Go here if you want to drown in the scent of gasoline, a place where mud is everywhere, and dirty looking toilets a showers in the comfort station

D3adkl0wn

Great time! There are sites suitable for tent camping as well as in a RV or what not. Unlike LaManche, there is ample tree cover between sites so that it doesn't feel like the next site over is part of yours.

We enjoyed hiking to the top of Butterpot Hill for a 360 degree view. The lady slippers were lovely

One thing I don't like about the provincial parks is the lack of kid related events.. When ever I've taken my kids there they're bored. Unlike Terra Nova park, the provincial parks offer nothing, no events, no activity centre, not even a park store. I don't understand why the provincial government hasn't capitalized on this.. certainly an activity centre and store would generate much needed revenue for the provincial parks and offer something more than just a driveway for families taking their kids camping.

Great camping spot if you want to get away from the city but don't want to drive to far. Nice swimming area and hiking trail as well.

Nice park. Close to the city but far enough that you can forget it !!

Great place to camp. Very spacious and private camp sites for both tenting and in a trailer. Lots of wildlife including: grey jays, squirrels, chipmunks, blue jays, downy woodpeckers, loons, etc. The butter pot hike is a well kept trail with lots of boardwalks and stairs for the climb to the top of butterpot hill. On top you have the best view of conception bay south unless you were flying. Pretty easy hiking trail even for the less experienced hiker.

Pretty nice scenery there. I've yet to actually go there in the summer so I cant speak to their facilities for pricing (other than off-season squatting on their campsites to test out my new winter sleeping bag lol), but like any campground …

We love the park and have camped here every year for 8 years. A lot of great memories here. Washroom facilities and more water options would make this park even greater.

Sherwin Flight

Nice park with a great walking trail to the top of the mountain

Mark Hallett

I've camped here 4 times and I'm impressed every time i go. Almost all the sites are very private, there is lots of wood to be foraged so bring a saw and don't waste your money buying it at the office. The facilities are good but not up to federal park standards and the hike to butterpot hill is very scenic and takes about 3 hours to do with kids. Don't forget to pick up a rock on the way up the hill to add to the pile at the top.

It's close to St John's if visiting or want a quick getaway. Beautiful hike to the top of the hill (approx 1 to 1.5 hrs each way). Swimming area with nice clean pond and very scenic. The comfort stations are average for most campgrounds and there is only 1 trailer dump station. Long weekends it can be a bit of a party spot and quiet time doesn't seem to be enforced too well. Dry camping only and water filll has a 5 minute boil order.

We love this park, it's so beautiful. We got rained in a couple of nights but it's part of nature. Bathroom is nice and clean.

Lisa Jacobs

Beautiful park with walking trails. The shower in the comfort station was cold when I tried to use it. I hear sometimes the boiler goes out and you have to call the warden to flick a switch. Also there are no power or water serviced sites which means you have to put up with generator noise. Regardless, I would recommend this park.

Sandra Dower

Butterpot Park is one of our favorites however this past week we camped on site 135. It was the worse site we have had ever in the park. There needs to be some work done because with rain it became a mud hole making our stay very uncomfortable.

Nice camp sites and a lovely part of NFLD but the campsite facilities are far below acceptable standards. Filthy pit toilets with little or no toilet roll and/or sanitizer, and the 'comfort stations' are always filthy and lacking basic necessities like soap and toilet roll. Staff claimed that they cleaned the toilets daily but never saw any improvement in facilities, even after we complained to the park manager. NOT recommended.

Will Burke

Nice park with swimming and waking trails.

Amazing place in Canada

This was a great experience the beach was nice, the bathrooms were very clean and they offer showers ????. There is a laundry room. Play ground for the kids and walking trails that take you out to explore the park. The beach ☀️ is great for …

Excellent getaway only 20 minutes from town. Many different sites suitable for everything from tents to luxury trailers. Nice and quiet for the most part, not a lot of partiers. Campsites were clean and sufficient. Bathrooms were not the cleanest or pleasantly smelling, but you really can't expect that at a campsite, especially the hottest part of the summer.

Rough road to enter park- some paved but mostly gravel. Comfort stations are run by generators so pick campsites with that in mind. No quiet hours posted and it was our experience that none were enforced. Small rocky unsupervised beach. Clean facilities with laundry and free showers. No ice or food on site- wood available for purchase. Water and washrooms are spread thinly throughout campsites.

Great Provincial Park! Nature at its best and just 30 minutes from St. John's.. Hike to Butter Pot Hill (2 hours round trip)and see for miles. Lots of trails, swimming, playgrounds for the kids!! Two comfort stations with showers and flushing toilets. Basic camping sites with no electricity or water. Picnic table and Fire pits on every site. Downside!!! Staff doesn't clean the outhouses!!!! Dirty outhouses not cleaned for weeks!!! Very disappointed with the lack of diligence for the lack of cleanliness. GROSS!!! Need more staff or have existing staff do their JOB. Very Disappointed !!!!!!!

Nice swimming area and the sites are decent too.
