I spent a few hours here recently and had a really nice time. The location is super convenient which I greatly appreciate; I haven't been to a beach since I moved to Montreal two years ago. There was comfortable places to sit both in the sand and in the grass. Water was cool and refreshing. Excited to spend more time there this summer

Very cool little beach. It's very "cityish" as in it's designed with some grassy hills, some cement levels, slides, Beach area, and kids Sandy play area. There's sort of a treed area for some shade, and some new cabans for changing. It's very nice to have this option for the city as most beaches are at least an hour drive from anywhere. The one real problem is that the swimming is dependent on the water quality and if there's a big rain or storm, the muck at the bottom of the river gets stirred up and they close the swimming for 24 hours. So, call ahead to make sure the water is open if you want to swim. But if you forget to and make your way down only to learn it's closed, there's an outdoor pool just a stone's throw away that's free.

Presently with COVID rules, during the weekend only 45 mins allowance for bathing, I went during the week too and this rule did not apply. The old man at the entrance was rude because I didn't have a mask on, they don't have any signs were mask is required at the entrance.

Still under construction, open to the public but I do not see how they can isolate that portion of the water to make sure it is safe to swim, other than that, it is a good place to have a picnic, chill with friends and get a tan. It gets super crowded as it was just opened. I believe it will get better with time when they finish it totally.

It was so much fun to bring my little nieces. Playing with the sand, splashing water all over the place. They were very happy to discover the different types of birds flying by. Many school of fish attracted their attention. They were so tiny i did not notice them at first. It is definitely the place where families should go with the kids. There are showers, cabins and clean seating. The municipality did a great job. Thank you Verdun Administration and Staff you are a model to all others.

It’s a perfect place to enjoy with your friends or relatives, they have a changing area with 4-5 rooms. If you are coming by car there are some spots 3$ per hour. You will see a Mc Donals near, maybe you’ll be available to parking there. There are some unfinished areas, hoping this change sooner. The water is cold, is a matter of wait for warmer temperatures. Also, I recommend arrive earlier because is crowded in the weekend.

People were swimming here before the beach. Nothing to see here folks. Overcrowded and dirty. Dead fish sometimes seen along the trails, garbage, gas slick that flows down from the marina. McDonald's wrappings, straws,cups and other litter found along the banks. Unfortunate, because it used to be a pleasure to walk there...I feel for the birds and wildlife.

Great place to swim when in Montreal. The only other Montreal beach by the clock tower has no access to the water and is not free unlike this beach. The change rooms are only open when the lifeguard is on duty though.

Do you like simmering in the untreated raw sewage, stepping on broken glass, abandoned fish hooks and line, and ancient underwater rebar galore? Do you like drunk reprobates making random fires and fighting each other? Buy some water shoes and enjoy this destruction of the natural waterfront not far from baie des capots. This project was originally supposed to be constructed near the natatorium, but the rich people up that part of lasalle blvd complained. Bring the kids. Bonus points for using scarce resources like sand for no reason.

Full of kids and noisy during the day. At least the pavement is not hot and you can walk on it without shoes. The washrooms and garbage are very far. The water didn't look as dirty as I thought. There were lots of lifeguards. Not much space and lots of dead grass.

Great place to enjoy with family or friends, small but nice. They have a changing area (around 5 small rooms) and Life Jackets for kids ( I loved) they all new and well organized. There are a lot of options for parking around. If you want to park near the beach area, is 3$ per hour, however you have a lot places in the streets near for free ( you just have to walk a little). I did not see washrooms but They are still building in the area , so maybe it will be done soon. They easy access ramp is not ready yet. As I said all is great, the only detail is that the water is really cold!!! ????. But we can not have it all right??

PROS: It's great to have a beach to swim within a short driving/walking distance from home. We visit almost every evening when we are in town. CONS: There should be clearly posted signs for dos and don'ts. The lifeguards instead go around telling every single person to not climb the rocks or other things. Verdun Beach is great if you live in the borough, but is also easy of access if you live near a metro station on the green line. Just get off at station de l'Eglise and walk south for 5 minutes. It's not a big beach, so expect a crowd on weekends and holidays.

Yes it's quaint beach (getting there early helps) but it's FREE when so few beaches around Montreal can boast the same thing. You can pay for parking or walk from the metro. Water is fresh (welcome to Canada), and there's a park for little ones. PRO tip: If you are uncomfortable with open water or beach is closed, there's a free public pool 2 min walk from the beach. In an age where everything requires paid access or a membership I salute the people's beach.

Was hoping to have a great time here, oh how we were wrong. First of all, this is not a beach. The sand sucks. The worst part of this are the lifeguards, man do they suck at their job and won't let you do anything. Kids can't mix the water in the sand, can't sit on rocks cause it's "dangerous." Place just opened and it's already dirty. Don't waste your time coming here. Will update review when I happen to come back.

The beach was overcrowded due to the first opening weekend. It's an ok beach in Montreal and not far from the metro station which is convenient. It is also free, so you can't really complain. The water was cold but that's just Montreal. Overall, the beach is a good spot.

A very small beach, but free and easily accessible. Lifeguard available for a small area. Otherwise you can walk along the river - there are nice rocky terrain to sit by and you can find people swimming in the river outside of the official guarded beach area.
