You will see the information of real people who have information of the products of Dundurn Park (Park) in the area of Hamilton (Canada).
Now this firm has a rating of 4.6 over 5 and the rating is based on 127 reviews.
As you can read, its rating is nearly the best one, and it is based on a very high number of opinions, so we can think that the valuation is quite credible. If many people have bothered to leave their score when they are happy, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to write feddbacks when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Park corresponds to the category of Park.
Took our family for March Break and had a great time. The hour long tour was fun and tour guide Philip was entertaining (the tarts in the kitchen were also much appreciated). There were many activities for the children to explore while waiting for the tour to begin. Our girls had fun making masks, painting, and dressing up for the photo booth. A great experience especially for the price. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again.
Feels like you stepped into a Jane Austen scene
Great place for a small picnic.
Nice little gem in the city. Grounds are beautifully kept and lots of shade from the beautiful canopy of trees
Nice park and grounds but tours are closed until Aug 10th. Looks like an estate not castle. I'm sure it's gorgeous inside though.
Awsome place fr spending eve
Not open yet due to covid but great to walk about.
It's such a tranquil place to relax
The grounds overlooking the waterfront and the castle itself are well-maintained. Perfect for a stroll.
Nice place surrounded by nice views nice in the summer.
Beautiful property for an outdoor wedding ceremony!
Luv this place. So beautiful. Anyone who rates this place bad doesnt appreciate the beautiful work put into building this castle. Had a wonderful young man with a wedding party pay for my family.
This ancient villa or Dundurn / house on the hill, was a great visit into the livings of the historic family. With 42 rooms, including potties i figure, they had a lot of space. Well decorated and restored. The tour guide Jennifer, was extremely friendly, informative, and must importantly not boring. Three levels of bedrooms, living rooms, tea rooms and the living quarters of the 10 or so support maids, butlers, cooks, instilled a sense of what it might have been to eat, sleep and live here at the Dundurn Castle.
Great place to take a stroll and makes for a great photo backdrop!
Great place to explore the environs around Dundurn Castle. The Kitchen Garden that provides heritage produce to the castle kitchen is a lovely place to wonder. Staff dressed in period costumes tend to the garden. There is a lovely walk through the maples at the rear of the Castle that leads to a spectacular view point.
Built in 1830s this castle connected with British royalties is a must-watch for those who would like to have a peek into Sir Allan MacNab's life, to learn history and technologies used, and to have closer look at the everyday artifacts. The castle also hosts a small museum in the Information centre for First World War. Don't miss that too. You won't be disappointed.
Dundurn Castle is a historic neoclassical mansion on York Boulevard in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The 18,000-square-foot (1,700 m2) house took three years and $175,000 to build, and was completed in 1835.[1] The forty room castle featured the latest conveniences of gas lighting and running water.[1] It is currently owned by the City of Hamilton, which purchased it in 1899 or 1900 for $50,000.[2][1] The City has spent nearly $3 million renovating the site to make it open to the public.[1] The rooms have been restored to the year 1855 when its owner Sir Allan Napier MacNab, 1st Baronet, was at the height of his career. Costumed interpreters guide visitors through the home, illustrating daily life from the 1850s. The Duchess of Cornwall, a descendant of Sir Allan MacNab, is the Royal Patron of Dundurn Castle. Dundurn Castle, a Regency house, was completed in 1835 by architect Robert Charles Wetherell.[3] MacNab purchased the property from Richard Beasley, one of Hamilton's early settlers, when financial difficulties forced Beasley to sell lands at Burlington Heights (present day Dundurn Park), and MacNab built Dundurn Castle on the foundations of Beasley's brick home.[4] Once built, Dundurn Castle became famous all over the country for its grand entertainments. Sir John A. Macdonald and King Edward VII are among those who have been entertained there.[5] Sir Allan MacNab, later Premier of the united Province of Canada between 1854 and 1856, hired architect Robert Wetherall and construction of this stately home was completed in 1835. The pillars and portico were added in 1855 as part of the preparations for the wedding of MacNab's daughter Sophia.[6] After MacNab's death, the estate was used as an institution for deaf mutes, then was purchased in 1872 by Donald McInnes, who sold Dundurn to the City of Hamilton in 1899.[2] In the late 1960s, it was restored as a Centennial project. It is now designated as a National Historic Site of Canada. A Strathspey for bagpipes was composed in honour of Dundurn Castle.[7]
Nice little park featuring some historical sites
Beautiful park stunning spot to take pictures. Needs more benches/places to sit
This is an amazing place to visit. There is so much culture in Dundurn Castle and it would be amazing to visit the museum with one of the guided tours. It has a nice trail that joins the waterfront trail and you can enjoy both the view and the walk. When we got here, there was a large filming crew filming beside the castle which was interesting to watch.
Beautiful park but even more beautiful and useful is the garden. Thanks to all the volunteers planting and caring for the vegetables, spices, flowers and medicinal plants.
Awesome place to just relax and chill
It's quiet place in the winter plus the COVID , so not much people around there .
A beautiful place.
No matter what weather D.Park is the best parks .. amazing views
we always go here on weekends. very close to our apartment. place is so nice and clean.
Great times x
A really cool piece of history to learn about Canada and how people lived during the 1850s.
Hamilton has an amazing variety of walking trails and amazing views. Always something interesting around the next corner!
So nice to have a Socially distanced tour of this beautiful building.
Beautiful spot on the grounds of Dundurn Castle.
A nice park by the Dundurn Castle and along the York looking onto Hamilton Bay waters.
Great park for a picnic. Free parking, huge park and not so busy.
A little piece of History. Nice place to roll out a blanket and enjoy a sunny afternoon.
Good weekend getaway for your daily city life. Was closed on Good Friday.
this is super recommend for you who love historical story. The guide super talkative
One of my favorite sites in the city. Lots of history stretching from pre european settlements through the battle of 1812 and on through the victorian era. West of the park you can see more of the ramparts from the British fort that once existed there. At one time the walls surrounded the grounds of the park but were removed in the 1960s~c.
Beautiful grounds & interesting historic building tour (once you can!)
The day started with the guy in the gift shop. He was friendly, funny, and awesome. Our tour guide Jennifer was great. She was informative and witty. At the end of the tour, the chef served snacks that were quite tasty. We had a great time!
It's a little over rated. Nice old building. Cemetery across the street looks more interesting.
Nice place for a walk
Beautiful scenery. Not far from a hidden forest trail Gorgeous architecture and a place to go to if you want to feel at peace
A lot of open grass area. Lovely during all seasons. Great views while walking. Could use more garbage cans to minimize garbage.
Very interesting. Knowledgeable guide
Very informative touŕ of Dundurn castle
Good place for photoshoot
a nice place for a walk. Or a ski.
Nice place to have picnic, a lot of shady area under mature trees, unless you want to go inside the castle, the park itself, and the parking, are free
And very well-done portrayal of life in the past and great efforts to connect you with how they lived.
Such a beautiful park. There's lots of parking which is nice.
Took the tour of the museum a few years ago and absolutely loved it! Since then the are had only gotten nicer and view from here is always breathtaking!
Lovely place to walk and spend the day. Especially the cemetery on the other side of the street ????
Lovely historic place for a walk!
Its the best place to see in core downtown Hamilton . Historical values and nice landscape is the most beautiful thing here
Such a historic edifice and beautiful grounds. They say Camilla stayed here as she is related to the family. It's a nice place for a tour or picnic!
Nice place for a walk or picnic.
Went with the family on May 5th and it was free admission that day. Although it was a self guided tour, we still learnt a lot and enjoyed our time there.
Great park. It's too bad BLM defaced it by writing with paint in many locations.
Beautiful park
Nice beautiful place for family to visit
Beautiful place to walk around the grounds..
Nice place and park to visit, Dundurn Castle museum, a nice walk along edging a wide looking view siding into Hamilton and Skyway bridge, as well as all the natural edge of the bay, worth the visit, walk or exercise.
Its quiet and peaceful. The fall colors are amazing
Beautiful, at all seasons! A must go to if you want some good photos
Nice place to go for a walk, bike or run. Good for outdoor exercise with a beautiful view of Lake Ontario. Not ideal for people who wants peace and quiet as this is a high traffic area/close to a main road.
Beautiful views!
Great place for a walk around the grounds
Awesome place. The house is beautifully restored to give visitors insight into what life was like for the colonial elite in the Victorian era. The best part is the guides, who take you through something like 40+ rooms and recite the history of the house from memory and with great enthusiasm. Easily comparable to Casa Loma but greatly underappreciated.
Always a nice outdoor area for walking
Great tour of the castle!
Good place if you are looking to spend time. The ticket was $12 which includes the tour and the entrance foe the museum.
Beautiful park to go and allow the kids time outdoors during lockdown.
Gorgeous view, excellent history. The grounds are beautiful as is looking out into lake ontario and hamilton harbour.
Excellent place to go, you will need 1 hr aprox for you visit no more than that. Each tour is around 20 to 30 minutes with a guide. It is very interesting, i really enjoyed a lot and my 4 kids too, they also have 2 exposition like militar museum that is interactive especially for the kids, they can play with some toys and music instruments etc. The mansion was very cool, and the tour is very informative. They also offer some cookies in the kitchen, that was very nice. Great experience! For a very affordable price we paid 32 dolars for a group of 2 adults and 4 kids.
Must see place!!
Popular spot in Hamilton to visit on a good day. Popular for its royal aesthetics and great for photoshoots with the family or weddings. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a scenic walk.
Really nice place to walk andbtake pictures. I really appreciate the free parking.
A great place for visit it with family. You can spend here more than 3h. Lovely nature, great excursion and very amazing place inside.
Nice quiet place to just sit and relax or even play with the kids.

Wonderful history of the family and times.
Awsome place for photography
I love it if you haven't been just go walk around great landscaping.
A really cool walk back in time experience. I have been many times and each time I come to Dundurn castle there’s always something new to discover

A nice place to visit in a sunshine day, also for a bike ride and a picnic
very beautiful place to visit good for Photographers who shoot outdoor
Dundurn Castle is just wonderful to experience, especially at Christmas time. They have now renovated and opened new rooms to view and walk through. So if you have not attended the castle in more than 2 years or have never been to Dundurn Castle, take the time to visit with family or friends or even by yourself.
My kids and I love to walk here on weekends!
Great Canadian history lesson! Loved our visit!
One of my favorite places to do paranormal investigations.
Went there specially for a walk! Was nice! Warm day but the breeze at times felt nice!
Old ,historically, well preserved .
its pretty cool to go see. its closed right now due to covid. but you can still wander around the area. just cant go in.
Beautiful park, wish they had open houses on the weekend.
A must see for any history buffs. A great afternoon visit and the tour guides fill you in on things you never knew. This is back during the last snow fall.
Top notch historical site. Highly recommend a visit to learn about the 1800s history of Upper Canada.
Great place for having a picnic. The castle is nice but the timings seem too short, it closes quite early. We went in the evening so did not get to go inside.
We took one of the ghost tours at the Dandurn Park. It was a great history lesson. Loved how the tour guides were all dressed and were so knowledgeable about all the things at Dundurn. Would love to take the tour during the day to see the difference. There was so much history, art, and stories that went with it.
It will see better days again. It's unfortunate that the grounds/garden couldn't be maintained for the public while we're all spending so much time gathering outdoors. * I have been back again more recently and things appear to have improved.
Amazingly well kept property that takes you on a journey back in time. The tour guides really know the history and are willing to provide answers to any and all questions posed. A great afternoon spent learning about the history of Dundurn and Hamilton.
Feels like I’m on a cruise when here
Very cool park the castle is awesome and my only issue was the loud noise from below by the water from the factory workers overall good expierence at dundurn park.
DUNDURN CASTLE Historical Mansion. Wonderful tour. The docent was very friendly and explained everything well. Worth a stop if you are in the area visiting.
Beautiful site for pics
Space. The final frontier. These are my voyages, as I look for places to unwind and maybe find new friends in steel town.
Beautifully tended park with awesome history to explore (even during covid with the museums closed). A tranquil space to take a breather, sip a Tim's and enjoy the view of the bay from the Heights.
Great parking and taking a walk across the street in the beautiful old cemetery is a plus!
Dundran castle is a real place where you can feel history come alive. You can almost hear the roar of the cannon fire and smell the burnt powder. All in all a fantastic day with your family is to be had here.
Always one of my favorite places to visit in the spring and summer. If you've never had a tour of the castle it should definitely be on your to-do list. The grounds are great for walking
Beautiful place and all people who work there are so nice. Special thanks to the lady from the kitchen for her hospitality and a shortbreads! Yum!
Great place to go for a walk or shoot wedding/birthday pictures.
Great experience for the history lovers
Great place to take photos
Fantastic! Good tour with the kids and nice memories of our wedding
Clean park. Castle closed due to Covid. Say under a tree and ate lunch . Beautiful grass area.
Great place for photos.
The grounds are well maintained and free from litter.
A great place to walk around and take photos. The building itself has beautiful architecture and the grounds surrounding it are well kept and maintained. There's usually a garden that you can walk through and tours but it seems they've stopped for the time being.
Great for pictures, picnics and kids. It's not open but you can wonder around the building
I like anything to do with history and castles.. there's the castle, kitchen garden, grounds, historical site coach house.. Lovely place to send for an afternoon..
Well kept and nicely located
It was wonderful taking a trip to Hamilton from Toronto, the Castle is beautiful we were unable to visit the herb garden it was to open late august, the grounds are beautiful with plenty of picnic tables also dog friendly on leash
Great place for a photo shoot
Amazing place.Make sure to bring your ID card if you are a student at McMaster University as they provide a free tour. Recently, they have changed their policy as anyone having a Hamilton library card can also avail a free your. It was a great experience especially knowing about the McNab family and their struggle. Some of the articles inside the castle will give a sense of luxury.
Great area for a walk. Scenery is the best.
We were at Dundurncastle as a starting point for a ghost tour
Great tour. Great tour guide!
Some great spots for wedding pics
Gorgeous property. Perfect place for a picnic

Nice place to take your family and unwind...great for a photo session too
Peaceful.. clean.
We totally enjoyed our visit to Dundurn Park. A truly beautiful and historical spot. The guide who led us through did a wonderful job of explaining each and every feature as we came upon them.
Dundurn Estate is beautiful ! Very pleasant place to enjoy nature !
It's a history lesson from which one can learn, very interesting.
Always nice
I just stopped on my bike for a smoke.. it has been maybe 10 years since I spent any time there.. it was a nice day on 3 day weekend.. people picnicing under the pavilions.. garbage can was full which was good to see the park wasn't being disrespected.. better view of bay in other 3 seasons thou
Okay park for a walk, it would have been better if the garden was open
Nice place to go for a walk or just relax with family's
Lovely day beautiful area!
Quiet Shadey and Relaxing.
I love Dundurn Castle inside & out walking the Dundurn grounds viewing the Castle Community Kitchen Garden & to view from the edge Hamilton Bayfront! At least walking around & respecting the 2 meters distance cause we are outdoors we dont have to wear face masks!
Great history. Good trails around it. Wonderful buildings and tours that can be informative. Very pretty surroundings at Hamilton harbour.
Loved the history. Having our own private tour added to our experience. Sad due to Covid that we couldn't sample the freshly baked shortbread ????
The park over looks Hamilton Bay to the east, and provides great views. Dundurn Park is well maintained with mature trees, large open spaces and historic buildings. There is a homestead type garden located within the park area. Dundurn park is where Canadians ( mostly militia) assembled in the early 1800s' to march to Stone Creek to fight the American invaders during the war of 1812. One of the best features is that Dundurn Park is not overly busy and crowded. A great place to take the doggos. Over and out until the next review.
Everyone follows the covid rules, social distance on the paths, wore masks.
Beautiful and usually not too crowded
One of my favourite places to visit. The history of the park and Dundurn castle is very interesting. Beautiful grounds looking over the lake. Lots of free parking! The garden tour is full of beautiful flowers. Lots of places to sit and relax. A must see in Hamilton
Attending a beautiful wedding at the coach house. Also was a great site for photos of all kinds. While we were there I saw an additional 2 brides and a couple expecting a baby having their own photo shoots.
It wasn't open the building, but the park is beautiful though, can have a picnic or just enjoy the scenery
nice back ground for grad photos
Winter wonderland at Dundurn castle, Christmas 2020.
Excellent place to get married at. Excellent tour ( when not in lockdown) Nice place to have a picnic (no tables)
Chicken burgers were great and root beer nice and cold
Nice place to see
More like downton abbey. .. not a castle. ... cool tour... nice gardens and cool place 4 a picnic
Still such a pretty spot. Wish they could remove the trains tracks and connect it to the Harbourfront.
Best place to do family photos or just enjoy a nice walk
Too bad it wasn't open. Beautiful grounds. A lovely walk
Always a beautiful place to visit and the grounds is always kept very nicely.
Very interesting. A few areas were closed for renovations and a private viewing. Was treated with a scotch cookie, hot and fresh from them castles kitchen . Very tasty!!
A very beautiful castle. There is a guided tour every hour. This tour gives you a complete history of the owner, his many accomplishments are truly amazing. You get to see all the rooms in this Castle and a description of the furnishings. Then you can take a tour of their huge Garden area. All kinds of vegetables and Gorgeous Flowers, it was a surprise to see such a huge garden. There is also a military museum to tour, included in your admission price. This also was interesting. Allow at least an hour and a half if you want to see everything. Definitely worth visiting.
Worth the visit. Beautiful building. Historical.
Historic landmark with a rich Hamiltonian history behind it! Beautiful and picturesque, a great place to bring a book and read or to walk your dog! I highly recommend it!
