Quiet walking trail. There are horses that frequent the trail so there are dropping along most of the dirt portion.

Don't miss this great nature trail when visiting cave and basin! Astounding marsh and mountain views. Cool nature trail signs describing the diversity created with the hot springs runoff.

(Translated) A very short circular route with some views. Can be done, does not have to be. Black mollys can be seen by the fish below. Life in the warm water of the spring. Very nice trail to explore along a marsh which is the filtering system for the Bow river to keep the water fresh and clean... lots of animal and plant life abound in the area and in the water... plus the funky sulfur smell from.the various hot springs running into the marsh naturally.

(Translated) It is a wetland surrounding a swamp with hot springs coming downhill from the Sulfur Mountain. You can enjoy the mountains and river along the Bow River. Boardwalk beneath caves and basins national historical monuments exhibition hall, through pristine marshes and bubbling hot spring water. It is a good place for bird watching. We enjoyed our time in this loop although we did not think we'd like it. It's a small beautiful and quiet area.

Marta Anne

Great place and great history. The hiking trail is very short but really worth doing it. As you walk along the boardwalk, you feel peaceful. You can smell the trees, see streams, and the marsh full of tiny fish. The cave is amazing. A must see if you're in the area

Great low key walk with little ones to observe nature. The walkways are marked with informative plaques about local fauna. Bring your magnifying glass to observe the minnows or your binoculars to bird watch.

Views of the river are beautiful. But this trail is used as a toilet for horses. It’s not easy to finish the walk with clean shoes. And the smell at all the loop is very unpleasant

Lots of birds but also lots of mosquitos.

R o3738

Great views along the river, however, frequent use by horses (by the tour company nearby) turns the majority of the track into a total mudpit making it incredibly uncomfortable for pedestrians post-rain.

Probably our favourite spot to come when we’re in Banff. The loop is easy for all and the views are gorgeous. We love hearing the water trickle down the mountain all the way to the lake. The water is so warm, it never freezes. There are lookouts for birds and spots to see the small fish that call the marsh home. Peaceful spot just to relax. Check it out next time you’re in Banff. It’s just below the Cave and Basin.

Newton Hislop

We go there often & love it! It's a nice easy walk with a gradual incline, which is great if you're on bikes. Nice falls you can dip your toes in, but be careful, it can be slippery. It's not a busy path but you come apon trail rides often. There's also little trails, off the main, going through the marsh. Highly recommended

Lovely boardwalk.

Its is a short interpretive boardwalk. Interesting little Oasis created by the hot geothermal water outflow from the Cave & Basin hot springs. Sundance Canyon trail is currently closed due to selective logging operations. DMack.

Like almost everything in Banff the Marsh Loop Trailhead is amazingly beautiful. Clean clear water, surrounded by trees and mountains. I would think that this would be a good place to watch for animals.
