This Park corresponds to the category of Park.
It's a great place to camp with friends and family. They provide kayak for 12 hours in just $35. They also provide firewood and kindle in very cheap cost. One can also go to Algonquin park with the same day pass provided by the authorities.
This park is BEAUTIFUL! Our site was very large, the staff was amazing, Round Lake a shallow beach which is great for families and it's also an accessible beach. Highly recommend paddling down the Bonnechere River. Rent or bring your own.
Thanks to the Algonquin and Anishinaabe peoples for hosting us in their traditional territory. Bonnechere is a fantastic Provincial Park with great camping and day visit facilities. The Bonnechere river meanders through the middle of the park and has many loops and coves which create secluded camping spots. You may be close to a neighbour but you would never notice it. Many river front spots. I wish there were more boat (canoe, kayak) launches for the places without a river access. Several bathrooms and shower locations throughout the park. A well stocked general store near the beach. The beach is sandy and there are many shaded spots. The water is calm and shallow. The kayaking and canoeing is second to none. And the communities around Bonnechere are well worth a visit. Killaloe is the birthplace of the Beaver Tails pastries, for instance and has a beautiful covered bridge.
Small park super clean and well maintained. Really enjoyed our stay. Nice hiking canoeing
The campsites right on the river are great! You can walk out pretty far in the swimming area and there's a somewhat hidden hiking trail up Turner rd. (called egg rock I believe) that isn't too hard and has an amazing view
Very clean Park. A little noisy on busy weekends. Nice beach and clean washrooms and vault toilets.
Campsite right on the River let us canoe right from our site. Clean toilets and good tasting water. Friendly staff. Only snag was the telephone check-in system - doesn't work well in a park with very spotty cell service. I had to walk back to the entry gate to find a signal to call the entry gate.
Beautiful, well maintained park, with excellent canoe/ kayaking on the river. The facilities were really clean, sites were pretty private, and we were really impressed by the wheel chair accessibility on the beach. Also, none of the infamous gypsy moth caterpillars were in sight.
Helpful friendly staff, beautiful location and some great fishing along the river.
Looooove this park, its a small park but with beautiful places to visit we have stayed in the cabins 3 times already but the campsites look in a really good spot too, a lot of the by the river, the cabins have wood and canoe included! We always have a fun time visiting Bonnechere
Amazing infrastructure. Plenty of canoes for rent at reasonable prices. Camping spots well maintained and organized. They also offer activities for kids.
Love it. One of our favorite parks!
It is an alright park. Have been camping at other parks but this one's a bit congested when it comes to campsites. Not much room around your campsite and campsites are pretty close to eachother. The best thing about Bonnechere is the beach.
Beautiful park, incredible service, kids friendly. Slice of paradise.
One of the nicest and best maintained parks in Ontario.
Beautiful park. Great trails nice beach. Will camp there next time. Lots of amenities including a snack bar if you didn't bring provisions. Definately will go again.
Great park very family friendly, really nice beach.
Absolutely wonderful time at Bonnechere Park Riverwatch cabin. Highly recommend this cabin for those who like to fish. Swimming isn't possible due to submerged logs, trees, etc. However, you could take canoe over to a sandy beach at the bend. We found it more enjoyable to get out of the cabin and spend-a-day down at the beach. Canoes are awesome with seats. Took us 2 hours to canoe up to the fish ladder. Saw turtles, frogs, Canada Geese, ducks and a beaver. BBQ is great. Has a side burner for pots/frying pans. Propane is provided. We left it cleaner then previous occupants. Maybe they didn't realize there is a secondary grill underneath to catch food. The middle grill is perfect for frying up bacon/sausages. The bar fridge worked nicely in concert with our coolers. The feet on the benches in the kitchen were a pain though. We kept stubbing our toes. ????. We solved that problem by slicing a swim noodle lengthwise and covering the wooden feet. Beds are a good size...even bunk beds. And in each room there is an open closet with hangers and shelving. Washroom is very close to our cabin. One side has a flushing toilet. Other side doesn't. Sinks for doing morning abulutions are perfect. Washrooms were cleaned daily. Great time swimming, hiking, and canoeing! We will be back.
Excellent place to enjoy with family and friends, BBQ, picnic, swimming and Hiking !
One of the best provincial parks we have been to. Very well maintained, amazing beach, amenities are all within walking distance of the campsites. The sites are all very nice and there are a some amazing riverside sites so you can swim right off your own little waterfront. We rented a canoe and paddled upstream for 2 hours to the end of the rapids at Jack's Chute. Great place for a quick swim then returned with the current and practically floated all the way back.
Great little park with a wonderful beach.
This is a beautiful park. A bit of a hike but the sites are large and clean. We will come back forsure.
Very beautiful park. Well kept and awesome sites. Facilities are decent and a nice little store with snacks and some amenities. Beach is nice and sandy.
Amazing camping sites with river access for some for some amazing canoeing or similar. Beach is sandy and not too deep, good for young families. Great camp store and staff, was great to be able to rent water craft directly
It's small provincial park.No hiking trails. Beach is nice. As all other provincial park don't expect any help or service if you are not white. Most of time they scoff on you and see you like 'why are you here?'. Once in a while you bump into friendly staff, but in general park officials will make you feel like 'you don't belong here'.
Great place to stay! Lots of space on beach, great trails and campsites!
It's a beautiful park our site was in the river loop and the frogs were loud at night which I loved helped me fall asleep the lake was nice aswell and the people there were very friendly plan on going again soon
Fantastic provincial park/camping spot. The campsites were spacious, private enough and bathrooms were close and well taken care of. The beach is awesome.
Bonnechere Provincial Park! Amazing! On Round Lake, no poison ivy, few mosquitoes, large sites, sand beaches, shallow water almost 100 feet from shore, beautiful Creek to kayak or canoe, changing autumn leaves,, clean comfort stations, honour system firewood after park store closed! Amazing!!
Best Park ever, even with the nightly downpour. Loved how calm and relaxing the campground was, and the trails are great, no mosquitos...not sure why?
Beautiful, smaller provincial park. Great beach. Warm water. Large campsites. Clean, well kept.
Loved it so much visited 3 times in 7 days.
This is our favourite home away from home! Beautiful sites and the beach is unbeatable!
Very nice Park. HUGE sites. Only downside is the reality of many Parks. Few water sites. We're spoiled by the Adirondacks. Just the same, we'll go again.
Bonnecherie Prov Park
We went in April, while it was still closed but accessible for hiking. Beautiful park. We looked forward to camp there as well.
Mon-Wed stay at this park. Self check in by phone was super helpful. Paid for second vehicle to park in visitor's area. Campsites were NOT all full. Most sites were fairly large and private, treed and sandy lots. Our site was large enough for three large (2× queen size) tents plus a portable bathroom tent and would have fit more if allowed. Each site seemed to have 2 picnic tables each. Animal presence seemed significantly less than at other parks - chipmunks, squirrels and a family of ducks visited us every day. No raccoons partied on our stuff overnight, surprisingly. Outhouses are nearer than the comfort stations and equipped with sinks and sanitizer. They are DARK inside though so dont wear your sunglasses inside (my mistake) or bring a flashlight. Walkable to the beach and full-service comfort station from most of the campground, I think (as someone who is unable to walk long distances) - no more than 10mins MAX. Plentiful picnic tables and shade near/on beach. Beach was gorgeous, lots of sand. Shallow and walkable sandy bottom out until the floating barrier. Im 5'4" and past the barrier the water was still below my shoulders. There is a bit of bark-like junk on the bottom a few feet in but it is passed over quickly. Busier Monday than the other days. Tons of space to be socially distant. Volleyball court right there, book library built into a tree, water spout to wash off sandy feet. Huge play structure for kids. Camp store open until 9pm offers ice, firewood, assorted toiletries and camping supplies like sunscreen, AfterBite, earplugs, nail clippers; also souvenirs, freezies and ice cream; snacks like candy and potato chips. You can rent extension cords for about $5 per day; also canoes/kayaks (unsure pricing). There is a boat launch on one side of the beach. Masks are required inside the camp store and comfort stations. Hand sanitizer is provided/required before entering the former. Comfort stations also limit the number of people inside at a time to 2 individuals or 1 family. They are deep cleaned twice per day and seemed in good shape any time I visited. ACCESSIBILITY NOTE: blue "ramps" across beach and into the water for disabled people /wheelchair users. Looked like you can borrow/rent wheeled cart contraptions that can roll into the water as well, specifically made to enable disabled individualsto enjoy the water. Overall, the park was very beautiful and quiet, co-campers were respectful (except for maybe some yelling and talking on the phone?? on the beach), there were more ammenities than expected (I did not make the booking so had done no research) and things were as Covid-consious as possible. Phone/internet signal was VERY patchy and usually weak. I received notifications but could never log in to read more. Some of my site-mates had better luck but not by much. I advise to expect you will be phone/internet free at the campsite. There was a guy using a laptop at the beach ?? but I cant speak for whether or not the internet was working for him. There was a branded gas station about 30mins NW? of the park, off the highway to Pembroke, etc.
Beautiful place.. Staff is always around to help.. close to beach.. pretty good for families.. *Washrooms are very old school ..
Pros: Amazing. Peaceful. Quiet. Family oriented. Perhaps my favourite Provincial camping place in Ontario. Cons: bathroom facilities in desperate need of upgrade.
Friendly staff. Well organized, clean and very respectful of the environment
Our favourite park. Gorgeous beach, wildlife, lovely sites and amenities.
Awesome beach with paddle boats for rent. Kids loved it, warm and challenge water with nice playground and facilities.
Came right after the long weekend so it was nice and quiet. Try to get a riverside site if you're going for no power. The beach is really nice too!
Went camping in mid-August. Great place to go kayaking, the water is calm and clear. During the night time, I definitely recommend seeing the Milkyway at the beach.
Great park, beautiful lake, very good fishing. Sites are very nice, spacious. The river is fantastic for canoeing and kayaking. A park I'd highly recommended!
Our family went camping here for two days and it was awesome. The camp sites are very generous with lots of space to park, camp, eat and play. The facilities are close by and offer a nice hot shower as well as a coin wash. The convenience store offer anything you may have forgotten at home. Wood for the camp fire and ice cubes can also be purchased here. The beach is just magnificent here with and easy entry for kids. Nice soft sand for them to play with too and a big play ground.
Nice park, large private sites, clean comfort stations. Easy drive into Algonquin (Sand Lake entrance) for day trips.
Most beautiful place I've been in a long time... I got to relax and enjoy my birthday.. amazing
A Bonnechere Camping Gem We come here once every other year, and for the past year we have never been disappointed. Virtually every single camp site is above average in terms of ground quality, privacy, and setting. Of course the best campsites are by Bonnechere river or one of those inland lagoons. The provincial park itself is not very big but there are plenty of activities to do such as canoe rentals. Be prepared for occasional rainfall or dry spells for which you are not allowed to make bonfires. Will certainly come back this summer. Just book ahead or you'll be dissapointed!
Lovely clean park. Enjoyed the beach. I would definitely go back.
Great location between the south and east gates of Algonquin, but also close to Ottawa valley. The beach is awesome for children and non-swimmers. The camp sites we had was big and all of them were mostly sand, ideal for tent camping. There is so much to do for all ages and fitness types. Making this a regular site for our family.
This campground is a delight for kayakers. The river is a dream to paddle anytime of the day. Many lots have direct access to the river. There is also a lake with a wonderful beach and play structures for kids. It’s a lovely campground for bicycling too. The facilities are clean and well kept. It’s a very short drive to Algonquin park for those that love to hike.
Nice park. Not too many trails... 1 ????. Decent camping sites.
Great park! Well maintained, with a nice Beach, and lots of sand! We loved our campsite on the river. We brought our motor boat, and tried some fishing. Great Lake if you want to catch trout. Lots of mosquitos! Bring all the bug repellent options you can!
Beautiful park especially in the fall when it's quite.
The park itself is pristine. The beach is great and to be fair I had very good experience there. My one issue (and it is a big one) is the state of the washrooms was atrocious. There is a sign posted outside saying that the washrooms are closed for an hour, twice daily for cleaning but the feces on the walls was there the entirety of my stay and frequently there wasn't adequate tp. If you expect the patrons to use the washrooms provided rather than to relieve themselves in the woods, far more attention must be paid to their cleanliness. Especially in this COVID Era we live
For being one of Ontarios' smaller campgrounds, this one is one of the best. Camp store, basketball court, volleyball, playground, fishing, boat launch, canoe and paddleboard rentals, book share tree, lots of sun and shade at the beach and I'm sure I'm missing other features of the park. I'll definitely be coming back to this campground.
Just drove through looks like a nice campground. Have a friend staying there for the 5th year in a row
It's a great place for family camping. Very welcoming and something all types of campers and all ages. Well kept and great staff. I repeatedly come here a few times a year and would recommend it to everyone.
Great park for families. Large beach with shallow waters and a nice playground. There's not a lot of hiking (really only one trail) but good paddling on the river and lake.
Signs for capacity limits and masks on washrooms improperly placed, almost no one is respecting the requirements. Wood is $10 per bundle while other locations are under $8. Many appear to bring their own wood. Staff friendly, site is nice overall. New virtual check in process seems to work well. Cell reception weak except at the beach.
One of the nicest park for camping. Nice beach and much to explore.
Great river system for easy kayaking. Small trail for hiking. Mostly for camping.
Love this place, great people and sites for fishing with direct water access.
Great park, stayed for two days. Its an awesome place to canoe or kayak and the beach is well kept. Would go back!
Had a great time with hubby and our daughter! We did a day pass that was only 18$ to spend the day on the beach. There's a fun park for the kids to play at too. The sand is really nice and not riddled with rocks. The water is nice and clean and after a 10 - 15 foot walk out your in clear sands and can see your feet! The store has some really cool things! I would mention the vault toilets on the beach were a little full. 100% coming back to go camping!
Very beautiful park. Amazing for swimming. However, they seem to have a major dog problem here. Dogs are barking constantly throughout the night and at the beach (people are allowed to bring their dogs to the beach). My sister got chased by an aggressive dog here and it was very scary.
Nice park. Standard PP checking / service support issues (no maps, no trail guides, etc.).
Nice quiet camping. Smaller park but very likeable. Park has wheel chair campsites and beach is also wheel chair accessable. At this time of year ,late Sept there are lots of campsites available.
Smaller park, so it definitely makes it feel cosier. Beach is awesome and river loop campsites are some of the best.
Had a really nice time. I didn't realize there was a fire can and didn't see anything on the main page of the website. Not a lot of bugs. Good swimming.
Beautiful park but the water was freezing!!! It was pretty empty as well which was great! $18 for a park permit is robbery but the beauty of the park makes up for it.
Nice park with a good sized beach and good amenities. Come here outside of weekends as it gets really crowded.
Excellent place. Wished they had electrical outlet for each camp.
Horrible Provincial Park.. Lack of Concern over proper running and functioning facilities..(Even after bringing it to their attention many weeks ago).... Washers & Dryers have been broken all season.. never repaired.. the teenager at store lied saying they work sometimes and are being fixed all the time... Not Possible.. for this long time daily user of the Park
I've camped at Bonnechere in previous years and always left happy. This year I planned to spend the May long weekend at Bonnechere but, due to flooding the park isn't opening until later in June. The Park staff were very accommodating and allowed me to modify my reservation to another park free of charge.
This seems to be much more of a campsite than park, but what we saw was nice. There are a few fees (entrance and vehicle fees) that may be required, but it wasn't clear if this was only for campers, or if it includes those who just want to pop in. The main detraction was that there didn't seem to be many paths or places to walk if you weren't camping. There's also a camp store, lots of eco-toilet bathrooms (there may be some with plumbing, but as we were just going for a quick visit we didn't have occasion to find out), a nice beach with a demarcated swimming area, boat launch and volleyball net. Lastly, the staff we talked to were pleasant.
Great family camping place. Beach is awesome and lovely programs and atmosphere. There was a fire ban that's why I'm only giving it 4 stars.
Went in September on a chilly weekend and the fall weather was nice making the scenic views very nice on the drive up. Sites were not the most private but were decent size. The beach area was very nice and had some volleyball courts set up as well as canoe rentals. Would like to return in the summer time to enjoy this aspect of the park in warmer weather.
