Lac Beauchamp Park in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada is a large wooded park of 172 hectares built around a small lake in the middle of the suburban sprawl of the eastern part of the city. In the winter it has 15 km of ski and snowshoe trails. The lake also has a skating area. In the summer, the lake has a supervised swimming beach and canoe rentals. The ski trails are then used by amateur naturalists, hikers and bikers. The park is located about 10 km East of the downtown core of Gatineau and is thus easy to reach from Ottawa by any of the main bridges. The city offers several recreational activities in and around the park chalet. Several groups, such as ornithologists, entomologists, and garden lovers use the building and the nature preserve around it for their activities. There is an annual sand sculpture competition on the beach.

The only downside to this park is that there is no walking path that crosses the entire lake. It would also be good to build a path that runs along the railroad to Labrosse station. Lac Beauchamp is a vest pocket alternative to Parc Gatineau for Nordic skiing and snowshoe. The two main trail loops are good for an hour or two of classic xc when one doesn't feel like paying the $16 daily fee at Gatineau, or at peak times when the parking lots are full, or is just too a long drive when you don't want to ski for half the day.

One of the best places for a walk or cycle in Gatineau that's not within Gatineau Park. Plenty of easy trails for mountain biking for those with less experience and plenty of walking space, with the chance of encountering deer as you walk. Unfortunately there can be broken glass here and there, and some patches of poison ivy so be mindful of straying off the trails.

Amazing park but you need a car to get to it. If you're on foot and not taking the bus, you have no sidewalk to walk on once you're on the same side of the road as the park and it's on a five lane road. The closed set of lights to cross is a km away. Hope this changes soon!

Great trails and well maintained, I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. My only slight and minor qualm is that certain spots could use more trail markers. Particularly on the E trail on the last half of the loop. Other than that this is an excellent place to bring your kids to. One word of warning I will also say is that if you are with young ones be sure to keep them on the hard-packed part of trails as there are quite a few trails that will have poison ivy if you were to wander off. They do, however, do a great job at warning people with lots of signage.
