Hespeler is such a great place combining old with new. It's a good place to start your bike ride or hike along the river. The hilly terrain provides some interesting roads.

A nice little trail that leads to a trail behind a subdivision Caution on the trail there is a large steep hill. Great for hiking and cycling.

If you like the smell of greasy river slime, you'll enjoy Jacobs Landing. Actually, Apart from the odd industrial smells ive had grace my nostrils, Still ive had a many good times here. But one things for certain. The closer you get to the waterfall the more you can smell the sweet aroma of Speed River. Now you see, Ive casted my rod in these waters many a times. The fish species that live here are extensive. However if you're looking to catch trout this is not the place. Also becareful about eating the local fish because it may give you mercury poisoning. In fact the river bed is laden with toxic heavy metals due to the old American Standard steel stamping plant being right where those condos stand today. According to a trusted Hespeler local, This plant would shoot out waste from their plant which would turn the whole river's water color from clear to vibrant green and even dark purple. Talk about the good old days. Anyways, its since then cleaned itself up, a bit. The Common fish Species you can catch here include: Carp Bluegill Rockbass Smallmouth bass Largemouth bass (rare) Brown bullhead catfish Roach Chub Pike Furthermore, its a good spot to pop a squat and take a phat load off. And Theres a lengthy trail which is sure to be fun for the whole family too. Sike! I Don't have fun with my family anymore. And forget the walk if you don't have bug spray. Because after mid may you're bloody toast to the mosquitos and ticks. Dont bringyour pets either. I've seen a lady's shitzu puppy get dragged into the drink by a 3 foot long muskrat after it sniffed its hole. Now that was something to watch. Good news is she can always buy a new one. Anyways, I've been here many times and it's always a fun trip. There's just one thing I have to warn those Fishermen about for when they go out there. Dont use your best lures here as this river is filled with debris such as: Shopping Carts Kids bikes Traffic signs Metal rebar Rocks Other fishing line Seaweed Snapping turtles Fence rolls Rail ties And much much more. Basically, its a landmine for snags. So be smart, stay safe, and keep your lines tight lads and ladies, Jeezy

It is a very nice trail. I saw many people fishing. Families enjoying their picnic. Couples walking together. People walking their dogs. It was a good experience being here. There are stores close by and a lot of restaurants as well. Overall, worth the trip. I'm deducting 1 star for the strong fish smell in this area. I mean, I know that there are actual fish there to catch but if you are sensitive to fish smell, it might bother you to stay here longer than you thought.

Amazing park with a lovely waterfall and trail There's a seating area on the west side of the road as well. There's also a portage for canoes and a dock to fish or look.out at the reservoir pond.

Nice place to stop for a snack on your trail ride or trail walk. The dam is large and beautiful to watch. There are lots of trees around so you can stay cool in the shade while having your rest. There are lots of 'free learning' signs posted to tell you about the history of the area. It is very interesting to read about, particularly if you are new to the area and don't know much about the history. Very nice spot to explore, can't wait to come back for a picnic!

A fairly quiet area. Slightly out of the way from most of the hespeller hustle and bustle. The landing area needs a bit of upkeep as the benches have a bit of moss that can dirty light coloured clothing.
