This Park is classified in the category of Dog park.
Great views and really clean!
Enclosed, fenced natural space for dogs to run and dog owners to chat and walk around. Poop bags available for free. Several garbage bins. Clean natural area far from traffic. Good parking close by.
The dog park itself is large, open, level ground - the perfect place to let you dog run around. Unfortunately, the experience is often ruined by some of the out of control, poorly behaved, and poorly trained folks who visit. People bring their unruly dogs here and pretend to ignore their unruly behavior. My experience with the dogs at this park has been 99% positive, but it's an entirely different story when it comes to their owners.
Me and the pooch had a great time, good sized space to stretch their legs out!
Good park but small. Often frequented by aggressive dogs and extremely friendly people. Also, the water tap is explosive so if you’re going to fill water, be careful!
I love the park! All dog owners are really friendly and take great care of their dogs
My fav spot to bring my dog to. He loves to meet new dogs and all the other dogs are always well behaved.
It's OK if you don't mind being threatened by owners, agressive dogs, or having your dog be attacked and you blamed for it by one of the cliques that regular here. Better places to be in similar distance, won't be returning.
Good space for dogs to play and enjoy
Crowded, but best views from top of little mountain
Great set up for a dog park.
It's not the best park in the city but it almost always has other dogs. There is water in the summer and the people are usually nice. Gets a bit too full on weekends sometimes
Pretty good I suppose. Some trees, some hills and the ground is covered in wood mulch. Lots of friendly dogs and people. Parking and trails nearby.
Its pretty large with open space and some trees as well. Lots of good friends to play with.
Well-laid-out; well kept. Accessible parking, dog bags provided, good garbage capacity, good ground cover (wood chip, not dirt), beautiful scenery.
Love to bring the dogs here. Always nice to let them run and meet other dogs
This dog park is a fantastic place to bring your pup for some socializing with other dogs. They also have very ample parking.
It’s a great place to let your dog run off leash! Lots of other dogs depending on the time of day.
Oh this place is amazing too specially for sunset, and for mountain biking great
Dog parks are always good or bad based on the quality of the other dog owners. McLennan tends to lean on the positive side. As a park its fine. The on-site water for safe drinking is a good thing, but there is a lack of shade for people and dogs alike, though sometimes you dont want people congregating anyway so kind of a give and take.
Decent park. What makes a decent park? Good, responsible owners who keep their dogs under watch, clean up after them and breakup play fights which get too agressive. Decent dog parks also have friendly owners who, whilst polite, seek community. As with any place there are those who spoil it. Some with very aggressive dogs, folks who can't seem to understand the importance of a controlled 2 gate entrance.. but they are few here. The park is almost always busy.
I give it a 2 star rating because it gets very wet and swampy at times depending on the weather which isn't ideal as there's a huggeee puddle right at the edge of the park for the dogs to attack. You're also not allowed to use or bring any toys which is odd considering you can at most other dog parks. Also its usually very busy and not very big.
Beautiful, well equipped park with water park, playground, basketball courts, volleyball courts, picnic areas, separate dog park and large open areas. In the wintertime there is well maintained sliding hills. This park has something for the whole family.
Your dog will love you! There is fence and all dog are friendly plus there looking in upgrading the park! Good things to come!
This park is amazing
Dogs are having fun here. My Milo went there for the first time. He got scared of the big dogs running around. Most of then are friendly.
Owners need to be better aware of their dogs and when they get too aggressive when playing.
PROS: Lots of space for dogs to run. Several benches for sitting scattered around. Water faucet providing fresh water. Friendly atmosphere among owners, most are very attentive to their pets and pick up after them. Lighting added for early/late visits. CONS: All trees were removed last year, so no shade available - No longer has varied terrain. Can be very muddy after heavy rain or spring thaw, although wood chips are applied everywhere a couple of times each year. No separate area for small dogs. Single entry/exit gate.
The spray park is a lot of fun the kids .
Huge space for dogs! My Brigitte loves it!!
Beautiful place to play and enjoy the summer weather! Very easy access from the main street but far enough away from it once you get in. Tons of parking, nice dog ???? park and picnic area. Splash pad is amazing!!!! Kids absolutely LOVE IT!!! One thing has to be addressed, bathrooms. I think all of them have to be open, especially for the busy season. Maybe even have some portable on site, in case main bathroom failed.
Large and open spaces. Lots of mulch to avoid mud...needs more mulch at the entrance. It would be nice if they had a green poop dispenser for composting the dog droppings (like other dog parks). Overall a great place for the fur-baby to run.
This was our first time here, and I was mostly impressed. This is a medium-sized park with mostly flat terrain. There appears to be wood chips spread over the whole park, and there are some bushes to explore as well. There are lights, but we were there in the day; people say it's not overly bright at night, though. There was a frozen pond area that was fenced off, as some people complained that it was muddy (in winter). A couple of items to note, and also why I didn't give 5 stars: First, there's a huge hole that appears to have been dug up by a dog. This could cause serious injury to dogs and people if they don't see it. Second, there is a large gate (for access by maintenance vehicles, I assume) that has large gaps. It will stop big dogs, and medium sized dogs may have to wiggle a bit to get through, bit smaller dogs could easily walk through or under the gate. We will definitely return, though I hope they fix the problems I mentioned above. If not I will contact the city - I understand they act on users' requests, as mentioned above.
Nice park, the splash pad is nice a big so good for social distancing. Can only enter on Blackthorne. The ice cream truck visits. Lots of parking and sports areas
Very cool space from what it used to be(dump pile to tobbogann on) Amazing public space! For all ages. BIG CONCERN though is the unsafe public art. I do public art works in Toronto.Never have a viewed an awarded art project that was so unsafe. The artist obviously have no idea how to weld aluminum.Lack of fusion on all the weld. Cracking support pcs, this art installation will fall and kill someone very soon. The artist should forgo payment and a certified welder be paid to redo entirety of the welds on this PC. See below pictures. Horrifying that this was even allowed to be delivered, and obviously didn't undergo the normal inspections required by the city??? Absolutely crazy, take this down and repair before it falls hurting a child or property of the park users!!
Nice space dogs were pretty behaved not really any aggressive dogs while we were there.
It's really a great place for everybody.
Not all owners can control their dogs and other dogs have been attacked.
Something for all ages and interests with a leash-free dog park, playground, splash pad, beach volleyball, basketball, bike park and walking trails.
It's nice if you manage to find it when it's near empty. Most people ignore the keep moving and don't form packs rule though which sucks because my dog is mostly blind and he gets really nervous when the big packs run up to him.
My dog loves this park. It has enough room to keep the tension away. Shes very comfortable here. I only have videos of her at the park and cant share here, so heres a pic of kitty!
Great place the people were kind and there dogs were all well behaved we like it there and will keep going back
They have their own dog bags! Nice place to let the dogs go and disappear into the bushes. My little latte loves this place and it's a safer environment to let her interact with big dogs
Brought our labradoddle for the first time, the fenced in area is nice with lots of areas to explore and play. They have bags on site for picking up poop if you forgot to bring some and they have garbage cans that are accessible from inside the fenced area.
We go all the time... great trails to walk the dogs
Unfortunately there are no dog parks near me in NW Waterloo, so went there for the first time. It started great but when I was about to leave, I witnessed a violent dog attack not even 5 feet away. I mean violent. Don’t risk going here as ignorant dog owners attend this park and they don’t care about the safety of other dogs. And shout out to the City of Waterloo - WE NEED MORE DOG PARKS!
Can't say much currently but I've always went to the one at Kiwanis, this park has way more dogs and makes it enjoyable for my pup, lots of people and dogs show up and always super friendly! My pup is starting to actually play with a pack of others instead of always sticking by me.
Always plenty of dogs. Poop bags provided and water tap and bowl for drinks (seasonal) . Open area and bushy area for plenty of play areas
This is the happiest place in the world for doggos and humans alike. :)
My dog loves this place
Our dogs love it here. Very rarely see smaller dogs though. All of the other owners always seem nice as well. Only once in 25 visits was there an aggressive dog. We've been to the Waterloo dog park twice and have had horrible experiences there. We'll always go to McLennan now.
Nice place for evening walks, dog walks. Feels like a new place everytime you visit here
Great park!
Very spacious, great equipment. Fantastic place to take your kids.
It’s great here! People are nice and the dogs are well behaved. I really enjoy it.
Nice to have water and shade for the dogs to play and explore in but no relief from the sun for owners
The best dog park in KW! Lots of space and TONS of friendly dogs that regularly go there. It's always busy, clean running water within the enclosure and fenced.
Good spot
My girl loves the park I do as well it's very clean the only thing is that the splash pad is very slippery can be dangerous
One of few dog parks so it gets a good rating. Most of the dogs are trained. Few piles of other dogs poo around. Poop bags located at the entry. Beware of dog owners that are too soft to raise children so they validate themselves through their dogs
Great area to let your dog run
Garbages changed regularly, water taps and buckets, nice park. Responsible owners for the most part
Since our border colie mix got its rabies shots we have been going to dog parks. we have heard the reputation of this park but thought we would try. Out of 10 visits to this park only 2 have been good as the others have been large aggressive dogs attacking our dog sometimes when he isn't even interacting with them. The owners of a good chunk of the dogs that go here are more interested in congregating and chit chatting than watching their dog. They more or less eye roll when their dog attacks yours. Please don't go here and find a different dog park. The good times we went were in the middle of the day during thw week and there were other dogs that seemed much more well mannered.
If your dog is a bit shy it's not a good park.. There are a few owners who encourage or at least let their dogs work out their aggressive play tendencies and if your dog is timid they don't seem to care (dog owners)
Love coming here with my nephew there's a nice park and water Park area. Love bringing dogs here as well
My grandkids had a great time they love to go to Mclenns Park..
I have two dogs, small to medium in size. The big dogs are always stepping on them and pushing them around to the point where mine don't want to even run and instead just sit between my feet. This was a problem 3 years ago when we stopped going here and it isn't any better now. The owners of the big aggressive dogs are usually aggressive themselves and it makes for a terrible outing with frustration all around. A small dog area would make it great.
People are not picking up their dogs waste ???? ???? ???? there is sh¥t everywhere. People just don't realize that this is a privilege to have a dog park.
Hit or miss depending on how busy and if owners are being responsible and supervising their dogs watching their body language. It can be mucky at times weather dependent. Does have water station for dogs but water is shut off currently. Nice area park overall.
I love this dog park. I have always heard so many bad things about it however my dogs have always had a great time going. It is a good sized gated park with a fairly easy trail so dogs won't get hurt as they run and chase each other.
Great people and even better dogs
Well kept, clean park. Great, warm dog owners bringing their furry friends to play off leash. Fenced in area offers open area, wooded area and lots of variation to keep dogs interested!
Awesome place to let your dog have fun and very nice people.
Good place to play with your dog and hang out with the kids
Great splash pad. Interesting and fun play ground. A wonderful meeting place for all cultures.
First time we brought our puppy to a dog park, we weren't sure what to expect, but the fun he had and the smile running around with other dogs was priceless. There's poop bags there if you forget your own and everyone is super friendly especially since our dog is still learning and not sure what the process is. The grounds were a mix of mud, grass and wood chips, double gated entrance way and water with bowls is available. Can't wait to bring our dog back!
Dog parking is ok, but City of Kitchener is terrorizing people with some car equipped with cameras. Don't get surprised if you receive fine by mail. They scan your plates there and send fines if park is overcrowded!!!
Nice dog park with enough space for dogs to socialise or to find their space. Mainly mid to large sized dogs here. Most people are watchful of their dogs. Good place for people to socialise too. Good that people step in when they think their dogs are getting a little too rough or assertive. The dogs here really play and tire themselves out here. The dogs mainly figure it out on their own if people allow them. People are good are picking up after their dogs. Of course, there may be the irresponsible dog owners but I have not come across them yet.
Great place with something for everyone
Nice walk?????
The dog park was really nice the had disposable waste bags as you walk in for anyone that may have forgotten them. There were some muddy areas but this early in the season it's to be expected. My dog really enjoyed playing there with the other dogs. The other dog owners were pretty good about keeping an eye out for their dogs. Overall a good experience and will definitely repeat the visit. Recommend to anyone that is in the area to check it out with there four legged friend.
One of the best dog parks in the area. It has lights at night which is nice especially in winter. Could use some more maintenance especially for pooling water.
Clean park. Mostly friendly dogs and owners ????
Great spot. Lots to do, we'll kept.
Great place to give your dog some exercise and a chance to interact with other dogs. Would be nice if people obeyed signs and did not bring their small children who are inevitably knocked over by some excited pooch. There is water available.
This is where dog owners go to socialize and ignore their dogs and park rules. It was much nicer before they cut down the mini-forest. Now it's just a muddy, fenced area. Do yourself and your dog a favour, go for an actual walk. If you absolutely must visit a dog park, Bechtel is best.
Luv to let my girl run she needs it so do I????
Very nice park. Some amateur dog owners. Mostly educated owners.
Not a bad place. My dog really loves to come here. The other owners are usually very friendly and there is enough room for my dog to run around with the others. There are three benches so the owners can sit and relax while their dogs run around. They also have a bowl with fresh water which is very nice of them as anyone who has taken their dog on a run in summer knows- dogs get VERY thirsty. The location is very nice. I typically walk my dog up the hill and around the trails before ending up at the dog park where I let her run around to get the rest of her energy out. It gets REALLY muddy in the spring and fall, so be prepared for that. Would recommend.
City has done a good job with filling in the low spots so not as many puddles and mud. Your dog used to leave here filthy. Not 5 stars as there is no shade, some reason they cut down all the trees.
Wish it wasn't so far of a walk to get to the gates. The dogs get too excited on the way down. ???????? This is our favorite dog park though. Not happy they relocated the water. My dogs LOVE it regardless which makes me love it ❤
Nice open space with some trees and brush. Water was still turned off so bring your own. Lots of mud this time of year as it could use more wood chips. Lots of poop bags available.
Some muddy spots after rains, but nice outer walking area.
I don’t understand what people think when they bring there aggressive dog to dog parks. Past 2 mornings this couple brings there fluffy husky that is not trained. …
Always room to improve! ????
Big park, nice little walk, the basketball court is full of hopes and dreams and the vollyball court is full of young aspiring volliers. The skate park is nice touch as well
Really amazing park. View is awesome . Best park in Kitchener.
Need to get rid of birrs
Very poor experience in the 1st 10seconds being there! Majority of the dog owners there are very nice and friendly. Then there are 2 that are very abusive ! 1 thinks she owns the park while the other has no control of her dog and sprays …
Good free place for dogs to run around with no leash.
