Really interesting art exposition. Upper floor is probably the one with best paints

Paul J. Hawkins, Jr.

I've enjoyed very much last year the "Supermen" cartoon exhibition, but also the paintings. Friendly staff. There is a motto I recall: "Art in the eyes of the Royal Canadian Academy of Art is a masculine prerogative". The view of the river from their balcony is great.

It's more than an art gallery, there more going on apparently? The exhibit we saw was quite good. The parking lot must have been designed by artists. Great location.

The Chimczuk Museum was the best part especially with kids. Lots of hands on activities and a scavenger hunt even grownups can enjoy. As for the Art Gallery I didn’t find it worth the extra money

A beautiful collection of artwork. The staff is always extremely friendly, helpful and encouraging when asked questions. Great place, always worth making a trip.

You need to go there with the right expectations. It’s very small and you won’t find any masterpieces there but for art lovers it’s worth a visit if you are in the area. At first I didn’t like that all paintings in one room are hung frame to frame instead of separately but then I reached the information plaque which explains the reason for that. Immidiately I felt different about the paintings I was looking at. That was interesting.

The main floor with the permanent exhibits is pretty cool. They go from ancient all the way to modern history. Definitely worth going just for that. The upper floors art gallery is nice, but you'd need to be a fan of modern art to appreciate it. It might be different when you go, but when I went it was mostly full of clever photographs and art class type stuff. They have a student discount on admission though, so that was nice.

Small. But have good staff

Andrew Jamieson

Nice place to visit for about 3 hours. The museum is well put together with interesting Windsor facts. The Art Gallery is a nice and small peaceful space. I do prefer the 'old' stuff on the gallery wall, though sometimes the new stuff surprises me into liking it.

Deborah Peterson

This was a severely underwhelming experience relative to any art gallery I've ever visited, or any one ever. Second floor was inaccessible due to upgrades and third floor was a grand letdown. Do remember to step into this hallway where you can have a nice view of Detroit and the waterfront.

Irene M. Hawkins

Britney

This was an incredibly disappointing visit. I've never seen such a poorly curated collection. As well, it appears as though the staff, and the curator, have little to no experience in actual exhibition of work. The little work present is exhibited in dark rooms with any information on a specific piece being nothing short of a challenge to find. This was the most disappointing aspect of my visit to Windsor. 10/10 WOULD AVOID.

The Art Gallery of Windsor is an amazing resource for anyone interested in learning about the cities past as throughout the year they have different exhibitions that are often based on the local area. The building is beautiful and offers an amazing view of the Detroit skyline.

I know art is subjective, but these exhibits are just ridiculous sometimes. Seemed like a definite waste of my money and time.

The museum part of the building is really intriguing and educational speaking as a historian and the third floor of the art gallery had some absolutely beautiful paintings. Didn't like some of the photography on the second floor but still really enjoyed it. The price of admission is also worth the experience.

The best place ever

Parita Patel

Great Black History Museum. Impressive art collection.

Tomas Buchan

Some times artworks are so powerful, they makes me sweat. Other times I weep with joy, ecstasy or sorrow. Like I know God and have conversed with him. Art so powerful that will accompany me to my grave. These where not that kinds of works. I was not moved, touched or inspired by the present exhibitions. I walked out feeling empty and meaningless.

Alexandre Rousselet

Silly me. I thought it would be a nice visit to take in the art gallery during March Break only to find out that you actually can't view the ART in the ART GALLERY on Tuesday because even though the building is open, the ART is closed. Seriously?!? During March Break? Really sad. Some art gallery.

Nice small collection of artwork. Takes a couple hours if you take your time. If you are downtown and looking for something to do its a good place to go. There is also a museum attached that would occupy more time but you will have to pay extra for that.

I recently attended AGW for the first time, and was surprised by the exhibits inside. I always pictured it only be a display of modern art!

The AGW is a must see for anyone who has an appreciation for the creative. ...and I will be definately be returning as I'm now a member. This is just a sample of what you will see and there is so much more. Life is awesome!!! ..and yes, I got permission before taking any photos ????

David Chilcott

Awesome tourist attraction! Love visiting it for all their interesting exhibitions.

Asad “Arcane”

I stopped going since they charge $10 a person now. The University of Michigan has a far better exhibit and is free, would recommend going there.

Cedrick Ball

This is a gem of a gallery. I attended the Warhol exhibit and was blown away. The docents and staff are knowledgeable and professional. I love bringing my kids here, the programming is the best - they really make the kids think and expand their creative boundaries. The AGW is a wonderful place to spend a couple of hours.

I went here in a school field trip and loved it. There was this amazing view. I'm not sure if the school or the museum organized this, but we had to pick a piece of art and do a presentation on it. I did not very like that part. The art pieces and the way everything was placed made me feel welcome. I would definitely go back if I ever got the chance. If you are a fan or art go to this museum.

What a beautiful gallery. I went to an opening night and they were so organized in letting everyone in. I get the impression that opening nights are usually well attended. The work exhibited in all the floors was interested. I say, go and visit. Besides, it is proven that your blood pressure lowers when you visit an art gallery. There is an elevator -in case you are wondering. It has (three or four?) floors with ample room to move around.

Lots of art and displays to check out. Depending on the exhibit they have it can be great or sub par. The empty rooms can be used for weddings and engagements and they have a beautiful garden on the top of the gallery you can check out when it's open. Top floor has old art works with gorgeous gilded frames which you need binoculars to truly appreciate, second floor is composed of new art works, often indigenous displays and Canadian artists are featured.
