REVIEWS OF Waverly Beach Park IN Fort Erie

Please visit the museum, there is so much to learn about Fort Erie ???????? sadly what once was a gem today is only rubble. The park began in 1885 as Snake Hill Grove, and was a simple picnic area in the woods along the lake. In 1887, rail service began from a dock at the foot of Bertie Street on the Buffalo & Fort Erie Ferry Railway, which continued until the day the amusement park closed. The railway was known by passengers as the "Sandfly Express". The park saw modest growth until 1910, when major rides were added, and a stadium and hotel were also built.

Waverly Beach Park is a great location to take friends, family and your dog. The walking trails go through some of the historic remains of what used to be there and signs indicate what you are looking at. The park trails are a popular place for dogs but quiet enough that you can avoid other dogs if your dog doesn't like to make friends. There is parking at the main beach or at the other entrance along the trail closed to Fort Erie Beach. The waterfront trail takes you from one end down to the beach and back again. Small ruins/remains of buildings are a great place to explore or adventure in whilst learning about the area. The park also has a nice grass area where families will BBQ together or just hang out in the shade while others walk down to the beach. You can still be visible if swimming from this grass area which makes it a good spot for those not looking to take much sun. Overall a very nice local beach that tourists don't know enough about to bother visiting.

Beautiful!! Get out here and check it out before they develop it and ruin it!

A scenic view with plenty of history. Parking is limited to maybe 20 or so spots. There are slabs of old concrete from the amusement park and the old hotel everywhere. The beach is sand. Amenities are closed due to covid. Great location near the friendship trail! Enjoyed walking through the woods and along the old ruins, concrete slabs, a concrete breakwall and foundations litter the area. Those parts aren't ideal for younger children. Clearly teenagers have been partying in the woods and in the old structures. Still, the park itself is nice to visit.

The beach was good. It was incredibly rocky though, like if they could possibly get some kind of vac truck or excavator in there to remove the rocks it'd be 5 stars all day.

Was out "walking" my dog and the cottagers came and told me it was private and I had to leave. I explained my purpose and they because extremely rude. Since when does the cottagers own the water and the beach land. Maybe they need to rake the zebra mussel shells up in stead of bitchin at me
