Beautiful park with great walking/jogging trails that gives you a variety of routes to take to keep each visit fresh. I also appreciate the bathroom facilities which are spread out throughout the park as well. The sports fields and amenities offer many options, sparks my curiosity about how many different sports you can play here?? Just a guess...say 20?? Also of that isn't enough they are now hosting the second movie drive-in with online booking for tickets. And last but not least the variety of wildlife that can be seen here is awesome and theres plenty of sandy beach too lounge and get your tan on as well!

Beautiful park, and something for everyone. Bike and walking path around the entire park, places to picnic, watch the ducks, and many marmots scurrying to and fro along the trails. Fields a-plenty for baseball, soccer, etc but on days when there's not many scheduled activities, it's a leisurely bike ride through a pretty park. A great place to picnic and just hang out for an afternoon.

Very fortunate to have such a huge space like this in the city. A long paved walking trail, Frisbee and miniature golf course, ball and soccer fields, a skate park, more marmots than you can count, beautiful views, lots of wildlife (especially deer), arenas, and special events like the drive-in theatre. Locally it's referred to as Mac Island, even though it's a Mc just like Fort Mac / McMurray. So people probably spell it wrong lots.

There can be multiple tournaments going on at one time so give yourself time to find parking and then walking to the field. Also getting out can be very slow due to the one way road around the park. Other then that the setup is amazing. Bring your own shade as the trees around the park are not around the ball fields.

Great park with cycling / jogging trails all around. Driving range, mini golf, bmx track, skate park, sports complex and several sports fields. There's always something going on to see or do. Parking In some areas can be a challenge when there are large events going on but there is always extra parking in other areas of the park.

It's really big, there's a lot of things to do there you can totally make a day of it with family or friends for fun or alone for quiter enjoyments. There are multiple bathrooms around so that's always nice. Bring a bathing suit and towel in the warmer weather cause it's got river all around it.

When when ever I visit family in Kamloops we head down to McArthur Park for a walk around the island. World class sports fields surrounded by nature. A trail, paved, around the perimeter takes you along the edge of the Thompson river. There is a lot of birdlife and you will definitely see marmots hanging out near the river bank. There is also a beautiful butterfly garden and fitness park.

Amazing 3.5 km walk! We saw crows, 2 Bald eagles, Canada geese, mallard ducks, Golden eagle (watching the ducks), a squirrel and then a river otter! Wow unexpected nature walk extraordinaire!

I would highly suggest going there at least once! It is not about video quality or sound, it is about the experience. Staff there was very good at giving directions and making sure you got a good spot. Rest is up to you to decide wether you want to watch movie or chat your ears off!! No one would know ????

Extremely well maintained. Lots of soccer fields baseball diamonds paved Pathway to walk the perimeter of the entire park. Even in a wheelchair. Dogs are not allowed fortunately or unfortunately depending upon your viewpoint. Lots of trees and vegetative growth. Is Not Unusual to see deer grazing near the paved path. You can literally walk past them and they will not run away a lot of the time. There are also a lot of river views along the path. Marmots are also quite common and curious along the path. Benches with views of the river are scattered along the path as well. Individuals Jog and families walk and ride bikes around the park. People are friendly and usually wave hello as you pass them going the other way. We love it! Yes I almost forgot! There is a former 9-hole golf course that has been converted to a Frisbee Golf Course. And it is free. As well as a little mini golf course that is quite well maintained not fancy but fun. And it is also free. Bring your own balls in your own putter. Enjoy!

Beautiful park to have lunch, take your kids to the park, send your kid to the skatee park, watch baseball, watch soccer, watch lawn bowling (if you're into that lol), exercise (walk, run, roller blade, or bike), workout out (they have excise machines!), & watch hockey and or curling (in the arena) You can even feed marmots, during the summer. All in all, it's amazing. I even just take 5 minutes or of my day, just to drive through the park.

The place is beautiful, but the entire island is no dogs allowed. Thus the 2 stars - couple for landscaping. I often visit Kamloops to see family and it seems to me, out of all the cities I travel to, the Loops could be the least dog friendly city I've been to. Huge green spaces throughout the city that are not dog friendly, not even on a leash, just simply not welcome. The first thing seen on the entrance to McArthur Island is a "no dogs allowed" sign. And while I'm here on a sunny Sunday, there are barely people here. I don't understand why doggy discrimination is in place. There are more geese than people. Maybe that's not the issue, but then I don't know the issue. It seems misguided to me. Yet consistent North and South of the bridge. Shrug emoji, annoyed emoji.

Was easy to find a quiet place to park in the shade. It is everything a park should be. Huge fields of soccer and baseball players, Walker's strollers and bird or nature watchers. Always a cool breeze from waterways cooling you on a hot day or shade from the trees if you need it. Sports center is usually open and concession runs a decent fryer. My main complaint: goose pop and I think it's a no dogs allowed park.

McArthur Island Park has a lot to offer the people of Kamloops. The entire park is ringed with a path that's enjoyed by people walking, running, cycling, etc. The inner park has multiple fields for soccer and baseball, with a 9 hole golf course at the west end and a lawn bowling facility at the east end. The McArthur Island skate park is used by young people from all across the city. You'll see people on skateboards, scooters, bicycles, and more.

The place to come to meet overly social yellow bellied marmots:) The walking loop is about 5km so makes a good workout loop in the morning. A focus on sporting events is mainly what draws people. Speed limit is 30km..most people do 50-60km. So pay attention when on the road

I love this place. So much to do here. From just walking the path to geocaching, to multiple sporting fields there are endless opportunities to be outside and enjoy the day. Plus Marmots! There are several families of marmots that chill on the riverbanks by benches where you can sit and watch them do their marmoty things.

We love going to McArthur Island Park Forest rolls at night and it's also a great place to take photos. However from all the money they invested at this park they completely cheaped out on the kids playground! There are no wheelchair or stroller accessible paths to the playground, and there are zero places to sit for parents. The skatepark however has everything it's too bad they overlooked the children that also play here.

This park is nice to walk around, good for sports and tournaments. The skate park is dope. It could use a better kids park possibly away from the skate park so little kids could play safely. I've found nuts and bolts that have fallen out of the playground over the years. It's too close to the skate park so little kids tend to gravitate toward there or teenage girls take it over as a lounge area to watch the skaters.

Multi - purpose park, with fields for soccer, and baseball plus an Indoor baseball practice building and Baseball stadium. Lawn bowling, 18 hole free mini golf, disc golf and skateboard zone. There is also a section of outdoor gym equipment for strength n coordination. The arena has two full size hockey rinks with bleachers, curling area near front entrance and a concession stand which opens for games(after covid). Area upstairs for meetings n banquets. The pathway around the park is popular with walkers n cyclists. They are maintained year round. Boat launch on river side closest to arena, plus overnight camping for contained rv's n trailers. The real bonus is the amount of wildlife that also call McArthur Island home. Washrooms located at far end and by arena. Something for everyone.

MacArthur Island Park is beautiful. They have many amenities from a baseball diamond with bleachers and lights. There are many many soccer fields, as well as the skate park, and a boat launch located in the southeast corner of the park. They have golfing, however I do not know if it is just a driving range and minigolf course, or if there is a full 9-18 hole course...

Visited the skate park with my little for her first day on her skateboard. She was nervous but excited. Everyone was super accommodating and respectful of one another's space. There was a great mix of young and older participants and the was no apparent segregation. My little and I had such a great time we'll be back regularly and with enthusiasm.

Depending on the time you are here this is an okay place. During the day there are plenty of fields and baseball diamonds to use. The local teams practice here (outside of COVID) which is kinda cool. During the night this is an ill lit, large property covered with buildings that offer good protection from cold, wind, and prying eyes. It can be a dangerous place to be after sunset if you are alone. Pokémon Go has done quite a bit of good, bringing way more people all through the night, but there are always sketchy people doing sketchy things. Pretty normal for this part of town. Pretty in the spring and fall, especially if you follow the "Native Plant Trail".

Wonderful park with many activities including a dedicated walking/cycling path, disc golf, baseball, tennis, and other sporting facilities. Lots of marmots and geese around mind your feet. Quite accustomed to people being around but the geese will get defensive of their goslings. There are also outdoor gyms available for public use.

It's a great park! Mc Arthur Island is scenic, with great walking paths. I personally love the area with the little bridge where people are often feeding the ducks. Sometimes you can see turtles if you look down into the water.

Great place for an autumn walk. Lots of wildlife including deer,geese,ducks,crows and marmots. The crows were busy with acorns today and that was quite entertaining. Saw evidence of fresh activity by beavers. We once saw one on the sidewalk and at first were unsure what it was, having never seen one out of water. All in all it was a wonderful day for a walk.

Great location with good on site services. We attended for the two day gun show. Great show well attended and well run. Parking is a major concern. Access and exits are very limited and late arrivals can fund themselves walking a few miles to attend the function.

Very impressed with facility while there to watch grandson's hockey windup. A tad cool compared to memorial arena but none the less a great learning arena for youngsters.

Spent ALOT of time here, for years, when my (now adult) boys played ball here. Still come with Hubby to get in a good walk! Great place for alot of family time, sport oriented or not. The dyke/walkway upgrade looks like its going to have lots of foot traffic :)

New playground at Mac Island! Some great new structures over by the mini golf. We managed to spend most of the morning here. Playground is well constructed and has multiple play areas. Logs, spikes, swings, slides and a great in-ground merry-go-round. Was a huge hit with the kids and we will be certain to return!!

Just love my walk along the old golf course always see some beautiful deer and love seeing the duck although it could use a little sand on the path so I don't fall and break my neck other than that lovely walk

This park is huge, it is way beyond your expections, it has got a skaters park, many soccer fields, baseball fields and a unique disc golf place. It is a must try place for a picnic or biking or running. Disc golf is one of the most exciting sports this place has.

We went to go take our two year old daughter to the park for a walk and bike ride which she loves. Forgetting about the playground they have until she saw it. Which was well maintained an clean for the small children we saw playing there with us. We will definitely be back for some more fun with our family!
