-lovely place for a walk -sunset and Sunrises here are breathtaking -lots of spots to play sports -playgrounds for kids -perfect for a romantic date
When the weather is good, this place is lovely to take a stroll around. You have the pier on one side with the majestic mountains in the backdrop, greenery on the other, and people enjoying their time! Whether you want the kids to play and run around, want to take your dog for a walk, sit on the benches and enjoy the view or go for a jog, this place will not disappoint! Lots of restaurants and food places around as well and super easy and convenient to get to via the skytrain!
Beautiful place...plenty of parking...great for kids....
Super use of reclaimed space. Old pier area preserved in a comfortable urban park serting with good cleanliness maintenance and great views
Great boardwalk along the river. City of New Westminster had done and awesome job of the greenspace and flowers.
Great place to go with kids.. lots to do with the parks to play in as well as areas to ride bikes and scooters. Lots of space to run and play, great for getting some fresh air and going for a walk. Keep in mind that it can get cold down by the water, so dress warm..!
The neighborhood park of downtown new Westminster by the Fraser river side. It is spacious and wide for people to walk, jog, cycling, dog-walking on a regular basis. The new Westminster city newly developed the area and continues to upgrade for better living park environment.
Lively place during summer. Features a basketball court, playground, bike way, jogging path, and a concession stand all along the water. Sadly this place would have thrived if the volleyball courts were still around.
Cute little pier walk I would recommend to anyone who has never been and just enjoy the area. …
One of my favorite walking spots, beautiful views all around, lots for kids to climb on as well .....:)
Beautiful area! The city has done a great job improving the area over the years and it's absolutely gorgeous now. The quayside walk and view of the water are absolutely delightful. There's close (paid) parking, public restrooms that are well maintained, food for sale (in the summer at "Eats at the Pier"), a small little park for children to play at, and beautiful strips of garden along the paths. There's also a small waterpark and a beach-like area with volleyball nets. The River Market is along the walk as well, and has more dining options, washrooms, and often holds events like craft fairs. For those who play Pokemon Go, there's always lots of Pokemon to catch and lots of Gyms along the Quay.
It's pretty good and nice. Sound from street can be a bit loud and its definitely within town (you don't get that relaxing nature/forest feeling), but still it is nice, and a good place to rest and enjoy if you're in New Westminster.
New park and walkway along the Fraser River Waterfront. Caution: pay parking in downtown New Westminister.
The perfect spot for a family picnic, a stroll, or a vantage point for the many events that take place here over the summer. And in the winter, the holiday edition of Fridays on Front takes place under cover!
A nice place to sit and relax. Watch the boats sailing by. Has provision for playing volley ball and other activities. Fun shower to beat the heat. Seems the place also has live band on weekend evenings making the place lively and appealing.
Although the fire burnt down a huge chunk of the pier it is still a great place to chill and get some sun or go for a walk. The concession stand is great too if you want to get a quick bite to eat.
Nice place to bring kids! Public washrooms. Food area.
There is no shade space for parents and kids sometime want to play with sand but there is no sand..
I love this little park because of the variety of river views and options for sitting. It has washroom facilities, a vending stand and some picnic tables. I’d love to be able to walk from this park straight to the quay. There is a massive …
incredible place to walk and talk on the shore of the lakeincredible place to walk and talk on the shore of the lake.
Great place for a quick stroll to kill time or simply to embrace the view. Maybe you see someone you know.. Perhaps meet someone new.
Westminster Pier Park is a great place and the city is trying hard to make it a place were people would enjoy but still to make trash spread.
Easily accessible by Columbia skytrain which is just one block across the street. Recently renovated with new green space and an adventure playground. Panoramic view of the Fraser River Bridge connecting to Surrey. Concession with small food choice, I suggest bringing your own food. Lots of picnic happening and a few bbq I saw. Nice place to get a sun bath. Bring a towel and some sunscreen. If you like this review please gives a thumbs up.
The ways to get the are a bit off - either a bridge or a construction site currently - but it's pretty.
Great place to sit an relax an have some ice cream from the concession stand
Great view of the fraser river, grass is perfect for relaxing, benches/picnic tables/lounge chairs, and lots of amenities (playground, basketball court, food, washrooms). It's a very thoughtful space and very community-oriented.
Brand new after the fire at the pier. A very inclusive park but missing much of the climbing apparatus that you will find at most parks. Otherwise, it is safe for children and the view is incredible.
awesome place for a picnic. it is super accessible for my close friend who is living in one of the high rises close by.
Great place to hang out. Perfect all people whether you're riding solo, with some friends or family. There's lots of benches to seat on, a playground for kids and volleyball courts. There's a wall of pictures that tells the history of New Westminster. The only downside is that right now the bathrooms are not accessible.
Enjoy my evening walks here every single day with my 13 month old. Really nice and refreshing place to spend evenings. A lot of youngsters play basketball in the side-court and it keeps the environment very lively. There is a cafe that offers a variety of options and people enjoy their waffle-cone icecream. The only thing I feel should be strictly implemented is that there should be no smoking allowed on the premises; no matter what is being smoked. Hence the 4 stars.
good place for a walk by the water and playground for children
Great little park. Relaxed attitude. Grass area to picnic. Snack area in warmer months with decent food and ice cream.
Great place to go for a walk after shopping at downtown new westminister!
The new park is fantastic! It has a variety of features for many demographics! Kids? There’s a brand new playground with logs, swings, a super-slide, and an almost nautical aesthetic. Teens? The view and lighting is great for that perfect selfie. Or grab some snacks at the concession and chill on the bleachers. Dates? The Atmosphere is amazing and you can check out the Westminster youtube for a fun scavenger hunt. Cuddly close if the wind pics up. Mobility The park now has two entrances and an elevator so it is very accessible. Definitely worth a visit. Or ten.
Parking across the street on the upper levels. Quite a walk for those with strollers and wheelchairs. Park has been updated and features a nice playground for toddlers and older children. Elevator access on the further east side.
Pleasant to chill over a cold crispy beer ( byob)then pick up some fries at concession stand.
Neat little park and path along the Fraser River. Bit of a construction zone near the Quay, but still nice. Concession open spring and summer has coffee shop type food and drink. Great place to visit and go for a stroll or bring a book and watch the boats float by.
Good place to walk and enjoy the view
Nice place for a quick visit!
I built this bridge and park while working for Bosa Development, its amazing to watch people playing and enjoying the park, footbridge and views of the Fraser.
Had an unexpected pic nic from a Filipino group for free, very good food and great people too...
We love this park! New playground is awesome and they have a great concession with very good prices.
A beautiful place to walk by the water. Family friendly with playground equipment as well as a place with hammocks to lounge and read a book. This park is also full of amazing dogs who just want to have a great time.
The more newly renovated areas are quite nice. A big part is under construction right now so I'm excited to see what it looks like. I found it impossible to find a seat in the shade during the day minus one area where there were some sort sketchy people asking to see my phone (pass). The swivel chairs are a cool idea but I found them super uncomfortable, and I kept sliding on them.
Hidden treasure of a park that is steps away from the Market and accessible from overhead walkways from the parking structure. In addition to playgrounds there is a nice pier walk along with seating areas. Small eatery in the middle of the park for snacks.
Kids loved the new park has a slide and kids play area as well as hamicks
Fav place for eve stroll
Really lovely little river side park with aw some views of the bridges. Makes for a pleasant stroll down by the river with a sometimes concession and the market at the end. Definitely one of my favourite places to realx in New West!
Lovely place for dates and to bring your kids! Public bathroom is great for toddlers and momma's ????. And it is such a beautiful walk and the playground is great!
The park is right beside the river. There is a basketball court and some equipments for people do exercises. However, there is no free parking. And the park seems small.
Pleasant riverside park that's separate from traffic. Access is from the quay or the downtown parkade but the park is much more attractive and well kept than either adjoining parking lots would suggest. Lots of benches, playground, and volleyball spaces and a nice concession.
There's always something happening here and lots of different environments set ups. See saw chairs, children's play area, beach volleyball without the water, green space, hammocks! And a concession shop. The weekend I went JR FM had their …
Beautiful and peaceful. Family friendly and good for having outdoor gathering with friends.
Beautiful and peaceful place to enjoy great sunny day's and enjoy with friends and family.
epic slide is the centerpiece for this amazing park. not for the toddlers as it is difficult to climb but for everyone else, including adults who ate young at heart.
Odd location but great fun for the little ones. The gentle breeze off the water, great playground, and the passing trains & boats made my boy's day!
I love this park. The renovations are great. Great for kids, there’s a food court as well.
Beautiful place to relax and unwind. Crowd might be noisy and not so great at times
There may have been a fire here but the city of New Westminster and its people have made the Park still inviting and still a joy to come to even though half of it is gone due to the fire it is still a beautiful place to come to you on a sunny day. I encourage everybody bring the family.
Lovely to hang out and stroll around, perfect spot by the river!
So awesome especially right now with all the ice floating down the river
Beautiful walk and my kids love the play structures. The water in the washrooms is very hot. Be careful when washing little ones' hands.
This park is amazing, although stated 5-12 year olds but my 3.5 year old kids love it, the hammocks are awesome, parents and kids join in all the fun. If You worry about the playground for smaller kids, there is a smaller kids playground up the boardwalk towards the bridge.
Great for kids to play at and huge area big park
The board walk is really nice.
Great park space & well maintained by the city. I wish they would do something with that empty W parking lot.. Like make it an off leash dog area or expand the volleyball courts..
Love this modern, man made park by the water!! The grass is always green and pristine, the park is clean, there's volleyball courts and hammocks in the summer, perfect place for picnics! The views are amazing too.
A lot of effort has been invested to create this open, riverside public access space. Walkways, playground , outdoor volleyball , and nice benches to overlook the Fraser river are but a few. Ride a bike, jog or walk the dog, there is space to be alone or a group activity. Buy some food at the Quay and then a walk East or west along the riverway. Mobility assisted friendly too.
What a beautiful place! Clean with a nice open feeling. Lots of dogs being walked and people jogging through. Great vibe overall.
Love this park and coming here since 2016 and my favorite park, good play area for kids too
Fun, nice. Not easier accessible. And where is the washroom??? Not close... Can't go far with kids...
Great little park that they redesigned. It was a nice place to walk down with our bubble tea, sit on a bench and chat. It’s quite accessible with stairs and also a ramp. We saw something big in the Fraser river twice while we sat, maybe sturgeon?
The Pier Park is a very nice place to walk, to practice sports or just to chill. It has a beautiful view of the sunrise and the Fraser River. A lot of opportunities for photos!
I love this park. It's a nice walk in the summer I take my son to the water park there and he likes to pay in the sand because while i get a tan. The consession stand there has very good food and they even have board games people can borrow. My experience here was fantastic!
beautiful scenery while walking beside the river. Relaxing and a good stress reliever while enjoying the cool air breeze
Very small Park that makes the best of the little space it's built on. It offers views of the Fraser River, an area with sand, Beachvolleyball, a Waterpark, Hammocks and Deckchairs. Very nice for the people living in New Westminster, North Surrey and the Edmonds area of Burnaby. It is located right next to Columbia station, so it's very easy to Access using transit.
A beautiful walk by the river. A fun little playground with sand pit for young age kids. A perfect biking place for young ones. Overall, well maintained newly renovated park. River market in the close by proximity makes it perfect for after walk snack or meal.
Nice, family friendly park. Although the park seems a bit smaller and I miss the old park layout, it's still pretty good. There's a new play area that my kids absolutely love. I recommend it. The parking, however, is paid.
Loved this park when it used to have the beach volleyball area; love it now after the reconstruction post quay fire! NW has done a great job rebuilding in such a short time! The playground is amazing, the concession is awesome, the seating areas and shady spots are lovely thanks to all the plants around. The best place to go for a long walk in this city, IMHO!
Actually, pretty cool. Nice finish to the day. Grab a coffee at Old Crow, see what Army and Navy has, get a cigar at Pacific tobacco and finish at the pier. Great parking at parade right above. Looking at the river was nice. Basketball, sand volleyball, grassy area, weird container sculpture.
Lovely walk in any weather. Somewhat challenging to navigate in the shoulder season with some roads and sidewalks closed for construction. Many shops and activities at the Quay, and lots of great view points, resting stops, and interpretive signs along the way.
really great place to enjoy a walk with your significant other and the dog
Nice place to hang out. But hard to get to. Have to go through parking lot if driving. Other than that it’s a great place in the city.
The park is pretty small and noise. It is located near the railroad and a road full of tracks. Nevertheless it is worth visiting if you are in New West
Walking trial is really nice, one side is the river and the other side is nice condos.
Very attractive, neat and nice place. May be it is cold at winter time. If you go to this place you have to wear properly to protect yourself from the cold air. At summer it is busy and crowded by different kind of peoples in different ages. Whenever you go here you will be satisfied by this attractive diversity colours. For your surprise if you go to the compound near to water, you will see different kind of locks on the wire of the compound.
Very nice place to just lie down and soak up the sun along with the gentle warm breeze!
Nice cozy park right by the Fraser River. Lots of parking. Only 4 mins walk from the Columbia SkyTrain station. They have small cafe/restaurant where you can get burgers, ice cream and etc which also open now. Clean place to bring a date and it's very kid friendly. If you have a stroller or a wheel chair there is a working elevator and a nice not so steep ramp to get you the park level. ????
Great place to bring my toddler. Clear signage for one-way directions and social distancing guidelines on pathways, stairs and elevator. The bathrooms are next to the playground so it’s easy to wash hands before and after play. The playground structure is small and just right for kids under 5. It has a climbing wall, steps, steering wheel, benches, and twin slide. A small sandbox is also tucked into one corner. Elsewhere in the park are picnic grounds and benches, hammocks, volleyball sand court, and basketball court.
Love this park... but from the park to the quay is not a straight shot anymore..coz of the bridge construction.. its still nice and you get to see the shops on Front street. Went and saw the work boats doing their parade today..
Fantastic new park in New west. So many activities for all ages.
Despite of hosting a giant art installation this park lacks proper lighting. It is kinda scary and feel unsafe at night.
Great park but to be honest a lot of homeless here. Most of which was drunk and slurring words by 9pm. I've been here before it is family friendly until about 7pm. Good views and fun before that
Nice playground by the Fraser river update facility my LO loves it!
Beach volleyball, big rubber hammocks and a extremely simple water spraying pseudo park. Overall big disappointment. The grass area is kind of nice but the layout could really use a lot more thought. The hammocks are neat and a good addition but the water park is terrible and no one plays beach volleyball. Using that area for an outdoor gym would be much more popular.
Nice place to bring kids!
I can't believe it has taken me so long to get here. What an awesome park that is great for everyone to enjoy the Riverside, learn a bit about the New West minster history and see some cool sculptures. It's a great outing an any weather. It's cool hearing the distant city sounds combined with nature.
Awesome park for the little ones and lots of fun activities!
Underrated and pleasant outdoor hangout spot, wish the original park was still around but the current grounds are quite enjoyable too
A favorite walking, meeting and hang out for New Westminster residents
Great but it was a bit short. I heard that there are some other parks close by, but they are not connected!
Great urban park. Great use of some formally unused waterfront. The park has a playground for kids , a small basketball court , full sand volleyball courts , concession , washrooms and tons of waterfront seating to relax on. Its wheelchair accessible. Parking is pay parking.Great views of the bridges , Fraser river, etc.
Its a good park to visit. Kids love the play ground and watching the trains. Where adult can enjoy walking or play volleyball during summer
Lovely experience lots of info in pictures set in the park lots of seating kids stuff too
Sometimes its real buzy but thats no ones fault and no one can fix it, no reason to give less than 5 stars, nice place to come by and enjoy some food or sun
Lovely place. Just wish the construction finish soon so the views can even be better!
Great place for family time ????
It was nice to cheak it out for the first time not busy during the day. Free parking below for 2 hours insted of paying to park at park aid. Be mindful though of the street people behind buisness and train tracks. We live in a world to co exist. Just be street smart especial when bringing kids around. Sad and disappointing but its a reality living in citys.
A nice place to spend some time
Amazing food, friendly service in a cool little touristy area
Really lovely place to walk - hang out and see beautiful river sights
The Playground was redesign after 2020 fire and it's awesome and so much fun. You are allowed to drink alcohol so it could be use for nice picnic with some wine and/or beer. Basketball court, tables with benches, hammocks, deck chairs, clean washrooms and a concession store with food and ice cream. What else you can ask for?
Beautiful place to visit with friends and family. Lots of space to walk around the pier, kids activities. Affordable parking price. Amazing view to enjoy. Stay blessed ????
This is a great walk any day of the week any weather condition.
Park is good. Good view to fraser river. But atmosphere wasn't pleasant. You should pay for parking
Wonderful place to walk around. Relaxing to watch the river. Tables + benches available, lots of stairs, but has an elevator.Play area for kids. Did not like the smell of cannabis.
Nice place for kids to play and good view of fraser reiver
The high harmony between modern design and relaxing chairs .. I see that it is a very good place for sports and yoga practitioners. Meditation. Loving to take a tan for the skin .NB . Don't be alarmed by some building construction fences ... some security personnel may direct you to the right place
I like how its isolated from bicycles and people. Not too many people come here. Hidden gem thats for sure. I can walk around stress free bc kids are trapped in this circle of pier park.
I love this park and it's a great addition to the area. I have 2 issues though; condition of the public toilets is going downhill fast and there is absolutely no shade (a few tarps strategically hung would work well on the existing poles). …
Beautiful down at the docks. Great food at concession stand. Cheap and delicious. If you're lucky you might see a river otter swim past. The only downside? Awkwardly standing around waiting for a hammock to become available. Most people pretend they don't see you waiting and will shamelessly swing for hours. There should be a courtesy sign with a 30 min time limit when others are waiting. Also...it's kinda gross how couples make out openly in them middle of the day. Otherwise the docks are awesome!
Great place to come for a picnic and playtime. There is a concession stand on site further down the walkway if you need some snacks. Meant for locals living in the highrises who can walk there..all others need to pay for parking to have the pleasure to visit. Bonus...great place to view the trains as they pass by. Don't forget to wave to the locomotive engineer and maybe get a toot toot!
Best playground in New West! Although the play area is huge, the park itself is much smaller now since the fire, but still a nice place for a stroll or to sit and watch the world go by on the river.
Beautiful park on the water with tonnes of interactive spaces. Fun to explore.
An absolutely gorgeous park - my partner and I spent the afternoon here with a few friends and it's so nice out! I've lived here my whole life and it was my first time going to that park. You've got a gorgeous view, an amazing path along the Pier, nice grassy areas to have a picnic and there's public washrooms nearby (which is always a plus!)
Great views and plenty of wonderful eateries to choose from. Great shopping and a wonderful park for the kids!!
Don't bother visiting. Rude park goers not respecting space. Put a leash on your kid or show them some manners
It's a good place for a walk any time during the day. You can enjoy the sunshine, take a look of the bridge connect New Westminster to Surrey & the SkyTrain passing by too. Beautiful flowers of the season is good for taking pictures of this beautiful scenery. There's a playground for the kids too. It's good to show them the boats & skytrain pass by. Good view + good Lesson to know New Westminster & Surrey.
There's a lot of construction along the water front with the building of the 2 new 50ish story Bosa high rises but this park is still a great vantage point from which to watch the Fraser river activities such as tugs applying their trade or drift wood floating downstream, or even upstream at high tide, as well as the odd harbor seal and sea gulls moving about. There are lots of piers here that hang over the river as well as chairs and benches that allow you just sit watch things float by. Really, the walk along this stretch could be done in 20 minutes or less but the main aspect of the park is about just being there. There are washrooms near the concession stand, which are open nice long hours. The concession stand, I dont think I've seen it in business yet. There are volley ball courts and patches of grass and apparatuses for kids to climb on and historic local photo collages there as well to enjoy by all for free. Parking... is not free but reasonable. Most people park in the 3 tiered parking lot at the end of 4th street which is entered from either Columbia st or somewhere else, lol. Since really the only 2 ways to get here is by crossing over the train tracks on a causeway at end of 4th or by walking across the tracks at the end of 8th ave. The one at 8th is messed up with the previously mentioned construction activities but still do-able, but not my first choice. This walk is not like the Westminster quay board walk in the sense that there are no pubs and restaurants and shops. There is even an elevator that runs weird hours maybe 11am- 4pm (?) Which makes this a wheel chair accessible park from either entrance point. The park is open 24/7.
Really like the renovation they did here. Makes the walk along downtown New Westminster more enjoyable when you can come here to relax a bit. Credit to the city for getting this one right.
Nice place to sit and eat lunch. The river rolling by is soothing.
Wonderful new playground for the kids. The big slide is for 5yr+ which were perfect for my 5 & 7 yr old.
Very nice place to walk by the sea and enjoy the view at sunset !
Great spot to come for a walk, always something going on the boardwalk or action on the river!
Excellent park for an after-dinner stroll. New and river-front with an interesting kids playground on the west end.
Park is nice, has some hammocks and a small grass space. Lots of seats overlooking the Fraser River.
One of my new favourites in the lower mainland. Beach volleyball courts, Basketball court, hammocks and umbrellas over sand and logs for tanning and relaxing. Playground for kids and a concession stand to boot (open for the season already). Two access points right now from the parking lot to the West and the pedestrian bridge to the East connecting it to Columbia street parkade. And since it's by the Fraser river there is always a breeze to keep you cool in the summers. The parking lot to the West is a bit of a mess cause of construction but when that is done it will probably be seamless.
I wish I knew about this place earlier, loved the pier
Very beautiful river side walk ❤️. Plus lush greens to relax and do small picnics. Good slides for kids.
I love this place. Great spot to go to unwind. It's usually quiet and patrons are friendly. Family feel to it. Concessions, beach volleyball, spray park, b-ball court, great grass to hang out in and the water view/ambience is so peaceful.
A very nice walk on the. Quay and even an ice cream and coffee shop ????
Good for leisure walk right along Fraser River. Their is also a playground for children and several restaurants.
Nice little park. Has a tall tower for the kids to climb. The slide looks really fun to go down. Lots of areas to sit and relax. Like the rubber ground. It's paid parking if you want to go play at the park (not bad $2.50). Washrooms are somewhat clean. Theres construction going on next to it so don't plan on walking across to the pier or parking there.
Really cute small park right on the water.
Very nice place and not too crowded
Great family friendly park on the edge of the Frasier River.
A small pocket of green in downtown New Westminster. Lovely views of the river.
I moved to New West a few years ago specifically for this park. Its a shame that it burnt down, but the new upgrade is amazing! No matter how old you are I challenge you to try out the playground. Wish there were more swings and hammocks though.
Very new and fun. Kids like it. There is no free parking though.
This place is a must for everyone, but even more so for couples. There are plenty of paid parking spaces, or you can jump on the sky train. The whole area is beautiful, and takes you away from all the rush experienced with other parts of Vancouver. There are many restaurants, coffeeshops, and breathtaking views that honestly you could spend the whole day there and still not get enough. There is also the world's tallest tin soldier protecting the pier, which makes both adults and children smile. A note for couples: bring a lovelock and place on the fence by the bridge to symbolise your love. One of the best and most romantic things to do in Vancouver.
