We were contacted by Gabe about painting our house back in March of this year. Due to Covid 19 everything was delayed. Gabe is very nice and professional in all of his correspondence and always answered questions promptly! His team was also very nice and energetic! We just don’t believe they were trained very well! In June our project finally was completed. The house looks good but unfortunately there were several overspray issues and paint was sprayed on several spots on our lawn killing the grass in those areas! Another training issue came up while trying to obtain financing. We just don’t think this was explained to Gabe as several delays occurred. Also dealing with the corporate office is very difficult as everything fell back on Gabe and they would not answer questions directly.

We recently had the exterior trim of our house painted by Gabe and his crew. We were approached as a cold call visit to the house, with a subsequent in-person bid estimate, and while we weren't planning on getting this project done this year, it was needed. In meeting with Gabe he was attentive, informative and provided a competitive bid that allowed us to fit the project in this year. From the beginning he did a great job with communication and setting up expectations. He and his crew put in the hard work on prep, enabling the final paint to look great and restored weathered surfaces back to a good finish. They completed the project with dedicated time over 2 days, and were amenable to finishing details that needed to be finished during end of project walk through. I would definitely recommend him to anyone needing paint work done. I also value Gabe and his crew getting this type of real world business experience working from sale to completion on a project. ???????? Thanks for the great job Gabe and crew.

I do not recommend College Works and will never use them again. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt and completely regret it. The crew was very inexperienced, were not prepared for the job, and were very careless about where paint should go versus were it should not go. They had gotten paint on my carpet, sinks, showers, walls that shouldn't have been painted, and appliances. They removed some wall plates and taped around others. Did not tape outlets and got paint on those. Did not tape the trim well and got paint in spots on the trim. I had to have the crew come back three times to fix things. I asked for a discount due to these issues and the crew lead asked if he could just pay me cash on the side. This is very shady... I was able to get a 10% discount through the company, but such a pain in the butt. Please do not attempt to use this company. Go with real professionals, even if it costs a bit more.

My house looks great. Not only did I get a nice paint job, but the crew went beyond painting when they removed vines and sanded and caulked an old chimney which looks 100% better. 4 stars instead of 5 as there were a couple of mishaps, but the crew manager corrected anything and everything I pointed out and was extremely cordial about all of my concerns. So, she gets 5 stars! I would recommend.

Got our brand new untreated cedar deck stained 2 years ago - the next spring, the stain PEALED. Normally decks aren't under warrenty, but because this shouldn't happen, they were good enough to re-stain. However they didn't strip the previous stain. So again this spring, it pealed again. This time, they won't grant a warrenty. We asked for a refund since not only did we not get the outcome we paid for, we are now worse off than before - we have to strip the previous stain and now stain the deck ourselves. We paid for this service because originally I was pregnant and we wanted to decrease our chore load that summer. Now we have to do this extra work, have a 2 year old and I am pregnant again. They said they will give us 25% refund. We're taking it, because it's better than nothing. But we recommend you do NOT use this company for any staining purposes.

If you want your 20 year old brother and his 2 sloppy buddies with no painting experience to paint your house, then hire this company. Everything they do is in a rush, therefore, it’s sloppy. There is NO quality control or accountability. YOU have to find their mistakes, and trust me - there will be plenty. Three weeks after my job was done, I noticed they failed to paint 90% of the back sides of my facia. It took weeks to get my rep back out to paint it and he was NOT happy to do it. There was paint all over my roof, sidewalk, 2 paver patios that were each 25 feet away from my house, brick, stucco, gates, walkways, grill, hose, rain barrels, etc.. Everything had paint on it. After SEVERAL contacts, I got them to come back & clean maybe 1/2 of it up several weeks later. There was a bunch of paint on the brick walkway right in front of my back door that I insisted they clean up the day after our house was painted. As far as the internship is concerned the business management skills of my rep were awful. He was bad at customer service (it was apparent he just didn’t care), he was bad at communication, he was bad at time management, he was bad at quality, he was bad at checking his own work. The night they completed our house, which was 8:45 p.m., in the dark, I noticed they missed the front facia on the side of my house. So they quickly and sloppily got up and painted it, dropping an entire can of paint on my brick walkway. At first, the worker was going to leave half the spilled paint there, but luckily I saw it and the rep was there, so he made him keep flushing it with water until the majority was cleaned up. Both myself and a friend had our houses painted by College Works and we both regret it. We both had the same experienced and would never recommend them. It’s a poorly run company that does a poor poor job.

I was a bit skeptical at first since our home was not the easiest to paint, but the team knocked it out of the park in a very timely and professional manner. Recommend highly.

The crew picked up their materials daily and were very respectful. I was in constant contact with Tom for any questions I had or to get updates. Cody Kraay sold us on repairs that didn't need to be done and bailed as our point of contact before the job even started. They subcontracted the job out also, which we weren't told about, so this was deceptive. Garbage company, avoid at all costs

Overall, our experience with College Works Painting was very good. The contractor, Alex Chapdelaine, was courteous and communicated well. He did a good job of scheduling the workdays for getting our deck painted; and, he made sure the work was well done. He and his crew were pretty challenged by our job due to the contractor building the deck taking 3 weeks longer than expected to complete it, bringing our job to the end of the summer season. Alex and his guys could've done a shoddy job, so they could get back to school; but, they kept their word and completed the job within their time constraints. Our deck looks great! We'll use College Works again with any other upcoming jobs.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! NOT EVEN TO WALK YOUR DOG! All positive reviews are definitely bought or are from people that works there! I hired them to reface my deck. They did an absolutely awful job! Dumb of me for not reading a lot into the reviews or doing a better research. Not just the deck looks awful, unfinished and broken, but they also put holes on the side of the house! When the snow melted I had water infiltration for all the holes they put on the side of the house. When I emailed Cody Kraay I got nothing back. They were in such a hurry to make me sign the paperwork saying their job was done and that I was satisfied with their work! OMG! ???????????? DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. Better do the job yourself! I’m extremely disappointed!

My wife and I are typically pretty big do-it-yourselfers, and rarely spend any time with companies that go door to door. However we were extremely busy this fall and our first visit by Alex Chapdelaine was very far from your typical door to door sales pitch. Right from the beginning he was extremely courteous, gave us an extremely brief description of what College Works does, and then took the time to ask us if we were interested at all before going into more details. It was so refreshing to have someone let me decide whether it is worth my time to listen to their detailed pitch before they start. Throughout the process Alex was fantastic. He gave laid out options very clearly and it was obvious he was not trying to oversell us on product or make a larger margin by pushing us for cheaper product. Alex cleaned up after himself after each step of the process, was extremely conscientious, and communicated with us very well. Having seen the quality of work that was done, and the amount of time spent on the project, I am quite certain I actually saved money having College Works do my project -- something I don't think I could say about any other contract work we have ever had done. I am very confident that I will use College Works again in the future, and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to have exterior work done.

Noah Aldes and his College Works Painting crew in the Minneapolis area did a fantastic job on our house, which with some of its nuances is not easy to paint. We received multiple quotes and selected Noah and his crew based on presentation, availability/schedule, price, and feedback from others. Noah's communications were excellent - he new the business, the work and the products, he always answered questions and quickly followed up calls, and was retroactive in providing schedules and updates. His crew was respectful of our property and always left the jobsite clean. I am very pleased with their work product and would highly recommend Noah and his crew for house painting.

Jackson Gerot was the College Works Painting Professional in charge of painting our entire 2 story concrete house. He and his one man crew finished the job in 4 days. Dug around the foundation of the home to get paint where paint has never been, trimmed, rolled and sprayed the home. Used duration Sherwin Williams paint that covered great even flaws in the concrete. Highly would use them again.

I am a former painter for College Works painting and I wish I could rate this lower. The reason I wish I was able to rate even lower is the experience I had working there. College Works is an awful company especially in MN. There is no real training for painters and pay is at state minimum 8.00 an hour. Worse still is the fact that the company even at one point was paying me lower than minimum wage. Since me leaving the company I have been trying to get a hold of anyone from the company to request my last paycheck. No one from College Works has been willing to tell me how to get a hold of payroll. In short this company should not be allowed to operate due to them not caring about safety, quality or their employees. Also look at the company website where they describe how to avoid scams and how they compare themselves to not being a pyramid scheme, seems pretty fishy that they would feel the need to say that.

Nothing went right with College Works Painting. They were delayed in starting by a month, and they only agreed to start when I asked to have my deposit refunded. The painter was concerned about finishing, so he could move on to his next job. He did a terrible job. No pre-washing of walls as promised. One coat of paint - not two. Paint spots on woodwork and carpeting and spots that were entirely missed. I will NEVER use them again. It was a terrible experience.

This was my first time experience with College Works, though they were doing job before in our neighborhood. The representative stopped by, and we discussed the project. Next step was a visit by the team of an expert (supervisor) and a person in training, Philip Roetman, who was running the project during the later stages. We discussed the project and made an estimate. All process was very smooth. This discussion happened just before COVID-19 outbreak, so the project was moving very slowly, but this was the result of the whole environment. We were informed of all the steps. We were able to make a perfect match between the old paint and the areas we were painting. Philip and his crew did a great job meeting our expectations for what we were looking for in painting our home. At the end of the work Philip stopped one last time and we made a final discussion/adjustment. I am very pleased with the job done.

Through the persuesive advise of Michael Fasbender, I contracted with College Works Painiting to have my redwood house restained. Under the the direction of Ryan Siewert, the quality of the project was exemplary. We couldn"t have been more pleased. Both Ryan and Michael more than delivered on their presentations. The job was completed in a very timely and neat pattern. Unlike previous stainiings there was no evidence of spillage or splatter. Loose nails had been fixed, caulking done where necessary, and excess stain (which I had purchased previously) was returned. A matching paint was required for my weathered garage garage doors. The paint was selceted and applied by Ryan. The doors had not looked as good since they were new. I had my house built in 1977. I have had to restain it five times. The job done by Ryan and crew was in my estimate the best. Based on my experiencewith the quality of personel and wormanship, I would recommend College Works Painting without reservation.

No customer service. Sloppy work. More paint on the ground than on the house. Supervisor was argumentative and unwilling to finish the job. I was rushed thru a final inspection and pressured to leave positive reviews. My contract stated 2 coats of paint and they would caulk any gaps. Only one coat of paint and not one tube of caulk was used.

Bianca and her crew did a great job for us. We needed a painter last minute as we were between renters and did not realize just how much painting needed to be done. We live in VA and our home that we rent is in NJ. Bianca was very professional and agreed to meet us on the only day we were up there which happened to be over the July 4th holiday weekend. They gave us a reasonable price and were able to meet our timeline as we only had less then a week to get it done. Furthermore they did a great job of cleaning up as they went along so we didn't have the added expense of having a cleaner come in after the job. I would highly recommend Bianca and her crew and we will definitely be using them again in the future.

The college sales man did a great job selling their services. However the follow through was very poor. Estimating for exterior repair had to be revised twice. Scope of work was not clarified clearly ever and carpentry work had to be redone. The painting crew while friendly, and mostly clean said they patch and repair holes, they repaired one hole, and even did not prep the new carpentry performed by their company. Parts of the exterior trim were never touched and will have to be touched up by myself. I thought we had hired professionals. This crew is NOT professional. We registered for the warranty so when the paint peels from the non paintable caulk applied by their company, they can fix it. Not recommended.

My initial contact with College Works was to obtain an appraisal and bid for painting my house, trim, shutters, and front door. Kyle Rathman called and scheduled a convenient time and date to meet and discuss the specifics of what I wanted done and to provide a bid of what it would cost. After our conversation, he took the necessary time to appraise what I wanted accomplished, explained exactly (in detail) what needed to be done to do the job correctly, and provided a fair-priced bid. From the moment Kyle and his team arrived, he stayed on-site to manage the work for the entire two days it took to complete the job, and made sure everything was done according to our agreement. When the work was finished, I was given a final inspection to make sure everything was done to my expectations and satisfaction. I’m a very happy College Works customer.
