REVIEWS OF Morton Lake Provincial Park IN Campbell River

Trevor Richardson

This was a great spot to camp, aside from the road in. By the time I got to the campsite, my 2 door Honda Civic and some clanging going on underneath, but if you have an SUV or a truck, you will have no problem getting there. The campsite itself was quite great with a few spots right on the water. I had no idea where to pay, and there was no park operator when I was there, so I didn’t end up paying. The beach area was quite nice too. Lost the one star due to the car damage, but other than that, GO!

Chris Lewis

Beautiful lake. In route is not ment for small cars

Morgan Gatton

Last 5 km is rough, solid potholes. Beautiful lake with semi private camping.

Kevin “Island Angler” Miles

My favorite provincial park and campsite. Rustic as there is no power or running water. No cell signal. Just nature. Fishing can be good depending on time of year and weather. Getting a site here is very difficult due to its popularity and driving out for a non reservable site is not really worth it incase there is nothing available.

Oliver Perrett

Nice lake. Horrible road. Would not return.

Erik Wright

This is an amazing little campground just outside of Campbell River that's well worth the hour drive up the logging road. Pit toilets were kept clean, the sites were large enough for a couple tents and a vehicle, and there's a hand pump water well available. No cell service is a plus too, making for a truly off grid camping experience.

Thomas Sowinski

Very nice sites, basic facilities, beautiful views. The access road is unpaved and can be somewhat rough, but definitely possible with a trailer.

David Coey

Great place for rustic camping. Well run. Road into it a bit rough

Katrina Cairns

Beautiful camping location. Private and peaceful, cheaply priced considering you get large, clean sites/clean out houses, a very polite and accommodating hostess (Rita.) Most sites have their own access to the lake which is a decent size with a nice beach. We very much so enjoyed our stay and cannot wait to book our return vacation!

David Vallance

Wonderful little camp site with great fishing and canoeing. A quite site with rangers looking after it. A bit of a long drive on a gravel road that depending on the time of year could be bumpy with not grated, but that won’t stop me from enjoying being out in nature.

Russell James

Nice drive. Nice trail around the beautiful lake and the campground is well laid out. We will definitely be camping there this year.

Lynne Fedorick (CPDT-KA)

Beautiful place with amazing campsites. Road is rough going in, but once you are there it is fabulous.

Been coming here since I was a child. It hasn't changed much, aside from all the garbage you can see sitting on the bottom of the lake....shame. I really wish people were more respectful of the outdoors.

Dave Brimacombe

Great Beach out of the way. Crazy bumpy road

Chad Rutherford

The road out there was absolutely brutal. I lost a part of my trailer on my way out.

Paul Graham

Had a great time

Sebastien Braconnier

Beautiful lake, peaceful, quiet ????️????

Donald Hoyland

Friendly well maintained camp grounds and off the grid for those who are looking for a rustic getaway

Glen Gordon

The camp host was great she got us into a better site because of some shuffling before we got there.

Brandon Mclaren

Beautiful small lake and park about 15km down a smooth logging road. Multiple signs point the way. There's a sandy beach a rough trail leading around the lake, and the much larger Mohun lake has a boat launch into it from the Morton Lake parking lot. The sites are very clean and the staff were friendly and constantly doing maintenance on the facilities.

Jason Allen

Quiete loons were cool

Lloyd Bolton

I have spent 25 years visiting Morton Lake campground. I also was the host there for 2-3 years. Never has the road from Menzies Main to Morton Lake been in such terrible and dangerous condition! I hope a parks overseer in Government sees this . Minister In Charge, it is time for the road to be rebuilt! Before someone sues us. LG Bolton ( lmboltom@shaw.ca )

A lovely, warm lake for swimming. The journey to get there is a bit harrowing due to the poor condition of the road once you turn off Menzies Rd.

Koran Weston

Beautiful lake front camping. Decent outhouses. Water except in off season. Free in the winter. Seems like it would be good for swimming.

stacey tlucko

Brought back childhood memories of camping. It was very peaceful and serene!! The lake view was so beautiful to wake up too. Will definitely go there again!!!

Kevin Fitzgerald

Beautiful spot once you get there. rough 14 km. of gravel road. Don't understand why my extra vehicle was allowed to park at a crowded parking lot near boat launch for free, but would cost $9 a night to be at my campsite Somebody please explain how to fill in a pothole to host ... sunken culvert crossing at entrance to boat launch about a foot deep. Appreciate the orange cone but a repair would be better

Pavel Abraham

Park is great and worth going to/staying, but road to get there is just nasty...and I rode jeep. Please guys grade that road.

Mike Skinner

Roads need a lot of work

Duncan Hutchison

The access road is very poor. It needs pot holes filled and or road graded.

Belinda Williams

The lake is small with mostly a muddy bottom. The beach access, from those sites that have it, is restricted. It's a good spot for paddleboarding. The road in is mostly potholes. But, it is quiet, clean, and bug-free, and the much larger Mohun Lake is in the same location, so you are not limited to the one lake.
