once.
I love this park! Beautiful, well maintained, and really popular. The dog off leash area has your standard stunned-dog parents who bring unfriendly or aggressive dogs, but that’s every dog park, and not the parks fault at all.
Off leash dog zone is great. Just make sure you pick it up! Lots of shady areas to keep cool. Not to mention all the great lake access.
Great place to go for a nice relaxing walk and a good place to walk your dog if you own a dog
Beautiful Park, but I wish the dog owners would obey the on leash off-leash signage.
Our first time really exploring the trails in this park was so successful. Our daughters loved it and they especially loved to seek out all of the gorgeous birdhouses along the paths.
Lots of ducks and squirrels because everyone is feeding them. Nice easy walk. A bit crowded as it's not a large area. We'll visit again to try the trails away from the canal. Overall a great afternoon! ☺
Very calming, full of nature. They were doing upgrades on one of the bridges. It was on great shape.
Great place to go for a walk and even better that you can walk the dog there off leash.
When we booked, we were not told that we booked on the no campfire area. That's why we camp, but I have to say it was still enjoyable. It was a fire ban..so no one could have a fire. Beach is nice and paths for walking or biking was really good. I am not sure about how much the ampage worked at our site as our trailer ran out of power on a 30 amp site...
This was my first trip to Shubie Park. There's lots of wildlife, walking paths, history about the canal, benches to sit and rest while you look at through to the water or sit in a quiet area of the wooded land, there's a place where your dogs can roam freely, as well as on leash and other areas, there's a picnic area on a cup of small beaches. If you're looking to take pictures or just relax this is a very splendid place to go. I would suggest if you're someone who enjoys feeding the wildlife take some seed or peanuts along because there are a lot of ducks and squirrels along the way that love to be fed.
Lovely off leash park
TLDR - Overall a great park for all out door activities (walking, canoeing, swimming). The park is both dog friendly and stroller friendly. This park has many great features. There is a beach with life guards, an affordable small boat rental, off leash walking trails and stroller friendly trails. There are many interconnecting trails so that every walk can be a varied and different. The trails have minimal inclines so are quite accessible for persons with limitations or people with small children/strollers. The trails lead past lakes, rivers, locks, marshes, through tree cover or open clearings. There is something for everyone here.
Walks or kayaking, you can't go wrong going to Shubie!!!
Great off leash part of the park to take the dog for a swim and then a nice cool walk under the trees
Always love walks along the Shubie trail system. Perhaps one day the wife and I will get ambitious and walk around Lake Charles starting from the Dartmouth Crossing entrance.
Awesome trails with beautiful views
Beautiful park. Great walking trails and completely child and pet friendly. I live close now, but I used to drive 25 highway minutes to bring my children for a swim or walk and picnic. Now we take our grandchildren and still enjoy the park.
Considering this park is in the middle of Dartmouth it is a very peaceful place to go walk. I really enjoyed the many paths to explore and I also enjoy the easy access to Dartmouth Crossing if you decide you would like to go shopping. There is also a small beach which is a nice place to swim on a hot day in the summer.
Well maintained trails, great kayaking, good for strollers and bikes on the wider paths.
It's a wonderful place to spend time with family and friends
Awesome place to let the dogs go. It would take me 5 hours on leash to get the same exercise as an hour at Shubie. Please pick up after your pets people ????
Great place for a walk that's right in Daetmouth. The fall leaves and ducks on the water make it very picturesque and the locks are interesting to see as well
Nicest park in Dartmouth well kept all welcome cats n dogs included.
This park is a gem. Tidy/clean and located minutes from everything in the middle of Dartmouth. Park staff were excellent. Sites are smallish and tree cover minimal. Park largely caters to RV crowd .
Beautiful walk! We had sun, no wind and plenty of trails and a bench or two if you needed to sit and soak up the beautiful scenery..
Great place to let the dogs run.
Love this place ... A great park inside the city ... Fantastic trails.
Beautiful day at Shubie today.. Had a nice walk with a beautiful lady
We went to the pump track. It was great a lot of people enjoying. I think the city should consider putting in a track for smaller kids as it can get quite packed. Otherwise besides the fact its a tad small its great for the children.
Always a good time at the dog park. Watch the weekend's though as that's when there are a lot more dogs who are not well socialized or just cooped up all week.
Very beautiful. So nice to be able to visit. We looked for some Halifax Rocks and left some Winnipeg Rocks. So nice to have a gorgeous park in the city
Great history...lovely trails and lots of animals
Shubie Park trail is amazing and beautiful for biking, running, or walking. The paths are all maintained perfectly, and you have a lakeside and wooded view.
So many puppy dogs and cute squirrels. Lots of trees and nice trails! Always make Lemondogs canteen a stop while you're in the park for an authentic taco!
It's very good place for whom who love nature and wildlife
Lots of trails to choose from, all well kept for walking or strollers, with wildlife like squirrels & muscrats to amuse children
Lots of great paths, never take the same route twice. Can get busy, but still feel peaceful.
Very beautiful and you cab order online a subboard or kayak for one or two people very fun.
Great big park with lots of trails. There's an on-leash and off-leash part for your dogs!
Great trails, beautiful canal and wonderful dog of leash area.
Awesome off leash walking trails for your dogs
My new favorite walking spot. Lots of animals around to take the kids to see.
Great trails, wonderful scenery. Some wildlife to see. Off-leash dog park is great for dogs.
A beautiful location... so peaceful, well maintained and a calm stream where you can rent kayaks, canoes & paddle boats.
Very close to nature beautiful trails Chipmunkssquirrels Chickadees feeding out of your hand
Had a nice refreshing walk in Shubie on the first day of Fall.
A gem for people who like to go for a good walk or bike ride. Lots of ducks, chickadees and squirrels for the kids to amuse themselves.
I love it here. The squirrels are very social and come right up to you. My dad enjoys going for walks with me there also!
An awesome park especially for those with dogs . Great "Dog Beach" of pebble, so as not to track sand into your car . Great to balst through on a bike , and to kayak from , or swim at the other end at lake Charles
Very nice park, there are lot of animals to see, little lakes,... you can also do some picnic if you want.
Favorite place to take the pups
Amazing park with awesome trails. Pet friendly In summer, they have kayak/canoe rental options at reasonable price
Always a pleasure to visit. Staff member Joe MacDonald is so friendly & always has a smile.
Great park! Lots of off leash areas for dogs!
Great park with a large off leash area for my dog.
Great walking park and great off lease area for dogs
Nice park. Enjoyed sunny day with ducks and a small turtle. Also good for taking dogs for a walk near lake
Great walking trails
Awesome walk today Canada Geese and Garter snake.
I could enjoy waking with my dog with beautiful leaves.
Best park to visit during fall season. Love the squirrels and ducks there. People are feeding them too Lively park , must see place.
Fantastic place for walking alone, with the dog or family. Very scenic and clean.
Awesome place for leashed and impeached dogs. Great dog beach. A hike enjoyed by all!
Wonderful place to take your dog and walk the well maintained trails and take in nature
Great place to go in the woods when your in the city. Quiet, clean. Even has a baseball field
Beautiful walking paths and great historical information. Will be back.
If you don't own a dog, but you like dogs, I'd recommend you go to this park. There are a lot of dogs running around. If you don't like busy, family-oriented parks, or dogs, Shubie park probably is not what you're looking for.
Absolutely beautiful. And the history of the canal, explained thru the museum and various plaques and panels, adds to the to the sense of adventure along with the views of lake Mic Mac and Charles. Not to mention the marked connection to the Trans Canadian trail and the very easy access to Dartmouth Crossing of you feel like a little shopping before or after a stroll.
Shubie Park is our favorite spot to go in Dartmouth. It has a dog beach, walking trails, bicycle,, kayaking etc.
Lovely park, beautiful scenery, well looked after ????
It was a beautiful walk and lovely scenery
The most beautiful park
Only had time for a quick visit with family but it made a big impression. Good trail network, some off leash for dogs, flora and fauna in abundance.
Our day would not be complete without a few laps at the off-leash dog trails in the park.
Always an enjoyable still through the trails.
This is a lifelong favourite place for hiking, canoeing, dog walking, bird watching, and just enjoying being outside in nature. Lots of trails, historic lock system, beautiful lakes, and some rare plant life including lady slipper orchids. Shubie is a Dartmouth treasure!
I used to love Shubie off-leash park but it's not what it used to be. First, Peach and I are walking when we get passed by a slow jogger. When Peach caught up to her on the path she starts freaking out. I ask what's wrong and she says "I'm scared of your dog". I tell her she's harmless and that if she's scared of dogs she should go to the section where dogs have to be on a leash. She tells me I can't tell her what to do and that I'm lucky she hasn't told me to put her on a leash.... seriously?! I didn't take kind to that and in my head I gave her a good bop to the nose. I was gonna leave then I thought that wasn't fair to Peach.... didn't the next dog come up and bite her right on the lip! They told me to check for blood cause she usually goes for the dog's face....honestly, why are you at an off leash park if your dog has behavioural issues?! I'm tired of the look I get from some people when they see Peach. I wouldn't take her somewhere if I knew she was aggressive, I respect others and wouldn't want to ruin someone else's experience. Off to buy her some ice cream.... think she earned it! 1 star for people's behavior! Shame on you!
I really like the animals on these trails! Peaceful views and I honestly never want to leave.
Renting kayaks and going down the canal is a lot of fun. Byob (probably not allowed, but a nice touch)
Beautiful area for a hike, or an easy walk.
Such a wonderful place for a relaxing walk. With wonderfully friendly animals if you have the patience. Trails are friendly for biking although it is recommended to keep a slow pace do to people and small animals everywhere
Great off leash area for dogs.
Is an amazing park. I only visited in winter and you have many things to do, so summer has to be even better. must visited.
Beautiful walking trails. Kayak and canoe rentals. There are public washrooms.
Beautiful inter-city park with walking trails, dog park, lake, walking-bridges, birds/squirrels a-plenty.
I love this park. So much nature, and beautiful trails.
Great place for the beginner kayaker or to try out a canoe.
Went for a nice walk, spent time with some good friends!!
Friendly people walking in the park and it's a beautiful place to take your dog for a walk. My first time there and it's excellent!
Great park for kids and bikes and dogs...maybe not all at the same time
Great little location with beautiful walking trails. Bring some unsalted peanuts because the wildlife is super friendly. There is also an excellent canteen with a bunch of tacos an various drinks. The tacos are either vegitarian, vegan, the meat ones make use of beef tongue. Don't get turned off, they are delicious. Try the sparkling blueberry lemonade seasoned with tarragon.
Beautiful park. Great little cafe.
I absolutely LOVED it here...the walking trails...the wildlife...the water etc etc is all stunning..we went there on Boxing day &i got some fantastic pictures
I love this place for the scenery... Being able to see different wild life... get to meet lots of new people walking the path... In the summer time alot of people from other places as well... friendly...not to loud...very greatly family and pet orientated spot...you can camp as well have a get away ❤❤????????????????
Been exploring here for nearly 30 years. Still not sick of the views ????
Great park, lots of interconnecting trails. The off leash area is great to meet other fellow dogs and their owners. Lots of area to work with your dogs training both on and off leash. I look forward to when the water is cleared for swimming again.
Great place to go in the city to feed the Chickadees and the occasional Chipmunk. :D
Love having this park so close to home. It is beautiful!
Great walking trails! Lots of wildlife, very relaxing. You can bring your dogs
Shubie park is a great place for a walk. There is a big off leash trail for the dogs.
The trails & wildlife running around is always enjoyable.
I love coming here with my dogs it's always so much fun lots of people and dogs to meet. Everyone is generally very friendly and understanding . I only wish people would stop riding their bikes in the off leash park of the park.
Great place to take a kayak or a canoe, or just go for a walk or swim at the beach. Great spot to spend the day.
My favorite park for off leash fun and doggie socialization!
Lots of fun and very cool animals. You will definitely get lots of exercise.
Great park with walking trails and water activities. Good for families!
Beautiful park great for dog walking and free rentals of kayaks and paddle boards!
Gorgeous park!
Best park in the city, spent many a summer night drinking by the beach at mossmans, drinking by the canal, drinking in the pit. Good times
Love this park! First time I ever went was this year, just at the.m beginning at June! We've been back several time since within such a short period of time! Lovely, great for distancing in these times & so much beautiful nature ????
Wonderful walk in the deep forest right in town. Squirrels, chipmonks scrambling for peanuts. Baby birds feeding out of your hand with blue jays everywhere. A full walk around the canal is 3 k taking 45 min. Great place. Favorite nature walk in hrm for us.
Love the off leash section of the park, great time for both dogs and humans. The rest of the park is great too - clean and maintained.
Beautiful park, great trails, some more groomed than others.
Great trails for dogs, even outside of the off leash areas.
