The Esquimalt Gorge Park straddles the Gorge in a rough U. The water is clear and sparkling--you can see the sea greens and it would be a great place to canoe or swim. The Gorge used to be a place where city folks came to cool down during the summers. Now, many families come to have picnic and enjoy playing in the park. The pathways are even and meandering, suitable for a promenade or wheelchair. My friend and I walked her dog for about an hour, and it was just lovely. There is ample parking and a washroom nearby. The best part for me was the Gorge itself where the tide water rushes through a narrow sluice. There are also interpretive/historical didactics here and there. The place is perfect for any recreational gathering and walks.

This is probably the most underrated parks in Victoria proper. The area surrounding Gorge is unassuming and seemingly mundane, but the view can be absolutely stunning. With many amenities such as multiple playgrounds, toiletries, water fountains a Japanese garden and even a boathouse you can easily find yourself in a nature park that is isolated from the surrounding bustle. The historical site under the Tillicum bridge is awe inspiring and reflects the ancient societies thousands of years ago. The duck wildlife conservation here brings the birds in the hundreds. Whether you're here for the views, the historical significance, boating or just some daily exercise this park is one of the treasures of Victoria.

This park is gorgeous. On the north side of the water the trail goes all the way down to admirals. That side has all sorts of trails that would be good for a jogging or rollerblading. The road itself has a large bike trail on the side and motorists are supposed to drive 30. On the other side of the road you have Gorge Park. Gorge Park has quite a big parking lot a bunch of benches some nice grassy areas a nice look out for the water. It's a perfect place for a picnic and they host outdoor events and festivals here. Don't run across Tillicum road, instead, go under the bridge on the path that connects the pub to the park.

It has been a while since I have visited Gorge and I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful it was it is. Many different areas to chose from to have a picnic, walk the dog, open fields to play games, walk along the water and many more options to choose from. Great for kids and it is well maintained enhancing the scenery.

Park with lots to do. You should be able to get away with a cold one in this park if you aren’t crazy about it. Cops do come by once in a while so they may dump out your beverage. Do not let them check your cooler. They will stand around for a while but soon get bored and leave.

You really should visit the new Japanese garden that has been created at the Gorge Park. The ponds, paths waterfalls and bridges are beautiful and the many exotic plants along the paths are so nice to walk through. The walkway along the Gorge waterway is very nice to visit too. Th Gorge Point Pub across the street is a good place to get lunch or dinner.

A great little community park with lots to offer for its size. Nice water views, nice gardens, a nice playground for kids, good picnic spots with tables, a large parking lot, and enough pathways for a nice little walk. And if you want a longer walk you can cross Gorge bridge and follow the walk way along the other side of the gorge down to Admirals Rd and back which is approx 3.5Km in total. There are no sports fields here but enough grassy area for throwing a frisbee or tossing a ball around. Mainly a great place for a walk through the gardens, or to sit and take in the water views.

This is such a nice park that's hidden away from the noise of all the busy traffic on Tillicum road. We've spent many summers having picnics and family gatherings there. It looks like they're upgrading the parking lot and adding a new multi-purpose building with new amenities beside the parking area. It looks like they're even adding a spot for food trucks on site. The nature house is very informative and does a good job representing the species that are found locally. There are bathrooms in the same building as the nature house, I'm assuming they're open roughly the same hours as well.

A peaceful group of concerned citizens and a mindful community gathered at Gorge Park on the 74th Anniversary of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In remembrance of those whose lives were lost or survived; songs were sang, verse and speakers shared, in a profound gathering of reflection. Paper lanterns were set a sail, then later gathered.

It is a great ride/walk. You cross the river several times on the way down town. It is not marked the best as far as which way to go. Lots of signs showing and telling the history of sports along the way down town. Very interesting.

Beautiful spot. Check out the Japanese gardens. The gardens are very historical. I believe the same person who designed them designed the Japenes gardens at Butchart Gardens. Nice place to picnic and well.

This park is incredible and diverse. There is a great playground for kids of all sizes, a beach to run around on (thought at times goose-y), along the water so picturesque and lovely, there are walking trails, you can go under a bridge at one end in the narrows and watch the water flowing, or go back to the marsh area and watch ducks and other fowl in their habitat. Dogs love a walk around this area. There are many boats paddling by. You can easily walk to the coffee shop on Gorge or elsewhere for treats and coffees. We love this park. There is a spot set up with a touch tank area through a not for profit group. There are fields and people often hold birthday parties here. My favourite spot is the Japanese gardens which are stunning. Every time we visit we find something new we love.

As I have stated before I have lived in Victoria all of my life. The Gorge Park and the water system, which exchanges fresh and salty seawater is an excellent place to visit for the old, young and everyone in between. If you do not enjoy open settings or tall wooden groves then the wild animals should help you find the relaxation we all need.

Signs every where stating dogs must be on leash yet we ran into 5 dogs off leash in 20 minutes. Great playground, beautiful park but not a child friendly park sadly with so many unleashed dogs.

In Victoria on vacation, kids absolutely loved the playground here! There are communal toys all over the playground: trucks, bikes, scooters, shovels, buckets, kitchen, etc, etc, etc. It's also lighted, so early dusk in the fall is no issue. They had so much fun bouncing between toys. We came back several times.

It was a nice place to go for a walk. There is Wi-Fi available in a limited area. There are several pokestops and a Pokemon gym in the park. It is a nice quiet lovely place to visit.
