This is the best beach in Newfoundland. The best sand in the world is found here, softer then any sand I've found. There is a lovely freshwater swimming hole at the far end of the beach. Where the freshwater meets the ocean is an incredible lazy river of sorts that is very unique.

Is not a dog friendly place. No dogs allowed on the beech. Parking is like being in a Mad Max movie.

Only getting a star because I have to so I can comment. Do not go here with a tent. They have 3 sites only for it and only one was fit to use and it was being used. It should advertise as a RV Park only. Site 39 is dangerous in my opinion. Remember it's my opinion.

One of Nls most Beautiful natural sandy beach to explore and enjoy with the whole family. Bring a bbq , sandwiches or good takeout food in the area..Well worth the 1hr20min drive from St.john's, especially on a nice summers day and don't forget to bring your bathing suit and a towel. ???????????? Have fun!!!

Great spot! The beach is nice, the sand is fine. And the much warmer water of the freshwater run off is great for kids. Tenting was enjoyable. Good sites, included firepit on each site, complementary box of wood for burning. Washroom and shower facilities close by. And even Wi-fi at the site for the kids to occupy themselves before bed while the folks burn off the last of the wood. Will definitely be back!

One of our FAVORITE places to visit during summer. Soft sand feels so nice under your feet! We LOVE the freshwater swimming area. The water is as warm as bathwater. Running into the Atlantic, makes for a fun spot to hang for the day. Bring food, water and sand toys, and stay the day!

Beach ,fresh water access, and spacious..absolutely lovely. However, the outhouse(toilet), WOW! TOTALLY DISGUSTING. In these times ESPECIALLY, I had visit Gushue park just recently as well as others this whole summer, I have never seen this kind of dirty and unbearable stench from a single outhouse as I have at NorthernBay Sands.

Great soft, sandy beach within easy reach of St. John’s. Shallow and (for the North Atlantic) warm. Freshwater swimming at the North/far end of beach. Change rooms and staff to help find parking. Entry fee is cash-only, $8 per car as of summer 2020. Weekly and yearly passes possible to purchase. Four stars because it was so popular on the day we visited that (at 1pm) we had to wait 30 minutes in line to get entrance.

Northern Bay Sand is one of the awesome beaches in NL. A small river joins with the Atlantic Ocean here and this river was amazing. Although ocean was cold (as around 10 C), the river water was much warmer and enjoyable. We nearly 15 people of different families had fun here. We swam in the river, enjoyed potluck lunch, and even played volleyball on the beach. It is highly recommended for anyone on a sunny day!

A great little out of the way beach and camping park. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a bit of an adventure in Newfoundland with a real gem waiting for you at the end of your trip. The beach is beautiful and kept clean. The ocean is available for swimming for those hardy enough or there is a more comfortable freshwater swimming hole as well. Caplin also land on the beach and you can swim with schools if you are there at the right time.

Awesome beach, plenty of room, cabins just next door and camp grounds. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Freshwater swimming hole located on the north side of the beach. Great spot for families. If you have a doggy, be sure to leave him/her home as there are no dogs allowed on the beach.

The 8 dollar day pass is too high just to park next to loud trailers and terrible facilities. The bathrooms were closed and the outhouses were filthy! Dogs are not allowed on the beach, which I don’t understand because I believe they have no authority to enforce this on a public beach. The staff was also rude, a man came into the ladies washroom and pounded on the washroom doors telling everyone to get out, I can only assume he was the maintenance man, so disturbing! The only positive was the beautiful beach. Disappointed.

When you get to the beach walk far up the beach until you get to the fresh water waterfall. The water is very warm there. Only drawback is everyone goes there so it can be packed.
