We have now used Axcell twice: August 2107 for the exterior of the house, and March 2018 for the interior. They do good work, clean up after themselves, and the staff are polite. For the interior, it was a big job and they had to make a couple of extra trips back to fix small small items that were missed; but, they didn't hesitate to return and get everything put just the way it needed to be done. We will use them again the next time we have painting to be done.

Axcell (Ottawa Cabinet Painting) did an excellent job refinishing our 20 year old custom cherry wood shaker style kitchen cabinets. We opted for a more modern dark bluish grey colour with stainless knobs. The cabinets look factory finished and brand new! Impeccable quality and meticulous attention to detail. Axcell has a very professional administration. They responded to my inquiry quickly with a visit by the foreman to estimate the work to be done. He arrived on time and sent a written estimate quickly. We booked a time of 8:00 AM on a Thursday for the work to be done and on that day, nobody showed up. We had to call the office to find out why the painter never arrived. We did not hear back from the office until 12:30 saying that someone would come the next morning at 9. They did arrive on time Friday morning and did the work. The work was very well done and we are very happy with the results but the no-show and lack of explanation was disappointing. We were simply informed that the painter never showed up and never called. We were not offered any kind of compensation for this mishap.

Can't believe I missed reviewing before - we had our cabinets repainted last year and were very impressed with the work. We picked our own colours (2-tone for top and bottom cabinets, they were plain wood as seen in the before pic). To start the job they picked up the cabinet doors and painted them at their warehouse, meaning less mess at our place. When they were ready they painted the cabinets in a few hours and put the doors back on. We also had the bathroom done the same white. We were careful after painting to not be overly aggressive with the paint and so far there has been very minimal wear and only in areas where we would have chipped the wood regardless.

The work went off without a hitch and my entire condo had three coats of paint in less than a day - it was painless. Axcell Painting promises of Promptness, Professionalism, Peace of Mind, Persistence are all just words to them. PROMPTNESS: Their painters didn't show up when scheduled, and showed up when not scheduled. One painter named David was driving on a suspended license. I had to stop my flooring installers from working for two days because his painters didn't show up. PROFESSIONALISM: Painting was very poor, rushed and they got paint on the walls, baseboards, and expensive granite counter top. I had to send back the kitchen doors because they were pitted. They did not fix the doors to my standards. The painters also didn't properly prep the kitchen for painting. No sanding was done and only one coat of primer was used. Each painter told me that they only get so much per job so they have to be quick. Claude said that David's work was a mess and so did Chris. Chris missed spots and said that he really didn't want to come back as he lives in Orleans. Peace of Mind: We were not happy with the work they did which was sloppy, inconsistent and a mess. In the end he said that he wasn't going to fix it. Prior to the final inspection Rob wanted cash payment. This was a red flag for me. He became very upset and angry when I didn't give it to him that night. I suggested that he came over of Tuesday May 22nd after the long weekend so I could give him some feedback.. He didn't want to but then agreed. I asked him what his expectation and he said to get money. I replied that wont happen. The paint started to chip immediately with normal use and this is unacceptable to the standards that he set out. Persistence: Today Rob ask me " do you want me to leave?" He should have said I want to work things out with you. He clearly didn't want to stay. I asked him if he wanted to come back each week to fix paint chips? He said NO. I said we shouldn't have to bubble wrap out kitchen cabinets for the next 30 days to live. He had no comment. His painter Chris kept on interjecting that it was my problem and fault a few time but Rob eventually cut him off. I lost complete confidence in Rob, his painters, and the product he applied to the cabinets. Avoid using them at all costs.

I had used Axcell in the past and was reasonably satisfied however this spring my experience was less then stellar. I contacted them in early May for an estimate, it took two weeks for them to come and do the estimate and another two weeks to email me the estimate. I tried to contact them to schedule the painting but it took them another 3 weeks just to schedule the job. Finally, at the end of June they were scheduled to come and complete the painting, but no one showed up! I took a morning off of work only to be stood up. I won't be using this company again.

Axcell's Motto is PPPP. Promptness: The painters, Rob and Claude did not show up on time and we were not notified of the change of time. Professionalism: The cabinets were poorly installed and painted. The cabinets came back dented, pitted and warped in some places. No care was taken with the painting. Resulting in sub-standard quality. The company refuses to fix their poor workmanship. Peace of Mind: There is no peace of mind and despite what they claim, they told me that I have to call someone to fix their job. Persistence: This is a joke. No persistence. No after service. Instead ask that I find another contractor to fix their job. Solution: Stay away from this company.

I'm so disappointed in the quality of work from Axcell. I'm particularly disappointed since I was a repeat customer. My husband and I moved into our forever home this summer and hired Axcell to paint the entire upstairs, including the kitchen cabinets. I knew we were in trouble when the crew showed up nearly two hours late on the first day and then took a two hour lunch. My fears were confirmed with the quality of work. Filler wasn't sanded off prior to painting, globs of it were on the baseboards and in fact the master bedroom was painted the wrong colour. I contacted the company after the job but disappointingly my calls weren't returned, so it's clear I'm on my own. Now, barely five months later the paint is popping off the ceiling in the living room. I'll clearly need to pay another company to have the work redone. My desk office was left a mess. Marks were all over the walls. Horrible job and I'll never use them again.

When I realized that they do regular home painting, I asked them if they can do it in two weeks. I was very impressed with the initial setup and communication. Axcell was very professional and thorough in providing their quote and supporting documents. Communication began to fall off midway through the job as several dates (removal of cabinets and re-install of cabinets) were missed without notice or communication. I had to follow up several times for a response and to re-schedule. In all, the job took 2 weeks longer than anticipated, which wasn't a big deal but IMO should have been communicated along the way. Staff were very courteous and professional, and a pleasure to have in our home. In the end, the cabinets look great and the quality is exceptional. I would recommend this company but some improvements are needed in their communication and in meeting scheduled appointments.
