I have a clipping from the Albertan, July19, 1950. My late friend Harry Vernon Barley lived in Spruce Cliff, across the tracks, South of Lawery Gardens, and reported digging up hundreds of pounds of old buffalo bones in his garden, which must have been a pound, or area of slaughter of buffalo.

Should this be spelled Lowery Gardens, not Lawrey Gardens. It is a peaceful place to visit, a haven from the city with the Douglas Fir Forest to the south and the Bow River to the north.

Great place for bird watching

Great place to explore . The Lawrey Gardens park is an off leash dog park with the Bow River on on side and the train tracks on the other. It's a great loop to walk. It can be accessed from the top of the hill from end of the East end of the Douglas Fir Trail or from the end of 10th Ave along the Bow River Pathway (but very little parking to be found at that entrance!!!)

A very pretty pathway area along the river for walking, and solitude. Some bikes move fast on the bike portion.
