Good place to see iceberg

It’s very pretty. Slightly different from other shorelines. Beautiful drive to get here. And you learn a bit about John Cabot. For the amount of effort it takes (10 minutes north of bonavista) and the reward you acquire (beautiful views with prospect of whales). 5/5.

Small Municipal Park out by the Cape Bonavista Light House. When whales are in season this is a great spot to go whale watching.

Municipal Park sounds awful ... But it isn't. In reality it's just the statue of John Cabot and a commemorative plaque... set in the surrounding landscape. Simple and stunning.

Humpbacks feeding and breaching. Awesome!

Bruce Stearman

Outstanding scenery. Good parking. Not your average municipal park!

Terry Spurrell

Amazing coastal views!

(Translated) Adjacent to the lighthouse is a memorial park, because it was John Cabot’s first stop in North America more than 500 years ago, and it is a historical memorial site. Cabot was about the same time as Zheng He, an Italian, and also a great explorer, so some places in Katong are named after him, such as the famous Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island. Trail), Cabot Strait, etc. The castle on the top of St. John's Signal Hill is also named Cabot Tower.

We drove here last May as we spent 3 months vacationing around wonderful Canada. On this day, the gods smiled down on us without another beautiful day. Amazing 46 to 52 degrees and I'm ready for shorts. Drove to Elliston and Bonavista for awesome views of the cold waters of the North Atlantic with icebergs from Greenland floating on by. Sir John Cabot landed here but Vikings got here much earlier. Locals told us the puffins arrived but are out to sea fishing before returning in the evening to start their nest building. The immensity of it all is very humbling. We had Moose burgers for the 1st time, much tastier than regular beef. Found some great local beer. Had to buy Shayne's jams from his grandma's receipe from all wild picked berries. He loved to tells us all about it and Newfoundland. Meeting so many friendly and helpful locals. Canadians rock! Irish music playing sounds so sweet! Kindly click the like button if this review or my photos are useful.

John Cabot Municipal Park is perfectly integrated into rough yet beautiful landscapes near the Atlantic Ocean. The majestic statue below the little pond is quite memorable. Take an hour to walk in and around the park. Take a break from your everyday life. This place is a slice of paradise.

Sat at the picnic table to eat lunch while the whales fed on the surface very close to shore. You could almost reach out and touch them!

A must visit when in NL. Hike up to the statue and light house.
