This Park belongs to the category of Campground.
I have been a patron of this park for 20 years. We came camping with my family for the long weekend, and were attacked two days in a row by the county park attendant, who threatened us with fines, evictions and RCMP. Why you ask? For having two cars parked in one site. They went around handing out papers that said if you dont like the rules then go somewhere else. $100 fine for a dog barking. Get real. Meanwhile there was idiots speeding around the park, people driving trucks with todlers riding in the box, dogs running around off leash, ect. Will never be back to this police-state cash grab park.
Absolutely fantastic stay. The owners are delightful and so helpful.
This was by far the worst camping trip ever we got "talked" to (really just yelled at) by the owners 7 times first for having 2 cars in 1 campsite like really if the cars fit why is there not allowed 2 cars then we got yelled at because we had 3 tents like come on we had got a campsite for 2 familes and then and 2nd one for another family and they were trying to get us to move a 9 year olds tent to the other campsite (with a family he did not know) so we told them we would in the morning but we its not like we were going to because like HE IS 9!! then they came because we were "too loud" so that was the end of that day then the next day in the morning the very rude man came and said hey just coming to cheak if you have that 3rd tent down and we told him we were not going to take it down since he was 9 and the other tents 1 was the people who shared a campsite with us and the other one was 2 11 year olds then he begain to say well did you read the rules and we said no who reads the rules before camping and the paper was 7 pages long and we straight up said we used it to start the fire not even 10 minutes later guess who came his wife and said we need to move it right away so we got fed up and i said well can we put the tent in the box of the truck and she rolled her eyes and said well i guess we will let it slide so then she left and then the 6th time was because we parked on the street because there was not more parking and got yelled at and she made us park in the other side of the campground and the last time we saw this girl was at 11:20 and when she came she went in the DO NOT ENTER like are you stupid just because you own the place doesn't mean u get to break the law and she came to tell us to turn our generator off while the people across from us were yelling and she didn't say a thing to them i would not recommend this place to you go spend your money somewhere else
Loved the river, the green grass, and amazing facilities!
Nice place. Sites are a bit close together.
I love this place. No, seriously, I do. You might think it's a negative, but it doesn't have cell service. In this age where it is so hard to get off our phones, to go somewhere that forced us to be off them was a blessing. It was so needed and gave us plenty of time to stare intonthe fire and enjoy the mostly quiet evenings. There is an excellent park in the middle for the kids to run off to and hiking in the woods or going down the river sure made for excellent relaxation. Oh... and free chopped wood? Yeah... sure beats having to get those bags of wood at Canadian Tire and lugging it around and then realizing you didn't bring enough. The toilets are clean and if you know where to look, there are a couple of flush ones too. If you haven't been there, go.
wonderful place kids loved????????
Maybe the nicest camp ground in the county of Grande Prairie.
Good
Could have better signs. Also couldn't find the disc golf course that's is apparently there.
Great place to enjoy with family! Campfire, river, nature, park for children and a museum.
We always love going down to the river through the park. Wonderful spot to spend a warm day and a great park in the campground.
Awwseome campground!!!! Spots are nice and private and our kids loved the park and the bike trails. Very clean and quiet place. Will go back again for sure! The mini dinosaur museum is very cool ????????
Went to the creek today with my dogs. We had a great time in the day area of the campground, and met the Camp Superintendent. He was very friendly, and the campground was very tidy
Nice campground good playground for children the campground is clean. The river is not good for swimming this is my reason for only 4 stars. We like the campground and have booked 2 more sites for this year and we will be back next year.
Great day adventure.
Very nice park
They have been great with us. Easy place to get into and very quiet and beautiful, clean place to stay.
Bring your running shoes. It's definitely not flip flop walk in anymore
Camp Host Betty is amazing. Went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable!
Just okay
Just chill
The weather could have been better but the camping was great
Woohoo
Nice clean campground couple of things to do there but every strict
Good
Quiet campground. Powered and unpowered sites. Close to the river. Playground and trails.
Kids had fun lots of big toys to play on.
This is a gorgeous little campground.
Pipestone is beautiful as always. It's great to walk the trails and getting exercise. I love checking out the river for fossils or just interesting rocks. It's great for picnics and camping too. The road getting in is rough but it's worth the drive. It's one of my favorite places.
Great place, clean sites, beautiful scenery.
The new campground managers run their own hours and have limited all access to the park even by foot.
Great place close to town to explore
Nice size lots and very quiet.
Very nice area in Wapiti River Valley.
We had an amazing time. The park is fantastic and the campsites are clean and well maintained. I was pleasantly surprised with the showers, clean and good water pressure. The walking trails and areas to explore are a great escape from the city. I also love that there is no cell service!
We enjoyed a relaxing 3 night stay camping at Pipestone. The owner popped by to see if we had settled in well. Lots of free firewood available. Also managed to get close with some Grey Jays and Blue Jays birds. Able to feed them from your hand
I was at this campground this weekend gone. Beautiful camp ground, nice playground and we had a fairly big sized camp area. Lots of room for my little boys to run around with no worries. However, it was late at night, maybe around 1-2 we were after having a few drinks around the fire and a security guard came by and asked if we could move one of our vehicles into the day use area as there were only allowed one vehicle and one tent per site. However we figured when we got there that it just for the smaller camp sites as we had two of them into our camping area with TONS of room left. But we were still required to move the vehicle which doesn’t make sense because if there’s tons of room still, whats it gonna hurt? Not to mention a few different security people came by during the day and didn’t say a word about it until late at night when it was dark and we were after having a few drinks. The out house by our campground also smelled HORRIBLE. I mean, what can u expect, it’s a outhouse but it was the worst smelling one I’ve ever smaller. Didn’t seem as if it was “maintained” That’s my only complaints. Other than that, it’s was a really good spot to camp. Also really liked the fire pits there as most campground don’t have the gate on top but this one did.
Free fire wood, running water with flush toilets and free showers, great trials, river close by, park for kids and so much more. Great place, it was definitely worth the 5 hour drive.
Beautiful! Host was.excellent!!
Really love it down at Pipestone. Unfortunately the river was too high to get close today, but still has one of the best playgrounds in our region and some great places to go for a walk.
Stayed there from the June 8th to the 13th. Absolutely love this place as we do each year. The Caretakers are wonderful and very hospitable. The total amount was $192.00 which is the average price for a powered site contrary to that other reviews about paying over $50 a night. I love the single vehicle rule as it prevents congestion, plus it doesn't look like a parking lot. If you need that second vehicle you can park outside the gate which is only a 10 minute walk from the furthest site not to mention we all need the exercise not the whinny drama. Quite time is 11pm which makes for a great peaceful time to sit around the fire with friends a family. Beautiful river and trails for walking. Free firewood but bring your own potable water which is no problem. See you again in September.
Excellent facility. Beautifully kept, easy access to the Wapiti river and River of Death bone bed. So many great discoveries waiting for you at Pipestone Creek Park!
Great place to go exploring.
Amazing spot to relax. Bring your boat and enjoy the river.
Have loved this place since i was a kid, have been camping here since i was 6 months old, so 30 years. But $112 for 2 nights?! The new owners are crooks.
Great campground! By far my favorite local campground.
Love this park. Camping here is always nice. They changed their registration system, the only payment method is now credit card.
Great river access.
A must do if you're in the area. Camping and day use park are well maintained. The caretaker is friendly and very helpful. Great park for the kids and dinosaurs too! You are only a 1km walk away from the Pipestone bone beds where hundreds if not thousands of dinosaur bones have been found. Pro tip - It is unlawful to disturb, dig, or remove any fossils in Alberta with up to 50G fines and/or year in jail. Don't be that guy. Nobody wants to be that guy.
It was good very nice and clean
Absolutely WORST place I’ve been in years. I’ve been going there for over 10 years before moving away and previously went down after travelling to see family for my nephews bday and reserved with family n asked special circumstances to have two trailers in one site which we were granted permission for. Even offered to pay for both trailers in one spot n was told not necessary. So I made the 12hr drive here only to b harassed n threatened to have my trailer towed after I repeat was given permission only to have them reverse their decision on DAY THREE of our week long camping. Had nothing but issues with noise waking my two girls up every night. But two trailers in one site was a problem not the music n rowdiness at 3am every morning!!! Don’t know what has happened to my previously beloved campground but this new management n county people have destroyed this place. Don’t even enjoy going their anymore and DO NOT recommend this place to anyone looking for a family campground.
Was great ????. Well kept up. Lots of good burning firewood.
Love it there. Awesome for kids
Awesome facility
Nice place for a picnic and walk. There is a campground to stay too.
Very disappointing to have to change my previous 5 star review to a 1. We just spent the August long weekend at this campground and did not have to best time. New "management" came around with a pretty heavy attitude to enforce the "rules". Some of which were contradicting to the county policies. I have never felt so belittled by someone at a camp ground in my life. She wouldnt let us speak or question these rules. They have created more parking for guests with more than 1 vehicle(only certain sites seem to be able to break parking rules). Right behind the ball diamond...Yup, totally parking my car there. All weekend we watched multiple sites break multiple rules. Encluding some that were very dangerous for kids and other guests. The park seems to be gearing up more for tourists and more for them to make more money. They have even turned to previously free day use areas into "private function" areas. We felt like we were instantly targeted. Maybe had something to do with appearances?!?!Not sure.....Either way brush up on these "common sense" rules if you plan on heading out that way. No one has any issues with rules, but authority figures need to deliver these rules in a much more professional manor. Its sad to see we weren't the only ones who had issues either by reading fresh reviews. Its unfortunate that we will probably never be back as we felt completely unwelcome.
Great place to camp and bring the family. No cell service so leave em at home. It is camping after all.
Excellent camp ground with treed sites and lots of fire wood. Always enjoy camping here! Friendly camp attendant doing a great job maintaining the area. Keep up the good work
The new campsite Manager at Pipestone is absolutely fabulous. He was so welcoming, friendly and helpful. He was pleasure to chat to and worked so quick to cover a muddy patch in the loop. Thanks to him we had a fantastic May long weekend.
Great day spot and over night camping facilities . Nice place for the family to enjoy
Awesome place to take the kids and family out to for a day or weekend trip
Great camp ground. Comfort rooms are clean. We’ll go back here every time we can.
It was once a nice campground to have some safe and responsible fun with your family but now it is a place where they don’t care about your stay they just want your money. The Management ruined a special Father’s Day weekend with my family. The staff is rude, abrupt, intrusive and not fit to deal with the public. The campground is run like a prison. We were harassed and spoken to with such disrespect. We were treated as disruptive teenagers instead of the business owners, upstanding citizens and honest families we are. While playing a few games with our kids we were ordered by the management quite rudely to be quieter so we put our games away sat in our chairs with our blankets and marshmallows while our children slept and watched the campfire. No shouting, no dogs barking, no music playing, just a few quiet stories between friends and are then met with RCMP who drove out to waste their time talking to a handful of people sitting around a quiet fire. We were told that the 11pm quiet time is basically an 11pm bedtime. The whole experience was aggressive and disturbing and I am shocked that it how people are treated there... a disgrace
Very nice place to camp dinosaur bone bed was cool to visit
Amazing park .. dinosaur bonebed... biking and hkking trails.. garter snakes Wapti River.. campgrounds.. firepit.. playground and alot more
Awesome park to bring the kids camping.
Very difficult to level a trailer in th group campground For what is being charged expect a lot better facility
As good as camping can get in alberta. A secluded park lots of activities, walking trails, and a big old river running right through.
Awesome place to go with kids.
Nice place to go for a picnic
Table was beyond dirty and the bench was broken off, old meat and grease on the fire pit grate and dog food dumped on the ground. Apparently no bear safety measures here. Told check in wasn't until 4pm so that "extra cleaning measures could be taken". $47 for one night. So very disappointed.
Nice upgraded playground equipment
I have been going to Pipestone for the last 5 years and it USE to be an awesome place to go . But this year they have someone new running the campground ( Larry )and he is strongly enforcing the rules to a point that there's no room for fun anymore. Don't be surprise if he shows up to your site 4-5 times a day cause you are doing something he doesn't like or he's just checking on you.It USE to be a great place for kids but he took the fun away from them as well. If you want to meet Larry Hitler go to Pipestone, but I do recommend to go somewhere else.
Beautiful campground. Wonderful park. Free firewood. Very well kept.
I used to love this park, even got married on the river 5 years ago, it's a beautiful place but the new managment is absolutely horrible!!!!!!! I can't even express it enough!!!! They had nothing better to do than to harass everyone who stayed there. We spent $700 on a group use with a place for ten trailers (we had 6). We were there with our children for fathers day weekend. They were in and out of our site constantly. On Saturday alone they were in there 15 times to hand out paperwork, scold.us or to just spy on us.Yelling at us about our dogs to be leashed, when they were the whole time. They interrupted our father's day games that we were playing with our kids to tell us to keep it down and proceeded to threaten us. Then bring back the cops later that evening, when most people were in bed especially all children. Listen if you have a spot for ten trailers say 2 ppl at least per trailer. Thats 20 ppl. Talking alone will cause a bit of noise.. maybe have the firepit somewhere, where its not almost in someone elses site??? Its a huge field! Just so disappointed, we were looking forward to this weekend.and had spent a lot of money to do this. Only to be met with terrible harassing attendents. Just go somewhere else if you want to enjoy your time.and money
Maintenance has improved significantly from previous years. Lots have been gravelled, Power upgrades, bathrooms are cleaned daily, outhouses are clean and emptied regularly. Good access to the river. Only thing missing is a canteen for the kids.
Really nice park. Quiet and peaceful. Can easily walk down to the river.
Excellent camping. River access good for hiking. Showers are very nice. Hosts are very helpful.
Nice walk.
Great playground, nice sheltered area, and no phone service!! Lol.
This is a beautiful and well maintained campground. The customer service is great too, we had an error in our booking (my fault) and I called the park and spoke with Betty who was super helpful and got us all set-up and corrected our booking. You won’t go wrong visiting for a day, camping for a weekend or staying for the summer.
Loved it!! Rained a bit every night so was a bit mucky, but we really enjoyed it
Great place
Great spot for kids
We’ve been camping at Pipestone for 10 years and doubt a return. The single vehicle rule needs to disappear and it’s strictly over enforced. I usually leave before my wife due to different work times so we have 2 vehicles with us our truck …
By far the best family campground in the Peace Region. Huge park, lots of grass field for activities. Close to the river, great hiking opportunities for all ages. Spacious campsites with power to quite a few of them. Current caretakers are amazing. Would recommend it to anyone.
Nice playground for the kids. Clean and well maintained! No cell phone service at all
I had to put 1 star cause there was no 0. My husband and i just stayed there this weekend, and we will never return. 1 lady(if you want to call her that) she's a staff member but shes a nasty crusty girl. Yelled at us for having our generator on meanwhile people next to us had theirs on too and not a word from here it was only 940, quiet time is at 11 and still people having generator's on and screaming, she literally stood there til it was off, then walked away came back and again said something else but we ignored her. Not to meantion thats theres no privacy between lots. I can go on and on, but the only beautiful thing we are going to miss there is the nature the birds and squirrels.
