New Stadium Needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!New Stadium Needed! Home of the 3 time National Champion Vancouver Island Raiders! One of the most successful franchise in the Canadian jr Football league and Nanaimo's most successful franchise of the last decade period! The Raiders by the way have produced one of the CFL biggest Superstar Andrew Harris of the BC Lions Grey cup MVP! The team is awesome but, the facility is simply horrible. the stands are aging and falling apart! the wooden stands are well over 50 years old !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are also open wooden bleachers which is ILLEGAL today it is grandfathered in because the law was put in after they were built! I am just waiting for a small child to fall threw the stands and seriously hurt him or herself! It is just a matter of time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Do NOT WANT TO SEE THIS HAPPEN! The stands are at ground level so you cant see much but what you can see is a good product on the field they need to be 6 to 8 feet up! Unlike every other team in the league there is no lights so no chance of a night game after work. Of those people who have Saturdays off they could go down town for dinner then come to the Raiders game after then maybe go down town for some evening activities. Talk about a kick start to the local economy! the beer gardens are weak its a dirt pit stuck in the back of the end zone even know they have some of the best people running it they use what they have to the limit! They have palm bays and a varity of beers donated by palm bay and molson, coores, and Canadian, these national companies support the Raiders! The change rooms are no existent in fact the visiting team had to use a tent how embarrassing at JR football level. It really doesn't seem like the Nanaimo city cares about the Raiders even know i am sure the Raiders have brought millions of dollars to Nanaimo in tourism. Nanaimo is would be the laughing stock of the league, if it wasn't for a decade of domination. Plain and simply New Stadium Needed! If their was a modern stadium with lights, and a beer garden on the opposite side, a scoreboard that you can see and change rooms so you don't have to see almost completely naked people walking around! This could be one awesome event in Nanaimo. Saturday night football game in Downtown nanaimo! Finally there would be something to do on a Saturday night! If NANAIMO wants to improve downtown start with a proper new stadium with lights! a beer garden on the opposite side of the new stadium from 20 yard line to 20 yard line. not in the endzone. I am sure people wouldn't mind sitting and having a beer to watch the game instead of standing in the back of the endzone. Nanaimo would you like to see 6000 people down town! you want people down town build it and they will come Build it and they will come! the people of BC and nanaimo are screaming for a new stadium in Nanaimo! Great football team, horrible stadium
