This place is wonderful, lots of space for a picnic, baseball game, or any other activity you'd like to do with friends and famil. In the summers you can provide your id to rent bikes/trikes/scooters/skateboards/roller skates for free at Emera oval. In winters you can do the same for ice skating.

Everybody likes the Halifax Commons!

This iconic park in the heart of Halifax is always a great visit. The reason why it's flat with no trees is that it was harvested centuries ago for early detection from attack from land to protect the Citadel fortress. There's paved walking paths around the perimeter and within the park. Contains an oval cement park for rollerblading in the summer and in the winter it's skating. It houses a number of ball fields and is a proper hang out just to hang and chat. Another portion of it across the roadway has a number of public tennis courts.

Kate Spurr

Great place to hang solo or with some friends and the people-watching is great! Note there is only one bathroom; it's on the North side of the park close to Cunard St.

A delightful green space at the hearts of Halifax is a welcome and practically useful in a delightful socially enhancing fashion I provide only 4 stars due to the elements of excessive "public" duress that is placed under due to under maintenance And over use. A green space at the heart of a city is not something to be taken for granted it is a wonderful opportunity 4 people and their pets and multiple ball fields with a skatepark and a military Bass in the most elevated Hill and the highest point in the area adding to it's exploring expatriate appeal. Which is a controversial Pro versus con notion however in the future I feel it to be a definite Pro as it is well maintained on the military side and very accurate and it's projection of excellent accurate historical value in continuity. (Minor note:the washrooms are located to the far north on the edge of the Greenspace. The motivation primarily for only providing a 4-star rating for this wonderful magnificent fantastic and beautiful space is that the washrooms are poorly maintained and is to me a violation of all that is good and well in the world as they are so putridly revolting but please do not let that deter you it is otherwise a grande lovely and pride inducing phenomenon and Grand and of Epic quality features for a city to have)there are also grand fountains centrally located in the public Green Space. Some of the more recent the infrastructure that has been included into the features that this space possesses includes a well maintained and functional well used and maintained characteristics is what we call an oval. A smoothly paved ovular space with out buildings Dedicated do the pro bono rental of sports equipment(with some more advanced equipment available at a nominal fee)for use with said paved area. Designed to run clockwise people of varying degrees of skill are allocated to appropriate Lanes in the tarmac. There are tennis courts there are basketball courts and people play games of all sorts a different places in this Green Space. Everyone is welcome. Bring a cooler with some drinks of a non-alcoholic nature of course and have a wonderful time

Great ground, needs to be managed little better by the HRM, as to mow the grounds regularly and little better and also it would really be great if there was a designated parking area, street parking works good but not when there are more than one event going on.

Samiron Paul

Excellent play ground. So far the largest play ground I have seen around Halifax region. It has two baseball grounds, roller skating track plus a super big green field. The field is adorned with narrow roads connecting the two sides of the field and offers bicyclists, pedestrians to take a short cut to get to their destination. Since it's a big and open place, it is generally quite windy so be aware of that. Overall, it's a great place to spend until the dusk.

Justin Joy

Love spending time here so much to with my daughter.

Carlos Morales

I love it. Just being there is relaxing

S. B. S.

All I did was drive past it (I was the passenger). It is a huge field though....

The Halifax Common's are awesome. Hard to write a review about a public park but this park is awesome. It has a few baseball diamonds, an ice skating oval in the winter, area's to play cricket and tons of space to walk your doggo.

Kyle Brazeau

Chill , relaxing for walks and other activities all year round

Doug Barton

It's a huge green space in the centre of town with plenty of places to play various forms of ball but there are very few benches to sit on to enjoy the weather and scenery. There is also a roller skating oval which becomes a ice skating oval in the winter time. It's also a great place to take dogs for a walk or run.

Suhel Shaikh

Lovely city park. Must visit

Rishi Ahuja

It’s just in front of my apartment. So good at 8-10’pm. Just walk around. Alone or with someone, you’ll love it anyways

Findlay Hilchie

I walk through this area almost every day. The fields are great for laying, doing yoga, playing with your pup, or a game of baseball. This is an awesome community area that lets you relax and while still inside a city, enjoy a big green field. The oval is also great with being able to skate in the winter or bike in the summer, the concerts here are fantastic and there is even a skate park.

Pat Bennett

Loved bringing my kids there when they were Young

Máté Roman

It's nice if you like a lot of open fields... I didnt so 3 stars, picture lots of grass

Liliam Agatha

Good place to catch some sun, play with your pooch, or watch some of our local teams playing baseball, ultimate, cricket, etc. Haven't tried the Oval yet, since I can't skate or rollerblade, but one of these days I'll work up the courage to embarrass myself enough to do it!

Gaurav Puri

The best park to play soccer. Love it

Krish Gopi

Halifax Commons is a big park situated right next to the Citadel Hill. It houses a number of softball pitches and a cycling and skating/ scooter track. You can borrow cycles, skate boards and inline skates by depositing your Govt photo ID(Passport, Nova Scotia ID etc)

Robert MacDonald

Great place for social distance, fresh air and exercise.

Ather Alkhatib

This place is amazing!!! Even Chocolate lake admins paid me to rate this a five star

David Boudreau

If you live downtown to Halifax common becomes part of where you live. It is your front yard. ????

Mike Boyle

The name says it all: as far as parks go, this one's pretty common. There are certainly bigger parks (most national parks mostly fall into this category), and there are certainly smaller parks (dog parks and parking spaces mostly fall into this category), and I'd be willing to be there are very similarly sized parks. While it is not a water park, and nor is it a classic theme park, one cod argue that there is a vague, overarching theme of 'grass,' and 'baseball diamonds.' The staff dont dress up in any specific thematic costumes, but, frankly, that did not bother me.

Joseph Mackinnon

Great picnic place, also good for being active with sports and other rec. Activities

Hope Leslie

Just walked past during a visit but I thought is was a great space for several activities.

Patricia Daniels

Love the fact that there's bathrooms on site. As well as large playground skate Park tennis courts The Pavilion the oval skating rink baseball diamonds and just a beautiful wide open space to lay back tan picnic or relax. Also pet friendly here and it has a pool in the summer that is free during daytime hours.

Elvis Martin
