REVIEWS OF Buena Vista Park IN Edmonton

My favourite off leash are in Edmonton is Buena Vista Off Leash area. Nice quiet trails, open areas. Great access in summer to the river for swimming for your fur friend. 98.3% of dog walkers in this area are really aware of other dog owners and the right and wrong way in an off leash area. Please always clean up after your self, and smile.????????❤️❤️

Arghya Basu

Great place for dogs and dog owners.

Gabby Quach-Conti

Just another jewel of a park in our amazing river valley system here in Edmonton, very well maintained, super friendly people with all the same intentions, exercise, fresh air and admire the sites and sounds, my pup and I frequently visit this area , awesome for dogs and very large off leash area , please pick up after your pets and don't litter so we can all enjoy this great place.

A happy place for dogs! Plenty of shaded trails along the river and the west side of the park. It is a multi use park and as such, opportunities for patience, tolerance and sharing space abound. When I had the privilege of visiting the park with our two big mellow yellow labs, invariably, a good walk, swimming in the river, ball chasing and varied social interactions were enjoyed. While off limits to dogs, the dock, owned and maintained by the Edmonton Rowing Club, is an excellent place to enjoy the river, watch wildlife and appreciate the river valley.

Evan Zinyk

Amazing views of the river valley. Great place to get outdoors to walk/run. There is an off leash area for dogs. Has both paved and dirt trails available.

Helena B

This is such a marvelous trail, for families or single walkers to enjoy. Today I walked among beautiful dogs having fun along the day as it is an off leash are as well. Take pictures! This time of year the scenery along the river changes everyday. Just beautiful.

Hazel Jacobs

Nice off-leash area.

Bridget Kennedy

Very child friendly park and walking trails. If your children (or you) love dogs, this is an amazing afternoon trip. Very many good boys have been seen on this trail. There is a boardwalk down to the river and a rest sport near the start of the trail, great for a snack and rest spot. It connects to Hawrelak Park, which can be great for an extended walk.

John Farquhar

The park is beautiful. With tight trails and wide ones, big open running areas for the pets,it is awesome ????

Ma Madeline

Very clean and neat. Nice dog park!!!

Dan K

Awesome park! Probably the best I'm the city! Just check it out, you won't regret it.

James Gully007

Gorgeous park. Lots of dogs. Great trails. Some bikes go through, which enrage my dog, but there's pedestrian only trails too, which he loves.

Tyra Klein

It's a great dog park, but the bike trail should not be open to the off-leash area. Too many people say that it is not an off-leash area when the sign clearly states it's an off-leash area. Rerouting the bike route so the area can be utilized and enjoyed by all would be awesome!

Micheal Jones

Great dog park with ample parking, river access and a foot bridge connecting to Hawrlack Park.

Jessica Johnston

One of our favourite spots close to home.

R.J. W.

Nice little lookout

Lujia Cai

The dogs here are generally well-behaved, and the park is maintained really well. But last time I came, one dog grabbed mine by the neck and dragged her. The owner said it was "just play" and was pretty rude about it.

Joline Firkin

Nice park with many paths and lots of garbages, bag dispensers are usually empty so make sure you bring your own bags.

Brendan Thompson

My dog seemed to enjoy the doggo birthday she was invited to, anyhow

Tibby Scherger

I come here every weekend with my kids. If you go down towards the bridge there’s a path too go down too the sand and the kids love it.

Just mine and my family's fav place to hang out and bring our dog! Love bonding with them! The best place to just eat icecream and watch the sunset!!!!!! Absolutely love this place!!!

Barbara Sutherland

This is by far my favorite off leash park in Edmonton. Friendly people who enjoy the surroundings and take care to pick up after their dogs.

Val Robertson

A beautiful park. It has a large off-leash dog park. Trails that are paved for bicycles, as well as gravel and dirt trails. You can walk from the main parking lot to a bridge which would then take you to Hawrelak park.

Joseph Kapler

Beautiful park, great views of the river and Valley. Great for walks or a picnic with the family

natasha dawson

Such a lovely park to walk in. The scenery is gorgeous...plus there are always lots of dogs to see!

Duncan Reeves

Very nice clean park.

Jaclyn L

Great off leash park with lots of different areas. There’s a huge field if you want to socialize, or many areas to walk along the river. If you want to get away, there’s a lot of smaller more isolated forest trails. Found a fun boardwalk on the last trip!

Darran Phillips

I've been coming here for years, great place to bring your dogs. It has many well maintained trails, bathrooms and a fountain to water your pets and access to the river for your pets as well.

Kristine Tonks

One of three best dog parks in the area. Lots of back paths that are fun to explore and allow you to avoid the crowds.

Shannon Sabbah

Best dog park in the city! So many trails. Perfect to bring kids with too! Access to the river. Albus had so much fun!!! Plus the people with their dogs are all kind so you can have many interesting conversations.

Meredith H

One of my favourite off-leash parks to take my furry four-legged Kid too with my son. We love the paths that you can take and go down by the river valley or ride your bike all at the same time as having our fur family be able to be off leash and go with us. It is a shared Park but people need to understand that if you are going to go bike riding in an off-leash Park without a dog, or go jogging there are going to be mishaps when dogs don't pay attention to your bikes. It is a shared space but remember dogs do not have the same sense of accountability or responsibility as a human does so keep that in mind when you get irritated when it's really busy with lots of dogs in your pathway. Also when we rode our bikes we had to pay attention to the signs as not all pathways are bike-friendly. We love that it's a multi-purpose area and we can do so much with our dog off-leash and enjoy nature at its finest

Anna B

Great place for a walk. Beautiful views .

Al Such

First time there.... Friendly people and dogs!!! Overall a great experience!!!!

Paula Clarke

Fantastic dog park! Lots of open spaces for a good game of fetch or chase. Lots of wooded areas for those adventurous pups to explore. Multiple spots for the pups to go swimming in the summer time. Very impressed with all the garage cans, maintenance of main paths, multiple parking lots, and proper bathrooms. Goldie and I cannot wait to go back! Please note - this is a very large park that is NOT fenced - Great for dogs who have good recall! Goldie approved!

The Hershell

Beautiful spot to walk within the city of Edmonton.

Shelley Morrison

Awesome enjoyed canoeing session. Beautiful

Jennifer Neumann

Nice park for a stroll with the dog.

HJ Sears

My favourite off leash in Edmonton. I love that it has a big open area for running and fetching, nice trees trails for a more rustic walk, a large gravel path so I can pull a wagon and easy access to the river for river play or drinks. No bikes are permitted on the off leash path, and the trails seem to go on forever. Highly recommend!

FLEDA V

Long beautiful canopies of trees (our kids enjoy the canopies as they sway and makes those rustling sound that gives you good vibes) very relaxing, makes the breeze cooler and a very nice place to walk even with your pets ( they even have places for your pets to walk without leash), good bike trails too.

John Reda

A very large off leash dog park. Bathroom currently under construction (as of fall 2018) close to the entrance. A large open mowed field is the initial entry point to the park. There are some benches, picnic tables available there. Paved, gravel and dirt walking trails lead through the trees. River access for the puppers is ~10min walk from the parking lot; Significantly further than Terwilliger. Garbage cans are located throughout, but they are usually closer to the entrance field and walking paths once you get deeper in. Generally it is less muddy after rain than Terwilliger off leash.

jim bo

What a beautiful park. Did a little ice skating before Christmas.

The LissoWay

This is by far my favourite dog park! The most natural and the people who go here pick up their dog poop the best. I bring my two young kids and the only thing I don't like are the bikers who don't care. But I find that at all dog parks

Laura Marcato

Great place to take dogs for an off leash walk

murray tairney

Great place to take the dogs or just walking

Ashley Vyas

Love bringing my dog to this park. She enjoys the little trails in the woods and going to the water to play with the other dogs. The big field is really nice to be able to play ball with her as well. Lots of activities to do in this park!

TLS Sutherland

Great trails in the park. You can walk over from hawrelak and enjoy the trails along the river.

Buena Vista Park is part of Edmonton's North Saskatchewan River Valley park system. It is one of a continuous line of parks in the valley that form the largest urban park system in North America. This scenic park is an oasis of wilderness in the middle of the city with vegetation that ranges from aspen and spruce forest to prairie grassland to riverside. The area is ablaze in colour in Autumn and is a mix of lower flat lands, steep valley hillsides and ravines. The lower part of the park has many trails, meadows and forested flats. The upper portion backs out onto Valleyview Drive where there are spectacular panoramas of the river valley, the city and the downtown skyline. The back end of the park is tranquil and secluded, while near the parking lot can be very busy. It is a scenic park and some of the dogs are friendly, but some are unruly and noisy. If you are looking for seclusion, head north or west of the dog park meadow. If you want to meet people and dogs, walk the meadows near the parking lot. This is an interesting park that has a mix of wilderness and more established city park lands and is a natural marvel in the big city.

Kelsy

Was so much fun!! Nice area with lots of trails to walk the dog, and a big grass area to play with your pupper.

Matthew de Groot

Beautiful park with large open area for the dogs to play, and lots of nice trails to walk with the dogs

Richard Thomas

Great place to take your dog to enjoy the river and nice walking paths to enjoy the beautiful scenery

Wilma Haas

Love this park but not so much during the spring thaw. Huge puddles and icy stretches over large tracts of the walking trails. Should be much improved by early April.
